No Signal with HDMI to TV

I just bought & hooked up my Mac Mini to my Samsung TV via HDMI Cable and it just says 'no signal'
I've googled the problem but can't get anywhere, tried it with multiple cables which all work with my apple tv but i can't get anywhere with the Mini
Any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks

Hi there,
I'm having the exact same issue at the moment which Apple and another vendor have been unable to fix. However, they've only tried replacing the logic board, which leads me to think this is a software issue introduced by the 10.10.1 update (which, ironically, was introduced to prevent signal loss when waking from sleep). I'm not sure if an update has been released to fix this but I'd recommend calling Apple and getting them to sort it, especially as you've only just purchased the machine.
If your display has a VGA connection, I'd ask them to provide you with the Thunderbolt/MiniDisplay to VGA adaptor.
Hope you get it sorted.
Best,
R

HI i have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2011). some days ago i connected it to my LG plasma 60" with HDMI. i used the DVI --> HDMI converter from apple. the it worked fine and i could se films om the tv. but now nothing happens when i connect the mac. help??

    Hello,
I had this problem with y Macbook Air and an Asus LED monitor 21.5". The very first time I tried the two together, it worked perfectly. The second time it didn't work and I tried different things to make that "No HDMI signal" go away.
The only thing that worked for me was connecting both devices OFF, once connected I turned the monitor ON first and then started my Macbook Air.
I really hope this helps some of you.
    Good luck

  • Z97M GAMING no hdmi signal with DVI converter

My monitor has VGA/DVI only (Samsung SyncMaster 213T), I have a HDMI to DVI converter in the DVI port, this works with the HDMI out from my laptop.
Am putting together a Z97M/4790K rig. I get no signal at the monitor from the Z97M's HDMI out, if I connect it to a TV I do get a signal.
Am using the same (short) HDMI cable and adaptor with both the laptop and the new Z79M, used the same cable to connect the Z79M to the TV.
So the cable and converter are good (they work with the laptop) and the Z79M HDMI port and cable are good with the TV.
Anyone have any idea why the Z97M HDMI output wont display on my monitor? (Any bios settings to make the HDMI signal more compatable?)

Yes, to be clear, there is no GPU. When I say the Z97M's HDMI out I mean the output from the Z97M motherboard. I have tried it with a second screen, the TV (it worked).
Logically one of two things must be happening... either the Z97M's HDMI signal isn't making it through the DVI/HDMI adaptor (when the laptop's signal is), or the monitor cannot process the Z97M's HDMI signal (when it can process the laptop's).
HDMI and DVI signals are the same, so the adaptor is just a plug converter ('square plug in round hole') and unlikely to be the issue, especially as it works with the laptop.
But both the monitor and laptop (which work together with HDMI and the DVI converter) are >5 years old. The Z97M is very new and could be it's HDMI output just isn't compatable in some way with the (relatively) old monitor.
Hence am wondering (for example) if there are any Z97M bios settings which might make it talk nicely to the old monitor.
Be interested to hear if anyone has had issues (or even success!) using the HDMI out with DVI monitors, especially old Samsung SyncMasters ?

  • What is the problem with 15-inch Macbook Pro model 2011 after connecting to TV with HDMI chord?

Today we connected a 15-inch Macbook Pro model 2011 with HDMI chord to an Insigna Television. We plugged and unplugged couple of times. But recently the macbook pro is having technical issues. The following symptoms are:
    1. Macbook pro turns on and off
    2. The screen stays blue and keeps loading but does not load to the desktop so you can't access to anywhere
    3. The screen sometimes becomes fuzzy and the apple logo that shows before it loads to the desktop is fuzzy
    4. Sometimes fuzzy lines appear on the screen like you see on television when there's a bad signal
    5. The screen stays blue
    6. Sometimes little specks appear on the screen
Only thing we did was turn it off and restart but it still leads to the same symptoms above.
Does anyone have any clue what caused this problem? I am guessing it is due to the connection to the HDMI chord, since we didn't turn the macbook on and off when we plugged it, rather we just unplugged and plugged the chord while the macbook is running.
Another theory might be watching movies from an online source but the first theory seems to make more sense.
We scheduled a meeting with the genius bar tomorrow but does anyone might have any clue? And also any ideas how to fix this? This is an emergency because there are important files on the macbook we didn't back up and we hope the files are safe and we need to use the macbook ASAP. Let us know anything that might have caused this and/or any solutions or help. That would be appreciated and thank you.

Hey there! Welcome to the Discrete GPU issue clube ... post your relate here >>> 2011 MacBook Pro and Discrete Graphics Card
And for GOD SAKE! Call Apple to tell them that you're another user with such problem ...  that action can improve a future recall. BTW the fix price for your problem is around U$ 1000,00 ... that's the meaning of the recall attempt

  • GTX 770 twin frozr 4GB no signal via HDMI. DVI connection fine.

