No Service then Emergency Call screen?

This all started back about a month ago, my iPhone 4 ended up having No Service. I was connected to a WIFI connection at the time so I checked on the Internet on the phone to see if there was any method to resolving the No Service issue, people said to use the Airplane Mode, did that didn't work. Then I tried turning it off and turning it back on. Didn't work there was 3G for like 10 seconds then it went to two bars than it went to one bar than No Service again. I turned it off again and turned it back on, this time it sent me to an Emergency Call screen which it then said No Service and slide to Emergency Call. I clicked on the little I in the corner and it said UNKNOWN and UNKNOWN under IMEI. So I turned the phone off then tried a different area, finally it sent me back to the Home screen and I was able to received 3G service for a while until like an hour later than my phone was sitting on my desk out of no where my iPhone pops up and says "You have No Service Please restore from iTunes" or something between those words.
So I hooked it up to my computer and restored my phone from a previous backup, it semed to work perfectly fine but that was just the beginning of my problems. Around recently about Friday the 13th, I got the No Service issue again, I did the turning the phone off and turned it back on. This really annoyed me since I was beginning to get very upset that this No Service issue was happening to me, I was near someone who had an iPhone 4 as well I asked them if they were having issues they said they weren't. I'm using AT&T BTW, so I did the turning on and off again. I ended up getting the Emergency Call screen again and it said No Service. So I kept turning it back on and off 70% of the time it was the Emergency Call screen and the other 30% was the Home screen but then within seconds it would go to No Service again.
So I moved to a different location (another part of town) and I got the 3G signal but then soon after I recieved No Service again. This issue went on and off and it was getting worse and worse by the day. Saturday the 14th, that morning I was using the phone to call someone half way through it cut out, No Service this was the day when it just stopped working for me. I ignored it and woke up 7 hours later I then used Skype on the phone WIFI connection worked but then saw I had No Service I turned it off and turned it back on. Emergency Call again, so it brought me back to the Home screen, this was the last time I would be seeing my Home screen. No Service again, turned it off and it brought me to the Emergency Call screen again, turned it off and turned it back on, EC screen again. It turned it off and turned it back on.
At this point I'm thinking to myself my iPhone is dead, so someone tells me to try to restore it. I hooked my iPhone to my Mac, it said "Waiting for iPhone" to sync I suppose. Then it says unable to sync Brandon's iPhone please restore, so I restored it, then it seemed the restore process went fine, but when the phone restarted it took me back to the Emergency Call screen. So is my phone pretty much dead? I hope this long descriptive discussion post is some help so if anyone else has gone into this problem or knows if a solution. Do I need to take my phone back and it get replaced?

I had the same problem. After the firmware update, iTunes claimed that it couldn't complete the phone registration. I traced it to an SSL web proxy, which confused iTunes (it couldn't handle the SSL man-in-the middle). A normal web browser will show a dialog stating that the SSL cert is invalid, and will give you an opportunity to accept it. iTunes doesn't gracefully handle this situation. Once I bypassed the SSL web proxy, iTunes synced up successfully.

    I upgraded my iphone 5 to ios 6.1 and now I can't get past the Emergency call screen.
    I try to hook it into my computer with iTunes but it says I need to unlock the phone with my password but I can't find anywhere to do that.
    I tried the reset but that didn't help.

    There should be a Black Button with a White Arrow pointing left at the Bottom of the screen.

    Try resetting:
    Hold both the home and power buttons at the same time until the Apple boot logo appears. No data will be lost.

    I know exactly what you meant and what your question is, and the answer is no.
    You can call any number from the emergency call selection.
    And as I already provided, I want it this way. If I was in dire straights and I was able to place a call and I can only dial 911 and there is no answer at that particular time or lines are busy (which can occur), I want the ability to dial any number, not just 911, and the same for anyone that is with me if I'm unable to place a call and my iPhone is the only cell phone available.
    If my iPhone was lost or stolen, I would call AT&T first to have my iPhone's SIM card disabled. Someone that finds or steals my iPhone makes a few calls in the interim before my iPhone's SIM card is disabled by AT&T, so what? I have a calling plan and a rollover minutes credit.

    It could be two causes.
    1.  It's the "real" emergency call screen that is stuck and you may need for Verizon to reactivate your phone and possibly a new SIM.
    2. It's just a lock screen that says "Emergency Call" at at the bottom. It's waiting for you to unlock it with a PIN/Unlock code.
    The OP never replied back so I don't know if either worked.

