No service after rainy days

The repair guy verified that our residential park has known issues with the actual underlying cables. . Does Verizon replace bad cables? Or can they lower my price every rainy season? Problem unsolved for 5 years. Never had a Verizon problem until I moved to this park. All the residents have the same problem. So far, I've been told it's my (new) computer, my indoor phone line, my modem, my peripherals interferring. All these are now eliminated; they aren't the problem. Please advise.

Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you.
Please go to your profile page for the forum, and look in the middle, right at the top where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.

  • Keep losing service after a day

Each morning that i come in and check my sun ray server that i installed on a 4200, it seems to have dropped the service somehow. A utrestart doesn't work and trying the restart (both warm and cold) from the web administration page just give errors. I am running the v4 beta( sun-ray 3.1 with the latest patch, and the sunray connector). One thing that did seem odd to me is that i attempted to add the t-patch that was in the 3.1 zipped file. I got errors saying it was already installed, however when I did a showrev -p there was no 120880 patch. Everything seems to work just fine after a system reboot, but that is the only hting I can do to get the service back. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks,
    Tony

What does "has dropped the service" mean? What do the Sun Rays show at that point?
Are the Sun Ray daemons -- utauthd, utessiond -- still running on the server? (utauthd is actually a Java process so look for 'java ... utauthd'.) If you run utgstatus at that point what does it show?
What do the last few messages in the logfiles in /var/opt/SUNWutt/log say?
When you try utrestart, what happens?
When you try to restart from the GUI, what happens? What messages get written to the admin_log file in /var/opt/SUNWut/log?
SRSS keeps a lot of state in /tmp/SUNWut. Do you run an overnight cron job that tries to "tidy up" /tmp? If something is deleting the SRSS files in there that can certainly be enough to break Sun Ray.

  • IPhone borked on many levels after rainy day.

I was using the map feature whilst wandering in the rain yesterday. I tried to send a text but the the letter were all goingwrong, eg., backspace was registering as an "m". Later that day, I noticed screen discolouration in the form of a giant swathe across the screen like it has been wiped, and seemingly deeper in the screen an area of blobs, both shapes a shade lighter than the surrounding area.
Other problems appeared too. Mail doesn't work: "cannot get mail the password is incorrect", even though the password is correct. The phone won't switch off. It keeps suddenly waking up too, with no message. A message says the network has been lost, also not true.
    Phone's 1st gen, around 14 months old.
Could fix this prob if it's possible to upgrade to a new one when they appear!

    Hi Ben,
If you haven't already, try restarting or restoring the iPhone.
You can restart the iPhone by holding the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears> then slide to turn off> and turn the iPhone back on by pressing the Sleep/Wake again, as described on page 34 of the iPhone User Guide.
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/iPhoneUserGuide.pdf
This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 will walk you through restoring the iPhone.
If the issue persists, you can try what Tamara suggested, but the iPhone will likely need service. This article: http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/service/faq/ provides answers to Frequently Asked Questions about iPhone service in the U.S.
If you are not located in the U.S. just choose the country you're in here: http://www.apple.com/iphone/countries/ >click Online Support(bottom right corner)> iPhone service policies(upper right corner)> click "What are my service options?"
You can check the iPhone upgrade options on this Apple webpage: https://buyiphone.apple.com/WebObjects/IPACustomer.woa?sf=us

  • Problems with iPod Nano 2G after a rainy day

    Yep comrades, sh*t happens.
Today it was a very rainy day and a friend of mine was cycling to the school comfortably with his iPod Nano.
    <skip>
After coming to school, his iPod goes on but the display is completely white (background lights going perfectly) and it doesn't play the music.
Switching the iPod to PC bring the lil' nano not to its life back.
please help, my friend loves his nano 2g

I assume you're saying your friend's iPod got wet during his rainy day cycling. Assuming the problem is due to water damage your friend can try letting it "dry" for several days without turning it on then seeing if they have any success. Also try going through the 5 R's. If it is indeed water damage then it's not covered under warranty, in which case your friend would either have to go through 3rd party means to see if it can be repaired or purchase a new iPod.

  • Bad uverse service, cancelled after 11 days and was hit with $112 bill!

