No service with Galaxy SIII

I have had the SIII for about 2 months now. I had the iPhone 4S previously and had great service with it so I know it's not the area I live in. Since I got the SIII I have had trouble sending and receiving texts and now I very rarely have phone service. I have called Verizon and they have replaced my SIM card. I like the actual phone better than the iPhone and really don't want to have to switch back to it but if I don't have service with this one I don't see much of an option.

    Hi sarjohn05,
I want you to enjoy your phone and I am here to help! What is your current zip code? Do yo experience the issue in or outdoors? Are you using a 3rd party messaging application? I realize this is a relatively new device for you, when did the issue begin? I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Thanks for you contribution to our community forums,

  • Issues with iPhone 5 texting to Galaxy SIII

I have an iPhone 5 and my son just changed from an iPhone 5 to a Galaxy SIII. I am receiving his texts, but now he can't receive my texts unless I turn my iMessage off, but doing this is conflicting with my other friends who have iPhones. Is there an easier way to send him texts without having to turn my iMessage off/on each time I want him to receive my texts?

Because that is what you added to your profile, iPod touch.  And that's what you had selected when you created this question.  Just because you clicked on 'iPhone 5' in the 'Select a Category' option, that's not the same as selecting your particular affected product below it under 'Product'
More of that stellar customer reading comprehension at work.  You do realize you're not talking to Apple here?  This is a user-to-user technical support forum, which was made clear in the Terms of Use that you agreed to.  I know, that was over three years ago, but still... reading comprehension for the win.

  • IPhone 5 proven faster than Galaxy SIII with benchmark tests!!!!!

Thought this might be useful to people thinking about the iPhone 5---speed test AND real world drop tests!!! iPhone 5 zips past Galaxy SIII in Speed Test http://news.yahoo.com/iphone-5-zips-past-galaxy-iii-speed-test-132936436.html iPhone 5 Humiliates Galaxy SIII in Drop Test http://news.yahoo.com/iphone-5-humiliates-galaxy-iii-drop-test-video-154148011.html iPhone 5's A6 processor found to have a dual-core CPU, triple-core GPU http://news.yahoo.com/iphone-5-a6-processor-found-dual-core-cpu-220506025.html

LOL...nothing...just been trying like hell to find some speed test..and stumbled across these plus the drop test....the phone is a pretty hot topic and thought that I would provide some objective facts rather than the normal colorful metaphor bashing that seems to be the norm on alot of forums.  Rather than just saying what I think, I think is more important to see and read objective facts and then let the viewer draw his or her own conclusion.

  • My old Galaxy SII is outperforming my new iPod Touch 5!?!

I just got a new iPod Touch 5 Space Gray.
I'm testing it against my old Samsung Galaxy SII.
My old G SII is outperforming my new iPod 5 in a few areas and it's making me very disappointed.
My iPod 5 freezes on online video while my G SII doesn't.
My iPod 5 won't screen-flip while my G SII will.
A few other issues as well is making me wonder if I got a lemon or if the iPod 5 is just buggy.
    Not impressed thus far.

My GalaxySII is only running on wifi as I don't currently pay ATT for service.
I'm on a password protected but shared network at home with my MacBook Pro, iPOD5, and Galaxy SII all up and running on the same wifi signal.
I'm watching RT streaming news on livestation on all 3 devices and the iPod5 is the only one with poor resolution and freezing!!
The GalaxySII actually has a considerably larger screen than the iPod5.
There are so many things I love about the iPod5, but to have these things that I use all the time be glitchy straight away is making me blue.

  • Why won't autocorrect work? Galaxy SIII

Last night my Galaxy SIII updated automatically (I'm not sure what the update was, but everything looks very different). I was just getting used to typing on the Galaxy, but since the update, autocorrect/completion doesn't work at all. It still suggests words, but it no longer automatically fills in words/corrects misspelled words. For instance, if I type the letters "i" and "m", it no longer corrects the word to "I'm." It just keeps "im." The same goes for other misspellings. If I typed the name "Kieth" it would leave it as is (incorrect), whereas before the update it would have corrected it to "Keith." I have tried just about every setting under Language and Input and the Samsung Keyboard, and none of them fix this problem. Is there anything I can do to revert it back to the way it used to be?

