No search on app store?

why is there no search option on the app store? i just don't always know the category for the app type i'm looking for. this is nuts to have no search. or maybe i'm nuts not to find it? even that would be okay as long as it's there!

I just now noticed that myself. However, the category works very well with me.

  • All searches on app store no matches

any search on app store meets with "no matches"  what's wrong?

Having the same problems as well.  They should give us all free gift card redeem codes.  Android Market has never been down. The search function is essentially how you find the apps you need.  Thumbing through categories and trying to find specific apps is next to impossible.

  • Can't search the App Store!

Can't search the app store. Good connection and can see featured apps and other things but can't search for any games. Just comes up with "no results" Just seems to be a problem tonight within the last couple of hours.

You can work around this on your iPod/Phone by searching for an app by title using Google in Safari. If you get a hit in Safari for an app that links directly to the app store, when you click on it, it will flip you to an installation screen for that app on your device, and it installs like normal when you click the button.  Clumsy and irritating, but it works. Just finished setting up my wife's iPhone 4S and it was the only way to get the vz contact transfer app onto her phone.
Apple has got to know there's a problem by now, though -- their employees must be having the same issue, and i can hardly imagine an Apple employee hanging out in the cafeteria on their campus with a Droid or an HTC phone.

  • How can I search different App Stores on the iPad without creating accounts for them?

I'm doing some research on the contents of different App Stores, and the only search feature that gives me all the data I need is the iPad store under iOS 5 or earlier. However, I cannot search a different store without creating an account and signing in, and to create an account I have to have a billing address in that store's country. iTunes on my Mac will let me search various stores without signing in (as long as I don't try to download), but iTunes doesn't give me all the information I need. Does anyone have any ideas for using iPad to search different stores without signing in?
    Thanks!

This will make a permanent change to the store location for that ID (at least, until I change it back). That *may* be useful (I won't know for a few hours because I don't have the iPad with me right now), but it's not what I want. Within the App Store I want to search a different store without having to sign in. I can do this easily enough in iTunes on my MBP and would really like to do it on the iPad too (because the iTunes app search doesn't give me all the info I need).
Thanks for the idea; stay tuned. I'll get back to you as soon as I get the chance to try it.

  • Refine Search on App Store?

Earlier today i was looking for a magazine but when i looked for it on search, i could find it because loads of other apps came up because of what i searched.
What i was thinking is that if apple added a refine search to the app store it would be 10x times better because it would make searching for apps so much easier.
    This is just an idea.
Does anyone else Agree with me.....
    Thanks.

Not just iOS 6! iOS 5.1.1 suffering the same fate.  Not happy.  Also, they got rid of the filter by rating option!  So can't do a sort my popularity show me only 4+ star items!

Update... I did go on itunes and logged off and back on, then I did the reset (holding the sleep/wake button & home button down for several seconds). The search is now working... coincidence?  Don't know.

I logged out of iTunes/AppStore, did a hard reset. It worked after the reset. Logged back in. Still worked.

  • Search ios7 App Store

After upgrading an iPad mini and iPad 2 to iOS 7 I cannot search for apps in the App Store and cannot search for music in iTunes.  It just sits with a blank page until the message pops up "request timed out".

Try a reset: hold down the home button along with the power button until you see the Apple, then let go.

  • Wildcard when searching the App Store

CAN i use "*" when searching for an app in the App Store? Or what should i use as a joker instead?

I just tested with chess and I got a long list with chess, chess free, chess with friends free, etc...
    Try a reset
Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Note: You will not lose any data

  • IOS 6 crashes when searching on App Store

    iPod touch 4g iOS 6.
Updated because I thought iOS 6 would improve the minor lag I had before. Opposite.
Lags when scrolling. Crashes EVERY time I search for an app on the App Store
This isn't only me. Go do a google search (bet google doesn't release unfinished firmwares) iOS 6 App Store crash
    This is ridiculous.
Oh right, I restored my iPod before updating so its not because "I have too many apps"
Just something to think about. Test the updates before you release them to the public
I mean I can't even search for apps. It crashes EVERY TIME
I'd be 100% a ok with this if it was still beta but come on apple. This is an official release

I had to do the EXACT same thing with my iPod! (I was running out of space because I backed up my iPod too often) And it seems to only crash when I search for YouTube...
They seriously need to fix this...

