No results with Search in 9.0.2

None of our searches (advanced search, basic search and custom search) are working. It doesn't work to find a name of a page and no keywords either. What could be the problem?

When using Oracle Text for searching, the indexes need to be re-syncronized when new content is added in order for the search to be returned.
This has always been the case with Oracle Text. There maybe a job in your portal to syncronize the indexes, which you may want to make more frequent if you are adding a lot of content.
If your search is not returning content which you know exists try re-syncronizing your indexes.
When you search using oracle text the main keyword will search any text attribute, i.e. text content, display name, description etc.

  • Text search returns results with some keywords, but not others

    This pertains to a tours website for Turkey. I've sucessfully
    set up a search form, and results page which returns results when
    multiple keywords are entered. Everything is working well, except
    when certain keywords are used. For example, the table column being
    searched for is called long_itinerary, so if anyone is interested
    in a certain site or city, it's bound to be in the long itinerary
    somewhere.
    Here's the problem, by example: When someone searches with
    the keywords Antalya, Konya, Ankara, or Adana, for example, results
    are returned from the database, and those keywords are in each
    returned tour's long itinerary.
    But certain keywords return nothing, even when they're in
    practically all of the tours, in the long_itinerary column. For
    example, Istanbul, Ephesus, and Izmir, Kusadasi and Pergamum return
    no results, even though they're there. I've gone through all of the
    most likely keywords, and these are the offenders. If, for example,
    I search with "Istanbul Ankara," I get results with tours including
    Ankara (and Istanbul, but only because the word "Ankara" is in the
    itinerary).
    First I made sure the Charset values were the same on the
    search form page and the results page. Still had the problem. Next,
    I went into the database itself, and copied the word "Istanbul"
    directly from the long_itinerary column of the database, and pasted
    it into the search function's text field, and searched again. Same
    problem--no results returned.
    I can't see any difference between the keywords which work
    correctly, and those which don't, what baffles me is that even when
    I copy a keyword directly from the database and paste it in the
    search text field, it returns no results!
    Well, I'm baffled! Any ideas what might cause this?

    Hmm -- one of my customers is a turkish building company
    (Kusadasi BTW), and when *they* add some contents to the DB,
    they´ll be entering turkish chars. It´s in particular the
    turkish "I" which is pretty different, and this is when a search
    for keywords containing a western "I" will fail.
    Could that be the problem in your case ?

    Sadly, nothing out of the ordinary. The search tool here doesn't allow for the use of AND.

  • Stuck with search query

    I am trying to search the whole record if any of the word matches with existing data in the rows of columns.
    First I was trying the following code:
    SQL> select prod from prod where prod like '%chromium ore%'
      2  /
    PROD
    chromium ore andconcentrates, ferro-chrome, silico-chrome
    chromium ore andconcentrates, ferro-chrome, silica-chrome, metal

    chromium ore andconcentrates, ferro-chrome, silico-chrome

    chromium ore andconcentrates, ferro-chrome, silico-chrome
    6 rows selected.
    SQL> select prod from prod where prod like '%what is chromium ore%';
    no rows selected
    SQL> select count(unique(co_id)) from prod where (prod like upper('%ferro%') or prod like lower('%ferro%') or prod like initcap('%ferro%'));

    Hi,
    Whenever you have a question, it helps to post:
    (1) The version of Oracle (and any other relevant software) you're using
    (2) A little sample data (just enough to show what the problem is) from all the relevant tables
    (3) The results you want from that data
    (4) Your best attempt so far (formatted)
    Executable SQL statements (like "CREATE TABLE AS ..." or "INSERT ..." statements) are best for (2).
    If you can present your problem using commonly available tables (for example, tables in scott schema, or views in the data dictionary), then you can omit (2).
    Formatted tabular output is okay for (3).
    This does what you requested in Oracle 10 (and up):
    SELECT  prod
    FROM     prod
    WHERE     REGEXP_LIKE ( ' ' || prod || ' '
                  , '([^[:alnum:]]'
                    || REPLACE ( 'what is chromium ore'
                         , '[^[:alnum:]])|([^[:alnum:]]'
                    || '[^[:alnum:]])'
                 );If the string containing all the target words ('what is chromium ore' in the example above) contains some special characters (such as '.' or '*') the results might not be what you expect.

