No signal dvi

Hello all, could anyone help with this problem please?

A couple of days ago upon switching on my h8 1070uk pc there was no signal going to the monitor (connected dvi with no adapter from graphics card), after the 3rd attempt in powering off and on, eventually all was fine.

Today after switching the pc on the no signal message appears again but after several power off/on attempts I get nothing.

(Things I have tried so far) a spare monitor with dvi, vga connection on both monitors. Reseating graphics card, ram sticks, The fan is still turning on the graphics card and also I can hear the start-up screen load up through my separate speakers so I can assume from this that the pc is loading up ok but for some reason I now have no signal going to a monitor. Oh and no beeps are heard.

Many thanks in advance.

I understand that you are not able to power on your desktop computer, and I would be happy to guide you towards a resolution!
Since the monitor is indicating that there is no signal, I recommend following this document on Flat Panel Monitor Displays Message about No Signal, Signal out of Range, Sleep, or Power Save. This should help re-establish the display on your monitor from your computer.

• Second monitor nor being detected through dvi-d port

Hi I have a Hp s5610y slimline. Windows 7 64 bit . It is a newer system with 3 ghz ram and over 600 g.b ram so I know it is not a performance issue, (system handling the duty) I am trying to hook up dual monitors, the product specs page on H.P states that the Vga and Dvi -d ports can both be used at the same time. I have the dvi-d converter to vga hooked up to a monitor through the Vga port on one computer ( that is not working). The port from Vga to vga works fine( the first monitor. I already check the easy stuf like "enabling dual monitor", unplugging the monitor, updating the lastest driver for radeon 3000 and restarting windows. I hooked up two monitors before with no problems. Any ideas out there?
Thanks,
Manny

>I have the dvi-d converter to vga ....
This will never work!
vga is an analog signal, dvi-d is digital.
Only dvi-a or dvi-i can convert to analog vga.
Check the diferencies here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital%E2%80%93visual_interface#Connector
Either graphics card or monitor can't recognize each other.

• Monitor "no input signal"

When I turn on the computer and the monitor, the monitor does not recognize a signal from the computer. I have tried restarting the monitor and the computer, unplugging all cables including the power cables and reconnecting, I re-seated the graphics card, I tried using the VGA cable, but the monitor still seemed to be trying to recognize a DVI connection, even though the VGA cable was plugged in. Right after I turn on the monitor it says:
VGA input, no input signal
> DVI input, no input signal
recommended setting, 1680x1050
After about 2 seconds it goes to sleep and that is it. No mouse clicks or keyboard strikes bring the monitor back. I know of no way to change any settings, reinstall drivers, etc. , because I cannot get the monitor to work, so I am effectively blind, whenever I want to test something out I have to manually shut down the computer and turn it on again. I encountered this problem in the past, and after much frustration and unplugging/re-connecting, the problem seemed to magically solve itself, but now it is back and nothing seems to work. The frustrating part is that it seems random, this started happening a few days ago when I tried turning on my computer.
the computer is a HP Pavillion d4996t, the monitor is HP w2207

Going to the control panel and turning off the monitor's power saving mode utility fixed this problem for me. Only four years of putting up with "no input" on an ugly black and white screen before I figured that out!

• DVI to Analog Component RGB?

I'm trying to connect up my mac book pro dvi out to an older
standard definition television that has component RGB inputs.
I already had the DVI to SVGA adapter that came with the mac book pro. I then purchased an SVGA to red, green and blue RCA connector cable, which I hooked up between the TV and the DVI to SVGA adapter.
I'm not getting a signal on the tv's component input, just some sort of noise.
Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong and what I might need...hopefully short of a $300 convertor box of some sort?
Thanks.

hi, new to the board, but i've been trying to do basically the same thing for quite a while. in my case, i want to connect the dvi-i & 3.5mm stereo outputs on a Mini to an A/V receiver.
i've tried using the supplied dvi-vga adapter and connecting w/ a vga-component adapter cable. i got no video signal. dvi-hdmi works for video, but then i have nowhere to plug in the audio signal.
it's been suggested that instead of a simple adapter, some sort of box is needed to convert the computer's RGB signal into YPbPr. any brand or model suggestions in particular? i don't know where to start looking for such a thing. thanks.

