No Remote DVR After Router Reset

Remote DVR was working fine,  then after router reset it no longer works.
This is very poor system design.
Rebooted DVR - No joy.
Can ping DVR so know it is on the network
DVR Self Diag passes all test and listener 1 is started
FiOS TV Central Error Message: "There was an error while processing your request.  Please try again later."
Router has TCP port 35000 forwarded to DVR port 8082 (192.168.1.100:8082)
before reset it was UDP port 63145 forwarded to DVR (192.168.1.100)
Did I already mention this is very poor system design.
Motorola QIP-7216
Actiontec MI424-WR Rev. C

One other thing you can try.
Unplug the dvr from power
Power cycle the router
Once the router comes back up, then plug the DVR back in
When the DVR boots back up, supposedly the rules for the remote dvr will be reloaded into the router. Sounds strange but I've been told it works.

  • Unable to connect to internet after router reset

    Hi,
Am in need of some urgent help please - my MacBook Pro is unable to connect to the internet following a reset and reboot of my Belkin54g router.
Last week I was following some troubleshooting instructions to get my new Vodafone Sure Signal booster to work and it gave some instructions to alter settings in the router's IP configuration - all of a sudden I lost wireless connectivity on both my MacBook Pro & my Dell Laptop.
Last night I spoke to my ISP and they talked me through re-setting the router's settings and now the laptop is back up abd running and fully connected to the wireless and internet.
However, my MacBook Pro appears to detect the wireless, but not the internet connection. I asked the ISP to help but they said they would not help with resetting wireless settings on Macs.
So now i am stuck and don't know what to do. Please, please, please help.
    Thank you!

    Hi
I am having the same problem - all of a sudden from my wireless router I am seeing and connecting to the router but not the internet. I have checked to see if I am getting am IP address from the router and it seems that I am not.
If I connect with the old fashioned wire, it works fine.
    Thanks in advance...

  • Network Settings After Router reset

My telephone switchboard had a fault (unknown to me) which made my ADSL Router interfere with my telephone. Initially I suspected that my router was faulty and went through a sequence of checks to isolate the problem. this included resetting the router to its factory settings. The switchboard problem having been fixed, the interference from the router ceased (the router was not the problem) and I proceeded to reconnect to my ISP but could not do so. The router gave solid DSL and Ethernet lights and I appeared to be connected but I could not open any pages in Safari. In desperation, I booted from my external hard drive; I was able to connect straight away and was able to reset my ADSL username and password. However, this only works on my external boot drive. When I re-boot using my internal drive I am unable to open any pages in Safari. It appears that something in my Network settings (?) on my main drive has been corrupted, but I cannot work out what (It is not Safari as that worked okay when I was booted from the external drive). Could it be my Network Preference Pane? How should I proceed?

Andy, many thanks for your input. I had already done what you suggested but tried it again. Diagnostics could not isolate the problem. The only difference in behaviour was that during the diagnostics process the 'Ethernet' light flashed at about 5 second intervals. Prior to using the diagnostics tool all 3 lights were steady and the Network preferences panel stated that I was connected to the Internet on built-in ethernet. When I open Safari, however, I get the dialogue box that I am not connected to the Internet and offered Network Diagnostics.
This is why I believe that my problem is a faulty Start-up item or extension (does OSX have 'extensions'?) but I do not know how to identify where the fault lies. I have searched my systems using Spotlight in an attempt to find a Network or Internet related file with a recent modification date but this has drawn a blank. Frankly, I think that there are just too many files for this approach to work. I guess that I can try replacing likely sounding files one by one, but I am afraid of making the problem worse by this approach.
Thanks again for your comments, but I remain open to any new approaches to solving my problem.

  • Error After Router Reset?

    Well, we had a weird power surge, and for some reason, when I went to go on the internet, it said no connection. I opened the Linksys program, but when I did that, it said configure a router :/ So, I go through all the steps, but now I get stuck at it saying that it is only used to configure Linksys Routers (which mine is), and it says that it isn't. I cannot find the installation CD which it directs me to use, so am I screwed? ^^;

The installation CD is probably needed , the one that came with the router new.
Try to reset the router to factory settings.
Its a little button in the back.
Please buy a surge protector power strip for your computer/accessories if you don't have one now.
    I hope this helps you.

  • Is router reset really required for Remote DVR use?

