    I haven’t been able to find any.
    Since the .m4v file type appears to prevent any video bought or rented from the iTunes Store from being played using any other program the lack of these picture controls - if indeed they are lacking - make it seriously deficient as a video player.

    I know that it’s possible to adjust the monitor’s performance via System Preferences but it is rather long-winded and I’d rather not alter the settings for the entire screen (and then have to change them all back once finished) when it’s only the video playback window that needs adjustment.
    Since iTunes provides various options using the Equalizer for adjusting sound playback it seems rather odd that they don’t have a similar panel for video.
    Regarding QuickTime.
    Apparently earlier versions (such as 7) had picture controls but the current version (10.4) does not.
    I assume Apple are phasing out QT whose development seems to have stopped - or rather gone backwards since it now lacks capabilities it once had - and intend in future to treat iTunes as their universal media player which no doubt makes sense from their point of view.
    I wasn’t aware of the .m4v file type when I made my first and probably last video purchase via iTunes yesterday and didn’t realise that it would restrict my options for playback so completely.
    The experience has really put me off buying any additional video from the iTunes Store.
    Back to DVDs.

  • 3315 - Number of rings before diversion to voicema...

    Is there any way of setting the number of rings before diversion to voicemail?
    Currently my 3315 rings about 6 times and then diverts. This is too quick for me and I want to make it (say) 12 rings.
    I cannot find anything on this function in the owner's guide.

    I also received this belated but nicely detailed response from Nokia Support, so I'm posting it here for posterity:
    In response to your enquiry, the extension of a ring time is a network related feature. Hence, network features are not listed in the phone's user guide.
    You may contact your network provider to request for the ringing time to be extended to the maximum time (normally its 30 seconds).
    If this has been done, you can check if the time delay has been set to the maximum time from the phone.
    1) Menu>scroll to Call Divert and press select
    2) Scroll to Divert if not answered and press Select
    3) select Activate and press OK
    4) select Voice mailbox number and press OK
    At this point, if the call feature has been activated, you will be able to see step (5) as per below. Otherwise, contact your network provider to request them to activate the call divert service and repeat the steps.
    5) Active:Voice Calls, press Details
    6) scroll to Delay and press OK
    7) You will be able to see the time in which the phone will ring before diverting the call to your voice mailbox.

  • Dell E7450 keyboard problem

    I recently purchased an E7450 in Turkey and right arrow/end button made a different clicking sound than the other keys -right out of the box-. I wasn't particularly concerned until (after about 1.5 months of use) the key dislodged and I saw that the connector underneath was broken. 
    I called Dell Support (which is supposed to provide next day on-site service) and I was expecting a call and a visit the next day. However it has been 2 weeks now and today (in response to my enquiry) I was told that they do not have any keyboards in stock, it is expected to ship from abroad and they can not give me an expected repair date.
    I am exteremely disappointed with the level of service particularly:
    - not a single keyboard being in stock in the whole country (Turkey)
    - not being informed about the progress and not being provided with an expected repair date 

    Update on the issue: It has been 34 days now and finally a technician arrived - albeit with a wrong part! So it has been almost 5 weeks now without any solution from Dell.
    It is a great machine, unfortunately I can not say the same thing about the service. I think anyone considering purchasing a Dell Latitude should be aware that even with a small problem their machine might be out of use for a prolonged period.

  • N80 and Motorola IHF1000 Bluetooth car kit

    Hi all,
    I've been unable to get my Nokia N80 to correctly pair with the standard bluetooth car kit supplied with the car. I have also downloaded the latest firmware, but this does not seem to rectify the issue.
    Is there another solution instead of moving to another phone manufacturer?

  • HP smart print not working

    I am using windows 7 64 bit desktop HPE 150F pavilion Elite, IE 11, I uninstalled HP web printing software as it would not work, tried to install the new Smart Web print software but it will not download. I have tried to uninstall IE11 but it does not show in control panel to remove it so that I can use IE10.
    Can anyone suggest how I can get web printing software to download, and how to uninstall IE 11 and put in IE 10 instead.

    Hi emma22, it looks like you have received a response to your enquiry about removing IE 11, and downgrading to IE 10. Regarding your Smart Web print software, it appears as though it has been replaced with HP Smart Print:  HP Smart Web Printing Software Replaced by HP Smart Print.

