No Scaling Option for Dell WQHD IPS Monitor

I have a Dell UltraSharp U2713HM which have a Native Resolution2560 x 1440 at 60 Hz .
I used MDP to DP cable ant my new macbook pro retina is driving it @Native Resolution2560 x 1440 at 60 Hz just fine.
My RMBP's "Colour LCD" is scaling perfectly. but my U2713HM have no scaling options like RMBP screen.
I can Downgrade resolution to 1080p or something other than that there is no option.
I see some videos on youtube that OS X support 4k display with same scaling options on my RMBP display.
On my U2713HM  native resolution looks good but difficult to browse Facebook etc.
it is too small. if i downscale resolution it is not as good as 2560 x 1440.
How to solve this problem?
This is my first mac

Hi Rich,
Normally I wouldn't recommend cross-posting, but if this isn't a MBP hardware issue, there is also a Windows Compatibility forum you may want to post in. Good luck.

  • No Scaling Options for my Dell WQHD Display

Why this online community actually for? this is run by apple??? Most of the questions not answered.
    My problem.
My Dell WQHD monitor connected using MDP to DP cable and works fine  but Two problems.
    1) I cannot scale things up just like my macbook pro do. only option to decrease resolution.
    2) cannot control Audio, no option to increase or decrease volume.

I have solved the problem by purchasing a Dell S2209W display. It is an HD monitor and seems to be working fine with no eye strain. Of course, it is not as nice as my 23" Apple display, but at $239 it is perfectly adequate for use as a second display. I still don't know why I had problems with the Samsung, but I am happy for now.

  • 150% UI Scaling Option for Photoshop

I'd been trying to get some feedback from the guys at Adobe regarding this, but seems like no one has seen or heard this pleas. I'm currently using a Surface Pro 3 to work on Photoshop, and while I really appreciate the fact that Adobe introduced the 200% scaling option, it's really too big to do anything productively. It's definitely usable, but is it the best scaling? I would really hope 150% scaling option to be added as well. So we could toggle between it base on our preference.
    What do you guys think?

    ++
Also need the same feature. 200% is too big, 100% is too small.
And more than that, I don't see why Photoshop wouldn't follow the applied OS (Windows 8.1) UI Scaling setting like all other apps do...

  • Sound for Dell LCD TV/Monitor?

Thanks for answers in advance. I am sure this has been answered somewhere but cannot find it.
I just converted to the dark side and purchased a Mac Mini. I hooked the Mini to a Dell 23" LCD TV/Monitor. Instead of ordinary computer speakers I want to use the speakers on the TV.
    What do I need?

I am running the same setup you are, except its a 19" Samsung TV and I have it hooked up via VGA. Next to the VGA port there is a port labeled "PC AUDIO". This allows me to run a dual sided 3.5mm audio cable from the audio out port on the mini to the audio in port on the TV.
There should be something similar on your Dell, but I am not sure. Look at the back and in the user manual to see what kind of ports there are.
    Here are some 3.5mm cables:

  • Rotate Option for Dell 2408WFP on a G5 with GeForce FX5200

    I have a G5 with a GeForce 5200 and a Dell 2408WFP 24" swivel monitor. On the G4 I was using, an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro card.
The G5 does not show a "Rotate" option in the display preference pane. Is there an update I can do to enable rotation?
If not, can the ATI card be made to fit into the G5?
If not, what is my least expensive option?
    Thanks,
    Majrtom

The slots don't seem to line up. Am I missing something?
You are trying to install the Radeon card in place of the Geforce, correct?
There is only one AGP slot.
The other slots are PCI, and will not accept an AGP card.

  • Resolution options for Pavilion IPS 23bw monitor

Will this monitor only operation in 1920 x 1080? Apparently my video card (Radeon 4350) does not support this resolution.
I did install new card drivers, but still no option for this. Is there any way to use in another resolution, or do I need to upgrade video card?

    Here are the specs for your HP Pavilion 23bw 23-inch IPS LED Monitor and here is the User Guide for this model. Based on this information, this model supports a recommended and maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz. According to the user guide, this model should also support the use of the following resolutions;
    640 x 480 @ 59.94
    720 x 400 @ 70.087
    800 × 600 @ 60.317
    1024 × 768 @ 60
    1280 × 720 @ 60
    1280 × 1024 @ 60.02
    1440 × 900 @ 59.887
    1600 × 900 @ 60
    1680 × 1050 @ 59.954
    1920 × 1080 @ 60
You may also need to install the HP Pavilion 23bw IPS LED Backlit Monitor Driver to achieve full compatibility and it is possible that the AMD/ATI Radeon HD 4350 won't fully support this monitor.

Yeah, I'm having the same exact problem - It seems that the thunderbolt minidisplay port is only able to output the analog VGA signal, not the digital signal to support DVI and HDMI. This is a bug that came up after installing 10.7.1. I bought my macbook air with 10.7 on it, upgraded it to 10.7.1 as soon as I got it, so I have never been able to use hdmi or dvi with my macbook air. This is an extremely frustrating problem for me, I used HDMI on a daily basis with my PC. I have spent many hours at the genius bar running diagnostic tests so Apple can get as much information as possible to create a fix for this problem. I have been emailing tech support for 3 or so weeks now, they keep saying that they are working on a fix and it should be out soon, but 10.7.2 has come and gone and I still have no HDMI functionality with my MacBook Air!

