No service problem Iphone 3gs

Hi guys wonder if anyone can help. I got the Iphone 3gs with the Orange network about 2 weeks ago. It is on 5.1 IOS and as far as im aware was made after 2011. Anyway everything was working fine until I was flying to New Zealand, and halfway through the journey(Malaysia) I noticed "No service" I did'nt think anything of it and now I'm in New Zealand it still has the same thing.
I'm not sure if it is a software issue, or if I have to let my UK netowork know I'm out of the country.
I tried restoring the phone and still nothing. But before that, when I connected to my laptop, it kept in restore mode, and the timer loop kept popping up every 5-10 seconds, even when unplugged.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I reckon it is a problem with your International Roaming.
This should help.

  • No service in Iphone 3GS after upgrading to 6.0.1

    Hi,
I have an Iphone 3GS with IOS version 4.1. Last saturday I upgraded it to IOS 6.0.1 and since then I get No service and Searching messages.
I tried my SIM card in a different Iphone and it worked fine. I tried another working SIM card in my Iphone, and it also got No Service or Searching.
I tried restoring, but still no luck.
My phone worked fine till this upgrade, for both calls and internet connection.
Any suggestion on how to proceed?
Please techies, these devices should have a way to go back to a previosu version of the software which ws working fine.
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,

It is obvious that I did not make myself clear in my first message.
The problem is with the phone after doing an upgrade, It is an Apple issue, that is why I am posting it in this forum.
Once more, "I tried my SIM card in a different Iphone and it worked fine. I tried another working SIM card in my Iphone, and it also got No Service or Searching." There is nothing wrong with the SIM card, it works fine, in fact I have it running in another phone till I sort out this issue.
The upgrade does not depend on Movistar or any other carrier, and this problem is happening worldwide.
I am afraid that you are misleading the problem.

  • No service on iphone 3gs after updating to 6.1.6

After updating my iPhone 3gs to 6.1.6, am having a "No Service" problem. I can't even activate my iPhone.

You can try resetting your iPhone by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • My iphone 3gs no service, my iphone 3gs no service

Hi I have iphone 3gs ios 6.1.3 but many times it shows no service,I tried restore many time but didnt work
    Can you help me?

Try taking the SIM out of the phone and putting it back in. If that does not work, try getting a new SIM from your carrier.

  • Re: "no service" on iPhone 3Gs (version 4.3.2), my 3 kids all have iPhone 4 (version 4.1) with no issues! We are all with the same carrier (vodafone) and live in the same location. Please help me fix this!

My iPhone 3Gs (version 4.3.2) has decided to no longer connect to my service provider/carrier (vodafone AU). There are 3 iPhone 4's (version 4.1) using the same carrier living in the same location, having no related issues. I have thought about updating firmware or restoring the iPhone, but not sure if thats the way to go?? My iPhone starts out recognising my carrier....searches & searches... but then.... connection "FAILS" and states "my network provider is no longer available"!!  Any suggestions?...please!!

Anyone at all can advise- still not sorted :-(

  • No service after iPhone 3GS Factory Unlock. (This phone has NOT been jailbroken)

    Hi
I would be greatful of any advice for my problem. I have bought an iPhone 3GS from my friend who had it locked to O2. She has had it since new and never jailbroken it.
I have just got it factory unlocked and also have not jalibroken the phone. When I restored the phone I got the congratulatory message on iTunes, and it shows the correct phone number for the SIM I want to use and the carrier listed in Settings>General>About is now correct too.
I am now receiving no signal whatsoever. I have tried restoring network settings, restoring the whole phone again, toggling airplane mode, removing the sim and reinserting when off/ on etc and nothing is changing. Whenever I put my SIM my old phone, it's picking up signal absolutely fine.
If anyone has any other advice, I would be very grateful.
    Thank you.

If the Unlock was NOT done through O2...  then that would be the cause of your issue.

  • I keep losing service on iphone 3gs

it seems as though everytime my iphone 3gs goes to sleep i have to go to settings and click on the airplane mode. i have to wait a few seconds/minutes then click airplane mode off. the phone begins searching for a signal and then i have service again. this is a constant issue and has been for about a month or so. i am using ios 4.3.3
the phone generally shows 3-4 bars and 3g or E but still will not pick up service.

This is also happening to me. Whenever the phone loses signal, even though i get full bars and the 3G signal on, i need to turn on Airplane Mode  and then off to get a connection working. This is very recent and my carrier says there's nothing wrong with their side. I live in Brazil, btw... so this is happening all over, i'm guessing

  • My cousin its big problem.iphone 3gs is no firmware, blutoot pls help me

    pls help,iphone 3gs no modem firmware,bluetoot,carrier

I finally bit the bullet this morning and set up my iPad as a new one after backing up. It didn't wipe out my stuff like I thought it would, but I did have to re-set all of my synch settings including apps which took a while to set up. My apps were still on the iPad with the 'sync apps' tab unchecked so I checked it and matched up all of my apps on the iPad screen using iTunes before I hit apply. Once that was done, there were a few apps that moved over to the second window, but was easily fixed. Everything's back to normal - assuming all of the videos and music you had on the iPad are in your iTunes so you don't loose anything. It kept my music, but deleted my videos. Other data was still in-tact. I never had to re-enter any passwords for Facebook or Netflix, but my email was all gone (not missing it since it's all online anyway). Hope that helps.

  • "No Service" on iPhone 3GS since upgrading to OS 4.3.1

I've just upgraded my iphone OS to 4.3.1 & can no longer pick up any signal (locations in London where I have had no problem in the past & other phones are fine), I seen to permanently have the "No Service" message in the top left.
    So far I have tried:
    switching it on & off
resetting using the sleep & home button
    resetting the network settings
    restoring from a backup
taking the simcard out & putting it back in again
Nothing has worked so far. As i understand there is no rollback procedure with Apple OS, is there anything else I can try?
Not sure if it makes any difference but I have a Dutch T-mobile simcard but there's never been a problem using it back in London or upgrading in London. Any help appreciated!

I'm having the same problem. The last couple of days my cell service has been weird - I'll make a call and it will immediately fail, for example.
This afternoon I tried to make a call and it tried to connect (start ringing) for a loooooong time. I gave up and my service status went to "Searching..." and stayed that way. I am in an area with full 3G coverage, and our other iPhone (3G) and 2 iPads had full 3G signals. I was able to make a call with the 3G phone so I know it's nota service or signal issue.
A few minutes ago I had full 5 bars but could not place a call. The status just says AT&T, not "3G" like normal. If I try to place a call it just hangs, and doesn't even say anything under the person's name (like where it normally says "calling" or "dialing" or whatever it is). If I cancel it will quickly flash to "calling" then immediately to "cancelled".
This is really weird. Texts will not go through, either.
I'm about to do a restore so hopefully that does the trick. FWIW, the phone is not jailbroken and never has been.
