No Screen Display (but LED and other functions fine)
My phone is working - I can hear the alarm when a text message comes in, the phone rings and I can answer it by sliding up.
I can connect to my PC via USB by plugging it in and touching on the screen in the area where I know the corresponding button is. But nothing is showing up on the screen. It's illuminated, but just a blank black screen.
I took it to Sprint and they said I could buy a new Pre for $550. Is there no other option for repair here?
I'm very disappointed that I had to go back to my Treo 700p, as I was absolutely loving the Pre.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

I have had my screen freeze on me at least once a week in the last month, often twice. I get a blank screen, even when charging on the touchstone. I can accept calls and receive notifications of text messages and emails but the screen is completely blank.
I have had to remove the battery and restart the phone to get it working again. So far this has fixed it everytime but it can certainly be annoying as the boot up time is long. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a known hardware/software issue? I have not found any other posts on this subject.

FF 5 screen display shifted to the right, leaving left side of screen blank. The full screen option restores the display to normal but the menu bars are no longer visible. I have reset Firefox, completed all the steps in "flash video won't play full screen on YouTube, Facebook and other websites". And the video still won't play in full screen. It will play, but frequently stops or sound continues and picture freezes. I have noticed that if I continually move my mouse, it plays fine. All these videos play fine in IE and Chrome.
Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See [[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems|this article]] for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).
To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:

Using Mac OSX 10.7.1: recently replaced our DSL modum and wireless router, suddenly I can't get some web sites to load. Many do, but Twitter and others often do not. I've reset the browsing history, forms, cookies and cache but it continues to happen.
Ok, first thing, why are you doing anything with WAMP or XAMPP when you're running a Mac? MAMP should be what you want unless you're not explaining part of what you are trying to do.
2nd thing, I haven't used MAMP in a while, but there are two possibilities for not seeing what you want to see once you have MAMP turned on. One possibility is that you already have "Web Sharing" turned on in your Sharing Preference Pane. If that is the case, port 80 will already be taken and you'll be seeing the default Apache install (files are stored at /Library/WebServer/Documents/). This would push MAMP to either not turn on it's web serving capabilities, or to push it to another port. The other possibility is that MAMP defaults to another port anyway. So instead of localhost, you might have to type in localhost:8080 or something similar. I believe the control panel that gets installed can take you to the currently MAMP-served page, and it can also help you change which port your serving on.
80 is the default port for web serving and the ONLY port that will let you get straight to the server without having to type in webaddress.com:port# instead of just webaddress.com. -
I have an airport extreme 2013. Why does my airport utility sometimes display IP addresses and other times the names of the devices? I want it to always display the device names.
The utility has had less and less useful information .. it might be time to simply find a different utility.

This is very popular.. I do not know of what works well on Mac OS because i have installed 5.6 utility which of course has far more info than the later toy version. Plus using an Asus router which has excellent listing of all the clients.
Sometimes beating yourself up to make apple routers do what you want is easier solved with lateral thinking. -

Try the following.
Right click on the video ( green screen ) and select Settings.
Remove the tick from the box next to 'Enable Hardware Acceleration' and then click close.
Refresh the currnt page and see if the video now plays Ok.

PowerMac G4 agp tower wont boot up, no screen display but fan's running
Hi all,
My G4 won't boot up. The power light goes on then off when pressed but no chime or screen on display. I hear & feel the fan running only. I reset PMU and also changed the battery but no luck. Any ideas of what it can be? Thanks for your help

I found a few apples sites with the following possible solutions that I will try, but my gut is telling me I fried the mother board again. I don't have the money for a new pro-mac, so I hope there is a low-cost mother-board replacement available for my 6 year old mac (any comments?).
Again, if there is someone who has successfully fixed this problem without replacing the motherboard, let me know.
As always, any additional comments/suggestions are welcome.

Power Mac G4: Screen is Black, No Startup Tone, Drive Does Not Operate
The Power Mac G4 computer screen is black. The boot tone is not present, the drive does not operate, but the fan is running, and LED is lit.
This article covers repair procedures for authorized service providers on selected Apple products, but we have published them in the Knowledge Base for the general public for educational purposes. At this time, there are a limited number of repairs that a customer can perform and these are covered under the customer installable parts program http://www.info.apple.com/installparts. Symptom
The Power Mac G4 computer screen is black. The boot tone is not present, the drive does not operate, the fan is running, and LED is lit.

Solution
DANGER! This procedure exposes you to high voltages that can result in death or serious injury. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS PROCEDURE IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN CERTIFIED AS AN APPLE-AUTHORIZED TECHNICIAN.
1. Power Mac G4 (PCI Graphics): Check jumper block at J25. Make sure jumper is correct color for processor type, includes all required inner metal clips, and is installed in correct direction. See "Processor Module" in Service Source Take Apart for more information.
2. Check video cable/card connections.
3. Reset the Cuda chip. Refer to article 95065: "Power Macintosh G4 (PCI Graphics): Resetting the Cuda Chip"
Solution
Press the Cuda reset button on the logic board to reset the Cuda chip. The Cuda reset button is located to the right of the battery. Note: If the computer still fails to power up, refer to article 95066: "Power Mac G4 (PCI Graphics): Resetting the Logic Board".
4. Reset the logic board. Power Mac G4 (AGP Graphics): Refer to resetting the PMU in article 95037: "Power Mac G4 (AGP Graphics/Gigabit Ethernet): Resetting the PMU on the Logic Board ". If you have a Power Macintosh G4 (PCI Graphics): Refer to article 95066: "Power Macintosh G4 (PCI Graphics): Resetting the Logic Board".
Procedure
1. Unplug the computer.
2. Press the Power On button on the front of the unit.
3. Open the side access panel.
4. Remove the battery from the logic board.
5. Wait at least 10 minutes before replacing the battery.
6. Make sure the battery is installed in the correct +/- direction.
7. Reassemble the computer and test the unit.
Note: This procedure resets the computer's PRAM. Be sure to check the computer's time/date and other system parameter settings afterwards.
5. Reseat video card.
6. Reseat SDRAM DIMMs. Make sure DIMMs are PC-100 DIMMs.
7. Reseat the processor module.
8. Remove all SDRAM DIMMs and try replacing them one at a time to test. Replace any bad DIMMs.
Resetting the PMU Chip Procedure

