No secondary click on Vista

I just installed Vista on my Macbook pro (late 2008) and the secondary click doesn't work. I went on BootCamp preferences and there is only the two fingers choice... and, this also.. doesn't work..
Does anyone know how to fix it?

i had the same problem as well but i just use an external mouse // i dont really use windoze other than to convert my WMA music collection to MP3 or to tether my windoze mobile phone as the bluetooth PAN dont work in OSX so im not really bothered by it // did u try 2 finger click instead of 2 finger touch for a right click? /// have yo ran all software updates for windoze itself and the apple software update on vista as there are two updates you can run.

  • Trackpad, vista 64 and secondary click

Is anyone else having a problem with secondary clicks in 64-bit vista? When I try to secondary click in the taskbar and some other applications (for example, magic the gathering online), it appears that a middle-click is actually sent to the OS rather than a right-click.
Anyone else experiencing a problem with this? I filed a bug on bugreport.apple.com, but thought I would also check here to see if anyone has a workaround.

    Hi,
I have the same problem with Win7 64-bits on my mid 2009 MacBook Pro. To right click, I sometimes have to use 3 fingers. Hadn't noticed the difference between applications though, but after having checked it a bit, it seems you're definitely right about that.
Installed the BootCamp 3.1 update, and the problem is still there. Not a big issue though.

  • Mighty Mouse secondary click no longer working with Yosemite on Mac Mini

After upgrading my early 2009 Mac mini to Yosemite, my Apple Magic mouse no longer recognizes the secondary click when I set it. Any solutions?

Try adjusting the "Double-Click Speed" in the Mouse Preference.
If you naturally click slow, try a slower setting. If you naturally click fast, try a faster setting.

  • MacBook Pro Trackpad Secondary Click not working properly - switching apps

I have a MacBook Pro 15" (new Core 2 Duo) with 10.4.8. On my main account, when I try and use the trackpad's two-finger-click to perform the secondary click functionality, I have a problem where instead of showing the secondary menu (same as control-click) it instead shows me the application switch screen (same as you see when entering command-tab).
I logged in under a new user account and enabled secondary click and it works properly -- so this appears to be either a conflict/issue in a plist (though I deleted the plist for mouse and keyboard and the issue still remains) or possibly with some other application/utility that is installed.
Without recreating my world one-by-one, any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Brian
MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 15" 2.33 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Using SOHO Notes, Yojimbo, StuffIt, and QuickSilver

    Update on the situation:
    1) Reboot in Safe Mode (shift-key down at start-up) -- secondary click still shows the application switcher.
    2) Ran Onyx -- Execute the defaults (no others) in the Automation tab and after rebooting the issue still persists.
    3) I removed the Microsoft drivers from my system and all plist files -- and reinstalled the MS drivers. On first use of the right-button on the mouse, I got the same "secondary click" response that I get with the trackpad. Before the uninstall it had worked correctly. I remember looking at the MS Mouse config options and it showed the right button performing a control-click. Now, with the preferences at their defaults from the software removal and reinstallation, I see there is an option -- and it is the default option, that the right-mouse button performs a "secondary click".
So it isn't a trackpad or mouse issue, it is an issue that somehow the default system behavior for a secondary click has been changed from displaying the alternate menu to showing the application switcher.
So the question is, what application or utility changed that? I was evaluating the Apple Mighty Mouse a few months ago and decided against it -- the right sensor seemed to fail often. Did that have an option to modify the secondary-click? I have Google and searched for tersm like ["secondary click" setting change modification hack, etc] and haven't seen any mention of that ability -- but clearly on my machine under my main user account, this is happening.
I hope that helps get one step closer.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Secondary click not working

Hi, since I updated to Lion I can not enable the secondary click on the Track Pad on system preferences. Does any body know how can I fix this?

    Thanks for replying!
I think we all are using our trackpad (at least I do).
I try to explain (sry, but I'm german and so is the setting-language)
Here I selected the secondary-click! It even shows the wrong explain-video on the right! (look at the second picture)
It does not work! And after closing the window and reopen it, the secondary-click is not selected anymore! It still shows the wrong video by the way.