    I was doing exactly as you said, but I was missing one important action. I was not saving the duration change by hitting the enter key.
    Pretty bloomin obvious you will probably say!!
    That just leaves the broken title legend on some of the titling options. But I can live with that.

  • Audible bookmarks still getting lost?????

    I was thinking of getting a new 80gig ipod. However, I listen to audiobooks a lot, as well as music. I just looked to see if the problem of lost bookmarks has been fixed. I'm somewhat stunned to see many posts from people STILL having this issue. Why is this so hard to fix?
    Losing a bookmark is a huge pain. Sure, I can scroll quickly around the book, but it takes quite a while to find the spot where I was last. This issue happens less with the nano, but still happens there too.
    And while I'm at it, how about bookmarking the chapters, and displaying them?? I just don't understand why apple doesn't get around to making the audiobook experience more pleasing--after all, they sell the books on their own site!
    If Audible supported any other player but the ipod, I would certainly try it.
    Oh well. I guess I'll skip the new 80 gig...

    Does anyone know if you can add on speed camera and traffic information onto the navigation software pre-loaded for use on the N95 8GB ??

    I emailed nokia for an answer and had the following reply

  • 9 months, 3 engineers and still not working!!

    I am desperate to see if anyone can help.  Our BT vision On Demand service does not work in the evening (4pm onwards) or at peak times on a weekend.  When we first got is installed about 3 years ago it worked great without any problems.  About 9 months ago we started to experience some stuttering when trying to use the replay function and it continued to deteriorate to the point where at evenings and weekends it won't even play at all.  To date I have phoned the help line on numerous occasions (to be told endlessly to do all the usual things despite the fact that it used to work and I have checked the hub, wiring and set up about 100 times). I have had 3 engineers out who tell me that I have a great speed, which should not drop below the minimum required even at peak times. They have tried fitting an 'accelerator' to our line which did nothing, and then told me that it was probably because I live in a large house with a lot of plug sockets!! (As flattered as I was I don't think the house is overly large having only 4 bedrooms).  We are now unable to use the replay function at all unless I keep the children off school for the day when it appears to work.  I tried contacting BT Customer help by email and was eked to do a speed test when we were experiencing the problem.  The results of the speed test were as follows:
    Best effort test 5859Kbps
    Assured rate test 1055Kpbs
    To date I have not received any response to my enquiry with the exception of an automated confirmation email.
    To complicate matters even more, my husband tried to play the vision on demand yesterday evening and it would not work, he then went upstairs and was able to watch frozen planet on iplayer with no problem.  Surely if the internet was 'busy' this would have affected iplayer as well.
    I cannot seem to find anyone in BT who can help me sort this problem out.  I am currently paying for a service that I can't use, the only help line I appear to be able to call is in India and they only have a help screen to follow, and the engineers that come out can offer no explanation for the problem.
    BT Vision is fantastic when it works and offers so many more advantages over Sky (no adverts for children, replay function etc) however at the moment I am feeling seriously let down by BT and the technical support they offer.
    I would be really grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction or offer any assistance.

  • I updated to 1.9.2.15, response Platform version 1.9.2 13 incompatible with 1.9.2.15. Unistalled everything, tried again fron clean PC, same result!!

    I was informed of 1.9.2.15 upgrade, accepted and it downloaded in the normal manner. When I tried to launch Firefox at the end of the install the on screen response was "platform version 1.9.2.13 is incompatible with min> 1.9.2.15, max< 1.9.2.15.
    Tried a second time from EU download site, no difference. Uninstalled Firefox, still same result. cleared PC of all Firefox programs, and any other firefox related file, cleared Registry and Folders. Checked that "Search" gave a negative to a Firefox enquiry. Downloaded again and still have the same on screen reply, I am forced to use IE8 (for the moment!!)

    Have you tried following the instructions at [[Installing Firefox on Windows]] and used the official site for downloads http://www.getfirefox.com/
    Note the latest version is '''Firefox 3.6.15 ''' ( user agent string - on my system - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; '''rv:1.9.2.15''') Gecko/20110303 Firefox/3.6.15 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET4.0E) )
    Perhaps someone else can provide better advice, but I do not expect an incompatability message if you have no firefox currently installed. I wonder whether you are trying to install and search from a limited account . You must use an administrative account.

    The mails which are sent as notification e-mails are in HTML format.
    Probably the mail client on your PC is not able to render the HTML (might be some settings that you need to check in your mail client).
