No rendering for some effects
When the video has been generated, some effects (like Turn page) is not rendered (no transition from one clip to the other). This is a new problem encoutered!!
Lion and FCE are not supported working together.
Your problem may be another issue of Lion/FCE incompatibility.
Users report a range of no problems to not even working.

Hi, I have small problem, for some time in music area I had two folders to use 1. Apple loops for soundtrack pro 2. Final Cut pro sound effects now both are gray and with out content may I know what happend
I just went through this and it appears that my Focusrite Saffire was the culprit. I connected all the outputs on the focusrite according to the way the jacsk on the back were labeled and then set up the multichannel speaker setup to match. Then I went into STP, created a pink noise clip and panned it around, the LFE, center and rears were not in the right place.
I reconnected the hardware to match the 5.1 pan pot in STP then changed the multichannel speaker setup to match. Everything appears to be correct now but I would have loved to have been able to just assigned the output busses to correct outputs in the saffire.
Next step is to pan that pink noise around with my SPL meter to calibrate the room. -
Turning off "Ken Burns" effect for SOME photos
I see that someone has asked a similar question in the past and told that it's not possible to turn off the Ken Burns effect for some photos, but I'm hoping someone has a workaround or there's a hack...
I've made a slideshow and got the idea to "tell the story" by creating some "title" images in Photoshop elements which I've placed in between a series of photos.
These are just black backgrounds with the title (e.g. "...and the party begins", "Family reunion" etc.) in big white letters. I'm very happy with that idea
I like the Ken Burns effect for the slideshow as it adds some semi-video "action" effect, but NOT on the titles. Having the Ken Burns effect there just looks stupid, so I would like to remove it for the titles alone.
I know I can do it the other way round (go to "Settings" for the Slideshow, deselect "Automatic Ken Burns effect", then manually add the effect for all the photos I want), but with a slideshow album that's going to take ages to do!!
Is there a better way?Perhaps you're checking the KB button on the "main" menu for the slideshow. That actually changes only the setting for the image that is currently selected. Try using the "Settings" button and deselect the "Automatic KB effect."

Fixes for some transform effects problems.
- We were not animating the postLayout properties in some cases where we should have, effectively pinning the object in place. We now animate those properties whenever applyChangesPostLayout is true.
- A copy/paste error meant that we did not animate the scaleZ property in cases where we should have.
- A problem in the transform code means that using a null transform center is not the same as a transform center which uses the transformX/Y/Z properties of the target object. We now force the creation/use of a transform center in all cases to avoid that problem.
QE notes: This breaks about a dozen tests in the transform effects area, but I believe the new results are correct and the tests/bitmaps should be changed.

Rendering of Css Layers OUT on DW for some strange reason
For some reason the rendering of the Layers in DW has blow
out. I don't think anything changed in the css and it was
displaying correctly. I did DUMP my config file for DW to see if it
would resolve, but no.

Realtime effects become jerky after being rendered for 24p HD video
Hello,
Any one comes across that for 24p HD Video clips, e.g. just adding a "cross-dissolve" as the transition between two clips (I have tried both uncompressed and ProRes 422 HQ). Before rendering, the realtime effects (green in color) plays perfectly across. However, after render realtime or render all, we find that there will be once that the video becomes jerkly about at the "out" point of the "cross-dissolve". The same result to the video recorded when "print-to-video" or "edit-to-tape".
The only work-around is to either export the whole sequence to a quicktime movie, OR adding a dummy "Quicktime" effect filter into the both video clips and render all effects. Both methods are very time consuming, as it is video footage
Also, this problem seems happen to 24p only, not 50i or 60i. I wonder there is any error in calculating and making the render file of the effect for 24p.
Software configuration:
10.4.10, Final Cut Pro 6.0.1, Quicktime (most updated), KONA3 driver 4.0 (actually this problem happens to BMD MultiBridge/DeckLink Systems too)
Is it a "known" bug in FCP? or anyone get similar problem but have a solution to it?

GoldenHmmm....odd. I only saw this with P2 footage that was imported with FCP 5.0.4 and used in projects since upgraded to FCP 5.1. That little jitter at the end. I had that. I had to reimport all my footage under FCP 5.1.1 and it went away.
But that is NOT what you are dealing with...same issue, different footage, different version of FCP.

