No signal on my Galaxy 4

Over the last few weeks, I've had no signal in my home on my Galaxy 4. Is this merely an issue in my house and if so how can I resolve it?

Were you simply told this over the phone, or have you seen it somewhere in writing? If you were simply told this by an operator or a salesperson I'd be sceptical until its confimed by a more reputable source. In my experince many mobile networks' and Digital Media Services'  salespersons/CS operators will tell you any old rubbish about forthcoming services they claim to be imminent.

  • Anyone exchange there Nexus for a Rezound due to data speeds?

I'm getting pretty horendous 3G and 4G speeds on my Nexus along with dropped calls. I know many of you are too, how many have got a Rezound in exchange? Anyone getting better speeds, less dropped calls, etc.
I'm thinking of returning my phone today? I really like the phone design, I love ICS but I just can' take the slows speeds and such, it's really starting to bother me. Verizon said there is a fix in the works but I heard that it won't improve the signal on the Nexus, it'll just fix the actual bars so they are more consistent with your actually connection?

I have roughly the same signal on my Galaxy Nexus that I had on my Droid X. My house has some old electrical wiring, causing signal interference with anything radio signal wise.
I do have dropped network connections, but that is about the same places in the house that my X had problems. I do live in a 4g 'extended area'. I do see 4g signals once in a while, but not consistan, which doesn't surprise me. I have not dropped any calls yet.
Overall, I think that the radio is OK on GN. I know that the bars in the notification bar are lower than the X, but the signal strength is the same. Bottom line, it works well enough. If I lose connection for more than a couple of minutes, I can swith to WiFi and problem solved

  • Galaxy Nexus Signal Problem

Ok, I've had dozens of Verizon Phones but something is going really wrong with the Galaxy Nexus that I own.  It started out as the best device that I have ever owned.  Then I had a problem with it non-related to the signal issues.  The tier two tech support had me do a software update on the phone and ever since, the 4G, 3G and phone signal truly struggle.  Calls are dropped.  Texts wont go through.  And internet is often inaccessible.  This is all intermittent and untraceable as far as a pattern goes.  So Verizon sent me a replacement device.  It was worse...to the point that it would not connect to anything reliably, including wifi.  They sent me another device and it was more of the same.  I am now out of town and having the problems continue with my original phone.  A third device is waiting at my house for what Verizon thinks will solve the problem.  I'm hoping it is the answer.
Who else is having these problems.  Tier Two tells me that this is not a common problem with this phone.  It's hard to believe because, I am 0-4 on this device.  Also, if you are having problems, did you start having problems in July/August when an update was possibly released?
    Let's hear from you!

I just bought a nexus fully aware of the signal problems but was assured by best buy that it is a sim card issue and they would repeatedly replace the sim card until it worked. I am running 4.0.4 the phone was updated before I bought it or came with the update as it was in an unopened box brand new. I have not had any issues other than I cant seem to get more than 2 bars of service in places where my old phone had full signal. so for those of you waiting for an update it may fix some issues but as far as I am concerned it does not fix the signal problem.  I bought 3 of these phones and all three have not gone over 2 bars in multiple locations.  no other issues though, phone is very fast and easy to operate and battery is what to be expected on this type of phone as far as I am concerned.

  • I have recently upgraded to a smart phone. Samsung Galaxy 3s. Why does it loose the signal when I am inside a building? It is suppose to be 4G!?

Whys does my Samsung Galaxy 3s loose reception inside a building? I can get updates from running apps but not so good on phone calls or texts.

Building materials will degrade radio signals and in many cases kill them altogether. It's called attenuation This is true with cell, AM/FM Radio, Tv signals. Signals aren't magic. Especially if a building is surrounded by metal and concrete. Especially metal. A building with a metal roof is a signal killer.
Also calls and texts do not use the 4G signals. They use 1x. Version's 4G uses a lower frequency than 1x thus it is better able to handle going through buildings.

  • My Galaxy S4 continues to crash, have no cell signal or internet signal since the last update. Can someone please help? I didn't have this problem until this last update and it is really aggravating!