I am a new FiOS TV customer, but have been on FiOS internet for a couple of years.
I signed up for the Remote DVR service -- it seems to have some nice features with web access.  I then received an email from Verizon advising me that before the Remote service could be activated, I had to RESET my ActionTec router to factory defaults.
I have made several changes to the defaults to accomodate my home network requirements -- settings which I would prefer not to change!
Does anyone know which specific parameters/settings Verizon is looking for which, if set to the default values, would allow the Renote DVR service to work (or at least pass the remote test Verizon does before allowing service to be activated)?
    Thanks,
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I don't know what settings Verizon may care about, but I can tell you that I activated the Remote DVR service and I did not do a thing to my router beforehand. It all just worked, although occasionally I do get an error message saying it can't contact the DVR, but if I wait a while it almost always works the next time. I do have some customization, but maybe not in the area the Remote DVR service might depend on, such as changing the IP range, using fixed IP addresses instead of DHCP, port usage, etc (I don't know that it depends on any or all of these, or lthers, just speculating).
Remote test that Verizon does before activating? If they did that to mine I wasn't aware of it.
Have you tried to just use it and it not work? Or maybe they have changed the procedure since I got it.
Hope you get it working. I have found it very useful at times.

  • Remote DVR on non-verizon router

I got mine to work!!!  Just wanted to share my success story
We have verizon fios.  We wanted to use our cisco router for vpn since this was not available on the verizon-provided fios router.
    1.  our own router was connected to the ONT (optical network terminal).  This provided DHCP service
    2.  the verizon router (Actiontec) was behind our Cisco router, in bridge mode.  We connected the COAX cable to the verizon router.  We did a patch cable between the Cisco router and the verizon router in bridge mode (note, no x-over cable necessary)
We were able to access the internet from our TV but unable to use remove DVR.
    3.  We did port forwarding.  UDP 63145 and pointed toward the IP address of the main DVR.  We unplugged the power cord (turning off was not enough) and voila!!!  We now have remote DVR functioning just fine.

Not clear by your question regarding "walk through" as I am a non-IT guy.   I only made two modifications on Verizon Actiontec: put router on bridge mode, and turn off DHCP service.  When I first started, I had a hard time navigating through the menus of the verizon router.  Then, I just simply reset and did the above two modifications-- can be found on the network connection option.  Then it worked, without the remote DVR function.  I am not sure if the Verizon service UDP 63145 port forwarding on my Cisco router to the main DVR's IP address is necessary.  However, after the port forwarding and the unplugging, it worked.

  • Use Remote DVR With Your own Router And A Nim.

After some experimenting i have hopefully figured out how to get both Caller Id on tv and Remote dvr to work using these TCP port forwards to static ip's for your dvrs and set top boxes using a nim. In your router go to port forwarding and forward ports 35001 - 35009 use as many as needed for the amount of set top boxes you have. I was also informed by a tier 2 tech support person that in order for the set top box to always start listener 2 which is the TCP listener you need to spoof you wan mac address of you unsupported non verizon router to that of a dlink. Because dlink was verizons original setup and when there system sees a dlink router it knows to assign the TCP listener which is listener 2. I tried to get UDP to work using 63145 udp port. It just doesn't work. If you use this method you loose verizon's support. Oh and if your box is stuck on Listener 1 call verizon and ask to speak or request that they switch it to listener 2. I would do this before you switch the router it makes it much easier.

    Hi,
I have found a workaround but SHAME on NOKIA BROWSER.
I have loaded OPERA MINI and it works: I have got the page of my NETCAM even if it is not possible to get the video because OPERA does not support ACTIVEX (DCS-2120 requires an acticeX to be loaded the first time)
WHO IS GOING TO TELL NOKIA ABOUT THEIR BROWSER ISSUE?
I hope that my experience will help other N95 users.
Now, I am going to get the video stream with realplayer.
    Bye

  • Remote DVR - and Non ActionTech Router

I would like to use remote dvr feature, however I do not (and would prefer not) to use the Actiontech Router.
I have the ONT feeding my Netgear Gigbit Router over CAT5e cable. Connected ot a switch port on my router is a MOCA device to connect my COAX network to my DATA network.
Please advise on what ports need to be forwarded to the DVR box, or what needs to take place for the remote dvr features to work with a non - actiontech router.
If there router wasn't such a piece of junk (specifically the tiny NAT table, and slow throughput compared to others) than I wouldn't mind using it. I tried using it (and I play several online games) and it ALWAYS would cause me to lose internet connection after overrunning the NAT table.
I would like remote dvr feature to work if at all possible.
    Thanks,
    Grant.

    We apologize for the inconvenience.
This is correct. The Verizon supplied router has special firmware to make the proprietary features work. I tried every port forwarding configuration I could think of. If you find a way then let everyone know. If you get it working with the Verizon router and place your own router in place of the Verizon router, the web site will see it and disable the feature. If you keep attempting to do this, the feature will go away from Verizon central all together. Do not expect tech support assistance if they get it working and you break it with your router. That is my experience. I gave up the feature.

  • Airport Extreme in extender mode does not reconnect after main router reset.

I have an Airport Extreme 4th Gen (extender). set to extend the signal from an Airport Extreme 5th Gen (main).  Whenever the main router resets (after reconfig, etc) the extender does not reconnect.  I would have to restart the extender before it will connect again to the network.  However, my Airport Express set to extend will automatically reconnect.  Is this a settings issue?  Please advise.

