No signal in Taunton Somerset TA2. Can't select EE on Network Selections.

There is absolutely no EE signal on my Note 2 in Taunton TA2 today. I've tried searching for the network operator but not offered EE. Is this a service issue?

It's not a question of the SIM, it's a question of operator branding and features that have been deactivated in that branded firmware.
Three do the same thing to their branded phones here in the UK. They don't have a setting to switch the phone to "GSM only", only "Dual mode" and "UMTS only".
This is because Three own their own 3G network but no GSM network. For GSM calls, they have agreements with Orange UK, whose GSM network Three customers can use, but obviously have to pay roaming charges. In order to minimize those roaming charges, Three handsets do not give you the possibility of using GSM exclusively, you have ti use 3G wherever possible.
The OP's provider may have a similar setup, which would explain why the ability to switch to "GSM only" has been removed by the operator.

  • I have a 2nd gen airport extreme (no time capsule) and 2nd gen airport expresses:  is there any new additons I can make to my existing network to improve reach and integrity of signal?

I have the older airport extreme and 2 2nd gen airport expresses in a large house.  Lately I have been getting complaints about internet  "drop out" and weak signal (orange signal - weak network)  in one (oddly enough the nearest one to my extreme).  What can I do to insure network and internet integrity going forward. Do I buy a new a. extreme and convert the old one (how is also a question)?  Do I buy new expresses?  (and why) Do I move the original express out of room and get longer internet cable?  Extreme is upstairs in a split level and must remain there because of proximity to modem and its connection to security. The "working" express is all the way on the other side of the house through 2 concrete walls and does ok - though signal is understandable week. The nearer one with the "problems" is at the foot of the stairs less than 50 feet away, behind an always closed door  (not tested-belongs to teenager voicing complaints).  Incidentally the other bedroom directly across from the closed door one, houses a temporary adult child at home who has no problems with their lap top (2nd gen macbook) and signal.

There is no easy answer to your question, but here are some things to think about.
The newest generation of airport extremes and expresses are dual-band devices. they transmit on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies. the 2.4 GHz frequency penetrates walls better than the 5 GHz frequency which is faster in terms of data throughput. they also have improved antennas which may help your signal problems. unfortunately the only way to be sure would be trial and error you can also walk around with a laptop and monitor the signal strength to see where you have dropouts and consider repositioning your express devices to compensate .

My iPhone 3GS have little signal of wifi. What can I do??

    Hi jazznola9,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
There are several steps you can take when troubleshooting Wi-Fi connectivity on an iPhone and it sounds like you have already done a few of them already. In your situation I would recommend reading over and working through the steps listed in the attached article.

How many airport express can I add to my network for the purpose of using the airport express to send audio signal to different rooms in the house? I'm interested I'm running about six different zones.
What I'm looking to do is to have self powered in ceiling speakers in every room in my house with out having to run wires to every room to carry the audio signal. I would like to use the airport express to do the job of carting the audio signal.
Here's my set up now I have an airport extreme and one airport express that I use to carry audio to one room.

FWIW. I have used up to four AirPort Express Base Stations (AX) for streaming sucessfully in pretty much the way you have described. I didn't have a need to try more so I can't attest that more would or would not work.

  • I am trying to extend my airport extreme signal to another airport extreme can this be done? I have tried several time using the automated set up but it keeps failing... What am I doing wrong?

I am trying to extend my airport extreme signal to another airport extreme can this be done? I have tried several time using the automated set up but it keeps failing... I have selected every possible security/password encryption level... What am I doing wrong? If it os possible where can I find step by step instructions? Please & Thank you!

The challenge with the older round AirPort Extremes are that they are "g" wireless devices.
When you configure them for WDS, the speed on the wireless network is cut in half...and probably will not have the bandwidth required to stream video reliably from either AirPort Extreme since both are affected by the WDS setup.
There is not an "automated" setup for WDS. You have to do this manually on both AirPort Extremes. Unfortunately, it is not an easy configuration and it's easy to make a mistake and hard to recover without starting all over again.
Apple's instructions for WDS are here if you want to give it a try.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4262
It is possible that it might work. Keep us posted on your progress
Adding a single AirPort Express will unfortunately not help. You have to have "n" wireless devices at all router points.

My iphone 3gs Wi-fi can't pick up any network, even signal is high. Please help. Thx!