Since this last update, something has happened to not only my phone, but to my daughters phone as well. We are constantly having to restart our phone and have no cell coverage or internet access in places we used to have no problems at all. This is very aggravating and I am ready to ditch the phone for something else! Please help!

I have a S3 and this is driving me crazy.  I have taken the battery out (left out for 2 hours in dark place inside original box, SIM card out, hard reset, soft reset, and anything else I could think of including going back to factory settings.
My phone will turn off in the middle of something I am doing.  No matter what it is.  I still get signal and am able to talk to people.  But I use my phone for work and it is starting to get annoying when you have to re-start the email you were typing because your phone turned off and a draft was not saved.
This is my replacement phone that I got back in March/April of this year.  I have an otter box for it and had no problems with the other phone until I dropped it (no otter box).
Not to mention my battery will say its like at 80% in the middle of taking a picture and then it wont turn on until I have connected to a charger because it wont turn on without it because from the time I wanted to take the picture to when I turn it on, I lost 75% of my battery.
Or if I get lucky and it will turn on, I have lost half of my battery charge no what percentage it is.
Please help me fix this as I need a working phone and it is not great having to carry a portable charger with me at all times.

  • Galaxy Nexus: No 4G signal After Update to Android 4.02

I purchased a Galaxy Nexus today, connected to 4G, downloaded ap's and used the phone on 4G for approximately an hour today with no issues. I was then altered to an update for Android 4.02.
After completing the update, I am no longer able to get 4G in most places. When I can get 4G, it is very weak.
For comparison, in the same spot, a Rezound will get 4 bars of 4G and the Galaxy Nexus will not connect to 4G (just 3G). I have confirmed this behavior on both of the Galaxy Nexus' purchased by our company.
Has anyone else seen this behavior with the 4.02 update? I have tried rebooting the phone as well as a hard reset, no luck. An hour on the phone with a Verizon 4G specialist with no luck.
    Help.

As others I am in the same boat. Picked up the Nexus after I got off work yesterday. Original downloads were quick as the phone was synching and installing my apps and gmail account. Once that was done the rep installed the extended battery and booted the phone and then from what I can tell, installed the update since while I was leaving the store (corporate store) it rebooted. I did not pay much attention as I was headed to another job. Got there and was on wifi and then wifi when I got home. Came to work today and was looking at my connection, which has been great before on my Bionic for both 3G and 4G and have a very weak 3g running at 117-120 dBm and no 4G at all. I will be going into town for a Dr's appt adn will see how it is there (still a stong 4G area). More than likely will be going back to the VZW corp store and see what they have to say.

  • Galaxy S3 with GPS signal working sparingly since update

Since the Kit Kat update, the GPS on my S3 works about 10% of the time.  Looking for some answers.  Thanks.

Read somewhere that Google Play App "Network Signal Refresher Lite" will help. Loaded and it seems to have boosted bar by 1 for me.
    Description
Refresh network signal in one click!!
IMPORTANT: NETWORK SIGNAL CANNOT BE BOOSTED, ONLY RECOVERED/REFRESHED.
THIS APP TRIES TO SET YOUR DEVICE WITH BEST POSSIBLE CONNECTION IN YOUR AREA BY REFRESHING THE SIGNAL CONNECTION. i.e. AFTER USING THIS APP, YOUR NETWORK SIGNAL CAN GET INCREASED IN STRENGTH (BY SETTING THE BEST NETWORK SIGNAL), OR STAY CONSTANT(IF THERE IS NO BETTER NETWORK SIGNAL).
[[Works perfectly for CDMA technology. GSM may not always work.]]

  • Galaxy s5 signal strength never full?

why is it that in new York city i cant get full signal bars ? literally i only get 3 bars maximum in all places that im at. does it have to do anything with it being gsm ?

Which Android version are you currently using?
My mother has a Note II, and she stated this morning that she received an update that took about 13 minutes to download yesterday. An update that took at long on broadband, I'm assuming was KitKat 4.4.2. She said that since the update, her "service has been worse". Granted, it's only been a day, but when a non-tech savvy 60 year old states that her phone updated, and she noticed a degradation of service, chances are, it's actually happened. (Not to mention, after checking her version, it is KitKat 4.4.2.)

