The volume button is not working.
Can I take the device to any Apple store in the U.S. for this to be resolved?supergabu wrote:

We wouldn't know that answer. You'll know when you take in to the Apple store to have it looked at. -
MY IPAD screen is unresponsive. I tried to reset by pressing the power button for a long a few seconds but it is not responding either.
Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected. -
What's the button for on the right side of the ipad2 over the volume button?
I have found a button over the volume button on the upper right hand side of the ipad2. Where I push up on down a bell appears. What is this for? How does it work. Thank you for your patience.

The Volume Button, Again
Hi All!
I am running a new iNtel iMac 20 iNch. it has 512 stock RAM. The volume button on the keyboard I would describe as sticky at best. Once it actually stalled my whole machine & then pinwheeled for a while. If I push it for the first time while watching a movie in, sya, DVD Player it will hestiate a good second. It seems after that I get instant response time for about 20 seconds, then it goes back to being "idle" and is no longer instant.
Does OSX just give it a really low-thread priority to the CPU? is there anyway to increase this? For someone who uses itunes, garageband, imovie & Skype constantly this issue of a non-instantaneous volume control is a real bugger. I do not think it is unreasonable to ask this system to preform instantaneously when it comes to volume. Yes, i could put more RAM inside, but I shouldnt have to, not for volume.
Honestly my My PIII 300mhz 98MG RAM Laptop (that I upgraded from a week ago!) was better at handling volume than my State of the Art iMac. That is not Hyperbole. I am being totally serious.
So how do I fix this problem?
Thank you
J
PS
strangly enough, the "mute" button is instant. My workaround has been to mute everything before i change the volume. This tends to make things easier.Simple answer to thi is that you need more ram. It is beyond me why Apple decided to put 512mb in. The same thing happens with my Power Book G4 1.5GHZ before I put a Gig in it. The RAM is getting overloaded with simple requests and takes a while to respond to commands. When my Power Book was running on 256MB of RAM if took 20-30 seconds for volume response, and Id get the spinning beach ball all the time.
Only thing you can do is buy more memory. -
Ok I have an fully upgraded iPad 2 and the volume button don't work but it do with headphones can someone help. I try to go to settings and the volume won't go up there either I have the home button gesture and still the same. I try resting my iPad and nothing no sound work unless I have my headphones in. Do anybody know how to fix this
Did you try rebooting the iPad? You will need to have some battery power for this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

My volume button for higher volume is not working
I think there is a Windows bootcamp application that will recognize those keys. The bootcamp stuff is here: http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
I think it is called bootcamp assistant. Look here: http://www.mac-guides-and-solutions.com/boot-camp-assistant.html -

Hello Hartnett01,
Thank you for the details you provided regarding your audio issue you are experiencing on your iPad. I found a couple of resources that I think might help.
First, I recommend following steps in the following tutorial to address an issue like this (you can skip step 2 "Recharge iPad" because it's not related to this issue):
Frozen or unresponsive iPad
https://www.apple.com/support/ipad/assistant/ipad/
If the issue persists, I recommend reviewing this article next (the title of the article refers to an iPhone, but the steps still apply to an iPad):

New macbook pro fail to respond to the power button
Why did my new macbook pro fail to respond to the power button?
I have a new 13" MacBook Pro Retina (10.9.1) which I have been using for about 3 weeks. I am new to Mac and am in the process of making the transition from Windows XP.
Today, with the battery at 100% and the power lead disconnected, I left the mac with the lid closed but, when I returned, it did not come back to like when I opened the lid. Also, it would not respond to the power button.
After some web searching, I managed to get it back to life after resetting the SMC.
Is this a software problem, or is it more likely to be a hardware problem?Highly unlikely that software is involved - especially since resetting the SMC corrected the problem.
Unless it happens again, I would forget it. If it occurs again, take it in for warranty service.

My iphone4 is 2 and 1/2 yrs old, works fine other then the volume buttons just stopped working all of sudden. This function not working means I cannot hear people very well when they call because I cannot turn the volume up and when watching footage i.e. music video or film, I cannot turn volume up or down. This has meant I cannot use my phone like I used to, therefore not fit for purpose. Questions is - Is Apple, under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 obliged to repair/replace my phone for free?
When I went into my Bromley store today I was told because the phone is not under the 12 month warranty Apple could not help me or I could pay in excess of £100 to get phone repaired, is this right?sunshinesunshine wrote:
So basically if a iphone has a fault after the 1 year warranty period is over, there is nothing the consumer can do but purchase a new phone??
Pretty much. Except that Apple will replace it for a fixed fee that is far less than the cost of a new phone. In the US the replacement cost for an iPhone 4 is $149. It is comparable in the UK. Unless you can prove that the fault was present at the time of purchase. A switch wearing out would probably be considered normal wear and tear, not a "fault". -
i dropped my ipad mini and the left side got dented .. so the volume buttons and the mute is not working anymore .... and when i am playing games the volume automatically goes up... i still have warranty .. so does apple replace a new one?

AppleCare+ for iPad extends your coverage to two years from the original purchase date of your iPad and adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a $49 service fee. Note: AppleCare+ must be purchased within 30 days of the date you bought your new iPad.

I purchased my iPhone new in November. Recently it has been shutting itself off at random times. Registering that it needed to be charged although it had 50 -80% left on the battery. It was pointed out that the screen is bowing out by the volume buttons. After doing some research online it looks like an expanding battery. Has any one else ran into this problem? What would cause this?
hi,
i would go to the genius bar, thats definitely not a common problem with the iphone.
but lithium accus are known for such problems (e.g. model flight), they can expand when there is something not working well.
