No Scanner available in Acrobat ver. 9.x or X

Hello Community,
recently I installed my new MFP Device "Koycera FS-C2126MFP+" (Color Print, Fax, Scan, Network + USB). I used the latest drivers from Kyocera website (KX Driver v6.0) for Windows 7 x64.
Unfortunately my Acrobat 9.4 did not show the scanner in my "Create PDF from Scanner". I am only able to select "Please choose a device..." under the "Scanner:" entry.
Since I wanted to update to Acrobat X anyway I installed that but unfortunately the scanner still does not show up.
I am able to scan with the "Windows Scan and Fax Assistant" so the scanner is working.
The driver installed is a WIA driver (not TWAIN). But my research shows that both Acrobat 9.x and X should be able to access a WIA scan device.
What else can I do? I already uninstalled both scanner/printer driver AND Acrobat but the problem persists.
Kyocera Support says that - since the scanner is working - the problem should be with Acrobat (at least not with Kyocera)
Also, there is a file on the Koycera Website for "TWAIN / WIA / USB / NETWORK Scanning" for Windows 7 (x86/x64). Unfortunately this file does not contain a setup routine, just the driver files. I cannot figure out how to install these (but since the scanner IS working with "Windows Scan & Fax Assistant" I figure I don't have to) or if I even have to...
Please make some suggestions since I'm beginning to get really discouraged :-(
Thanks
Martin

Update 2:
I don't seem to be able to tell the scanner what settings to use. I ALWAYS get a low quality black/white scan, whether I choose greyscale or color.
Also, the settings for "Store Modus / system modus" oder "show / hide scanner gui" (sorry, my Acrobat is not english so I have to guess some menu items) do NOT seem to have ANY effect. Every possible combination produces the same scan results...
I figure now the problem seems to be with Kyocera again (at least the TWAIN one) ?

  • Clearscan no longer available in Acrobat DC?

    Hi,
    The Clearscan output option is no longer available in Acrobat DC, which confuses me. I always used it and it produced excellent results while keeping the file size small. I am guessing the new OCR options have replaced this with newer technology but the term Clearscan is no longer there. Any ideas what's going on there?
    Thanks

    Hi, I also beg to differ with Varinder. I did some tests with a sample file to compare the output size of the files generated.
    Test document: A 300 dpi, black and white, 8.5 x 11 scanned document of 9 pages long with an original size of 434 KB. Document contained approximately 27% of images (scientific graphs) and 73% of text in an 11 points serif font.
    Acrobat XI Pro using “ClearScan” (300 dpi) took 23 seconds and produced a file of 213 KB.
    Acrobat DC Pro using “Editable text and images” (300 dpi) took 1 minute and 31 seconds and produced a file of 378 KB.
    Both files look almost identical. The only noticeable difference is the spacing between the characters here and there.
    A space usage audit reveals that the main difference between the two output files is the space used by the fonts (the other elements, namely images, content streams, and document overhead are almost the same size between the two output files):
    XI fonts: 150,709 Bytes or 69.10% of the document
    DC fonts: 322,147 Bytes or 83.42% of the document.
    I suspect the new feature that allows one to edit a scanned document with a font resembling the original requires Acrobat DC to embed the entire font in the produced document where Acrobat XI only embedded the required characters. Attempting to edit the document created with XI in DC seems to support this theory as the characters not found in the document were substituted by a very poorly selected font. Acrobat DC did not exhibit that limitation and I was able to edit any text and all the characters were available (all the alphabet, all the numbers, the ampersand sign, the percentage sign, etc.).

  • Acrobat ver 7 and Windows XP dwwin.exe and lockup errors

    Have a couple of PCs that are giving a dwwin.exe error after installing Acrobat ver 7 - they get the error when shutting down their PC.  At times the PC locks up and user will reboot the PC.  Have tried different ways to resolve the dwwin - including disabling Dr Watson.  What is strange is the dwwin.exe has not appeared for a period of time after a fix is tried - almost a week, and then it is back.  Have not seen anything unusual in the Event Logs.  Other users in the area had Acrobat ver 9, which has some different settings and options, but the users prefer the ver 7.  Anyone else expereincing anythng like this?  I can gather more info if needed.  Thanks

  • How can I change the file version for scanned PDFs to 1.4 when using the "PDF from Scanner" feature from Acrobat XI? By default it's always saved as 1.5.

    Because our IT system can only handle PDFs with versions up to 1.4, we need to "PDF from scanner" feature to store the scanned PDFs in version 1.4.
    Acrobat 9 always saved it in 1.4, but starting with Acrobat X, the PDFs are saved in 1.5.
    There must be a setting or configuration somewhere where I can change this.
    I already tried modifying the distiller's standard joboptions, but that did not work.
    Thanks for any help

    We use in our software an open-source pdf library that only supports pdf versions up to 1.4. I know it is old, but it's not that simple to exchange it.
    But I just had a look into the Actions as you suggested. This way I get it to work. It costs one additional click, so that's acceptable.
    Thanks for the support.

