No signal to monitor

I received my new H50-50 the other day but couldn't check it out as my monitor has a DVi connector where as the computer has a VGA connector. I sent off for an adapter so I could use the monitor which I have just received. On connecting it up and turning on the computer I'm getting no signal to the monitor. I've tried both the VGA connectors on the rear of the computer but still no luck. Might you have any advice for me? Thanks

Working perfectly now...

  • Since update download monitor shows "No Signal" and "Monitor Going to Sleep" over and over

I have an HP w2072a Monitor and a Pavillion p7-1436s computer.  I run Windows 8.  Since downloading an update yesterday, I cannot get my monitor to work.  I have unplugged it, plugged it in, tried another monitor, tried another cable, turned the computer off and on several times, played with the sleep button, tried all the buttons on the monitor--nothing works.  If I hit the "On" button, the light turns to blue briefly, I get the screen showing "No signal" then "Monitor Going to Sleep" comes up and the light turns amber---over and over again.  Could this be related to the update I received?  I think the update said it was setting a restore point, but with no monitor, I am stuck!

    Hi dianthus,
Sorry to hear about the issue after doing the update. Do you recall what the update was for? I have included a document regarding your issue.

After my mac mini went to sleep today, it refused to wake up. I thought it was the keyboard, so I restarted the mac, it chimes, HD seems to spin, but no signal on monitor. I tried a 2nd monitor and no go.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

I tried zapping PRAM and that didnt do anything
Does target disk mode mean that the RAM memory is ok?

     :cry:My problem is this.
For a few weeks now I have been getting random lock ups and crashes with the PC rebooting.  I thought that this could have been an overheating problem as I had installed all the latest drivers for my hardware.
So I took the pc to bits removing everything from the case & cleaning all the dust & muck out. I took off the cpu heatsink, checked the cpu for damage and this was ok. I then put fresh thermal grease on the cpu. Then I rebuilt the system making sure all ram and cards were properly seated.
Now when I turn the pc on I get no where.  The power & hard drive lights come on. All the fans are working. You can hear the hard drive spinning ok. But I am getting no signal to the tft monitor, nor am I getting any POST beeps.  The D bracket on the back just has 4 steady green lights on it.
I have tried a spare crt monitor with the same results.
I have also tried an old pci graphics card, leaving out the agp card, with the same results.
I hope anybody can shed light on my problem and give me some advice.
    Thanks

I am not saying it's definately the motherboard but I had a similar experience in the past and bought a new mobo, all was OK then. You could always take your pc to a repair shop to get it looked at. It would be a shame to buy a new board if the problem was just a dud capacitor or something like that. I would do that first if I were you!
If you decide to replace the motherboard then the MSI 865PE Neo2-PFS Platinum (Socket 478) Motherboard (MB-018-MS) from http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/MSI_Socket_478.html looks quite good, if you still plan on sticking with MSI.
    Hope that helps

  • Mac Pro no longer sending signal to Monitor

The Mac Pro 2 x 2.8 Quad Core I purchased a few months back has developed a rather serious fault over night. The mac powers up as normal but doesn't send a signal to the monitor. I've tested the monitor on my PC and it's fine (I've also plugged the PC monitor into the MAC, just to be sure, and there's no signal).
I opened the Mac and looked at the Graphics Card which has power and doesnt show any signs of any burnt resistors or fuses etc. and I called Apple and they say they have to send someone to collect it and take it away to be fixed. Thing is, that could take a week and I'm a freelance designer and can't survive without my Mac! Has anyone else experienced this or has any ideas what might be the problem? Thanks.

I am now on my third HD2600XT. The first one was replaced because of a ghosting issue after doing Leopard Graphics Update a while back. Even the Apple engineers couldn't come up with a solution. There is no ghosting when booted into 10.53 without that update. Another forum member gave me a solution: Simply turn my screen off and then on. Ghosting gone.
The second card just died a few days ago, well it didn't really die but my screen was filled with flickering green pixels. I spoke with Apple Care and the young guy thought it might be the mother board... I had run different hardware tests always with positive results so I simply asked him to send me out a new graphic card for advance replacement. I have never had a problem with Apple in this regard. They had the new card to me in three days, I popped it in and now everything is perfect.
Next time just tell Apple you want to diagnose the problem with an advance replacement part. It is normal process. If it doesn't work, you can just send it back. Much better than lugging a Mac Pro through the snow.