  • Samsung Galaxy SIII Weak Data Signal

I upgraded from an HTC Thunderbolt that I used to be able to stream Pandora, iHeartRadio, etc. while sitting at my desk at work without any problems but with the new SIII I can't do any of that.  I also notice that switching form 3G to 4G (3G inside my office to 4G outside) is unbelieveably slow and can't take 10 minutes or more to switch to 4G.  On top of that, while I'm at home the wi-fi signal is atrocious.  Sitting next to my wife's Rezound showing the best wi-fi signal reception that it can get my SIII won't even show a wi-fi signal.  Most of the time I'll have to turn wi-fi off and on several times to get the phone to see the network.
I know Samsung phones have historically had signal reception problems, even as recently as the Nexus, but this is just ridiculous.  Hopefully it's just a software issue that can be fixed via OTA update but Verizon isn't exactly known for pushing out updates in a timely manner.
In the meantime I'm stuck with a *** phone that can't do half the things my old Thunderbolt used to be able to do.  Maybe I'll just sell the SIII on Ebay and buy and old Rezound (now getting ICS) or a Moto Razr Maxx.

The S2 I owned had perfect data connection, even in areas of poor coverage, and superb WiFi connectivity.  The S3 operates identically.  I'd suggest a factory reset to begin, and a replacement if that doesn't resolve the issue.  I don't think your experience is typical.

  • Galaxy s5 has poor signal receptions since updates

Since the recent updates, I have very limited cell service at home (zip code 35761) as well as in the town where I work (35801) and is constantly dropping  calls and freezing up. Is there anything that can be done to correct this issue? We dropped ATT due to lack of coverage, but now it seems that is not doing us  any good.

    Hi no1cntrygrl!
I realize the importance of having operable service and I'm here to help because I don't want you to regret your decision of joining the VZW family! Have you recently downloaded any new applications? When did you complete the update? Are you dropping all or isolated calls?

  • Samsung Galaxy Nexus Android 4.2 Update

When will Verizon approve the Android 4.2 update for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus?  The slowness of Verizon to approve updates is inexcusable!  And to that I'll say, "I'm done!"  I am so disgusted with Verizon and their inability to provide updates to what is supposed to be a "Nexus" device.  It's not like they have to manipulate around manufacturer software.  It's pure Google operating system.  Load and test the drivers for CDMA and LTE and then launch the update.  At the MOST that should take no more than 2 weeks!  Since I have had my Nexus on Verizon, I have not recieved a single update prior to 2 months!  Android 4.2 update from Android 4.1 is so miniscule and, might I add, required no additional new drivers, so what is the hold up Verizon?  Where is the Android 4.2 update?  And, yeah, I know some techy out there is going to say, " well why don't you just jailbreak and load it yourself?"  Because I shouldn't HAVE to jailbreak my phone.  It's not a matter of can I do it, it's why can't I do it without jailbreaking from Verizon?  They sold this phone initially by claiming it to be a "pure Nexus" device and it's been nothing of the kind ever since!  So I say, "I'm done!"  That means that when my contract is up, I'm return to AT&T!  They have upgraded the towers in the area that I live and my friends on AT&T say their signals are even better than Verizon's.  AT&T's new LTE towers download at faster speeds than Verizon's too.  I would have happily stayed with Verizon if they would have only taken the Pure Nexus experience seriously!
To those who have stated that I've said this for Jelly Bean 4.1, you are correct!  The only reason I'm still here is because of the hefty penalty Verizon will charge me for terminating my contract early.  My contract doesn't expire until December 2013 so it would be a rather hefty penalty to pay.  But Android 4.2 has confirmed that Verizon refuses to change their position on slow updates, so when my contract is up (as I believe I stated on 4.1), you won't see REDNIBKRAM on Verizon anymore!
It appears as though the Verizon "love freaks" just can't seem to get the message.  I'm not saying that the updates aren't difficult, I'm saying that if Verizon chooses to use CDMA technology over GSM and that requires them to jump through hoops to get updates completed, then they should have NEVER agreed to carry a "pure Nexus" device, or at the very least, should have NEVER advertised the device as such.  My whole point is that Verizon LIED TO ME and told me that my phone was a "pure Nexus" device when I purchased it and switched from a GSM phone company (AT&T) when, in fact, they knew that I would NOT be getting updates directly from Google as the GSM versions of the SGN do.  At the very least, if Verizon really wanted to make this right, they would offer to allow anyone with a SGN phone who was lied to when they purchased it to exit from their existing contract without penalty, so we can purchase a "TRUELY PURE NEXUS" phone direct from Google or provide us with a choice of another phone (Windows Phone, iPhone, etc.) without having to renew a 2 year contract.
All I'm saying is that if Verizon won't or can't update the phones they themselves advertised as a "pure Nexus" phone, then they should make it right to the people they lied to.