  • HT204266 Searching The App Store for Specific Apps?????

Apple products have changed my life for the better. Apple websites?... well let's just say that I find them difficult to use. Take the App Store, for instance, having just purchased an iPad I am interested in purchasing some apps to use on it. Alas when I check out the listings on the App Store I am unable to find the apps I am interested in. First off I am unsure which category to look in...would bird identification guides be listed under sports or reference? I checked both and neither appears to contain the birdwatching guide I am interested in, iBird Pro. Is there any way to conduct a search of the App Store for a particular app? I tried typing iBird Pro into the search window and it found nothing...
    Thanks

    Michael,
Problem Solved! If you can believe this if you go to the iTunes Store and click on the Browse Apps Store link at the bottom right corner of the page you will be brought to a page displaying the various App Categories (Books, Business, Catalogs, etc). In the upper right hand corner of this page there is a search box. I had typed iBird Pro and then birdwatching into this search box and got the No Suggestions Found error message. Today I spoke with a support person at Apple and together we discovered what the problem is. The search box on this Browse App Store page DOES NOT SEARCH FOR APPS in the App Store, rather it just searches on the Apple site. To search for apps you must do so through the actual iTunes Store site.
I pointed out to  the rep (a very nice lady) that in labeling the option "Browse App Store" they are leading the viewer to believe that clicking on the link actually brings you to the Apps Store Page and thus should allow you to perform an Apps Search. She allowed as to how she supposed one might think that, to which I replied that it's not exactly "intuitive" to realize that clicking Browse App Store just brings up a dummy/model but non operative site.
    Her reply to this?
Well it's intuitive now that you know it...
    Bill Gates, are you listening?
    Thanks again for your help.

  • 'Cannot connect to iTune store' while searching in App store

I just get ipad updated its 'app store', after that, I found I cannot search the store by just input keywords and press 'search' on keyboard, it says 'cannot connect to iTune store'.
but I can search the store if I input a keyword and hide the keyboard then select the keyword from search listbox.
I did not remember if this issue occured after the 'app store' was updated. but I do remember I can do the search just fine several days ago and it suddenly not work recently.
BTW, the another issue is app store randomly auto quit when I browse items. this issue also appears recently.

    Saw this on another post.
Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it!   It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

  • TS1424 Is anyone else unable to search the App Store from iPod Touch 4G since the software update?

Every time I go to the App Store since the update yesterday, it crashes after a few moments and drops me back at the home screen. Any advice?

Today I see lots of other people are having similar issues, but I'm not seeing any replies. I contacted apple, and the rep said to look here of call tech support. This sounds to me like a real problem that is addressing many users and needs to be officially addressed.

  • Searching In App Store give me a white page

    Hello,
When I make a research In App Store, i have alwais a white page.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks

    Hi Amir.09395340646,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
What app are you trying to download? Is it iPhoto for iOS?  What error message are you receiving? The first thing I would suggest is to log out of your iTunes Store account on your iPhone. Then restart the device and log in again.
iOS: Changing the signed-in iTunes Store Apple ID account

If the above did not resolve your issue, follow the troubleshooting steps in the article below.
The link includes the complete details and screenshots, but I've highlighted a few points for you:
Can't connect to the iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1368
    - Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking on Check for Update in your device's Summary page in iTunes.
    - Check and verify that you are in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you are on a 3G capable device, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
    - Check to make sure you have an active internet connection. You can check the User Guide for your device for help with connecting to the internet.
    - Check to make sure other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the internet.
    - Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router
    - If the issue still persists see, iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections or iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections.
I hope this information helps ....

  • App Commenting/Bug Reporting:  Must Search in App Store?

I learned yesterday that multitasking under iOS4 is not automatic; app developers need to create a new version to allow for multitasking. So it's time to request that enhancement of all of the apps I want to multitask!
So far, the easiest way I've found to send enhancement requests (or to report bugs) to an app developer is to go into the App Store, find the app, scroll down to the bottom of the page and hit the "Report a Problem" button.
Is there an easier way to do that? For example, perhaps from iTunes, from the window of icons for all of our purchased apps?

No replies, but ... well, whatever...