  • Linking a scanner to Adobe Acrobat 10

    I cannot access my scanner through Acrobat 10. How do i link them? Cannot find any information on the web about it at all. So you understand, I am trying to create a PDF by scanning. When given the option of choosing a scanner there is nothing there.

    Most scanners work through a TWAIN interface and you need to be sure that the software is installed to allow Acrobat to see your scanner. You may have to download an appropriate driver for your scanner. Does the scanner work with any graphics software?

  • Samsung SCX-4521F scanner failure into Acrobat 9.1.3

    I have the above mentioned all-in-one, latest scan drivers loaded from Samsung.  Windows XP SP3 fully up to date.  Acrobat recognizes the WIA driver (must invoke Custom Scan since does not allow presets), allows option changes, but when Scan button is pushed it fails with msg "Error while interacting with the scanner: the selected scanner was not found".  The msg doesn't make much sense, since Acrobat has already interacted with the scanner, but there it is.
    I'm an experienced pc IT type, have gone thru the usual reload drivers, etc., with no luck.  All other applications can scan directly from the WIA Twain32 driver, including Adobe Photoshop CS4, but not Acrobat.  I have searched knowledge base, Googled, etc., no info.

    Bill, I believe you need to read my other posts, Adobe Acrobat from the built-in administrator account is the only app that won't scan successfully.  And in XP there are now two ways to scan, Twain and WIA (Windows Imaging Acquisition), both fail.
    So here's the final workaround, in case anybody else has this issue and needs a "fix".  I have two accounts on my Windows XP SP3 system, the built-in Administrator account (my normal working logon) and a second user account, call it X, that also has administrative privileges (belongs to the administrators group).  I have a shortcut on my desktop in the Administrator account for Acrobat - I right click on it and choose Run as from the pop-up menu.  I then select the X account and enter its password, and Acrobat appears.  Scan to pdf now works properly for both of my scanners; when finished I have to be careful where I save the pdf, since the Desktop and My Documents are for the X user and don't show up automatically since I'm logged into the system as Administrator.  Not a big deal, easy enough to put the final pdf somewhere convenient to locate.
    So there you have it, Adobe for some obscure reason has inhibited scan to pdf while in the built-in Administrator account, at least in my system and for two different scanner brands (Epson and Samsung).  I don't believe it is a permissions issue; I have examined all involved files and registry entries for such and have found no obvious problems.  I have uninstalled and installed both Acrobat and the scanner driver for all combinations of the two users, again with always the same result.

  • How to dynamically call image  in PDF for Acrobat ver 8.1 onwards?

    Hi Experts,
    I am using Web Dynpro Java. My requirement is to call the images dynamically on a PDF form. There are no of company code. I have to call different logos for different company codes/
    We are now using Acrobat 8.1.1. Please refer following thread.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405270.html
    From Acrobat 8.*, we have to use some different method for dynamically calling the images. Earlier we were using the concept mentioned below to dynamically call images.
    However this method is not applicable for Acrobat Reader 8.* onwards due to security reasons.
    Click on the Layout tab and choose None for the Caption position.
    u2022 Click on the Object, then the Binding tab and choose None for Default Binding.
    u2022 Click on the Field tab, enter $record.SapOnlineShopUrl for the URL entry, and select Use Image Size for the Sizing field.
    u2022 Click on the script editor and enter the following FormCalc script statement, which enables the dynamic integration of the image. Show: initialize Script: this.value.image.href = xfa.resolveNode(this.value.image.href).value; Language: FormCalc Run At: Client
    write following code in wddoinit
    try { String url = WDURLGenerator.getAbsoluteWebResourceURL( wdComponentAPI.getDeployableObjectPart(), "sap_online_shop.jpg"); wdContext.currentDataSourceElement().setSapOnlineShopUrl(url); } catch(Exception e) { throw new WDRuntimeException(e); }
    Please let me know what is the alternate method for Adope ver 8.1.1
    Regards,
    Gary

    Hi Gary,
    First you upload the image in SAP through se78.then write the below code in your adobe form interface.
    data :  v_object type  TDOBJECTGR value 'GRAPHICS',
            v_id  type TDIDGR  value 'BMAP',
            v_btype type TDBTYPE value 'BCOL',
            V_FIELD TYPE XSTRING.
    V_NAME = 'ZW_DEVMAN_LOGO'.
    CALL METHOD cl_ssf_xsf_utilities=>get_bds_graphic_as_bmp
    EXPORTING
    p_object = v_object " 'GRAPHICS'
    p_name = v_name " Name of the logo as in se78
    p_id = v_id " 'BMAP'
    p_btype = v_btype " 'BCOL' ( whether the image is in color or black and white )
    RECEIVING
    p_bmp = v_field
    EXCEPTIONS
    not_found = 1
    internal_error = 2
    OTHERS = 3.
    g_logo = v_field.
    Declare g_logo as xstring in global data.
    In context of the form make one graphic element with field g_logo and mime type BMP.It will work.