Media Encoder CC not using GPU acceleration for After Effects CC raytrace comp
I created a simple scene in After Effects that's using the raytracer engine... I also have GPU enabled in the raytracer settings for After Effects.
When I render the scene in After Effects using the built-in Render Queue, it only takes 10 minutes to render the scene.
But when I export the scene to Adobe Media Encoder, it indicates it will take 13 hours to render the same scene.
So clearly After Effects is using GPU accelleration but for some reason Media Encoder is not.
I should also point out that my GeForce GTX 660 Ti card isn't officially supported and I had to manually add it into the list of supported cards in:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC\Support Files\raytracer_supported_cards.txt
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder CC\cuda_supported_cards.txt
While it's not officially supported, it's weird that After Effects has no problem with it yet Adobe Media Encoder does...
I also updated After Effects to 12.1 and AME to 7.1 as well as set AME settings to use CUDA but it didn't make a difference.
Any ideas?That is normal behavior.
The "headless" version of After Effects that is called to render frames for Adobe Media Encoder (or for Premiere Pro) using Dynamic Link does not use the GPU for acceleration of the ray-traced 3D renderer.
If you are rendering heavy compositions that require GPU processing and/or the Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously multiprocessing, then the recommended workflow is to render and export a losslessly encoded master file from After Effects and have Adobe Media Encoder pick that up from a watch folder to encode into your various delivery formats. -
Hey guys, I'm really in a bind here and need some urgent help tonite. I would even be willing to pay for some actual help and not some vague information that i may not be able to understand if we could do something via skype or some other way that would be much quicker than a message board. Of course I have to have the project done by tomorow . so I'm new to fcpx, but have succesfully exported 2 other projects. I've also ran into this predicament before (error message not allowing me complete export) and have been able to solve that by converting the files i imported off my camera (canon g20) to a different file type (prores).
so where I'm at now: i have a 13 min short, all shot on my canon g20, imported and converted to prores422 with the brorsoft video converter with all the shots in a single event in fcpx. i'm using fcpx version 10.0.08. I have one main video track in my timeline that is completely full of very fast edits. (all quick 2-5 second clips, sped up shots in 2x, 4x, or 8x, tons of transitions, titles, and a little fx. theres 2 audio tracks, one is narration/speech and the other is an ongoing music track that constantly ducks everytime the subject speaks (tons of ducks/edits). Have you seen mtv cribs? Well i filmed an EXACT replica. So If you've seen one of those episodes, its literally the same exact same thing. I have all of my work completed, everything has been fully rendered, and i have it exactly as I want it.
I'm including all this information in case it may help. my successful projects ive exported in the past were rather simple, and this one is very complex and full of edits. here is what it looks like in the timeline:
Ive tried exporting the master file using almost all the different ways with no luck. My primary objective is to get it on youtube by any means by tommorow for a showing to a potential buyer (long story) and so I've been told using the h.264 is the best format for that. This, along with the other methods give me the same error message:
It think it gives this error message when i reach 24% everytime during export.
So first of all, what is that error message? Do i need to be concerned about the specifics of it, or is there something major that I'm missing? Like i said, i dont care how, but I need to get this video up on youtube tonite for an important viewing tomorrow. Conceptually, I think if i can figure this one out I shouldnt have any more trouble in the future doing something so basic, yet critical, such as exporting my 40+ hours of work for someone to see.
anyway, I apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge with this software, and for my extremely long winded question which will probably have the opposite effect for me as most wont want to take the time to read all this, BUT i figured if i was as thorough as possible it might help actually getting a concrete answer, instead of a "read the manual, exporting is on page 37." or "use the share button on the right of the timeline then just click export master file and it will work everytime."

Taphabitboom! that advice was correct and worked. i was able to export the full project as a quicktime movie and it can be uploaded to youtube.
NOTE, theres is definately quite a few noticeable audio glitches/lags/pops that werent there before doing this. I believe, and will test to make sure, that having a project such as this one needs to render before exporting. I'm not sure if the advice requires the project to be unrendered before exporting for a specific reason, because if it will export fine after rendering the project that's the way to go. like i said the edited version i have in my timeline plays back perfectly but this exported version has quite a few noticeable audio glitches (a few video glitches too). I'm going to retry doing the first few steps of your advice, but then at the end render, then export and compare the results...
OK, so this leads to a big question, Is this something that is standard for everyone when trying to export? If its not, what causes this error?
is there any way of preemptively avoiding it in future projects?

