No ringtone sound

I set my ringtone, "strum", which sounds good, volume is high. When someone calls me no sound! I can see the incoming call, vibrate works, can answer calls OK, all ok but no ringtone sounds when caller calls me. Please advise! Thanks

Almost certainly have the phone in silent mode - check the slide button on the side and if you see a red dot you have inadvertnetly switched to silent mode.

  • Why is the Lumia Icon's ringtone lower than when previewing the ringtone in settings/system/ringtone sounds? (The volume is set at 30 in all cases.)

Why is the Lumia Icon's (929) ringtone lower than when previewing the ringtone in settings/system/ringtone+sounds? (The volume is set at 30 in all cases.)

    Hello Lena,
    Yes, tried all those things.
After going back and forth with Verizon's "tier 2" technical support over the last 2 days, a chat session with Nokia, no call-backs-as-promised by your technicians, then having them reinstall the phone's software -that didn't fix the problem. So they are sending me a re-manufactured replacement phone. But not a NEW ONE, because I didn't realize the problem within 14 days. You see at first, I just figured the phone had lousy volume, until I was previewing ringtones when setting the alarm clock. The phone is about one and a half months old. I have expressed my desire that a NEW phone be sent, but NO says Verizon.
I've spent enough time, in good faith, Verizon would solve this matter, but in the process of their re-installing the software they've screwed up Backup Assistant.
    Thanks.

  • C5 - Ringtone sound deformation problem :(

I have huge problem with Ringtones sound in my C5.
It runs under 031.022 firmware, which is the latest version available in Polish Ovi Suite.
    Background info:
-> MP3 tracks play normally. Both on earphones and C5's speaker.
-> SMS alarms have normal sound when messages are coming and inside settings section.
-> Ringtones in settings section play normally.
    What's the problem:
-> When someone calls, ANY ringtone is totally messed up. Original Nokia ones or my MP3's, it doesn't make a difference.
It sounds like it has some flanger effect on it. It's broken and unbearable to listen.
I suppose it's a problem with a software, not with a hardware, because C5's speakers work fine while playing MP3's, SMS alarms or even Ringtones in settings section.
I've reinstalled firmware using Ovi Suite. This operation went fine, but it didn't help a bit.
    Is there any solution?

back up your data and try reset
type in *#7370# security code is 12345
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Why does the ringtone sound worse AFTER I download it?

    Hi guys,
I'm having an odd issue. I just bought three ringtones direct on my iPhone 4S from the iTunes 'Tones' section, and when I set them as ringtones and preview them on the phone they sound really crappy. When I previewed them in the 'Tones' section and streamed them the sound was full and clear. Any ideas?
    Much appreciated,
    Sacha

I have exactly the same problem, the best way of describing the problem is that the ringtones sound very tinny, possibly distorted like they've completely lost the bass and much of the lower midrange.
Like Sacha I've purchased 2 ring tones from the iTunes store within my iPhone 4S (Nicki Minay - Super Bass, and The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra - Star Trek the Motion Picture), within the store they sound great but as soon as their assigned to ring tones they sound awful.  At first I assumed that the downloads must have been poorly compressed or something but I've since confirmed they play great on my PC.
I've also noticed something even more odd, if I use the ringtone as a text message tone on the iPhone one of them sounds great as it should but the other ones won't even play, very strange!  I've had a look at the tones on my PC and both are 30 seconds long, and both are compressed to 256kbps at 44.1khz so no obvious differences.  I've recompressed them to alternative bit rates but nothing seems to make a difference to the sound quality as a ring tone.
I've since tried both ringtones on my Wifes iPhone 4 and her's exhibits the same problems so not a handset or iPhone 4s specific issue.  It sounds to me like a software bug in iOS5?

  • Ringtone sounds not working correctly

I don't know what happened to the ringtone sounds on my iPhone 3gs. I'm wondering if there's something wrong in the settings.

What does "not working correctly" mean?
    Is the silent switch on?

  • The specific ringtone I assigned to a contact is not working. Only the default ringtone sounds off.

I'm using an iPhone 5s. The app I'm using on my iPhone is simply titled Ringtones with an orange music note inside a grey circle. I have assigned certain app created ringtones to specific contacts. However when one of those contacts calls me ONLY the main / general / default ringtone sounds off. I know the tones work because if they are assigned as the default ringtone that specific tone plays. I have tried other ringtones that were included on the iPhone (NOT app created) and those work when assigned to contacts. So it seems it's only the app created ringtones are not working when assigned to specific contacts. So far I've tried to correct the problem by:
    1) Removing ringtones from phone and then downloading them again.
    2) I've tried rebooting or performing a soft reset (pressing and holding the home button & power button until the apple logo appears).
    Anyone have any other suggestions?

    Hello Gemese,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning audio issues:

  • Custom or Purchased Ringtones Sound Muffled in 6.0.1

Custom ringtones sound muffled when used as ringtones, yet sound perfect when used as text tone or any other alert. This was fixed in IOS 5.1 but is now back. This is easily tested by going to sounds and listening to the custom ringtone in Ringtone then go to Text Tone and listen to the same file. There is a marked difference. The Ringtone sounds muffled and narrow-no bass, not much treble, the Text Tone sounds perfect, as it should.