a. Disconnect the power cord and check the battery in the battery holder (BT1). The battery should read 3.3 V to 3.7 V. If the battery is bad, replace the battery, wait ten seconds, and then reset the PMU (refer to the next step). If the battery is good, go to the next step.
b. Press the PMU reset switch (S1) once on the logic board. Do not press the PMU reset switch a second time because it could stop the PMU chip from responding.
c. Wait ten seconds before connecting the power cord and turning the computer on. If the computer turns on, go to the next step. If the computer does not turn on, there is something else wrong with the computer.
d. Run MacTest Pro and return the computer to the customer.
Note: This entire procedure resets the computer's PRAM. Be sure to reset the computer's time, date, and other system parameter settings before returning the computer to the customer.

11. Replace logic board.
12. Replace the power supply.
It is always worth resetting the pram
as well by holding down alt-apple-p-r at the same time immediately after
booting the machine up. -
Powerbook 17" display issues: posterization and other psychedelia

My Powerbook 17" has, since it's purchase in June 2005, a problem with the display that occurs periodically whereby the display suddenly posterizes and becomes extremely hard to read. I have found that adjusting the display angle, that is, moving the Powerbook display hinge can make it worse or can cause it to revert to normal. It seems to me that there is a short in or interference with the wiring that must pass through this junction. Has anyone else had a similar experience with their Powerbook 17"?Your PowerBook is the same generation as the one most people are complaining about, although the majority of affected users that have been reporting the problem have machines that were manufactured around the end of the first quarter of 2005 at the factory described as W8 in Shanghi. There are ways to find out if yours is one of these machines by doing some web searching. Stating site names here my go against Apple's usage policies for this discussion board ... sorry, but info is easy to find with a little searching.
I am glad to hear that you have not as yet experienced the dreaded lines or blanked-out areas. It is still a good idea to call Apple Care and get a case number if you have not already. Explain your problem and they may be able to help. Even if there is nothing they can do, your problem will be registered. This case number may come in handy if heaven forbid your machine starts developing more severe screen problems. Good luck! -

As old as your iMac is, have you cleaned out the dust? Dust buildup can lead to over heating issues. Remove any and all things plugged into it including the power cord, Remove the RAM access grille. Vacuum all openings starting with the RAM access area (air intake). Vacuum all ports and plugs, DVD slot and the opening across the top of the rear of the body. Blow compressed air through all your openings and vacuum again to remove any dust you loosend. Reinstall the RAM grille. Plug in the keyboard and mouse if not blue tooth. Insert power cord...

Tags, no longer displaying file names and other issues
I upgraded to Mavericks, MacBook Air.
I need help sorting out what is going on with Tags.
I have a screen shot, but uploading it to this post is another problem I have run into with Mavericks. I click on the camera icon, click on upload file, and then I get a list of greyed out files, and am unable to select any of them. Very unmac like.
Back to the tag issue. The tags are listed in the open finder window. Most of the tags I have created, when selected, will display all the files with that tag, and show the file name or icon.
BUT, one of my tags, which has over a thousand files, will not display the file names. What is shown are a list of blank icons, and no file names. The preview for each file still shows as it should when a file is selected, and the file name is listed in the preview.
A picture is worth a thousand words, so I really wish I could have uploaded the screen shot!
In addition, some of the files, e.g. a .pdf file, will show no icon, no file name, no file size, but will open when double clicked and dispaly the file name and a greyed out addition to the file name "-Locked". Much weirdness.
Tags have not been working well for me. I have used colours extensively in the past for organization and now it seems to be a huge problem converting to tags. What a painful transition from Mountain Lion!With the backup completed, I followed your suggestion:

Then, restart, or log out and in again."
The smart folders disappeared. The original Tags named by colour are back on the list of Tags, and the problems remain unchanged.
In the Tags I created for my file collection, call it the LotsOfFiles folder, there are no file names listed, none.
However, when I changed the permissions on every file in the LotsOfFiles folder to Staff-Read & Write, then I was able to change, add, and delete Tags from the files. Also, once the permissions were changed the file names appeared, after five minutes... so I edited this entry when I discovered the change.
The files in LotsOfFiles have been collected since 1995, and have been saved to many computers and many backup systems. They also have been used, saved, changed etc. in operating systems dating back to OS7, and almost every operating system up to 10.9. They also are being used on different computers right now, one running OS 10.3.9. one running 10.7, and one running 10.9. The computers all have different admin logins and info.
But I still can't upload files to this forum! -

Please can someone assist me on what to do on the following;
After update of my iphone 3GS ios. I found out that my iphone has returned back to factory setting and it shows No Service on the top left corner of my iphone screen. It equally shows on the screen that I have to set up the iphone before using it again. I followed the on screen display then get connected to a WiFi, but the response I was getting is that the Set up Server cannot be contacted please try again latter. I chose the option of using itune through my Laptop. The response I was getting here is that my iphone cannot be connected the itune store because my iphone was not found.
I am regretting why I updated the ios. Please, can someone advise me on what to do please.