    Hi everyone!
    My iPhone stuck at the 'emergency call' screen. I restored it and at the end I had to 'activate' the phone... But when I try to activate it (connect to iTunes) iTunes
    gives me a message: ...The Network connection is timed out... Please try again later. But I can open the iTunes Store and download apps and music, and the Network is in order... Anyone knows what to do? Or how to 'activate' the iPhone without iTunes?

    You can't activate your phone without itunes. The most common reasons for the network timed out error during a restore or software upgrade are firewalls, anti-virus & anti-malware. So, turn off or disable all of that stuff, especially windows firewall & try again.

    It should be your selected wallpaper at Settings > Wallpaper.
    If you mean can you have a different wallpaper when selecting the Emergency Call option from the default wallpaper, the answer is no.

  • Droid Charge - dropping service, no incoming calls, screen freezing, going black...

    This is my 4th Droid Charge. I've never been so disappointed. Nor have I ever needed one to work more. Not a good time to have a phone that just plain is not up to par.
    This replaced a Fascinate, that I did not have problems with until Verizon did some sort of "download" on.
    Ph #1 - literally acted possessed. Until the manager saw for himself after treating me like a mental case. ie "Well, set the screen time out for TEN MINUTES, if the screen keeps going black!" So he did & it went black, not to be "restored" without being turned off & re-started. Then, when it did "time-out" suddenly it went into V-Cast...no one was near it. It also would go into airplane mode...I could not retrieve voice mail; after entering the 2nd of 4 #'s, the screen went black.
    Finally, it got replaced after then entire staff "witnessed" the phone I had to live with day in & day out. Guess the customer is always wrong....until proven time & time again, that the phione REALLY IS defective despite years of never complaining about a phone.
    Ph#2 - I NEED the voice dial....I do. I travel in my work  I have appts. If I am going to be late  NEED to be courteous & call. While driving on the freeway, getting off & stopping only makes things ten times worse.  While in the cup-holder, I can tap that....say who to call...and viola...BUT....it immediately says "Turn phone off" ...then try again. Well. how many times can you do that?? I mean really. How many times are you expected to turn your phone off for an app that comes installed ON the phone & should work. Right??
    Ph#3 - Would NOT hold the signal...AND Voice Dial did not work.... did not back up info....messages did not come through, nor did phone calls. {even in the Verizon Store!! NO SIGNAL...they erased my phone for the umpteenth time!!! Grrrrrrr]
    Ph #4 - arrived with YouTube loaded...to "How to Use Your Android Phone" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No kidding.
    Screen locks up. Screen goes black & phone turns itrself off. Will not hold a signal...calls not coming through....
    I saw others are also having these same issues. VERY frustrating trying to do "business" from a phone that is totally uncoopereative & unrealiable. 
    Very disappointed in this phone. 

    Steve, if the tech says get a replacement then that is what I would do.
    But before I did, I would have them walk me thru a hard reset.
    Sometimes that will help with ALL sorts of problems.

    Does anyone know a contact number for someone senior at BT?
    I have had some major issues and have now been waiting for a callback from someone named Sarah for over a week. I have called back twice to chase/complain but have been told that she is the only one that can help me.
    It's been almost 3 weeks since I moved and I still have no broadband.

    It seems the SIM requirements for this situation are different for the 2G.  From that document...
    If you no longer have the SIM that was used with the original iPhone, and the original iPhone displays the "Connect To iTunes" screen, contact your carrier to get a replacement SIM.
    I don't know if you'll need an account or not... sorry, I don't have experience with a 2G.

  • Iphone 3G stuck in Emergency Call Screen

    I have an imac, ipad2, two iphone3GS, and recently my sis came down to india from NZ with an iPhone3G, which is not working.
    I put in the SIM card. After putting it on, it takes me to the Apple logo with the iTunes connector image. Also iTunes does not detect this iPhone3G, whilst it detects all my other apple devices.
    Have tried it even on Windows based iTunes, no luck.
    Can you help us find a solution to this problem?

    This was solved!  What we had to do is go to the admin consule of the exchange server and delete the mobile device from the user account. Once that was done, we re-added the exchange account to the iPhone 3G and it took the password. Case closed.