I didn't go back to AT&T for JB in August because the of VERY HEFTY penalty I will have to pay for cancelling my contract early and I got the Android 4.1 JB update.  Once I received the update and because the the penalty, I decided to give BIGRED another change at the next update.  I thought, "maybe it was such a huge update that they really needed to make sure everything was done right."  So, now here we are waiting for the 4.2.1 update and I'm still getting the same response from BIGRED as I got for JB 4.0 update.  It's quite clear that VZ DOESN'T CARE about customer satisfaction.  They use the excuse that they want their network to be the best and they want their phones to operate with little or no problems, yet when problems ARE discovered, it takes them months to send out the updates that Google has already released months prior.  I have discussed updates with Verizon, Google and Samsung support personnel.  I have even contacted Verizon Corporate and I fully understand the process by which updates are done, and believe me when I say that the update process at VZ is in serious need of restructuring.  Especially when it comes to Android devices.  But as far as this Android 4.2.1 update is concerned, I have spoken with Google and they have informed me that there was NO changes made to the operating system that would affect the CDMA or LTE drivers on the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus, so there should be no reason why Verizon would not want to release the update.  The small changes (additions) to the operating system would in no way affect the communications on VZ.  So why hasn't VZ released this update yet.  Corporate says they need to test the software to ensure it doesn't affect communications on their network, yet Google hasn't changed anything in the operating system that would, so what are they testing?  VZ may have the better network, but CARRIER EXPERIENCE ISN'T ALL ABOUT THE BEST CONNECTION.  It's about customer SATISFACTION and not receiving updates on a pure NEXUS device in a timely manner is inexcusable and in NO WAY SATISFYING!  So when my contract is up, I will be returning to AT&T or giving T-Mobile a try on a pure Nexus device with no contract!

  • 4G LTE service on a galaxy 10.1 tablet

I have a Galaxy tab 10.1 with 4G LTE.  When at work  I am in a Verizon 4G LTE Extended service area.  The problem, I am dropped from the network and cannot get a good signal(1 or 2 bars).  I have a galaxy 3 that connects via 3g with a full signal.  If it would help, is there anyway to switch to 3G on the Tablet?

I've been dealing with this same issue for four months now.  I live in a 3G only area.  After the ICS update, my tablet lost all 3G connectivity.  4G works fine.  I am now on my fourth tablet to "resolve the issue."  Of course, the fourth tablet isn't working under 3G. We've tried a new SIM card, and that didn't change anything either. I've also been connected through to Samsung service reps, and they can't resolve the issue.  It is always the same answer.  "Send in your tablet an we will check it for technical issues and send your repaired tablet or a refurbished tablet."  Rinse and repeat.  I am very tired of this issue. Since the tablet can't connect to the network, it's battery runs down fast.  The tablet in general performs poorly without the Verizon network connection. This device is worthless to me.  To make matters worse, I will have to spend ten dollars a month for the next sixteen months or so on a line and device that are not functioning.

  • My old Galaxy SII is outperforming my new iPod Touch 5!?!

I just got a new iPod Touch 5 Space Gray.
I'm testing it against my old Samsung Galaxy SII.
My old G SII is outperforming my new iPod 5 in a few areas and it's making me very disappointed.
My iPod 5 freezes on online video while my G SII doesn't.
My iPod 5 won't screen-flip while my G SII will.
A few other issues as well is making me wonder if I got a lemon or if the iPod 5 is just buggy.
    Not impressed thus far.