That is how PR people avoid saying the truth. "strategically updated" means that Apple sued Samsung (http://bgr.com/2012/02/10/apple-sues-samsung-over-autocorrect-patent/) in their ever ongoing patent war; that news article is pretty skimpy on details.
The patent that is relevant to this topic is http://www.google.com/patents/US8074172 The important portion of the patent abstract is "replacing the current character string in the first area with the suggested replacement if the user activates a delimiter key on the keyboard". The "first area" is what you typed in wrong, and the suggested replacement. If you continue to read the patent is basically describes how auto-correct functions on nearly every smartphone.
3rd party apps (like swiftkey) would likely be forced to make similar updates if Apple decided to sue them.
This is the huge problem with software patents in the US - they help big companies such as Apple. Little companies can't even begin to defend their patents against the Apple legal team. Even worse - the consumer is the one who suffers. Samsung users have Apple to thank for this "update".
This is why the general community needs to patronize companies / technologies that favor openness. The ability for you to control YOUR property - patents go blindly in the face of this. Moreover software patent reform is desperately needed in the US. It is one thing when a pharmaceutical company spends a billion dollars developing a new drug and needs to make money off of it for years to receive money to continue development of new drugs. The case is completely different in the software arena - the space bar auto correct is not novel and probably was done many years before Apple wrote the patent. But they have so much money to spend on lawyers and the USPTO is overworked that these patents are granted and then the courts are bound to enforce them.

  • Why can't I use Galaxy SII here??

Am looking at 'Straight Talk' offered by Wal-Mart via Verizon. I would not be able to use a Galaxy SII in the Montana area...but could in Dallas Texas...why?
I understand there are 4 different types of towers- I CAN use a Galaxy SII in Montana with AT&T, and also in Dallas.
Why not in Montana with Verizon?
    Thanks
ps I prefer to use the prepaid/no contract types, as I move to different areas frequently as I am a 'traveler' in the medical field.

There is no galaxy s2 that is compatible with Verizon's network.

  • Why can't i import photos from my Samsung Galaxy SII

In the past I have been able to import photos from my phone, a Samsung Galaxy SII. For some reason, I am no longer able to do this. When I connect the phone by USB, two "cameras" appear under Devices in iPhoto. One titled "NO NAME" and one titled "Untitled". Both appear to be empty, neither has any photos available for download. However the phone appears to be functioning properly in all respects. I can take new photos and see in the Gallery that there are any number of images which I have not yet downloaded to my Mac.
Does anyone have any suggestions for troubleshooting this issue?

A couple of people have mentioned an issue with this device. It appears that the OS is not storing the images in the standard way. Can you use another method to get the pics to your Mac? Bluetooth?

  • Can i sync iMac with Galaxy S4?

can i sync iMac with Galaxy S4?

In what way do you want to Sync your S4 with your Mac? Calendars, Contacts, Email? That is all done Online from a service like Gmail, Yahoo, MS Office365/Outlook.com or Apple's iCloud. No more Syncing over a USB gable that I know of. Not even Apple "i" phones and pads do that anymore.

  • Bluetooth tether ipad 3 to Galaxy SIII

I'm trying to bluetooth tether my ipad 3 to my Samsung Galaxy SIII, they are paired and connected, but I can't access the net with the ipad.  I have successfully accessed the net through the phone via Wi-Fi, but I can't via bluetooth tether...?

Unless things changed with the iPad 3, bluetooth is used for headphones and keyboards. It doesn't support data transfer.

  • Can the Galaxy SIII have a white on black Settings/Setup Screen?

I was at the Verizon store yesterday comparing the Galaxy SIII to the new  iPHone5. I need a white on black theme, like my iPhone4 has. The Galaxy had a white on black theme, except the Settings page. Could someone please verify that this is correct? I couldn't find a way to make the Settings or Setup page white on black.
I would appreciate anyone's input, the Galaxy would be my choice because of it's larger screen and feature's, but it's not having a white on black Settings page is a show-stopper for me.....

Thank you for replying! I guess I missed it when spending time with it, at the VZW Store. The bigger screen makes it my preference over the iphone5. Apple's only lengthening the new iphone by a half inch, just doesn't cut it.

  • Galaxy SIII 64GB internal memory

    Howdy
I would like to buy a Galaxy SIII. When I went to purchase one last week, the local BEST BUY person said that the 32gb internal memory version was discontinued. I looked on the Samsung website and it says a 64gb internal memory version will be "available soon."
I asked Samsung, they did not know the release date.
I would like to make an educated decision on waiting for this version or getting the 32gb version, because I need a new phone.
The internal memory is supposedly faster than the expandable memory, so I would prefer the 64gb version.
Does anyone know of (at least) an approximate release date for this phone with 64gb internal memory? I think it's avail in europe now, but i need to use it with Verizon (massachusetts)....
Are there any other features on that version (64gb) that would be an advantage over the 32gb version?
    Thanks!

only you can answer that question
how much memory do you need?
how much did you use on your last phone?
heck i have 14 out of 16gb free after 2 years
is it something you need? something you want?
how long are you willing to wait?
how much are you willing to pay?
in my experience what you want is always released 1 week after you cant return what you just bought
oh the galaxy nexus 2 is right around the corner too............

  • Galaxy SIII Bad connection/Dropped calls

My Galaxy SIII has always had great service. Within the past month I haven't been able to make or reciece a phone call without it dropping. I have received a new SIM card. Still nothing. Incredibly frustrated!!

        Hi MMGILL04,
Dropped calls are no good! We can help here. What software version is your device on? Go to settings>about phone>software version. Are you able to call the caller right back? Does this happen in one particular location or many locations?
    Thanks,

  • Problem connecting Samsung Galaxy SII to Mac book Pro

Hello. I have issue with connecting Samsung Galaxy SII to Mac book Pro Late 2011! When i connect phone to Mac via usb, phone makes sound but nothing happens. Even if i open Transfet tool. Problem is not in Phone or wire as on another computers like my MinMac it works fine. Also on Windows side all is ok. Mac book Pro USB ports also are ok as it finds and open my iPhone5! Is there possibility that there is some faults with USB drivers in Mac book Pro! How can i reset or restart usb drivers if fault is there! What else you can suggest to try?
    Thanks!
    Best regards,

i did went to Samsung Support: here is the result of it:
Isabella: Hi, thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support. How may I help you today?
Visitor: Hello Isabella. How are you today ?
Isabella: I am fine. Thank you for asking.
Isabella: Please proceed with the query.
Visitor: I hope you can help me fix connecting issue for Galaxy S II with my Mac Book Pro late 2011. It was working till some day and now it does not recognise it when i connect phone via USB. I should note that on Windows on same machine or on my Mini Mac it works fine. so it can't be problem in wire or usb ports. Could not find answer in Apple forums and in forums they did suggest to turn here! I hope you can help me!
Isabella: I understand that you are finding difficulties connecting device to Mac. Am I correct?
Visitor: yes. but only to one specific Mac. as to others it connects without a problem.
Isabella: Thank you for the details.
Visitor: i think problem is in driver only i can't find how to manually remove from Mac
Isabella: May I know the model number of your phone? To know the model number of the phone, please tap on Home>> Applications>> Settings>> About phone.
    Visitor: GT-I9100
Isabella: Thank you for the model number.
Isabella: However as you are able to connect the device to windows and Mini Mac then there is no issue with the device. This seems to be an issue with the Mac.
Isabella: However we in Samsung US do not have the instructions on uninstalling drivers on Mac.
Isabella: I request you to contact apple for support related to Mac.
Visitor: Yess it is probably issue with drivers on that particular Mac. Might be you can guide me to location where Kies or phone driver is stored on mac? I then will try to manually delete is from system or replace from another machine
Isabella: The model number you have provided is an international model and we do not have any information on the device you are referring to.
Isabella: I would have surely provided you with the information if we had the information available with us.
Visitor: If you don't know might be you could escalate to some higher level ?
Isabella: It was a pleasure assisting you. Thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support. If you have a minute, please click on the blue “X close” button to receive a transcript of your chat and fill out a brief survey to help us serve you better. Have a wonderful day!
Chat session has been terminated by the Samsung Agent.
So i was terminated and left without answer. But i did not expect anything else from Samsung Support..
So might be someone of you know where drivers are located? i could try to copy them from one machine to another manualy!!!

  • I have a Galaxy SIII and I stopped receiving visual notification for text messages.  How do I correct it?

I have a Galaxy SIII and recently stopped receiving visual notification for text messages.  How do I correct it?

Hmmm that's strange TopDiver. Let's get to the bottom of this. Have you checked the notification settings on the device? To verify the notification setting on the device click on menu>settings>sound>notification sound, then test device notifications.
    Thank You,

Having horrible service with 4GLTE I have had 3G for several weeks (I am not the only person I know having this problem), I have reset my network settings and it did not resolve the issue.  I am also unable to send SMS and text messages without them either failing or not sending at all.  Is there an outage in the Cleveland, Ohio area (zip codes 44129, 44134, 44137) or anything else I can do to resolve this issue?

Not that I'm a Verizon employee, but I have experience in the field. An LTE tower will only extend up to, on a perfect day, with no elevation, 6-7 miles. On a typical day, you will be lucky at four (4) miles. The three ZIP codes you've given are all within about a 12 mile radius. That would mean that 2-3 towers are currently down at the same time, and Verizon would know about it within the hour. Being it's Cleveland, I'm sure they would receive numerous calls regarding an outage of that size.
My point is that if you're having issues in all three ZIP codes, chances are it's a phone issue. If you're handset is simply not receiving LTE, but still receiving 3G, that would signify a SIM card issue. You need to get your SIM card replaced.
