No signing identity found

Howdy,
I found an Adventure project for the Mac, and wanted to mess around with it. However, when I try to run or build it, I get a message that gives me the above identity error and the option to fix it. this in turn gives me a message window saying  ". . . you need to add an Apple ID account that is enrolled in a Developer Program."
Which evidently I no longer am. There was a time way back when on joined the Developer Program for free, but now in looking around at the website, it looks like it has become rather expensive (99 bucks a year!!) and in particular for a person who just wants to play around and try to learn things; not develop for fame or fortune.  Does Apple have some sort of generic, for your computer only identity or would I have to join up, pay 99 bucks just to run this project code?
An Aside============>
Heck, right now, I am playing with fortran and want to get the original Adventure Source Code up and running - - just for fun. I am working my way through an old FortIV manual, again for fun and a really interesting history lesson, and I have a Fortran 90 / 95 Manual on the way to keep on going with my history lessons.
eventually, I'll get back to working through Objective-C and C++. I thought that it would be fun to see how this Mac project worked, but alas no joy.
I appreciate your insights!!

Howdy,
I did have a Apple ID kind of registration, just no groups etc.  However, I did notice that for signing identity, there was a NONE radio button that cleared things up after I clicked the button. I had to quit Xcode and restart it to get things to build correctly however. Thank you for sending me in the right direction!!

  • No matching code signing identity found - Xcode error

    Hello,
I am new to Mac and Xcode. I just want to learn Xcode and not publish any apps. Hence I did not enroll in the paid developer program.
Whenever I try to create a project in Xcode, it gives me this error - "No matching code signing identity found". If I click on "Fix Issue", it asks me to add my apple ID. I did that but I cannot add it to any team. I also tried requesting a certificate through keychain. But I am not sure on how to check the status of that.
Please pardon my lack of knowledge on this as I just a beginner. But any help on this will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • Xcode Problem 'No signing identity found' how to fix?

Hi, I am in no way a developer, I just use XCode to compile some applications I use where the latest releases are only available as source code.
Until now I have not had any issue compiling these applications.
However, just recently when trying to compile Boxer from http://www.boxerapp.com/ I am presented with an error that states:
    No signing identity found
I do not wish to codesign someone elses' application with my own nonexistent signing identity. Can this pointless function be bypassed so I can build the app sucessfully?

Have you looked in the build settings to see if Don;t Code Sign is selected?

  • No code siging identity found

I am building a project which targets iphone/ipad using xcode 5 . When i build this project, it says
No matching signing identity found No signing identities (i.e. certificate and private key pair) matching the value specified in your build settings, "Mac Developer:", were found. Xcode can update your build settings to their recommended values.
When i click fix issue button it says The selected team doesn't have a Mac Developer Program membership Select a team with a Mac Developer Program membership and try again. I only  an iOS developer program membership through my university, no mac membership.
I've change the Code Signing Identity in Build Settings Tab, and tried a lot of solutions propsed on stackoverflow  ,but the issue still exist.
How can i fix this issue?

  • Signing identity needed for Xcode?

I am thinking about getting trained in writing Swift apps and have been tinkering with xCode.
One trivial app ran OK.  When I tried something ever-so-slightly more complex, I got an error message
    "No signing identity found"
"Xcode can request a new iOS Development signing identity for you."
and clicking on "Fix problem" I ended up at a web page where I need to sign up for $99 to the Apple developer program.
Is this a pre-req for trying out xCode/Swift?  I haven't yet decided if I want to proceed down this route, so would rather not pay until I have made up my mind.

You select the device or simulator at the top left of the Xcode window
You;ll need to select a simulator and recompile the code