• No Signal after installing new graphics card

Hello and thanks in advance for your help!
We have a 2yr old HP p6540y. It has an ATI integrated Video Card. When we recently turned it on, we got a 'no signal' message on the monitor and then it would go to sleep. We have tried several things to fix...listed below, in order, and are still getting the same message. Please advise!
1) No Signal: DVI, VGA, HDMI. So we unplugged and restarted, no change.
2) Checked monitor and DVI & VGA cords with another computer: They all work.
3) Installed new Graphics Card: NVIDIA GEForce GT 610. Still got same 'no signal' message.
4) We plugged/unplugged all other cards/cords/anything we could and cleaned out. Then, finally, the monitor turned on! But not for long....
5) After restarting computer after installation of graphics card driver, we got the 'no signal' message again. We once again, pulled out other cards/plugs and again the monitor/computer came to life.
6) We unistalled the integrated ATI graphic card. When we go to Display, Advanced Options, it lists our new NVIDIA as graphic/display card.
7) We turned computer off overnight and this morning when we turned on, we once agin got the 'no signal' message. We unplugged/plugged computer in several times. Also tried the trick with pulling out cards/plugs and we got nothing. No Signal. After doing this several times (about 10), it finally worked again.
8) We changed sleep settings to: Screensaver=Never; Sleep Mode=Never.
9) We restarted again to once again get no signal message.
So...what do we need to do?
Thanks so much!

Triusa, welcome to the forum.
I suspect that your problem is caused by the power supply unit (PSU). Here is a guide to help you troubleshoot the problem:

Also, the existing PSU is 250W. The GT 610 requires a minimum of 300W.

• How do I use my 26" Polaroid FLM-2601 Television as a montor for my mac mini?

How do I use my 26" Polaroid FLM-2601 Television as a montor for my mac mini? I keep getting "no signal" for every resolution and refresh rate I've tried both for VGA and DVI settings (listed in the back of the manual for the polaroid tv and a few people posted online).
I plug the VGA cable into my old monitor, changing the settings and move the VGA input cable to the TV, (direct to VGA in or thru a VGA to DVI adaptor) and so far thru either input I only get a black screen with "No Signal - VGA Input" or "No Signal - DVI Input" displayed, so then I go back to the old monitor, try another resolution/refresh rate and try the TV again. This can't be the best way to do this - plus I'm out of resolution options.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Go to System Preferences>Displays. Change the settings to your desire.

• Running a tv as a second monitor

Hello all,
Just a quick question, I've just bought a dual 2.7Ghz G5 with the standard graphics card (everymac says its the Radeon 9650) and was just wondering if I could hook a HD TV to it to act as a second monitor.
Its a little decadent I know, but it would be nice. I haven't yet bought the TV, I'm in the process of upgrading everything and thats coming last.
Is there anything in particular I should look for - other than a dvi port etc. - or is this flat out impossible? Thanks in advance
Dije

And you do need to run audio separately, if you want the sound to come out of the HDTV's speakers. Although HDMI carries the audio signal, DVI does not. The HDTV will probably have a pair of RCA (red/white) connectors for audio in. Just get a mini-stereo jack to RCA adapter, and run it parallel to the HDMI cable.
I've done it, and it works quite well (converting from DVI to HDMI).

• HP w2207 no display

I have an HP w2207 flat-screen monitor attached to a Pavilion Media Center PC m8147c. The monitor won't display info from the processor. We've had this problem intermittently since we've had the computer, but we'd reboot or let it sit overnight and it would be OK. Now it won't work at all. If you turn the monitor off and back on, it shows a box that says "Monitor Status; VGA Input-No input signal; DVI Input-No input signal; Recommended Settings 1680x1050-60 Hz." After that, a box appears at mid screen that says "Monitor Going to Sleep." Then it all fades away. Nothing appears unless I turn it off and back on again. If I disconnect the cable from the processor, it has a message that indicates it isn't receiving a signal and to check the connection. I can't update the drivers or even dowload the original disk because I can't see what the computer is doing. I hear the experts are out there today! Can you help?

Hi,
Try to perform a hard reset on both you pc and your monitor.
Performing a hard reset on pc.
1. Disconnect the power cord from behind the tower.
2. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds.
3. Plug the power cord back into pc.
Performing a hard reset on monitor.
1. Disconnect the power cord from the monitor.
2. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds.
3. Plug the power cord back into pc.
Also check the video cord to make sure that it is firmly attached.
If this doesn't work, try connecting an external monitor to see if it will display, or try another video cable if possible.

• Running without a monitor

I have an 18 month old Pavillion desktop which I now want to use just as a printer / scanner server, but when I boot it without a monitor attached, it defaults to VGA mode and refuses to let me increase the resolution (I am connecting to it using TeamViewer which I use often and I know is not causing the issue).
I thought it might be possible to use a dummy plug to fool the video card into thinking that there is a monitor attached, but apparently that will not work because the AMD Radeon HD 6530D video card only outputs a digital signal (DVI-D plugs only) so there are no analog outputs to fool with resistors (i.e. dummy plug).
Is there ANY way to force this @!#$% card to allow full resolution without a monitor physically connected?

Hello,
Do you have the latest driver version installed?
I will check if there is anyhting else that you can do or try to get that one.
Thanks,

• Why do my monitor stay in sleep mold?