  • Aspire V3-571 not providing connected signal to monitor in power save

I recently reconfigured a number of my systems, and ended up with an Acer monitor on my Acer Aspire - the monitor had previously been used with a Dell laptop. You would think two Acer products would work better together, but it's actually slightly worse. When an external monitor is used with VGA, there are three states: the computer is driving video down the wire, the cable is connected but the computer is not sending video, and cable disconnected. The monitor can recognize these states and behave accordingly. The middle state, when the computer is either in power save mode or turned off, is the problem. In such a case, the monitor should simply blank the screen and go into its own power save mode - which it did with my Dell. With the Aspire, the monitor goes into disconnected cable mode (where it displays a moving error message forever) as soon as power save kicks in and the laptop stops sending video. This is no big deal when the laptop is off, since I can just turn off the monitor and save some electricity. But it's really annoying when the computer is on. This is especially true since this same monitor worked perfectly well with the Dell laptop. So the Acer machine is not providing a "proper" signal for some reason. My question is - does anyone know of some configuration option on the Aspire that will cause it to send a signal that the monitor will recognize as power save when the laptop is in that state - or off? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. Good suggestion about checking for new drivers - always useful. Alas, there were none, but it did give me a chance to revisit the VESA DPMS spec that governs such things. Described well here:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VESA_Display_Power_Management_Signaling I had forgotten that there were two intermediate levels (HSYNC on VSYNC off and the opposite). Obviously On and Off are seen by the monitor, with the latter interpreted as cable disconnect. I just don't seem to get one of the other states from the Aspire like I did from the Dell. The Intel HD4000 chipset in the Aspire claims to support DPMS, it just isn't working the way it worked with the Dell. That machine uses an older Intel graphics chipset. Once I had an oscilloscope in my garage and I could have looked at the pins to see what is being sent to the connector. No longer. I guess I just live with this unless a new driver shows up, or someone comes up with another solution.

  • No signal on monitor after Windows 8 logo

I have a Lenovo H430-2558-1ZU desktop running Windows 8 Pro with Media Center. It orignally came with Windows 7. I was using it then all of a sudden the video went dead and I got no signal on the monitor. I restarted and after the Windows 8 logo, I get No Signal on the monitor. Windows 8 is running because I can hear sounds from the speakers. After using this method, I booted into safe mode. I uninstalled the Intel HD Graphics driver from safe mode and restarted in normal mode. It was fine for a few minutes, but then I got no signal on the monitor. So I booted into safe mode again and uninstalled the driver. I installed a new driver from intel's website, but I still have the same problem. I tried to uninstall the monitor driver, but still have the same issue. The monitor is connected to the computer's HDMI port via an XtremeMac HDMI to DVI cable. The monitor is a Viewsonic VX1945wm I've used for many years. I don't think this is a hardware problem, because my Ubuntu install works just fine. I'm at a loss here, IDK what to do. Please help!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi seagdude,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that monitor is displaying blank screen with “No Signal” error message even after re-installing the Graphic drivers the issue is same and the H430 is not working as expected in Safe Mode as well.
This seems to be compatibility issue with Windows 8 and as driver re-installation is done and the issue still persists, re-install the Operating System will resolve the issue using the Windows 7 recovery disc that is made when the computer had pre-installed Operating System in it.
NOTE: Please backup the data before performing OKR as the computer will be re-installed to its factory settings.
If recovery discs are not created, please contact our Telephone Support team for the further information, I’m sure they will be a great help.

  • No video signal to monitor

Running WinXP Pro on MSI mainboard (6330 v.5). Just purchased a new ATI 9250 256MB AGP video card. No matter what I do, monitor (LCD) shows no signal. I've tried reseating the card dozens of times and still no go. The fan comes on but that is all. Put in my old ATI card and it works fine. I put the new card into my wifes computer (ECS mainboard) and it works great. My wife now has a new video card! Any ideas?

Quote from: Bornloser on 13-December-05, 10:14:19
The system does start, I'm sure. I'll get a long beep and then a short beep (I think) at post. That's when I know the card isn't working, along with no video message on screen. If I let it continue to run for a minute then hit the power button to shut it off, I put in my old card and then boot. I get the screen telling me that Windows didn't fully load with the option to start normally. That's because I shut the system down prematurely. I've tried everything suggested here and other forums that I visit. I guess I just have to bite the bullet and say that it is a compatibility issue and let my wife keep the new card.
    Hmmm....  9200 = PCI  and 9250 = AGP ?   if so i might have a solution.

  • Suddenly lost ability to Signal External Monitor

    Hello,
I've been using a Viewsonic external monitor just fine for about a week, no problems.  But after a restart I've lost the external monitor -- it gets recognized in the Displays Preferences, I can detect it, change resolutions etc but nothing gets to the monitor itself.  Only reports No Signal.
Weird thing:  once (only once) while changing resolutions of the external monitor it flashed alive !  Only for a second, but guessing that tells me my cable must be OK. Also: sometimes when changing the resolution of the external monitor, my MBP monitor would change to that resolution instead.  Pretty frightening, seems to me I've got a major software glitch going on.  I've reset my PRAM and of course repaired all permissions early in the game.
I'm suspicious of one thing;  I ran one of those 'cleaner' applications that erased my caches, logs, and something called a "Binaries Cutter" that was supposed to erase software my Intel MBP shouldn't need. Could that have been what ditched my software ?
Thanks for any help, I'm really desperate.
Running a MBP on Lion, even though the product line below says Leopard for some reason, can't change it.

Did all that and no luck. The computer sees the network and sees a bluetooth printer, but doesn't see the other two printers that are on the wi-fi network. Reinstalled the drivers, but can't add the printer in the system preferences because it can't see the printer. Happened very suddenly.

  • No signal on monitor with new mac mini?

i bought 3 mac mini's., But I can't get a signal on my usual small monitors (iliyama) bu8t I get a normal signal on a 'wide-screen'. What can I do about it?