As this was a new installation there is a non pro rated one time charge of $49, leaving actual charge of $63. From...http://www.att.com/u-verse/explore/offer-details.jspPromotional pricing applies to service rates only and excludes taxes, equipment fees, and other charges, including a $49 service activation fee, city video cost recovery fees, where applicable, and a Broadcast TV surcharge AND....30-Day Money Back Guarantee: Must cancel all AT&T U-verse services within 30 days from service activation. Adjustment provided for monthly recurring charges only. Customer is responsible for all additional charges, including but not limited to installation, activation, On Demand, Pay per View, international calls, other pay-per-use features, non-returned equipment charges, and any other one-time fees.  There is no 70mps service, and higher speed tiers require bonded when available...The data base can be wrong.... But the billing cannot be erased, services installed, canceled within 30 days thus have no $180 early termination fee.

I've been a Uverse customer for 4 years, and a wireless one for longer than that. I moved a few weeks ago and had my uverse set up at the new house.  The install technician was great, but the news of what I had was not so great.  Long story short, the lines going to my house were not sufficient for reliable Uverse service.  I was paying for the max turbo (24mbps) service at the old address, but due to line length and the AT&T engineer not wanting to give me a bonded pair port from the VRAD, I had to downgrade to 12mbps service and only if I wasn't watching more than one HD channel.  I gave it a good honest try since I had good service at the old house.  I've run multiple speedtest.net bandwidth tests and sometimes I would hit 12, sometimes it would drop to 4 or less.  Sometimes web pages wouldn't load on the first try.  The TV pixellated often enough that it was annoying to watch.  The service  was installed on May 15th, and on May 26th I called and cancelled.  I just got a bill in Friday for $184, and I was "graciously" given a credit for $72.  The billing period listed was for May 15-June 16.  So how can 11 days of service that didn't live up to Uverse standards net me a charge of $112?  I didn't even have it half a billing cycle, so why was the credit given less than half the bill?  I don't feel I should have to pay any of it since I wasn't receiving the advertised services I ordered, and nobody I talked to when cancelling said there would be any charges or a "final bill."  According to the AT&T corporate store as well as the address check on the uverse website, I was supposed to be eligible for 70mbps service.  That clearly wasn't the reality of what I had available.  How can I make them erase this bill?

  • I have just purchased the iPhone 5s and my previous phone was backed up on iCloud. However when I restored this on my new phone my photos are still being restored after 4 days. Shows the amount there but no pictures?

I have just purchased the iPhone 5s and my previous phone was backed up on iCloud. However when I restored this on my new phone my photos are still being restored after 4 days. Shows the amount there but no pictures? Is there anything I can do to get them back as my other phone has now been cleared. On my iCloud storage it still shows that my previous phone had all the info still?? I'm confused!

Many users have lost photos while preforming a restore from backup or upgrading the iOS.   Recall, only photos in the camera roll are backed up to iCloud.  There is a way to turn backups for camera roll on/off, perhaps these users had camera roll turned off.
    See:
Settings>icloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage,  tap the device's name and on the next screen, be sure Camera Roll is turned on.
    IMPORTANT...
Photos should be regularly synced to a computer (like you store photos from a digital camera) using either USB via iTunes (on a mac use iPhoto or Aperture to move them to an album) or using photo stream.  If using Photo stream, but sure to move the received photos to a permanent album.  If you have been doing that, then you can sync those photos back to your device.
Or, you can find other apps in the app store that send camera roll photos to a service like Dropbox.
If you haven't been saving photos except relying on iCloud to store them in a backup, then that is risky, as many users have discovered.  I'm afraid I have no advice in this case - there is no "cure".