Monitor Status shows: I havea HP 2009 m monitor and Pavilion Slimline s5220f pc, when I turn on my monitor it keeps on say DVI: no signal, VGA:no signal, Auto-switch Sourcen,DefaultSource: DVI-DIGITAL and the monitors reads, monitor going to sleep. Can somebody please help me with this problem?

monitor is going to sleep because it doesn't see any signal:
>DVI: no signal, VGA:no signal
How is pc and monitor connected?
All connectors attached properly?
Which cable/adapter/port (colours)?
From the specs it should be vga:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01859893&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=4006369
The pc only have a blue port, so you should connect it to the blue port of the monitor:

Monitor HP w2448hc needs a driver to be used with my Macbook Pro, but HP only offers download to Microsoftprograms,... My screen behave unstable, waves, and I need to do something. Waht do I do?

Monitor HP w2448hc needs a driver to be used with my Macbook Pro...
Highly doubtful (see next response.)
...but HP only offers download to Microsoftprograms,...
The software is likely for the built-in webcam. The monitor/screen portion of the w244hc would NOT need drivers unless it had some funky non-standard amount of pixels. But the monitor is a standard 1920x1200 which the Mac should detect if you're using the HDMI or DVI connector.
...My screen behave unstable, waves, and I need to do something. Waht do I do?
Are you using the VGA connector? VGA, being an analog signal is more likely to cause the symptoms you describe (compared to the digital signals DVI or HDMI.) Often reseating the VGA connector can help. (IOW, push the VGA connector in harder...on BOTH ends of the cable.) But VGA would also be more susceptable to signal degradation with anything greater than 1600 pixels. So if you are using the VGA connector, get the appropriate DVI adapter for your Macbook Pro as soon as you can.

• Can MSI Radeon 7850 twin frozr III be used on MCP73M01H1 (Napa) ?

Hi guys,
I just bought new graphic card (msi radeon hd 7850 twin frozr 2gb) and seasonic 650W power supply today.
And when I put them together with other hardwares and turn on the power, the monitor doesn't not detect any signal (dvi).
so I switched the dvi cable to the on-board graphic card then the monitor can display but the device manager only detects ob board graphic card.
then I put back gt 130 and it works perfectly as before.
then I tried putting 7850 back then same issue (monitor doesn't detect anything)
I can see the fans are running on 7850. My friend tested it with his computer and it's working fine...
Help pls?
My current specs are :
Monitor: HP 2309m (1920x1080)
Motherboard: MCP73M01H1 (Napa)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 2.66 GHz
Memory: 4 GB PC2-6400
Graphic card: msi radeon 7850 twin frozr III oc 2gb (previous one: GT 130 768MB)
PSU: seasonic 650W (previous one: 350W)

Yea. I've posted on their forum as well. But I was hoping the graphic card manufacturer will have info about the list of motherboards that support Radeon 7850 ??

• No video signal using mini dvi to vga adapter.

I just bought a macmini, the last generation. Separately I bought on the apple store a mini dvi to vga adapter because when I bought the macmini I forgot to buy that....once the adapter arrived I tried to turno on the mini, everything seems to be normal, the mini works, the audio signal is normal and after the startup it asks me to choose the language, but the screen says there's no INPUT SIGNAL. I tried another mini dvi to vga adapter, the vga wire works with my pc so I didn't try another one,I tried the reset of the mini,nothing....do I have to try with "miniport to vga" adapter or is there something else I can try?

I got my Mac Mini yesterday and I am having the exact same problem as you are having.
I've tried on two different TV's but it is just not sending a signal. Is it faulty?

Hi there!
I have a big problem with my video projector. It´s connected via mini DVI to VGA adapter to

To resize the solution on both, or one of them doesn´t help.
When I use my Bootcamp and reboot with Windows XP there is a picture on the video projector.
I cant believe this.
What should I do to fix this problem?

• Mini DVI to VGA cable doesn't send signal to the projector

I just received a mini DVI to VGA adapter cable today.
I connect mini DVI side of cable into my Macbook v. 4.1 and connect the other side into DGA cable, which connected to LCD projector.
When I connect the cable to my Macbook, the opened application streched out to a full screen (seems like computer detets the cable) but projector says 'no signal'.
Can any one tell me what is wrong it is?
Thanks much
Mike

I'm still stucked.
By reading some articles, it says even using mini DVI adapter, the signal is still digital and if the projector doesn't accept digital signal then it's no use....
My projector is Epson EX3200 and it doesn't have any DVI or HDMI input.
Does this mean my projector doesn't accept a digital signal?
But, but, but if even uing mini DVI adapter cable it still doesn't conver to analog signal then why they call the cable a mini DVI to VGA cable???
Why should this world be so complecated.....