  • Master Detail with Search

    Hi All,
    I have created a Master (Form with Navigation buttons) - Detail (table) with search region.
    Intially both regions show no data as expected.
    When I search for an entry in Master region - It shows the data in Master but not in Details region.
    When I click Next in the Master then I can see details in the Table.
    Now if I click Prev in the Master I can see the details in the Table.
    If I tried to search for new data , Master form gets refreshed but details table will not get refreshed till I click on navigation buttons.
    (I think details is getting refreshed on Navigation button Events)
    If I don't have any search region.. Both Master and Details get initial load works fine.
    I tried creating Master(table)/ Detail(table) with search region on top of them.
    No data resulted.. :( after querying the data. (As there are no navigation none of the tables get refreshed).
    Pl. let me how to get the details get data based on Master.
    Thanks,
    Satya

    Shay,
    I did set the page Refresh between two areas.
    It works fine if I click on Navigation button Next, Prev.
    This happens only if I have Search bean on top to search master.
    Thanks,
    Satya

  • Problem with search and replace

    I'm workin on Windows XP, Dreamwearver 8
    When I do a search and replace in a site, the changes will be
    made correctly, however, the auto date stamp that I'm using on my
    pages will duplicate on random pages and overwrite text This
    doesn't occur on all pages, and isn't connected with the actual
    change I'm making. Has anyone experienced this?

    Ok Gary, but...
    in a SQLWorksheet write:
    ababab
    Now Edit -> Replace search for b , replace with \nb
    Result (the last b is not replaced):
    a
    ba
    bab
    At this point, I want to have my string back on one line: Edit -> Replace search for \n , replace with (nothing here)
    Result: The search text "\n" was not found.
    And to make it work I have to tick the Regular Expressions checkbox (in this case substitute escaped characters is ignored).
    While I agree that "it is good to have a choice", I personally find it confusing: none of the few text editors I use (Linux or OSX) behaves this way.
    Regards.

  • Is there a way to promote results with exact match?

    Hi,
    Is there a way to promote (like add results block or something) results with exact match over results that match?
    (when stemming is on, so the search consider also words with morpholgy match, and sometimes display them at the top, and wWe want to put in top of the results a block of results with exact match)
    keren tsur

    HI,
    Yes you can promote the result with exact match.....
    1. Navigate to the search center
    2. Navigate to the search result setting page and click to the Query rule as per your scope.
    3. Create the new query rule depend upon your result source.
    4. Give the query rule name. Under the Query Condition-> select "Advanced Query Text Match"-> Select Option that you want form matches input->Make the Check box "Entire Query Matches Exactly".
    5. Create the promoted results and Result block as per your description.
    6. save the Query rule and apply the query rule to your search vertical.

  • How to display item procedure results in Search results?

    I have a custom item type based on Image that displays a thumbnail instead of the image itself. This is accomplished using a procedure call and displaying the results with the item and modifying the region attributes to omit the image, but when the items appear in search results, the procedure results are not displayed.
    How do I get an item's procedure results to display in search results?
    TIA

    Are you asking how to pivot the results of the query? Do a search for horizontal looping. If that's not what you are asking, please provide more details.