  • VM stuck on Running (provisioning) after 3 days and 3 attempts at creating a new server

We have created 2 virtual machines successfully, one is a domain controller and DNS server and the 2nd is a web server. We used Powershell scripts to achieve this.
We are trying to create a 3rd web server using the same powershell scripts as prevously, obviously though changing the service, server name and IP
addressing details but after 3 days of trying and 3 or 4 attempts the server sticks at Running (Provisioning)... then after over 24hrs displays Running (Provisioning timed out). Meanwhile my credit is almost depleted and I haven't yet got the 3rd running server!
    This is our script,
New-AzureVMConfig -Name "Servername" -InstanceSize “Small” –Image “a699494373c04fc0bc8f2bb1389d6106__Win2K8R2SP1-Datacenter-201412.01-en.us-127GB.vhd”
    | Set-AzureSubnet –SubnetNames “Subnet-1”| Add-AzureProvisioningConfig -Windows -AdminUsername “Adminuser” -Password “password” | New-AzureVM -ServiceName "Servicename" –ReservedIPName “IP002” -Location "North Europe" –VNetName “NorthEUVNet”
    How do we solve this?
We are intending using the platform to host UAT servers for our customers but we will not able to do so if we cannot build servers in a realistic
time frame. By realistic I mean within 2 hours not 2 days then it fails!
Amazon Web Services EC2 here we come!

    Hi,
    Thanks for posting here.
Request you to provide the exact error message when you run this script.
Is this an image file(.vhd), have you sysprep the image.
Did you run sysprep with generalize before uploading the custom VHD?
Is an unattend.xml on the VHD itself, maybe in %windir%\Panther\Unattend.xml, that could be conflicting with the one on the provisioning ISO?
When the VM is provisioned, an ISO is attached with an unattend.xml that drives sysprep to do things like set the computer name and enable RDP.
Try with a different location other than North Europe for test purpose.
Also, try adding the VM using Management portal. Sometimes this would be even more easier to host a VM.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Considering cancelling infinity 2 after 12 days du...

Since installation of inifinity 2 I've had poor internet speed. First I was told to wait for the stablisation peroid and the call centre assured me the speed would improve. I was intially getting 7mphs and now I have 11mphs even though I'm 0.3km away from the cabinet. So after 10 days this saturday I called them and they confirmed there is a  fault on their end. The agent over the phone asssured me that it was a simple fault which he would pass on to level 2 engineers and they would give me a call back monday(today) to resolve the issue.
So I get a call back today and the guy asks me if it as been fixed yet. Now I'm expecting him to tell me that they have fixed. Surely if you work for bt and are dealing with my issue, you should be able to tell me whether or not you have fixed the problem.
I then say It is obviously not fixed and I'm not happy being billed so early for the full month even though I haven't had full use of the speed I paid for.
He said he would speak to another department to chase up the repair. Then he got back to me after an hour to tell me that they are still working on the repair and that is it highly complex, and they will give me a call back on wednesday to let me know what is happenining.
All the while I'm paying full rate for inifinity 2 and getting standard broadband speed. If they do not fix it after the end of the week I am considering cancelling this joke of a service.
Am I entitled to a full refund of the bill they have charged considering I've not even been able to get at least half of the advertised speeds? I do not want to have to go through legal routes, just want to know if bt are reasonable when it comes to cancelling when the customer has recieved a shoddy service?
    Thanks

Can you run this checker and post back a screen shot of the results
    http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome
and use this speed tester then carry out the further diagnostics and post back a screen shot of all the results including your IP profile for up and down. This test must be done with a wired connection.

Looking at the trace it iloks weird that it is adding a -ve integer -2147483397 into the instance name.
Edited by: Abhishek on Apr 20, 2013 8:20 AM
Edited by: Abhishek on Apr 20, 2013 4:16 PM

After looking at ADF source code, ApplicationModuleImpl.doCreateViewObject() is referring to JboNameUtil.getInstNameFromDefName() which is using a static counter (int value) as suffix. The counter being an int value is reaching the upper limit and then turning out to negative when incremented and then leading to above exception.
In above stack trace the instance name is ViewDefMetadataManager4569314_-2147483397 , has a negative number at the end. So JboNameUtil.isNameValid(rsName) is returning false and the exception InvalidObjNameException is thrown at that point.
If this is the case, it appeared to be ADF bug.
Have you tested the application with application module pooling turned off? It might be an activation/passivation problem.
We use bean data control, no pooling configuration set.
Do you work in a cluster environment?
Yes but ADF is installed on a single server (Weblogic)
Do you see any more nested errors in the log?
This was the first error . After that we see same error whenever any of the UI is opened but with different VO name
Is it always three days before the error does up?
This is the first time uptime test is spawned to 3 days for this release
Does the application work after a refers or new login?
No, on new login , we see same error whenever any of the UIs is opened but with different VO name with -ve number at the end
Which operating system does the server run on? How much memory is installed?
    Windows server 2008 , 16GB
Was there a high cpu usage at the time of the error?
We are testing it using load runner and multiple users