My GalaxySII is only running on wifi as I don't currently pay ATT for service.
I'm on a password protected but shared network at home with my MacBook Pro, iPOD5, and Galaxy SII all up and running on the same wifi signal.
I'm watching RT streaming news on livestation on all 3 devices and the iPod5 is the only one with poor resolution and freezing!!
The GalaxySII actually has a considerably larger screen than the iPod5.
There are so many things I love about the iPod5, but to have these things that I use all the time be glitchy straight away is making me blue.

  • No longer get a Signal. My zip code is 32421 in NW Florida

My zip code is 32421 in NW Florida, Just about the middle of the map, just below Interstate 10. I have been with Verizon since it took a portion of ALLTEL, was with Alltel since they took over another company and was with that company when they took over one. I have not personally changed providers in at least 15 years or more. My problem now is that my signal strength has become almost nonexistent where I have always been all these years. It seems like the fall of 2013 I had good signal but it started dropping. I finally change from a Motorola Maxx (I think it was) and now my wife has a Samsung Galaxy S3 and I have the S4. The other 2 phones on our contract (grandkids) both Apple 4's have the same problem. My son and his wife, who live next door and with Verizon also have the same problem and timeline. It is like a tower(s) have been out of commission for a while. My phone roams at times while in the house. If I have my phone set to announce when it loses the network or regains the network, it became to irritating to have to hear it. At one point we could almost use our cell phones exclusively at home. Now we are bound to landlines. I've never had any problem with Verizon but have become quite upset during the last 6 months to the point of trying something different when our contract expires. We are no longer getting the service we were getting with earlier contracts. Please help. Tell us what we can do or what Verizon is going to do to check this out.

The signal is ever so slightly higher outside as would be expected, but still not high enough, often enough to be depended on. In fact it is more prone to roam when stepping out of the house than inside. I have to drive several miles Northwest (approximately 7 miles) towards the intersection of Interstate 10 and SR 71 in the panhandle of Florida, just south of the town, Marianna. When heading east on SR 286 from SR69, through the Ochessee area to I-10 and then heading east for about 10 miles from the Apalachicola River are several dropout areas of low to no signal, but since we're moving it is for a very brief period of time. Getting back to my house though, the service that I had as late as last summer, both inside and out, has significantly declined.  Just based on my driving from my house, it seems that a tower North of me has dropped. You can find these roads on Google maps, in fact you can find them by zooming in on the Verizon Coverage map, find Tallahassee in North Florida and follow Interstate 10 to the west for about 50 miles. The problem seems to be from SR 286 to SR 69 then to SR71. Along a stretch about 17 miles south of Interstate 10 in between these 3 intersections is where the problem seem most prevalent.

  • N8 poor signal reception and other hardware issues...

    I have always been a Nokia fan . I started with Nokia 6600, then N70, then N82 and now a Nokia N8.
However, I am facing the worst experience with N8 reception issues.
The problems faced are as under :
    1) Poor Signal Reception Issues - Signal strength is weak and is constantly fluctuating compared to other Nokia Phones. At my workplace, if Nokia N82 displays 5 bars, N8 would display only 1 or 2 bars.
    2) Phone freezes many times. Whenever an Alarm is enabled, phone freezed much more.
    3) Purple Tint in the display. Nokia Service Centre says that its normal but according to me, they are just ignoring this issue.
    4) Vibration is weak : I often do not realize when the phone is vibrating in my pocket !!
Upcoming Symbian Anna will just improve the user interface but will not be able to solve these hardware issues.
If Nokia plans a hardware update facility for N8 users wherein they can fix the signal reception issues and increase the RAM to 1 GB atleast, I would retain this phone for few years.
But, now, I intend to switch to Samsung Galaxy S II.

I am agree with poor signal issue with nokia N8. I have two cell with one is N8 and other one is N26 with nearly 4.5 year old but at same place Nokia N8 showing very poor quality of network signal compared to N26. So for same network provider with two different cell with same manufacture how can drastic different that is also investing nearly RS.22000!
    Please resolve the issue ASAP.