  • Creating result based search programatically

    Hi All,
    I am trying to create a simple result based search programmatically. I need to do this because I want the user to basically be able to select a specific table name and then the search adjusts the criteria and results automatically based on the table selected. If you like it is a generic query mechanism.
    I have attempted to do this by declaratively setting up the query region as far as possible and then adding the table fields and binding them to a VO instance that I have created (I also create the view definition programatically)
    The query region renders and the go and clear buttons are available, the result table renders and if I do a blind query it works fine and the result appear. The problem I have is that for the fields in the table that have queriable set to yes, the search region is not rendering the search fields.
    This is what I have done (all in process request for now to get it working)
    OADBTransactionImpl dbTx = (OADBTransactionImpl)am.getTransaction();
    OAViewDef viewDef = dbTx.createViewDef();
    viewDef.setViewObjectClass("oracle.apps.fnd.framework.server.OAViewObjectImpl");
    viewDef.setViewRowClass("oracle.apps.fnd.framework.server.OAViewRowImpl");
    viewDef.addSqlDerivedAttrDef("RECORD_ID","RECORD_ID","java.lang.String",Types.VARCHAR,false,true,AttributeDef.READONLY);
    viewDef.addSqlDerivedAttrDef("RUNTIME_KEY","RUNTIME_KEY","java.lang.String",Types.VARCHAR,false,true,AttributeDef.READONLY);
    viewDef.addSqlDerivedAttrDef("STATUS","STATUS","java.lang.String",Types.VARCHAR,false,true,AttributeDef.READONLY);
    viewDef.setSql(sqlStmt);
    am.createViewObject("InterfaceTableVO1",viewDef);
    OATableBean tableBean = (OATableBean)webBean.findChildRecursive("InterfaceTableVO1");
    OAMessageStyledTextBean leaf = null;
    leaf=(OAMessageStyledTextBean)createWebBean(pageContext,MESSAGE_STYLED_TEXT_BEAN,null,"RECORD_ID");
    leaf.setViewUsageName("InterfaceTableVO1");
    leaf.setViewAttributeName("RECORD_ID");
    leaf.setWrapEnabled(false);
    leaf.setPrompt("RECORD_ID");
    leaf.setQueryable(true);
    tableBean.addIndexedChild(leaf);
    The query bean and table have been defined declaratively, my hope was when I added the leaf nodes to the table with query able set to true that the framework would automatically figure the bindings out but it doesn't seem to be doing this.
    Could this be a UIX rendering problem that I need to get around somehow?
    Thanks
    Keith

    anyone got any ideas on this one?

  • Problems with Search in Contacts (Public folder favourite)

    Office Version:Office 2010Operating System:Windows 7
    I am running Outlook 2010, connecting to an SBS2003 server by HTTP and running in Cached mode.
    My business contacts are stored in a Public Folder, and my personal contacts in my local Contacts folder.
    The Public Folder is in my Favourites, and is designated an 'Outlook Address Book'
    'Download Public Folder Favourites' is enabled in the Exchange Mail Account settings
    I am having problems with Search (which was never a problem in Outlook 2007).
    If I select the Contacts shortcut, under 'My Contacts I have listed in order:
    Suggested Contacts
    Office Contacts (this is my public folder favourite)
    Contacts
    Search Results
    If I select the Office Contacts link, and attempt to search for a contact whose contact card I can actually see on the screen, the search will fail. The scope is defaulting to 'All Contact Items' (which is fine), but if I change this to 'Current Folder'
    then the contact is immediately found.
    In OL2007 I could search for a contact, even when not in a contact folder, and it would find every instance of it immediately.
    Any ideas here? I have been told to rebuild my index, which I will do over the weekend as it will take some time. But I have doubts it will make much difference. This is a new machine with a fresh installation of Win7 x64 and Office 2010.
    thanks

    Keith, I have this same issue here.  I looked on the Small Business Server pages for an answer as suggested by Xiu but could not find any.  I'm not sure why this would be a SBS issue as we are not running SBS and have this issue.
    For some reason, "All Contact Items" doesn't include the current folder if it is a public folder.
    Did you ever get an answer/solution?

    Grzegorz, I'm going to guess this is a problem with the version you're using. We're using 2007.0.620 and whenever we hit enter on the field instead of the search button itself it returns no results. As far as I can tell, it's a bug in the system.
    It looks like updating to the latest version (624) isn't helpful either, although both 620 and 624 remove that nasty explosion that you're getting and instead just return the same page with no search results.
    There may be a way to edit some code-behind to detect when a postback is being made, although given the locked nature of Web Tools I doubt it. If you can find a way to have the button be recognized, let me know - otherwise, I'd say it's a bug that needs to be addressed in the next version.
