No signal from built-in input and MIDI crashing
Been trying to use GB to work out some rough ideas for a track. Idea was to drag and drop the stereo track into GB and then just plug the guitar straight into the computer using the 1/8" input. When I do that, no signal is getting to GB.
I've checked the "Sound" setting under "System Preferences," tried adjusting the "preferences" within GB, and also tried adding a "new basic track" and selecting "built in input." In all cases no signal input is coming to the meters within GB.
The other thing that's going on, and I think might be at the root of the problem, is before updating to 10.6, I had a Digi-02 at my disposal and had Pro Tools LE on the computer. The version I had was not compatible with 10.6 so removed it, but I think some traces are still in the computer as every time I open GB I get a "CoreMIDI.framework" message and the audio/midi crashes. Reading the details box I'm getting the following:
"Process: MIDIServer [27096]

I've tried doing a search for any files with "digi" or "ProTools" in the name to delete, but I'm getting no culprits. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Spotlight doesn's search Library folders, maybe that's why you don't find anything. Take a look at these two folders and remove anything that you don't need (i.e. remove anything that you don't know - in a basic setup, there should be nothing in there):

Why does my sony tv pick up my apple tv but my new LG has no signal from the HDMI input?
Hi midknightsurfer,
Welcome to the Sony Community!
Please try the following troubleshooting steps.
Check for a firmware update for your router.
Make sure the router is broadcasting the Service Set Identifier < SSID >.
Please try other device/s. Connect them to your network (wired/wireless) then test those units.
If my post answers your question, please mark it as "Accept as Solution"

As stated in title. I want to access Netflix but my TV requires ethernet connection. I would like to use Express to repeat Exreme sigal and then to TV via Ethernet. I only have one access point in house for cable modem so I'm using Extreme to broadcast though house. Will need to be able to input network key for Extreme secure network. Thank you.
MikeAre both your AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express 802.11"n" devices?
If yes, you can configure the Express to "extend a wireless network" and it will provide more wireless coverage and the Etherent port will be enabled so that you can connect an Ethernet device.
This assumes that the Express is located where it can receive a strong signal from the AirPort Extreme. -
TS1574 no audio from built-in speakers and red light visible through the headphone port
My 15" late 2006 MBP has just stopped producing sound from the internal speakers and for the first time there is a red light visible inside the headpbone output port. Apple support says contact support but since I'm a long time out of even my extended warranty I wondered if anyone had a fix-it suggestion I might try myself?
Try to plug the headphone into and out of the headphone socket couple of times
to flip the microswitch in the socket.
Red light visible means sound output is stuck in digital mode.
Reset PRAM. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
Procedure is same for 10.6
Reset SMC.http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
If these steps do not help, repair Apple Store is needed. -
I just tried to import photos form my iPhone 4 to iPhoto...it seemed to get all the way to the end and then iPhoto wasn't responding in the
"finishing import" stage. I had already chosen (for the first time ever because I didn't trust it) to delete the photos from my phone. I seems to have imported some (though I can't find them) and deleted them from my iphone...so the import wasn't complete but there are photos missing from both my comp
and the phone. CAN ANYONE HELP ME FIND THEM? I restarted my computer and then launched iPhoto holding down command and option buttons and chose to "rebuild library from automatic backup". I still can't find them.
help?hi rosanne,
may i know where to find the modified folder? i have the same problem, unbelievable!
Thanks! -
I am working on a wireless vital sign monitor. I have 3 signals; heart rate and temperature. I filter and amplify the signals before converting them into digital form. I then pass them via MAX232 before passing them to RS232 serial cable.
I am therefore working on a program to receive the combined signal and separate them.
I have come across serial read and write examples on ni.com but am looking for one where I can actually separate combined signals and display them separately.Reading the serial port will give you a string. How you divide the channels depends on how the data was formatted before it was sent over the serial channel.
If you are designing the instrument, as it seems from your query, then you can set up any form you wish. If your data is always floating point numeric, you could use space or tab characters to separate data words. You could use and XML format. If the instrument is provided by a vendor, contact them for the protocol.
If tabs are used between words and returns between sets of readings, the resutlant string can be interpretted by the Spreadsheet String to Array function in LV.
Things to avoid are characters often used by serial communications systems as control characters. Carraige returns are
often used as command terminators by serial protocols, but may also be used by the port.

How do I get signal from Digital Optical input (Extigy) to the Creative PlayCent
How can I rip MP3's from the Digital Optical input on the Extigy? The PlayCenter does not seem to have any interest in the Extigy/USB as an input source. Thank you for your help!!?
Since you are talking about variables, I suppose that you are using CP4, right?
There is a fine tutorial in de CP4-help, chapter 'Variables and advanced actions', 'Tutorial on scripting' which explains more elaborately what I will try here:
Create a user variable, p.e. named 'vName' (Project, Actions, sheet Variables)
Ask the user to enter his name in a Text Entry Box; in the properties of this TEB, sheet Advanced you indicate that this name should be put in your variable 'vName'
Wherever you want to show this name, create a Text Caption and insert your variable by the button 'Insert variable'; this button is present in the properties window and also in the formatting toolbar if you are editing in place (look for X and and arrow); the variable in the text caption will show as '$$vName$$' and in the published SWF you will see the username.
Hope this could help you, but please check the tutorial.

Recieve signals from WLAN NIC, decode and produce video signal from VGA or Composite Video out
i am trying to broadcast some MPEG4 video messages over a WLAN and display them on TVs and LCDs. i need to develope an interface between the wireless NIC and the display modoule. this interface has to be able to collect the information, decode the information to reproduce a video signal on a VGA socket or a normal TV composite video socket. does anyone has any ideas how i can achieve this?? please help me!! thank you!
Hi,
Assuming that you are trying to use LabVIEW to achieve this, I believe that it will be simplest if your wireless NIC exposes an ActiveX interface that LabVIEW can use.