  • Magic Mouse Primary and Secondary Clicks Switched

Recently I picked up a Magic Mouse and have since found some very strange things that I don't know how to fix:
The primary and secondary clicks are switched. As in, under mouse settings when I select the secondary click to be on the right, only the primary click works on the right side and everything else is a secondary click. It is also very annoying because every time I have more than one finger touching the surface it counts as a secondary click. If anyone knows how to fix this I would really appreciate feedback.
I looked around in settings and couldn't find anything regarding this matter. I fiddled with some stuff but never got it working properly.
    Feedback much appreciated!

Looking at another thread in this forum, I see some people who had older apple mice installed before the magic mouse are having this problem with the magic mouse.
I had an older wireless mouse that would take right-clicks before I set up the magic mouse. Unfortunately when I connect the older wireless mouse I can no longer access it's preferences. It only gives me the preferences a generic one button mouse. Somewhere there must be some set of files I can delete and it will forget this old mouse.
I am pretty disheartened after a week of this. One of the benefits to a mac is that I shouldn't have to dig around removing drivers and such

  • Do someone knows why the secondary click does´t work after the mac os lion´s installation?

Well, after that I´ve installed the new Mac OSX Lion...and navigate trough the panel,I see that the secondary click doesn´t work. I mark it in the trackpad´s panel but when I open it again,it shows the option with no mark,do someone knows why?

Same here. Tried a restart but that didn't help.

  • Problems with the secondary click after updating to 10.7.4

    Hi there,
since my update to 10.7.4 on my MacBook Air I have a problem with the secondary click. I configured it to "click on right side", but some times and espacially after wake-up my MBA the secondary click is not working. So I have to switch to the System Preferences and remove the hook at secondary click and set it again. Than everything is working again.
Has some one the same problem or even know how to solve this?
    Thanks

I have had the issue with a Snow Leopard but never with Lion.
Can you go to System Preferences>Displays>Color and select your profile.
I had made 3 profiles and they are all still there and my iMac is still using the same one I previously selected

  • Secondary click in Lion, Macbook Pro 4,1

I have an early 2008 macbook pro (Macbook Pro 4,1).
In Lion, the only way to right-click is using ctrl+click. If I select "Secondary click" in System Preferences/Trackpad, it gets automatically un-selected when I exit System Preferences. This is very frustrating. Any idea how to fix it?

Add my name to the list. This happens with ALL 15" Macbook Pros 4,1.
The 17" Macbook Pro 4,1 is immune, and the 13" Macbook Pro didn't exist at the time.
I work for a University, thus we got Lion early for testing purposes. It was obvious on July 1st that this was an issue, and so we posted on the developer forums about it. Got several replies from other developers with the same laptops that have the same issue, but no official response from Apple.
Bought Lion for my personal laptop today (which happens to also be a 15" MBP 4,1), and the issue still exists.
So, I should think Apple is aware of it by now. Hopefully it is fixed in the first round of bug fixes.

  • I used to be able to have two ways to secondary click in 10.6.  Now I can only pick one in System Preferences/Trackpad.

Is there any way I can have secondary click activated by two fingered tap on trackpad AND by clicking the bottom right of the trackpad?
    I have a Macbook, Late 2008

They've consolidated the options as you see.  You can still two fingered tap and click but you need to use two fingers to click.  You can do this anywhere on the trackpad.

  • OS X Lion secondary click is not working, any help

    More details needed.
Are you using an Apple mouse or a 3rd party mouse? Can you enable it in System Preferences > Mouse? Can you Control + click and get the menu like you would when you use secondary click?

  • Apps Crashes when doing a secondary click (right click)

When I'm in iPhoto, Adobe Reader, Word, Excel, Power Point, and I do a secondary click (or right click), the app goes non-responsive and I have to force it to shut down. Is there something I should do. I'm using Mountain Lion.

It used to be associated with a third party contextual menu item. Quit all apps first and have a look into ~/Library/Contextual Menu Items and move suspicius ones on to the desktop. Open Word again and check. If ok, one of the items you moved is the culprit.

  • Magic mouse secondary click issues

My magic mouse has started registering a secondary click wherever I click on it.  It is set up as a right click.  Have checked mouse preferences, rebooted, changed mouse battery etc, all to no avail.  any thoughts?  I'm using Lion but the mouse was perfectly fine for some time after installing it.

Thanks for suggestions but it's like you're talking chinese!
Sorry for the acronyms - I sometimes assume everyone knows what I am talking about!
The preference file is located in macintosh HD>library>preferences.  Rarely (but sometimes it happens), preference files become corrupt and then odd things happen.  OS X rebuilds preference files as needed after a restart.