  • A signing identity could not be found

    Hi,
I've already spent 6 hours about this problem.
but I can't find the solution.
When I look in the Organizer, in the Provisionning Profile section, my provisionning profile has an alert and this message :
"A signing identity matching this profile could not be found in your keychain"
    The fact is following.
I worked fine with my new Mac Mini (Mac OS 10.5.6).
And I have another Mac Mini.
But it's Mac OS is 10.4.4, so it can't upgrade Mac OS 10.5.*.
I purchased Mac OS 10.5.4 Family Pack and installed.
To develop iPhone application with old Mac, I exported the private key from new Mac and imported it into old Mac. (double-click in Finder)
In keychain, a pair of certificate and private key is maded.
I downloaded original Provisioning Profiles in Provisioning section of Program Portal and drag into Xcode organizer.
But, in provisioning section of organizer, alert message is displayed as following.
"A signing identity matching this profile could not be found in your keychain"
So, I tried to down and install certificates from Program Portal.
    Certificates section/Development tab/WWDR Intermediate Certificate
    Certificates section/Development tab/developer_identity.cer
    Certificates section/Distribution tab/WWDR Intermediate Certificate
    Certificates section/Distribution tab/distribution_identity
But however, it is still in the same state.
    Does anybody can help me?

I had the same issue and finally solved it. One problem was that my Apple Developer ID Organization name was different than the one used to set up the iPhone developer account. I changed that, and then recreated the Keychain certificate using the name that matched the Organization ID in both places (for the Distribution certificate). This may or may not have been the issue as at first it still gave the error.
I then closed and restarted Xcode, and then it worked. Apparently Xcode was holding on to an earlier certificate created, which definitely had the wrong Organization name (it did not match either the Apple Developer or the iPhone program Organization name). Therefore, if Xcode gets this error once, its not reloading or checking the keychain for a new certificate.

  • CodeSign error: no certificate found in keychain for code signing identity

I've been wrestling with this for a week. Can someone help. I have followed the instructions closely to get my iphone app ready for distribution, but I cannot compile my app due to the following error:
CodeSign error: no certificate found in keychain for code signing identity 'iPhone Distribution: iPhone Developer (my name)
However, it definitely is there. In my Keychain I see the proper certificate. Furthermore, in the build file my Code Signing Identity -> Any iPhone OS Device is set to iPhone Distribution: (my name) but under "Code Signing Provisioning Profile" there are no valid choices. The distribution certificate is grayed out.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!!

For the build error, "codesign error: code signing identity 'iphone developer' does not match any code-signing certificate in your keychain":
    1) Open Keychain Access application.
    2) Select the "Systems" tab under the Keychains sidebar and "certificates" under the Categories sidebar.
    3) You should see the "com.apple.kerberos.kdc" and/or "com.apple.systemdefault" certificates with a red x in the icon.
    4) Double click them and under the "trust" node change the "When using this certificate: " tab to Always Trust. You may need to restart Xcode for this to work.

  • "no identity found" error when code signing

    Hello,
I am trying to codesign an iPad IPA file supplied to me be an external app development agency.  To carry out the app signing, I first installed the distribution cert and private key (.p12 file) in to Keychain. I also installed the intermediate WWDRCA cert and the ios_development cert.  I'm using the following command from the iOS terminal to sign my app:
    codesign -f -s ituneskey.p12 AppName.ipa
and the error I get is :
    ituneskey.p12: no identity found
My distributuon cert is valid, I have checked this in Keychain Util.
What am I doing wrong and how can I resolve this?

    Hi K T,
I had previously gone through the two links you mentioned before posting to this forum, but to no avail. I have a couple of theories. One is that because the developer who wrote the app is not part of my companies "Team" in our iOS developer account, he used his own developer certificate to create the app. Now the problem is when we come to signing the app with our distribution certificate, which by the way now works (see below), when validating the archive during upload it fails.
The reason why codesign was not working as previously stated in my original post was because I was using the wrong identity? The command I used was:
    codesign -f -s ituneskey.p12 AppName.ipa
However I should have been using the following:
    codesign -f -s [Valid Identity Here] AppName.ipa
where [Valid Identity Here] is replaced with the identity used in our developer account and distribution certificate.
I've got that bit working, but now when I use Organiser to either Validate or Distribute the archive I get the following error:
Application failed codesign verification. The signature was invalid, contains disallowed entitlements, or it was not signed with an iPhone Distribution Certificate.
I then went on to read the following post:
    http://oleb.net/blog/2011/06/code-signing-changes-in-xcode-4/
In this post I noted a section where it states :
Update: Colin Humber, developer at TestFlight, made me aware of a potential problem with this approach. Apparently, the App ID of the provisioning profile that is used for building the app is hardcoded into the binary during the build process. If you later resign the app with a provisioning profile that belongs to different App ID, the one in the binary will no longer match the provisioning profile’s App ID since the binary will not be recompiled. This can cause all sorts of problems with services that rely on the App ID, such as access to the keychain, Push Notifications, or In-App Purchasing.
This issue will not affect you as long as you use your default “wildcard” App ID (the one that looks like1234567890.*). But if you use a separate concrete App ID to publish your app on the App Store, you have to make sure to build your app with a provisioning profile that uses the same App ID. You should not use your default Team Provisioning Profile for release builds in that case. Thanks for the heads-up Colin!
And since we DO USE a unique AppID per app I think this is the reason why Validation is failing and I'm getting the above stated new error.
Is the solution therefore to add the developer to our developer Team and get him to use our AppID when building the app?