I don't know if it was jailbroken, I bought it new, we don't have an Apple Shop here in Algeria to buy iPhones nor any other Apple's product. All products are not officially open for Algeria, Now, I think that it was jealbroken, I realized that now, I think it's not my fault to buy a jealbroken product -without knowing that- it's Apple's fault! why they don't open an Apple shop everywhere in the world like its rivals DID?!
I hope it'll not be broken permanently.

  • Can't connect to wireless network but connects if I move it 1 meter

    Hi all,
I've had my 27" iMac Intel Core 2 Duo for over 3 months now with no issues, but suddenly over the weekend I can no longer connect to my network.
Sometimes I can see my network listed (but the signal is now very weak when it used to be very strong) and when I try to connect I get a "Connection Timeout" error. Othertimes I can't even see my network.
If I move my whole mac about 1 meter "closer" to the router (it sits downstairs, my mac upstairs) it connects fine. But as soon as I put it back on my desk, where it has been sitting for the past 3 months, the connection drops out or it can't find the network. (I can't leave it "closer" to the router, as that would mean I'm sitting on the floor right in my room doorway...)
All other PC's, laptops, my MacBook and iPhone all connect fine. In the MacBooks case, it connects fine in exactly the same spot as where my mac had been sitting for the past 3 months.
I'm using a Belkin N150 wireless router which is supposed to have a range of 300m (my house is definitely not that big!) and using a WPA2 Personal password security setting. As I said above, no issue before this past weekend (same router, same settings).
    I have tried the following:
    - restarting router, modem, computer (in various orders) to no avail
    - deleting the system configuration folder, re-starting, etc.
Just wondering if there's something I'm missing? Or whether or not it's to do with the wider issue of connecting that people seem to have? I thought it may be different since I can connect if it sits somewhere else...
Any help wold be appreciated since my support has run out!
    Thanks in advance!

Yeah I've tried moving it but unfortunately I'm a bit constrained as to how far I can move it (aprox 20cms each way). There are lots of ethernet cables plugged in and they all run behind what is, a very solid, very big desk/shelving thing.
However, the position of the router hasn't changed in the past 3 months.
I've also tried disconnecting the cordless phone which sits in the same room and moving any extra cables around the router to no avail. But none of these things are new either.

  • G50-80 can't find my wireless network at all?

My brand new G50-80 can't find my home network at all. And no, the SSID isn't set to hidden. I've spent the whole night troubleshooting, and tried all of the suggestions on the intel website for the AC 3160. The router is D-link DIR-635. It is capable of 802.11n, g and b on the 2.4 ghz band.It is set to broadcast on g, b and n. I have tried setting it to n only but that didn't help. Using "WifInfoView" free software I can see lots of networks, on 2.4 and 5 ghz both, but not my home network. You'd think that it's the router that is the problem, but I have many devices connected to my router already, including an very old laptop, several phones, and a brand new tablet. I have never had such problems before. Seeing how many people have trouble with the connectivity of this card it's frustrating that Lenovo doesn't offer a free support phone number (in my country).  Unlike other people I wish a slow signal was the only problem, as I can't see the network at all. I have tried turning off password.I have tried the latest drivers from both intel and lenovo.I have tried turning off bluetooth in device manager.I have tried turning off power saving features. The router is discontinued but has the latest firmware. And as mentioned, other devices can connect to it. Is there anything more I can try other than just returning this thing?

UPDATE!!! If I select "only 802.11g" on the router I can connect.
A bit strange. I'm open to any suggestions, but at least I can connect now.

  • Can not connect to wifi-network

I have a iphone 4 that I managed to lose in the toilet. it is relatively in good condition, but can not connect to wi-fi networks. seems as if it is unable to receive signals. is there anything I can do to fix it?
and I have no dial tone when I call. what can I do?

Apple has an out of warranty replacement program for phone's like yours, cost in the US is $199. That would be your best course of action.

  • Hello my iphone 3g can not connect to home network via wifi

Hello to all, with my iphone 3g can not connect to home network via wifi. This only happens if I apply protection to the network. Unprotected my Iphone connects fine. Obviously the password to write error-free. I can not figure out what depends on this factor, however, another iphone connects fine. Help me please.

I have a similar, but slightly different problem. My iphone 4 recgonizes my home wifi and shows it under Settings, but will not access it, no signal shown, just 3G.  It will access other wifi signals.  My wife's iphone works fine, as does an ipad and macbook.  This is new for my iphone, about 2-3 days.
Help!  I reset network settings and rebooted the router (Apple), no avail

  • HT4262 Can I extend a WiFi Network, using a 802.11n Airport Base Station with a 802.11g Airport Express?

