No Ring on iPhone

I can't get my iPhone 4s to ring. Just started doing this. I receive the call but no ring notification. I have volume set at a high level. Any suggestions?

Check to make sure the silent switch isn't activated. It's above the volume controls on your phone. If you see orange then it is on silent.

In other phones, you can hear the phone ringing and if it was connected to bluetooth, you could pick up the call from the bluetooth headset.
Here with iphone, if its connected to bluetooth headset, it only rings through the headset, which means that if you dont have the headset in the ear all the time, you cannot know that you have an incoming call or message.
Any ideas - solutions - comments please?

I'm having the same problem. I had a plantronics 975 (which I lost, sadly). When connected, the ringer would always be routed through the bluetooth and the iPhone's external speaker. When in silent mode, the iPhone would only vibrate, but I could still hear the ringer in the bluetooth.
I just bought a new Plantronics Voyager+. Now when it's connected, all sounds are routed to the earpiece - including the taps, etc. The iPhone's speaker doesn't ring at all, unless the bluetooth is disconnected or powered off. I'd really like to be able to hear both, like I was before. This is an iPhone 3G running iOS 4 (latest version, not sure what it is exactly). Haven't updated software/firmware in between bluetooths, just changed the earpiece.

You could get a Google voice account and have it forwarded to your iPhone (and other phones). This would effectively give your iPhone the capability of receiving calls to 2 different numbers and making calls from 2 different numbers. Although the Google voice capabilities on iPhone are somewhat awkward.

Ring both iphone and MAc from Ipod

My son tried face time from his ipod which obviously requires him to call using an email address. The problem is it only rings my Mac now that I have installed facetime. Can it ring both iPhone and Mac, or do I need to delete facetime from my Mac?

If he calls your iPhone phone number and selects FaceTime, the iPhone will ring. If he calls your email address, the Mac will ring. Right now there is no way to ring both simultaneously.

Purchasing Ring Tones iPhone vs. Verizon vs. iTunes

So I finally bit the bullet and I am enjoying my new iPhone of 2 days! Why is it so hard to spend money on the Verizon website?! I belong to the "fortunate ones" whose children pay their parents phone bills! However, the extras etc. I want to handle...

Not really sure what could have possibly happened with your experience with iTunes in the past...if your computer crashed and you didn't do routine backups of your library (either using discs or an external hard drive) then your music would have been lost. Not sure if that's what you're saying happened though. If it was then unfortunately that was a mistake on your part because apple did not at that time store your purchases or allow you to redownload your purchases. Depending on how old your iTunes version is on your computer then the differences of the latest iTunes would be vastly different. You can go to the apple.com website to read more about it to see if it helps. If you currently use the the iCloud feature then you will have access to any of your iTunes purchases and can redownload them to any iOS device you may have or to your computer but you will need to update your iTunes for the ability to download past items to your computer. If you aren't using iClouds then you would need to use iTunes on the computer for any device backups or syncing. Ultimately, if you aren't familiar with current iTunes capabilities or iCloud (or any other features associated with iOS 5 and your new iPhone) then you would greatly benefit from looking the owners manual for your iPhone. You can find it on the apple website at www.apple.com/support and clicking on the manuals link...there your should find the manual for your device which you can save to your computer for future viewing or just go to the site as needed. You can also view the manual on your iPhone by going to Safari on your iPhone and looking at the bookmarks that has the user guide as one of the bookmarks. Sorry if I misunderstood what trouble or issues you were saying you had with iTunes in the past. Glad you were able to find whatever you needed to get the ringtone you wanted.

Skype does not ring with iphone 4 ios5

I recently upgraded my iphone 4 to ios5, but apparently whenever i receive a skype call, it does not ring anymore.

Sorry, I don't use Skype. You might try a couple of standard troubleshooting steps, though. First, try resetting the phone by pressing the Home and power buttons until the silve apple appears. If that doesn't solve the problem, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. You may also want to contact Skype's support to see if they have any suggestions.

IPad rings when iPhone rings since iOS8 upgrade

I have an iPad (Model MC774LL/A) and an iPhone 6, both of which I have updated to the latest iOS 8. Since that update, whenever my phone rings (incoming phone call, not a FaceTime call), my iPad also rings.
FaceTime allows such dual ringing, but my problem occurs for non-FaceTime phone calls as well. Also, this problem did not occur prior to the iOS update.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any thoughts on how I can stop my iPad from ringing?

If you are still out there, do two things, mark your question as solved so that if someone else sees it, they will know how you solved it and ..... make sure that you also turn the feature off on your iPhone. Actually, as long as you turn it off on the phone, the calls will not go to any other devices even if the feature is turned on for those devices.

That would be an option set by your cellular provider. You would need to check with them to determine if this can be changed.

White ring around iPhone screen

The screen on my friend's iPhone 4s suddenly has a white ring around the screen. Looks something like the photo below. Why would that suddenly appear? Is there any at-home fix?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). However, I doubt any of that will help as I strongly suspect the issue is caused by either a hardware failure or user inflicted damage.

No text ring for Iphone 4 with IOS 5?

I upgraded my Verizon 4 iphone to IOS 5.01 and the text ring no longer works. It only vibrates when a text comes in. Any ideas? Every other alert works fine.

FYI: It seems it was a network problem with my WinXP PC. After complete deletion and new installation of XP and iTunes my iPhone will be recognized correctly, Wifi synchronization works (mostly) fine.

HT201401 Incoming calls do not ring on iPhone, only vibrate. All settings are selected for ringtone to be audible, I have restarted phone, went back to factory settings, still no sound on incoming calls.

Incoming calls are not heard, only vibrate. I have reset the phone back to factory settings and still do not get any ring tone sounds for any incoming calls. The phone only vibrates. I have checked all setting including volume and do not get any sounds from the phone on incoming calls.

Check the Mute / Silent Switch on the side of the phone...

Cannot Change Ringer Volume, Iphone 4

I am having some issues with the ringer volume on my iphone 4.
Cannot change the ringer volume with the side buttons, when I press them the ringer volume icon apperas but with no bars underneath it and unable to change it.
I have Ringer & Alert set to Change with Buttons.
However I have seen that when I press the home button twice and swipe to the mirroring icon this phone does not have itself in the list, but has my Apple TV's and the Dock Connector. IN my other iPhone it has the iphone.
I cannot chnage it from the Dock Connector setting.
Any idea on a fix. Did a full restore and this did not help.

Here is how I got mine to work again:
I plugged in the earbuds and made sure I can hear the sound from the earbuds then I just simply unplugged the earbuds and it worked! Hope this help you!

IOS 5.1 disables ring on iphone 4

Hardware: iphone 4 Model MD127LL
Network: AT&T
IOS: 5.1 (9B176)
After upgrading to IOS 5.1, All incoming calls produce No Ring.
This is obviously unacceptable, has been reported by others,
yet there seems to be no workaround or fix...
Suggestions?
Tried:
Power Cycle / reset.
Changing ringtones.
Verifed that ringtones still produce sound (in Settings : Sounds)
Verfied that Settings : Sounds : Change with Buttons is enabled and works.

As you pointed out, turning on Compass in Location Services will only provide you the Longitude and Latitude on on the compass interface.
To enable the "True North" option you will have to turn on the "Compass Calibration". It is located in the "System Services" menu.
iOS5: Settings > Location Services > System Services
iOS6: Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services
Based on the test I just did (iPhone4 iOS6), both "Compass" and "Compass Calibration" have to be turned on for the "True North" option to be enabled in the Compass app.