Ok, well I am hoping you are not doing a re-config of your 5'th gen all the time? This should only be done very rarely... we're talking like less than once a year for many people.  Unless there's something else going on there, I wouldn't worry about it if you have to power-cycle the 4'th gen once in a few blue moons.

The problem is that I DO have a Verizon router, and I don't know what I can do to enable remote programming. To my knowledge I have not made changes to the original setup....

One of my BIGGEST complaints about ALL the remote features and CID. The router MUST have the correct port forwarding rules in the router, so the web site can find the DVR, or STBs for CID. They never get set right, always get messed up with even the simplest changes to the Verizon router. I gave up on all of it and started using my router that I like better. Even with all the correct port forwarding rules in the router, the features are hit or miss in my opinion. These rules are read only and can only be fixed by Verizon.
Contact tech support and insist that it be fixed while you are on the phone. It can be fixed, and do not take the it will need to be escalated, as an answer. Once I was told it would need to be escalated and could take a couple days. Look at your router, and if it is a REV A. Have it replaced because they are nothing but trouble. If you log into the router you should see forwarding rules for each STB or DVR.

  • Remote DVR Activation Failure but using VZ Router

I tried to activate remote DVR but received the error:
"Remote DVR is not supported on non-Verizon routers.
Remote DVR service works only with the Verizon supplied routers and with no changes to the original setup. Since you are using your own router and/or firewall setup we cannot enable Remote DVR on your account."
I am using Verizon supplied D-Link DI-624 router, have all original settings, but do MAC filtering (as suggested by VZ!)
How can I activate the feature?

Well I just went through the same trouble, but was using the first revision of Actiontec router. If you have TV service and use the old D-Link you must have a Motorola NIM-100 for your set top boxes to get all the IP features. When my TV was installed they swaped out the DI-624 for the Actiontec to supply the COAX on router. The D-Link will not work because the firmware does not support the remote access features. Contact tech support and they should send you a new router at no cost. They may want you to send back the old DI-624, or get charged $99. I just sent my old router back with their supplied UPS shipping label. When my Actiontec was installed with the TV the tech said forget that old router and left it with me. "Verizon does not use them anymore".
If you have a NIM-100 and install the Actiontec or Westell router, you will need to remove the NIM-100. Once you get the new router installed, you more then likely will need to have them remove and re add your DVR to get the features enabled. Once my DVR configuration was rejected because of router issue, they had to do that to get the process of activation started again.

  • Another Remote DVR "STB Not Responding" Issue

I've had my FIOS install for a couple weeks now and 3-4 days ago tried to activate the Remote DVR feature. In all other respects my system is working fine. I can login to the FIOS TV Central page, see my STB in the listing, it shows that Remote DVR is enabled.
My STB works fine, records, has the guide, widgets, etc.
My computer network is also working fine. STB shows in my router control software, has a static IP (which does match the IP in the STB settings).
But no matter what I do, the TV Central site will always error with a "Set Top Box is not responding"
I've turned on and off the feature on the STB but that did not make any difference. I see in my router that there are 8 non-editable Port Forwarding rules set up, all identical.
    192.168.1.101   Verizon FIOS Service   Any   HDM_CR_001404_QIP-6416_000-03081-42316-021 - TCP Any -> 35001    Active
Any thoughts here? Reading through the forums it would appear this is a somewhat common and finicky issue. Lots of folks see it and it "magically" gets better, or worse, or flip flops between.

The connection between your DVR and one of Verizon's Servers sometimes 'breaks', and in my experience, cycling the router and/or the DVR won't help. The connection needs to be reset from the Verizon end. If you call or use chat to the service people, they can usually fix it while you are online with them.
It doesn't involves wiping out anything on your DVR.
I went through this a couple weeks ago. Everything except worked, except for online, it always says the unit was not responding. I think I waited about a week before I finally ask Verizon to fix it.

  • Remote DVR is nNot Showing on FIOS TV Central

Remote DVR is not Showing on FIOS TV Central, but in the DVR it is showing it as enabled. The DVR is showing on FIOS TV Central, but the Remote DVR is not showing on the side bar menu. I have the default settings on the Verizon supplied Actiontec router. I have reset the router and the DVR. When this feature was first enabled, my account was messed up and HM-DVR was added. HM-DVR has since been disabled, and removed from my account, but should not be required for this feature. Any ideas?
Oops. Posted in the wrong place. Please move this to FIOS TV Technical. Thanks

    Hello Huw
As far as I know there are no known issues with WLAN connection and I dont know exactly what happen with your WLAN connection. After router reboot try to disable WLAN card for a short time, enable it again and try to establish connection again.
The settings are the same and nothing must be changed.