  • Graphic card/display driver on X100e is inadequate for Dell U2311 1900 x 1080 monitor

I have an x100e laptop that I bought in late 2010 that came with ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics. It is able to support ThinkPad display 1366 x 768. I just hooked it up to a Dell U2311 23" monitor - which offers a 1920 x 1080. I looking to get this level of resolution.  I have tried going to the ATI Radeon site to download an updated driver but so far have been unsuccessful. Does anyone have a suggestion?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You are connecting via VGA I assume, because as I recall the X100e did not have a HDMI port.
Are you enabling extended display mode? In mirrored mode I suspect it will only allow to match the built in LCD resolution, perhaps that's what you're seeing.

  • External monitor options For Macbook Pro(2011)

Just curious as to what my monitor options are as a external monitor for the Macbook Pro.  I'm pretty much set on 27'' thunderbolt display but its a hefty price to swallow...
Best buy has some good deals on there 27'' monitor but can i get the same resolution and clarity from other brands that will be eqivalent to Apple?
I'd like to stay in the 27'' to 30'' size...
    thanks

Any other options like Samsung, LG etc... that offer the same specs as the thunderbolt display?
    Thanks

  • Cisco asa 5585 syslog options for ips?

We have CISCO ASA 5585 with a separate module for IPS, I want to know what are the options for configuring syslog? Its nearly impossible to find ; and there are some forums on the internet which says that cisco ips stores logs in native / proprietary format and cannot be exported.
    Please elaborate
    Thanks.

Some sensor-related events generate syslog messages. Those will be forwarded according to the parent ASA syslog settings.
Detailed IPS events (signature triggers actions etc.) are stored locally and must be retrieved using the SDEE protocol (tcp-based). That requires use of a management system like Cisco Security Manager (CSM), IPS Manager Express (IME) etc. There is a good document here that explains SDEE in more detail.

  • Would be useful if there was a monitor option for posts

When you post a message to a forum it would be useful if there was an option for it to email you when your post has been replied to.
Also when performing a search it would be useful to display the number of replies to the messages - ie there is no point looking at a message if it has had no reply.

    Hi Todd,
thanks for the feedback. I will share this with the technical team.

  • [SOLVED] IPS Monitor Resolution Not Detected

I just got one of the new Catleap 27" IPS monitors. It works fine in Windows at its native 2560x1440 but arch doesn't seem to be detecting it properly

    640x480 59.9
DP-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DVI-I-3 is my second monitor (a regular LCD) which works fine. I think DVI-I-2 is the Catleap. Oddly, the manual says it supports 800x600 but it won't even turn on when X is started. Also it works fine when X isn't started. Whenever I switch to a different TTY my second monitor turns off and the Catleap turns on (albeit at a low resolution).
I've tried adding a new resolution mode with xrandr, but that gives me an error
    # xrandr --newmode "2560x1440_60.00" 312.25 2560 2752 3024 3488 1440 1443 1448 1493 -hsync +vsync

I've tried various xorg.conf settings and using nvidia-settings, but nothing I do can get it to use a higher resolution or even turn on for that matter. I'm not sure if my dual monitor setup could be screwing with it. I've tried disconnecting my second monitor but that doesn't seem to help.
I found this article, which says that the Catleap's EDID isn't in Linux by default so you can specify it manually. So I set up my xorg.conf.d directory as follows
    # 90-serverlayout.conf
    Section "ServerLayout"
    Identifier "Main"
    Screen 0 "Acer V243"
    Screen 1 "Catleap Q270" LeftOf "Acer V243"

Which doesn't work. The Catleap still won't turn on and the mouse position is all screwed up on my Acer. If I comment out the screen 1 line in the ServerLayout, the Acer works fine on its own.

  • Can the late 2013 Macbook Pro Retina 13" power 2 external Dell UltraSharp U2713HM monitors at full resolution?

Hi, I'm looking at buying the current Macbook Pro Retina 13", but I'd like to use it with 2 Dell UltraSharp U2713HM monitors http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&kc=305&l=en& oc=U2713HM-Black&s=dhs&sbc=dell-u2713hm
My plan was to use the the thunderbolt ports to the monitors DisplayPort plug. Can the 13" Macbook Pro drive 2 external screens @ 2560x1440 I'm happy to shut the macbook lid if necessary.
If the 13" can't do it, can the 15" model with it's discrete graphics card?
The Dell UltraSharp U2713HM – it’s everything you could want in a 27” monitor – screen brilliance, comfort and eco-consciousness all rolled into one
27-inch (diagonal) VIS with LED backlight
    WQHD resolution, 2560 x 1440 at 60 Hz (Max)
    178°/178° ultra-wide viewing angle
    In-plane switching technology
    Customizable brightness from 50 to 350 cd/m²
    Factory calibrated color report
    More than 99% sRGB (deltaE < 5)
DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI, DVI and VGA and USB 3.0 ports
Pivot, tilt, swivel and height adjustable (115mm)
Arsenic-free glass and mercury-free LED panel
Why not the Apple Thunderbolt screen, well I prefer a non-reflective screen in the office, but If I can't do it with the Dell's can it be done with 2 27" Thunderbolt monitors from the 13" Macbook Pro?

    In a word, yes.
The video out capabilities for the 13" and 15" retina MBPs are the same.