Cant boot from snow leopard dvd and install crashes computer
Folks, hi, newbie to this forum but at wits end.
I have a MacBook Pro 17inch mid 2010 model. I added the OMG disk doubler and ditched the internal dvd, so I now have 2 X 500GB hard drives, one of which has the OSX. This disk in trouble and Disk Utility says that it needs repairing, but i need to repair after booting from an different disk.
So, I added a usb dvd drive and put in snow leopard. It would not boot via holding down 'c' and the option key only saw the current drive. No problems I thought, I will install onto the second hard drive and boot from that. The process got a fair way though (20 mins) and the computer crashed. I checked that it is GUID, tried again, and ditto. So, I made a new partition that was nice and clean -- and ditto. Stuck about now, I tried to format a usb hard drive -- ditto. Hmm, didnt want to, but out came the second drive and in went the old dvd drive -- same issue -- could not boot using c button and the option key did not recognise the snow leopard install. Out came the drive and I went to the apple store -- they told me that the Snow Leopard I had brought was an upgrade and that I needed a Box Set. $169 later and - you guessed it -- the dvd is the same, no start on c, not recognised on option, and the computer crashes if I try and install to the second hard drive or an external drive.
Help anyone??when i go to system prefs- startup, the dvd does not show up in the list of startup drives. The apple salesman said that the OSX install disk I purchased was not a start up disk / full install but rather an upgrade only disk. That is why he said to use the box set as a 'full install' - but both appear to not start up or be able to do a clean install. I just end up with a set of files call Mac OSX install files.

Hi everybody !!
This is my first post here so I really hope you can help me.
I have a G4 Dual 1.25 with an Canopus ADVC -110 and every time that I want to import from the Beta SP (the input switch from the Canopus is in analog) the software show that the camera it's connected via firewire but I don't see any video input although I can see video output from Canopus in my reference monitors, and, if I switch to the edit tool or any other tablets or features the software crashes!!! I tried deleting the preferences, repairing disk and permission, reinstalled ILife again and nothing!
Then I reinstalled the system software and it worked fine but a few days ago I was converting a QT movie to a DV format so I can use it in Logic & ProTools and since then I'm having the same problem again.I deleted pref, repair disk and permisions but still the same!! I really need some help because this one of my main tools in my recording studio so I can do my msx scoring.
Thanks!!!
G4 Dual 1.25 Mac OS X (10.3.9) 1.25 RAM, Canopus ADVC-110I tries that but still!!
What I did I moved all the preferences to a new folder in my desktop and open iMovie and it worked fine so, I started to move them back individualy or in pairs anduntil i found the one wich was giving me ****!!it was a folder names by host after that the software still working just fine. Synchronization of analogue input and analogue output?
Hi there,
I have a signal synchronization problem:
I am sending two waveforms (i.e choice between sinus square triangle etc see attached VI) to a mechanical system and then I'm reading the acquired signal from this same system (and it should be similar).
The signal I am reading is indeed similar, however, the synchronization is not perfect. Whenever I changes the frequency of the signal the phase of the aquired signal is shiffting...
Does anyone have an idea how I should synchronize both send and aqcuired signal?
Many thanks,
Best,
Renaud
PS: I attached the VI in question

Galvo_Monitor_3.vi 43 KBHi,
As you stated, there is mechanical system inbetween, it is obvious to have delay in response. If you try the same code by direct wiring Analog Input and Output, you will observe no delay in them.

MainStage 2: Separate outputs for vocals and MIDI synths?
I'm using a firewire interface with 8 outputs, 8 inputs, and midi input. Can I run vocals through the audio inputs, through MainStage, then send the vocal signal to a different output (for going to a PA) than the MIDI audio signals (for going to my amp)?
Hi
Yep
Simply rout ethe appropriate channels out through the correct output pairs on your audio interface

What hardware do I need to monitor the signal from an incremental encoder?
We are trying to implement a feeding
solution for one of our cutting machines and I’m not quite sure how to proceed.
I have attached a document from the NI website that outlines exactly what we are
trying to do but does not go into detail on any of the concepts like programming
and implementation.
1.) We have a NI DAQPad-6015
connected to a SC-2345 which has one SCC-CTR01 module installed. Which this
configuration can we read the incremental encoder signal and use to setup our
cutting machine as outlined in the attached document? If not what is the
minimum amount of hardware we need to sample the signal from the incremental
encoder and obtain both the direction and magnitude of the
movement?
2.) If we wanted to use the
information obtained from the encoder and subsequently send a signal to a
stepper motor controller or perhaps a PLC what additional hardware would be
needed.
Thanks,
Chris

Incremental Encoder Example.pdf 94 KBHi Chris,
For quadrature encoder measurements your
hardware is not the ideal equipment. The 6015 doesn't provide X4
decoding. That means, that the board counts only one raising edge of
one phase. Still, if you connect phase A and B to the counter inputs,
it will count up and down, depending on the direction of the axis, but
as already mentioned, you will loose 75% of the available resolution. Here is some more information about this topic.
The document that you are referring to recommends a PCI-6624
and this is in fact a much better option. This board provides X4
decoding and isolated inputs not only for phase A and B but also for
the Z-index (not available for the 6015).
If you need a USB-solution and if you can work with TTL voltages, you might have a look at the USB-6218, that provides isolated I/Os.
For motion control there are various options. E. g. you could use an NI motion control device like the PCI-7332,
but there are also options to communicate with external motion
controllers through CANopen, RS232 or various fieldbusses. Depending on
the solution that you choose, you may need a bus interface that
provides support for your programming software.
I hope that helps,