Setting up network rendering in After Effects CC
Hi there,
I finally have some free time on my hand and I´d like to use it to optimize our workflow.
We are a very small post-production shop and do a lot of projects parallel.
So one Issue obviously is, when I need my workstation to work but also need to render comps in AE.
We have a small farm setup for our 3DS Max renderings and now I´m trying to use it for after effects aswell.
We have all our files on a server, which all render nodes can access.
The only way so far I found to get things working:
1. Install After effects on the render nodes.
2. Place the "render only" text file.
3. Copy all necessary plugins.
4. Setup a watch folder.
5. Open AE project to render on my workstation.
6. Add comp to render queue, using "multi machine" settings, define output format and path.
The next part is the one I don´t like...:
7. Collect files using "Enable watchfolder render".
8. Wait til After effects copies gigabytes and gigabytes of footage files from a folder on our server to ANOTHER folder on the SAME server...
Why?
Why can´t I just leave the footage files sitting comfortably where they are accessible by all render nodes and instead have to collect them into another place?
There MUST be a way to avoid this, even if googling didn´t get me any answers so far...right?
And how can I automatically open the rendered sequence 8after its finished of course) in Adobe Media encoder and export it to the final movie format?ok,
sometimes checking your submenus can be really helpful..
For anyone wondering the same: in the "collect files" dialog there is a dropdown menu called "Collect source files". If you choose "None (Project Only)" it only saves the project to the watchfolder, so if all render nodes can access the source files on the server they will do exactly that and there is no need to copy huge amounts of render files anymore... -
For some reason photoshop can't find my GPU
So, for some reason everytime i launch Photoshop it gives me the error that some functions arent available because i didnt install my drivers or something, although i did. Another weird problem is that i cant tick '' Use Graphics Processor '' in the preferences section.
And, if i want to edit a file, everytime i edit something, it will crash, whether its text or if i want to make a new project. I tried clearing the cache, tried restalling it for like 4 times, tried to reinstall my drivers, but nothing worked. It kept crashing over and over.
Soo my question is, if anyone could help me fix it.

Caching, SSD's, improving RAM preview and rendering in After Effects CC
I've read a few posts and looked at some of the optimising After Effects for performance posts but I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on settings for helping getting the best performance out of After Effects for my setup. I'm like to be able to explore more advanced effects like Trapcode and things like that but for them to preview and render as quickly as I can... as I'm sure we all do.
I have a 12 Core Mac Pro 2012 with 64GB RAM, a SSD that I use just for the system, a 4TH HDD for all my files and projects and 2 new SSD's that I installed today that I thought I would use as a cache disk and and a disk for my renders.
I decided this based on these guidelines that I found:

If I set the Conformed media disk as another disk separate from my cache is that good for rendering and previews?

Just how much faster would things run with a new graphics card installed? Say a Nvidia Quadro K5000 for Mac? Is a GPU it worth investing in?

PREMIERE PRO SLOW & NO RT FOR SOME QUICKTIME MOV
My premiere pro is very slow when loading a project of 45.5 GB source files. It takes about four minutes to load this project of mpeg 2 HDV files which it captured from my Canon XH A1. The files are located on an eSATA RAID 0 HDD partitioned to 2TB and 1TB respectively and is powered by Mapower TB 32 Raid controller.
Secondly my Mercury Playback Engine is not offering real time playback on some quicktime mov files. The footage is really choppy when playing back in CS5. These files have been generated and rendered in after effects using Animation as the compression type @ 1440 x 1080 25fps. In addition to that I have some stock footage 1920 x 1080 24fps from Actionbacks which have an alpha channel. These files are not playing back in real time, despite having the EVGA GTX 285 2GB GPU. Please note that I get a yellow bar but no RT at all and I can't even render them to get the smooth playback required. Anyone knows qhy is this happening?
The software is installed on C drive 250GB HDD which is about 70GB free.
I have got a Matrox RT X2 card installed with the beta drivers which is also exhibiting the same problem. But this problem is non Matrox project.
Is there anything I can do to improve perfomance and realtime playback here. I have invested a lot in my current system to the extend that I am now very disapoointed with the current perfomance.