Sorry (to boast too), you are right. I've read the wiki and created a hook, now NM restarts after resume. Thanks!
And now I've discovered that my computer only suspends the first time. Second time nothing happens when I close the tap, execute pm-suspend or the KDE menu option suspend to ram
If you have any idea it is welcome. If not I will mark the thread as solved in a couple of days and search in forums and wiki.
this usually happens when your hook doesn't exit. pm-suspend never finishes because it's waiting for the hook to exit and the second pm-suspend will block until the other pm-suspend is finished. Please post your hook.

I have purchased IPhone 5S in Florida Mall when I was traveling to US from India.I bought this phone in unlocked condition. I started my phone when I came back in India. After few days (4-5 days) it started giving blue dump regularly. Then I have contacted Authorized service centre (Maple)  in India (Maharashtra – New Mumbai) and then Maple checked with Apple and Apple said this phone is not under International Warranty. But when I purchased this phone form Apple Florida Mall ,I have been told by Zach McKenzie (Sales Person) that it has an international warranty and u can approach to any authorized centre in India for any issues. And that’s the reason I have bought this phone.
But now I am in big trouble so tell me how can u help me in this regards.

Note that the iPhone warranty is NOT international and never has been. Your iPhone must be serviced in the country of purchase.

  • High memory utilization after few days - ciscoworks LMS 4.0.1

    Hello,
I have the problem that our ciscoworks server gets out of memory after few days. The memory utilization is always getting higher an higher (above 95%). Sometimes it is only after 3 days and sometimes it is after 1 week. So it happens not regulary. Has anyone an idea what could be the problem? I have made an screenshot from the services which use a lot of memory. And at this time the memory utilization is getting higher and higher again....I think there is a problem with tomcat or dbsrv10.exe, there are also a lot of cwjava.exe running.
    Kindly regards
    David Mayer

    Hello,
I have the same problem. First time I've tried to upgrade memory from 8gb to 16gb but I am still experiencing same issues (Memory is running on 98%). I'm not sure exactly what process it is causing this issue, because when I've checked all proccesses from all users running on this server and count them there is no 15 gb at all. My guess is the same for tomcat server which is responsible for RME collector, or correct me if I'm wrong.
Do you have any idea what can cause this problem.
I've tried to upgrade then to Cisco works Prime lan management 4.1, but server went with same issues.
    Thanks a lot

  • Time Machine backups slowing down after 25 days

I am experiencing a peculiar kind of behaviour from Time Machine under
Mountain Lion (10.8.2). In the multiple threads on Time Machine issues,
I could not find this exact problem described so I am wondering if
anyone else has seen the same thing or even has a solution.
Like for many others, the basic symptom is that Time Machine becomes
extremely slow. In my case this always happens about 25 days after the
last reboot. I am using a Mid 2010 27-inch IMAC and a Mid 2010 Mac Pro,
both connected to a Time Capsule via ethernet. Both are showing the
    same behaviour.
Originally I was letting Time Machine do its regular hourly backups,
this has now been changed to twice a day using TimeMachineEditor. The
change has made no difference, backups are still getting slow after
25 days. This is accompanied by kernel_task gradually ramping up
its CPU usage, from below a percent to several percent.
Here are the backupd entries from a "normal" backup:
This takes 3-4 min, which I find tolerable - although I
am always surprised by the rather large number of files that

I have now rebooted the machine, and things are back to normal.
In about 25 days, I fully expect that things will start to grind to
a halt again. On the MacPro, which has now been running for 16
days, things should be fine for another 9-10 days.

These are the messages from the first slow backup. This one was only marginally slower than a normal backup, but a sure sign that things were going awry nonetheless:
