No sessionstore.js in ~/.mozilla/firefox/*/

Hi,
I lost all my open tabs in firefox. Again! It is so easy to do. Open another instance and close the first one before the second and it's all gone.
After some googling I discovered that there should be a sessionstore.js file in ~/.mozilla/firefox/*/, but I can't find it. I only have a folder named sessionstore-backups and it actually contains files named previous.js, recovery.bak, recovery.js and they seem to contain my tabs. However, I have no idea, where to copy them to restore that session.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks,
Max

Firefox still uses the sessionstore.js file in the profile folder.
Only the sessionstore.bak file in no longer used and has been replaced by backups and previous versions in the sessionstore-backups folder.
You can check <b>browser.sessionstore.*</b> prefs including browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash on the <b>about:config</b> page and reset browser.sessionstore prefs that are user set (bold) via the right-click context menu to the default value to make sure that Session Restore is enabled and working properly.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).

    * It could be helpful if there is a diagnostic program/add-on which control all
    installed add-ons.
    * It could even be helpful If I can type/write more as 1500 characters in a
message, because I have to tell my story (Mozilla problems) and I want to
place the output of the 'terminal' (Sessionstore) in the same message.
    * It even shall be helpful if there is a list (like in the early days of the Windows-
browser), where I can find the description and/or the solution of the Firefox- errors. My terminal give me p.e. this output : (firefox:10353): Gtk-CRITICAL
    **: IA__gtk_clipboard_set_with_data: assertion `targets != NULL' failed;
Firefox: 10353 says me nothing, so..... there are errors enough, but the
crashes don't come from the browser. I have taken all steps, my last is to
    re-install FF24 about:blank, vdpau.... e.s.o
    * If I place a message here I can only put a picture-file, not a text or Gedit-file.

  • Why don't restored tabs show titles in Firefox 4? They just say "mozilla firefox."

In Firefox 3.6 when I restored tabs, all of the headings of the tabs immediately loaded. Now in Firefox 4 the tabs are restored but at least have of the headings don't load. They just say "Mozilla Firefox." I then have to go to the sites to get the heading names to appear. I'm wondering what is going on and if this can be fixed.

App (pinned) tabs and Tab Groups (Panorama) are stored as part of the session data in the file sessionstore.js in the Firefox profile folder.

Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Browsing History" when Firefox is closed because that prevails and prevents Firefox from opening tabs from the previous session.

  • How can I stop the Mozilla Firefox Start Page from taking over my computer. I have reset the home page a half dozen times.

For the past month, every time I open Firefox, the Mozilla Start Page (with Google in the middle) takes over my home page setting (NY Times). How can I stop this from happening?

To the extent that I could, I tried the above, despite the lack of clarity at times. For example, how do the uninitiated find "sessionstore.js" and "sessionstore.bak" and the Firefox profile folder? Assuming that I eventually find them, what in the world does "check for problems" mean?
There are many of us out here with limited to moderate computer sophistication, and more detailed suggestions would be much appreciated. I am in the moderate to high category, but much of your response was marginally useful, to be kind. Not to say that I don't appreciate what you have written.

  • Why does Mozilla Firefox open to a previous session?

Whenever I launch Mozilla Firefox, a session from a little more than a week ago opens up. Usually it opens up to my homepage. Now, it opens up with 8 tabs. They are: my Yahoo mail, my Gmail, 4 other Google sites, and an Amazon site.
How can I put a stop to this?
Thank you to any and everyone with a suggestion.

    http://i.imgur.com/IfmyJdq.jpg
    http://i.imgur.com/CZQ8dw0.jpg

  • During the installation of Mozilla Firefox 4.0 on Windows Vista, I received an error message saying that I need administrative privileges to install. Are administrative privileges necessary to install Mozilla Firefox 4.0 on Windows Vista?

The happens when I attemp to install Mozilla Firefox 4.0 on a classified network. Initially when I try to install Firefox 4.0, a screen comes up saying that I need administrative privileges to install. Then when I cancel my logon username/password administrative screen, the installation process lets me continue and I can install the Firefox 4.0 software. I would like to know if Firefox 4.0 might encounter problems later on a classified network if Im able to install the software initially.

hello, when this is happening after you've already updated firefox with your admin account, try to delete the ''updates'' folder and ''active-update.xml & updates.xml'' within the %localappdata% folder of your restricted account like it is described in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Software_Update#Software_Update_not_working_properly

  • Adobe Flash Player 12.0.0.77 not playing in Mozilla Firefox 27.0.1

I am using Windows XP.  I downloaded Adobe Flash Player 12.0.0.7 and installed it on my computer.  I opened Mozilla Firefox 27.0.1 and went to youtube to watch videos.  I clicked on a video to watch and received the following information:
The Adobe Flash Player is required for video playback.
    Get the latest Flash Player.
I opened Control Panel on my computer and saw that Adobe Flash Player is indeed installed.  So why is Firefox not recognizing it?

I opened Firefox, clicked on "Tools", clicked "Add-ons", and noticed there is a "Shockwave Flash 12.0.0.77" listed.  Is that the adobe flash player?
    Yes, it is.
It is set on "never activate" - because when I have it on, I get a computer page stall from time to time, and a little window pops up saying, "Warning:  Unresponsive script, A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding.  You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete."
See: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/warning-unresponsive-script for a few suggested solutions.
BTW, "script" errors are not the same as Unresponsive plug-in errors.
The former are caused by javascript, ASP script or PHP scripts (in the page code) malfunctioning or "locking up".
The latter are caused by a defective plug-in (like Flash Player).

It seems to work in my system. However, to get a reasonable answer you should ask in the Flash forum and not this one.

  • How do I add an web site icon on to my desktop directly from Mozilla Firefox as I did with Internet Explorer 8 by right click my mouse and send to desktop?

How do I add a website icon to my desktop from Mozilla Firefox?

    >If they could actually save the filled in document that would be just as good because they could attach it to an e-mail
In Acrobat Pro, open the form and go to the Advanced menu and choose enable usage rights for Reader users.
Now, they will be able to fill out the form and save it to send it back to you in an email.
Be aware that there is a 500 use per form limit so this isn't a good answer for high volume use forms.