I like you I have not been a user of this functionality.
Another editor (who was only learning the system) showed it to me and my initial reaction was "Wow, That's what that does?"
This would have been very helpful on the last two features I cut.
I even have to ask when did this fuctionality first work in FCP?
and now that I know about it, why is this not in the contextual menus?
Apple/FCP talks lots about being in Feature Film workflows
but this is just the sort of tools that feature editors need and want.
I am happy that soundtrackpro may be upgraded and now useable
but these sorts of double sound system issues have never been FCPs strong suit. I do wish that apple would go back and upgrade the sound inside of FCP. (better sync tools, better timecode tools, and real 5.1 mixing in the time line) - Cinema Tools needs an overhaul badly for 24 fps HD matchbacks...
The other two biggies in FCP for me are:
    1)
A better trim mode - (more responsive key commands - live trimming...)
But here is a tool that most everyone hates and apple should take a stab at a better version, anything would be better..
( do it right and you could sell a lots of multi-touch tablets
    2)
Being able to cut from a sequence as source (without nesting the sequence).
Every editor coming from the Avid in the last two years I've spoken to, howls about it. And yes you can "select in to out, copy, paste" but they are right. Think like an editor thinks, "Take my assembly reel and use that as source"....
    oh sorry
    I was ranting..
    I will stop now
    all the best

  • N900 Ringtone sound. Distortion / Clipping error /...

I have the ringtone problem with the N900 when you select a mp3 out of your own albums in the profilemenu it sounds clear, but when you get a incoming call, it sounds strange, a clipping sound.and how higher the ringtonevolume in the profilemenu, the lower the clipping sound is, but is not completly gone.
Tis problem is also with the standard ringtones/alarmtones but you have to listen very carefully, the reason why you almost don't hear it with the standaard tones is because they lack of bass and beat.
But the problem is also with the standard tones.
Are there more people with this problem and somebody a solution for this problem?
and does this mean that the N900 can't even play a normal mp3 song as a ringtone without Clipping/distortion?

i haven't had this problem myself but usually the clicking sound on digitaly compressed media is a corrupt file or in the case of a scratched mp3 cd its miss read data, if you haven't used mp3 cd's they're very different to digital audio and rather than skipping they make strange noises and/or just jump to the next track
if this hppens with the songs when used as a ringtone its more than likely that its a ram issue (which it shouldn't be seen as they usually run at 128k). all i can suggest is using a lower bit rate (maybe 92k) for the songs you want as your ringtone or maybe just having less apps running

  • IPhone ringtone sound breaking up.

I just purhcased some ringtones and the sound seems to be breaking up. I believe its the bass on the song thats causing it. Do you guys have the same problem? I tried to go to the ringtone file and set an Equalizer preset but that option isnt available. Apple needs to do something with the speaker that cant handle bass at all!

The problem with that is though when I am listening the music through iPod mode, I will have to change it again which could become annoying.

  • Custom Ringtone Sound Quality

I just got my iphone a couple of days ago, and I love having ringtones!
I read that you would have to spend money on itunes to buy a song and create a ringtone, but as a poor college student I tried to find ways to create my own custom ringtones and sync them to my iphone.
Fortunately I have found a very easy and simple way of creating custom ringtones, and in fact it works!
However, the sound quality of the ringtones coming out through the speakers is not very good. (especially the bass - i like a lot of rap and r&B)
Is there any way to fix this?
(of course when I receive a call through my headphones, the quality is fine)

Congrats on finding out how to make your own (I do as well and I know a lot of people do).
As for sound quality of speaker. Well you sort of have to remember, the speaker on the phone isn't meant for music playback. It is there for the phone. It is designed for voice levels and pitches. Not for musical playback. While yes one can play music through it (or musical ringtones), the quality will suffer. The musical side of the phone (iPod) is meant to be listened to via headphones or attached external speaker system (like every other iPod).
So in the end, not much you can do to make it sound better.

  • No keyboard and ringtone sound!

Help please. On my iPhone 3 I cannot hear keyboard, SMS, or ringtones. When I plug the headphones I can only hear the ring tone when it ring but not the other two. Everything else works fine. It is not n headphone mode beacause when I unplug the headphones it detects it. I've tried everything, reset, plug-unplug headphones, insomnia, left switch is ok... don't kow what else to do!

This sounds very much like a physical fault inside the phone - short or loose component. You really have no option but to get it looked at under warranty

  • Ringtones, text ringtones, sound effects no longer play.

My 16gb Iphone 3GS will no longer play a ringtone if someone is calling, will no longer play the text-message sound effect and also no-longer make the sound effect if I lock the screen.
The volume is as high as it will go and the ringtone is selected under settings. Vibrate is on. What could be the problem?

It'll actually play the ringtone in with the headphones in, but otherwise, you can not hear it. The phone isn't in headphone mode without the headphones in, the Ipod and ringtone previews sound fine and clear out of the speaker.
It just doesn't play the text or call ringtone any more.

  • Ringtone sound cracking up

When I listen to my normal music via the phone's speakers, I'm extremely disappointed because the sound cracks up, especially with songs with heavier bass.
Now I just bought 2 ringtones to test, and they both crack up as well - no surprise there.
Here's to hoping iPhone version 2 improves its speaker quality. Partner up with Bose or something.
Is it just me, or are people experiencing the cracking sounds as well?

tried that, and it seems to have worked for some songs.
The song I really like though, is Clothes Off by Gym Class Heroes. Unfortunately it seems the feature doesn't make this sound much better...
Anyone else got ideas? Or is the quality of my speakers sub-par from other iphones and I should go to Apple Store to fix it?