    Windows 8.1 update 1
    Geforce driver version 335.23
I cannot get the video output from the HDMI to work. I have been using DVI to DVI and replaced the cable with HDMI, however only get a "no signal" message when I try to. I have adjusted the input type on the monitor to HDMI but nothing is being displayed. Is there anything I need to do to output video on HDMI (I assume it should happen just by plugging in)? I haven't had a chance to test the monitor on another PC as yet, but this will be my next option.
    Any suggestions welcome.

Yes, I initially set it up with the HDMI as the only connection, but I also tested having both DVI and HDMI connected at the same time - in this case it detects the model number of the monitor through HDMI and gives me the option for extended desktop etc - however, if I try selecting duplicate screens and then cycle through the input types on the monitor, when it gets to HDMI the screen is just black.
I'll swap the monitor with my TV when I get back home tonight and see what the results are then.
On other thing issue (probably unrelated) is I get noticeable ghosting, especially when scrolling down webpages (dark text leaves a white silhouette) - I'm using the same DVI cable and monitor that I was on XP, the only difference being the OS and the graphics card.

  • When connected to lg monitor with hdmi cable i get no sound

when connected to lg monitor with hdmi cable i get no sound

The issue here is that HDMI cables, as the name indicates, carry audio signals to the monitor. Therefore if the monitor has no built in speakers then there will be no sound. If you have external speakers you can plug them into the audio out slot on the back of the monitor and the problem will be solved.
However, if the screen does have built in speakers you need to go Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Manage Audio Devices and set either your headphone jack or the screen to be the default device. And then you ca pick which device the sound will play from. Either yourlaptop speakers or whateer speakers are plugged into the laptop or the Monitor and whatever speakers are plugged into the monitor

  • [Solved] A75A-G35 gives no video signal over HDMI, resolution over DVI limited

    Hello community,
following problem: I have been using my A75A-G35 board with an A4-3400 Llano APU, the APU has been connected to a 19" BenQ FP91GP monitor via a DVI cable. I got its maximum resolution of 1280x1024 with no issues.
Now I have purchased a 24" Dell U2415 monitor with a maximum resolution of 1920x1200 and wanted to connect it to my computer. However, I got stuck:
    1. I get no signal whatsoever using the HDMI output and a HDMI>HDMI cable. I have tested a different computer and connected it to the Dell with the same cable successfully, so the cable and the monitor should be fine.
edit: Disregard the following as the problem with the DVI cable appears also with the other computer. The problem is therefore just the fact that the HDMI output of the board doesn't work!
    2. I get a signal with a DVI>DVI cable + DVI>HDMI adapter. I can access the BIOS, the boot manager and see the boot screen, however once the desktop should be displayed the screens turns black and the monitor keeps switching to standby and back on again, the screen staying black all the time, however. But before installing the driver package (for chipset and video, downloaded from the MSI website), I could see the desktop with a resolution of 800x600. Also, if I boot into safe mode, I can see the desktop and increase the resolution up to 1280x1024. Higher resolutions up to 1600x1200 are available, however selecting any of them results in severe screen flickering.
    3. If I boot my Linux install, I have almost the same behaviour. I see the boot messages but then the screen turns black when the desktop should appear. However, if I connect the old BenQ monitor to the VGA port, I get a signal on both screens, however both screens have the resolution 1280x1024 and I cannot increase the resolution of the Dell, because if I try to, the screen turns black again. Lower resolutions than 1280x1024 are possible, though. Note that the "second monitor trick" does only work with Linux, with Windows I get only a black screen on both monitors.
As a side note, the DVI cable I'm using is a DVI-D single link, so the maximum resolution it supports is actually exactly the resolution of the Dell, 1920x1200.
    Thanks for any hint,
    Photon

    your welcome!
when you said your problem and the symptoms I thought that board sounded familiar as alot of people when it first came out that we had to explain that to them so I had a look and yes it had the jumpers to switch ports for its digital display display signal to be routed to another port so i thought that was the cause!
have fun with your board now you have it in HDMI mode!

  • Toshiba 22L1334G problems with HDMI

First of all, thanks everyone for trying to help me :)
Now let's get to the problem: i bought this Tv-Monitor yesterday and i've immediatly connected it to my PC (Video Card AMD R9 270X) with HDMI cable (The cable is rev. 1.4 and less then 1.5m).
The overall definition is very good, but i actually have 2 problems:
first, the colors are really saturated and i can't get them natural even setting the Video Card Values.
Second, the text with little font if it isn't black is very blurred and pixeled, very difficoult to read.
Searching o Google i found similiar problems for lot's of people, but they resolved the problems simply setting the HDMI as PC input.
Unfortunately they were using Samsung's or LG's displays and in my Toshiba one there isn't the setting to set the HDMI as PC signal.
What can i do to use this TV as monitor in a good way?