Having a new Apple AirPort Extreme (802.11n) I need to extend the network since even the AirPort Extreme provides after about 30 Feet maximum only 50% signal strength in 2.4 GHz and maximum 41% signal strength in the 5 GHz band.
I have an Apple Airport Express (802.11g) but I am not sure that it can extend with it the network to get a better signal strength?
I know I can only use the Apple Airport Utility 5.6 to access the AirPort Express, but I can see also the AirPort Extreme though it (5.6).
Also, it seems that my "old" Wireless Motorola Cable Modem (SBG900) for the same distance (about 30 Feet), which is a 802.11g, gives still a better signal strength (62%) than the Apple Airport Extreme...
I guess I need the proper instructions how to, if it is possible.
    Any intelligent answers available? Thanks.

This is very confusing. The AirPort Express Base Station has three settings (under "Wireless" in the AirpPort Utility 5.6) "Create a wireless Network", "Participate in a WDS network" and "Join a wireless network".
Whereas the first is self-explanatory the second and third seem to indicate, that a relation with an existing Network can be created. This is also indicated, when selecting as the "Wireless Mode:" "Join a wireless network" and then selecting "Wireless Network Name:" where then all available networks 802.11 b/g/n pop up you can choose which to use.
Now, it does not make any sense, that if all these settings and selections are available, that the AirPort Express cannot extend an existing network, considering that the AirPort Extreme, which is a 802.11b/g/n can be connected to. Even the AirPort Utility 6.0 sees the AirPort Express 802.11b/g but when selected alerts that "This version of AirPort Utility doesn't support this base station. Use AirPort Utility 5.6 to configure or manage this base station. AirPort Utility 5.6 is available at AirPort Service and Support." And as said, that AirPort Utility 5.6 sees everything and has said setting options.
The way as I see this it is, that if I can pickup an existing network, created with an AirPort Extreme 802.11b/g/n with an AirPort Express 802.11b/g and have the option to "Join a wireless network" such AirPort Express should be able to broadcast the picked up and joint network. Otherwise the setting options for the AirPort Express are nothing else than a distortion of reality to me.
Also, before I got the new AirPort Extreme 802.11b/g/n I had an AirPort Extreme Base Station 802.11b/g (gray) and there I was able to extend the network via the AirPort Express 802.11b/g.
So the above comments do not make sense to me.
Hope you understand that and have a better explanation available.

  • Can't find *some* wireless networks

    Hi
Have seen vaguely similar posts but couldn't quite follow. I've used my G4 powerbook to connect to a whole range of wireless networks using Airport and have never had a problem. However I was trying to connect to a wireless network at my local pub and couldn't do it. Airport couldn't find it, when I manually entered all relevant info (including password), it still wouldn't connect. Other laptop users, including others with Apples, don't seem to have a problem and they can't get my laptop to co-operate either. It can still find other wireless networks elsewhere with no trouble. Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Have the other apple users connected to the "hotspot" in the past? If so, their mac's may "remember" the settings of the network.
The network hotspot, as a security measure, may not broadcast the SSID and you may need to enter it manually, provided the hotspot "posts" it or gives it to your when you make a purchase. (I've seen a number of hot spots either post it near the register of give it to you after making a purchase to prevent users just accessing it without being a consumer of their products)
The hotspot may also encrypt the network, which they will usually provide as well.
    I hope this helps!
P.S. There are several "Widgets" available for download that will identify if a network is available, but may not be broadcasting their SSID, this will help confirm that you are getting the signal, but just not the details in order to log in, one can be found here: http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/networking_security/airtrafficcontrol.h tml

  • TS1398 I can not find my wifi network on my ipad. My iphone conected fine.

I can not find my wifi network on my ipad, My iphone connects fine. I tryed restarting the ipad and router. Please help

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Why my bbz30 android app can't connect to mobile network

I recommended much more than merely a reboot...I cannot tell if you attempted exactly what I recommended or not. And I Do not see that you have contacted your provider...again, only they can look at their network to determine why it's not properly communicating with your device.
If you do nothing, nothing will change.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (step 1 should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRTKB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless networkPlease wait for one "registration" message to appear2) RebootHold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process.IF this fails, you can attempt the more forceful method of holding the up/down volume keys until the device fully shuts down. Wait a bit and then power up normally.See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you contact your mobile service provider and/or service center for formal support...only they can look at why their network is not properly communicating with your device, no one here has any such access to do such an investigation.
    Good luck!