The fact you are getting the same symptoms with two displays suggests the mini or the DVI/VGA adaptor may be at fault.
I would suggest you follow the suggestions in http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300583 and if that doesn't help, since this is a new mini, call Apple without any further delay.
Note that in the above document it refers to resetting the PMU. This is something related to the earlier minis. For your Intel model instead of resetting the PMU, you need to try an 'SMC reset which is done as follows:
    -Switch the system off
-Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power cord and any display cables.
    -Wait at least 15 seconds.
-Plug the power cord back in, making sure the power button is not being pressed at the time.
-Then reconnect your keyboard and mouse to the computer.
-Press the power button on the back to start up your computer.

  • Stereo signal on monitoring, but only recording in mono

Ive got a line-in cable going into my SB Audigy 24 sound card, carrying a stereo signal. When I hit F10 to monitor the recording level, Im getting a stereo signal.
However when I come to hit record, I only record a mono signal. It does this at both 16 bit and 32 bit depth.
I never had this problem with Audition 2, and I had the same sound card.
Please, what do I need to do to fix this?
    Many thanks indeed.

I've just had the same thing happen... it's one of those things Vista decided to do for me because I didn't reset it myself. If you have been recording in mono through no choice of your own, the setting in Audition's Audio Hardware Setup has got changed to one similar to this:
Default Input: [01M] Line In (name of sound card)
Click on the down arrow for the dropdown menu of input choices and set it to
    Default Input: [01S] Line In...
and that'll fix it for you. M=mono. S=stereo.

  • No signal on monitor...

Let me get straight to the point... When I power-up my PC there is no picture on the monitor. But, the Windows is loading; I can hear the sounds of Windows on my speakers. So, the PC itself is running normally, but there isn't any picture, like there is no input in the monitor. The problem gets resolved when I manually restart my PC. The picture suddenly comes back, and everything is back to normal. It only shows me something like: "Windows was shut down unexpectedly...", or something similar. I get to choose one of the options, and of course I choose to start Windows normally... I hope that you understand what I'm talking about.
I'm having this problem since I bought my new PC; a month ago. I assume that it has something with my SLI (2x MSI N460GTX Cyclone 1GD5/OC) configuration.
The proof that cause of this problems isn't the monitor is that I've bought a new one recently. Name of the new one is Acer S243HLbmii, the old one was Samsung SyncMaster T220HD. This annoying problem persist on both of those monitors. I have been using, only, the driver (form Nvidia's site) number 258.96 WHQL.
I would be very grateful for your help.

I tried to start my computer with only 1 (first one in the first slot) card and I had the same problems. Only thing I noticed, worth mentioning, is that when I detach HDMI cable from graphics card, on monitor screen I can see this message: "Cable Not Connected". So, it's different than situation where is just "No Signal", but cabel is connected in that situation.
After that I tried to use only second card, putting it in the first slot... And now... All the problems are gone.
I will leave this card (which was previously on the second slot) in the first slot, and put the first card on the place of the second card (second slot)... Connect them with SLI bridge, and see what happens.

  • Monitor does not come on due to no input signal. Monitor is hp w2207. Hp media center pc m 260 N.

Desktop PC is connected correctly but monitor indicates no input signal & monitor goes to sleep mode. All my wireless laptops work ok. Does this have anything to do with wireless setup?

Although it appears the computer model name is incomplete, I assume you mean a HP Media Center m260n Desktop Computer. Here are the specs for your HP Pavilion w2207 LCD wide-screen flat panel monitor. The computer supports VGA only, unless you have previously installed an 8x AGP graphics card. The monitor supports both VGA and DVI-D.
The first step in troubleshooting this issue would be to connect the monitor to a known working computer using the same VGA cable. Does the monitor work??? Yes... could be the computer, No... could be the monitor or the cable. Next, connect the computer to another known working monitor with the same VGA cable. Does the monitor display a picture??? Yes, computer is good, No... computer or cable  is bad. Post the results if you need more assistance.

  • Rig failing to start, all 6 CPU LEDs lit, no BIOS failure, no signal on monitor

    Hi.
I purchased new parts for my computer and started assembling them 2 days ago. Everything went fine and I managed to install Windows 7 to my Corsair SSD Force 3.
Everything ran fine yesterday until I started tweaking with the OC settings. I got a stable config from a friend who has the same rig as me, saved settings in BIOS and started computer, ran a 10 minute Prime95 full load test and none of my cores ran warmer than 71 degrees. After this I restarted my computer, and from that point I can't get ANY video signal on any of monitors from my graphics card or the internal gpu. The computer powers on, all 6 LEDs for the CPU are lit but none of the BIOS error LEDs are lit.
    Things I've tested so far:
*Checked my XFX 5970 Black Edition in another computer - Worked
*Tested all ports on the dedicated and integrated gpu.
    *Tested both PCI-e ports
    *Reset BIOS with the jumper
*Removed CMOS battery and power cable to MB
    *Unplugged SSD disc

Did you test your CPU on another rig?
Maybe it's time to pay the price for that "stress testing".