    Hi
First of all I have to say that this Toshiba 22L1334G device isnt an PC monitor but its an TV which can be connected to the computer using the available RGB (VGA) port.
So in case you want to connect an computer to this TV and want to use it as an external monitor, you should use the available VGA port
I have to say that I had the same problems in the past with the blurred fonts using the HDMI port.
I connected had an monitor/TV combo device and connected my notebook to an external monitors HDMI port.
The blurred fonts were really a pain using office applications But I found a solution; my device supported an additional DVI port and I could connect my notebook to monitor using HDMI-to-DVI cable.
My other monitor supports from another manufacturer supports additional settings to change the font sharpness so I can use the HDMI port.

  • Dual screen with HDMI and DisplayPort

    Hi all,
I have one question regarding my MSI GTX960.
Today I just received a DisplayPort>HDMI cable to connect my TV with HDMI.
So here is my configuration :
    - GPU HDMI => Primary Screen HDMI
    - GPU DisplayPort => TV HDMI
    Here is my problem :
    - When I boot the computer, the GPU DisplayPort takes priority over the GPU HDMI output which my primary screen is plugged in.
    - Unless I unplug the HDMI cable from my TV (plugged to the DisplayPort of the GPU), it won't boot on the GPU HDMI output.
I tried all DisplayPorts to see if there was some priority but with no chance.
So I'm really disappointed as even if my TV is shut down, the computer will not boot on the GPU HDMI output and I can't access my BIOS from it (unless I unplug the DisplayPort cable before booting).
Is there a way to set default port or fix this annoying issue ?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your quick replies guys :D !

nope, this can't be changed its how its works
That's what I was thinking about and in fact I think it's more related to my TV as when I connect it while shut down I hear the connexion sound. It seems it is more in standby than totally shut and the GPU may have a signal from it.
Quote from: RemusM on 16-June-15, 00:43:16
The ports priority order is defined in VBIOS.
As Svet already mentioned, it cannot be changed.
Maybe having another DisplayPort for my primary screen would fix the problem ? What do you think about it ?

  • How to connect my Satellite C650 to TV with HDMI cable?

Connecting my laptop with my television??
I have Satelite C650 laptop which isnt that old, but ive connected my laptop to the television using a HDMI cable and it isnt working.
The television is a samsung 1080p one, i would be grateful for some advice.
    Many thanks
    Claire

    Hello Claire
I presume you use your notebook with original preinstalled OS that you got with your notebook so it should work without problems.
Connect your notebook to the TV with HDMI cable. If your TV has several HDMI ports please enable right port on TV and after doing this use FN+F5 key combination to switch from notebook to the TV.
When you use FN+F5 key combination can you see several options including HDMI option?

How can I connect my 3gen apple tv with HDMI to my BUSH LCD32TV022HD
This does not have an HDMI port but does have:-
    1) S-Video I/P,
    2) Video I/P,
    3) Audio Input (Left & Right)
    4) Audio In jack (for VGA and DVI source)
    5) DVI input
    6) VGA input

    Welcome to the Apple community.
The Apple TV doesn't officially support a DVI connection, however you may be able to get it to work. You will first need to check that your TV supports either 720p or 1080p as well as HDCP. If you are able to get the video working over the DVI connection, you may also require a DAC in order to connect with Apple TV's optical audio output to the TVs audio imput.
You may well wish to make sure that the DVI connection works before spending any money on a DAC..

  • How do I use my late 2011 iMac ( with thunderbolt) as external monitor for laptop/Xbox or other device with hdmi as output.

May be this question has been asked thousand times. how do I use my mid 2011 iMac ( with thunderbolt) as external monitor for laptop/Xbox or other device with hdmi as output. if apple hasn't removed that feature and has just moved that functinoality to thunderbolt then how can I use it. currently there is no laptop available with thunderbolt output. no 3rd party converter available. whats the use of having feature on latest functionality if we cant use it. I wish they would have made one port has mini-dvi and other thunderbolt for backward compatibility untill some vendor comes up with converter.

    It Says :
Mac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011) and iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) and later computers support Target Display Mode via Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt cable (2 m) when the source is another Thunderbolt-equipped computer.
Name one computer model/vendor which has thunderbolt as output for display + audio. this is so stupid to move to new technology without availbility of its compatible devices.

  • How to connect macbook pro to panasonic tv with hdmi cable

How to connect macbook pro to panasonic hd tv with hdmi cable

    Hi m,
It depends which MPB you have and the inputs on the TV. The following assumes your TV has an HDMI input which will work with a computer.
This is if your MBP is from April 2010 or newer:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4241
First connect the adapter to the MBP and the HDMI cable from the adapter to the TV, then go to System Preferences > Sound > Output > select HDMI.
Or if your MBP is older than that and you have a Mini DisplayPort, you can use something like this: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/CBLMDPHDMID/
If it's older than that, for video you need a DVI or mini DVI to HDMI or whatever input your TV has. For audio, you need a 3.5mm stereo mini plug to RCA or optical (Toslink), depending on what audio input your TV has.