  • PDF's from Scanner unavailable in Acrobat 7

    I successfully downloaded and installed Free Adobe 7.1.0 Standard alongside my other registered Adobe products and all 'Make PDF' options are available except 'FRom Scanner'. My Canaon MG6150 id fully operational with my other PC apps in Windows 7. Any suggestions?

    As far as I know there is not such thing as a Free AA7. If you got it free, there would be a big question of what kind of virus might be in it. In addition, AA7 is not compatible with Win7, particularly the 64-bit version. Folks with AA8 have had trouble even getting it to work on Win7. You might be able to get it to work with some workarounds.
    As to your direct question, the scanner requires the proper twain driver to interface to the scanner. Try a graphics package and see if you can access the scanner.

  • Is 'Optimize Scanned PDF' available in Acrobat X Standard?

    Can anyone with Acrobat X Standard tell me whether the 'Optimize Scanned PDF' option is available?  We have need to buy a new license and this is one feature that we use, but I can't determine whether this feature is available in Standard or if I would need to buy the Pro version.  Thanks!

    Yes, Optimize Scanned PDF comes with Acrobat Standard also.

  • Advanced editing toolbar avail. in Acrobat v.9 Standard?

    Howdy,
    I tried searching, as well as going to the Adobe product matrix web site, but can't seem to find
    an answer - apologies for the potentially obvious question.
    I need to purchase Adobe Acrobat v. 9 for one of our end users. They are not sure if they
    need Standard, or Professional. They do know they need the "advanced editing" toolbar.
    Is that avail. in Standard, or only in Professional?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    thanks much for the reply.  I had one of our reps. check into it as well, but
    whilst I was waiting for his reply, I went ahead and contacted Adobe.
    Per the person I spoke to, the "advanced editing" toolbar is avai. with the
    "Standard" edition.
    I guess we'll find out.

  • My Epson Perfection V500 photo scanner stopped working when I upgraded to Yosemite. The only scanner available is my Epson All-in-One.

    I installed the new Yosemite operating system even though I was afraid something bad would happen. Well. it did. I can no longer scan photos using my photo scanner. I have updated all the drivers and it is still not working. I have an Epson Perfection V500 photo scanner, as well as an Epson WorkForce 845 all-in-one scanner, printer, copier. The 845 is on the network. The V500 is connected to my computer. For some reason, I keep getting the error that my V500 is not connected and when I try to add it, my mac does not find it. I know it is there. It was working before I upgraded. Help

    You may have already done so, but if not...
    Try a different USB cable.
    Reboot your computer
    Launch Disk Utility (in the Utilities folder) and Repair Disk Permission
    in the left pane, click once on the name of your hard disk
    in the right pane, click on the First Aid tab near the top
    under the blank window, click the button "Repair Disk Permissions."
    Afterward, click the "verify disk" button and it will check your hard disk.
    Now, try your scanner...

  • Acrobat ver 9.4.2 does not see my installed printers

    after the latest update Adobe Acrobat does not see my installed printers -   Adobe Reader sees them fine - this is creating a major problem for me as I now had to go in and mark reader as the default program - every time I try to print from acrobat it tells me I have to install a printer first - I have more than 2 printer installed ( local and network printers)  what is going on and how can I fix this - have tried doing a repair with no luck

    As suggested in a previous post I looked up the Support posting in the Forums about this issue, looking for the same solution from the issue we are experiencing since that last update. I used the first solution which seems to have worked.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/891/cpsid_89178.html
    My only issue with this was clicking on manifest file, windows saved it as a .xml file not .manifest file extension. Windows does see .manifest as a .xml file but does not have a viewer to open it. I changed the saved .xml file to .manifest and then followed the instructions of copying the file into the Acrobat folder, rebooted the computer. Now the original default printer works with Acrobat 9 Pro.
    Another strange thing about this problem is that if you change your default printer to another printer in printer/faxes it will see those but not the original default printer. But the above solution did work for me.
    Best to all.

  • No updates available for Acrobat 9 Standard past version 9.1.

    I'm trying to update Acrobat 9.0 Standard. I tried the built-in updater in Acrobat and it couldn't find any updates. So I tried to search on the Adobe website and I only found one patch suitable for my version of Acrobat. This patch updates Acrobat to 9.1. However past that, there are no suitable updates for my specific version of Acrobat. I believe it has to do with the languages installed. My version only has three languages. The patch that worked was this one.
    When I run the "All Languages" patch it doesn't start, just shows an error that says the patch is for the wrong program.
    Adobe - Acrobat : For Windows : Acrobat Updates listed here.
    I tried the FTP site but it has the same offering as the website.

    The updates site indicate you can get updates through 9.5.5 for AA9. Try http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows and download from the most recent back. This process enables to see if some updates can be skipped (the page will indicate what prior version is required for each update). Then install the updates in order. You only have to reboot after the last update, unless you really like to wait for those reboots.