  • Can't solve "valid signing identity not found" issue

    Hello,
I'm having a lot of trouble getting an app to build properly.  I'm using the Corona SDK, but I believe that my true problem lies here:
It says, "Valid signing identity not found."
I've gone through the process of uninstalling all of my Provisioning Profiles and reinstalling them numerous times but still haven't solved this issue.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    - Bret

    Hi etresoft,
Thanks so much for taking the time to reply to my question.  I am under the assumption that my build issue has something to do with the "Valid signing identity not found." message that appears in the XCode Provisioning Profiles window.  In all probability, this is causing my build issue, and it seems like a Provisioning / Keychain issue and not necessarily a Corona SDK issue. I did contact Corona anyhow and I'm waiting for a reply.
If there's any chance you can help me debug the "Valid signing identity not found", I would be very grateful!
    Cheers,
    - Bret

  • Valid Signing identity not found.

    Hi All,
    Developer:
I can able to use the dev provisioning after revoking the developer certificate. All the dev certificates are showing modify status. So no issue with any certificates, y becoz all are dev certificates.
    Distribution:
I have already submitted one app in the app store with version 1.2. Now, I wanna release 1.3 version, but while installing the distribution provisionings. It is showing "Valid Signing identity not found" error. I don't have choice to take the p12 from my old. Only one option revoke, I think. If I revoke the distribution certificate, will it resolves my issue. If I revoke, can we upload versions for existing one. How can i resolve my issue "Valid Signing identity not found."
    Thanks,
    Rajesh

  • Valid code signing identity not found

    hi guys,
I have my mac working perfectly with my device using my dev cert (for development purposes not the distribution) and provisioning profile. I can install my apps. But if i'm using another mac, it can't find the valid code signing identity, when I'm installing the same cert and provisioning profile. What should I do to make it install in different machines? is that possible? Please help and tell me what to do. Thank you.

  • Fx4 - No signed digest found in catalog.xml of the library

    Hi all,
I'm trying to use Flex 4 compiling the simple example on LineChart and AreaCharts controls in Flex 4 (see in laguage reference of Flex4)
I really cut and pasted in a mxml file.
Then I tried compiling it (simply calling mxmlc passing the suorce file) but I received the following error:
No signed digest found in catalog.xml of the library C\Flex\Sdk\frameworks\libs\frameowrks.sw.
Compile the library with -create-digest=true and try again.
Well, I don't understand the error. I'm not using RSL. I tried to change the <compute-digest> parameter, rebulding the swc files in frameworks/libs but nothing changes (I checked in swc file and in teh catalog xml I have digest tag).
Another info: I'm not using Flex Builder 4.
    What do I have to?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

There is something basic I am missing. I started over with my installation.
I moved the quick start jar into its own directory and renamed it "adep-author-4502.jar".
    I started the jar.
After the server started I went to the package share and logged in, downloaded "es-sdk-pkg-1.0.186.zip", went to the packages and installed it.
I opened the properties for Flash Builder,
Within Flash Builder I created a new "Flex Project for ADEP Experience Services."
    Application type: Web
Under server info I connected to the ADEP server
Within the Experience Services step I selected "Composite Application Framework Services" and left Library File Management as it was.
I downloaded the ADEP SDK from experience services server and created a directory for it locally.
Inside of the new application I created a new composite application catalog.
I created an MXML component. Inside the component I used the [Tile] annotation.
Looking inside the catalog I can see the MXML component was added as a tile.
I right click the catalog I created and selected Composite Application Framework, Deploy Composite Application Catalog.
At this stage I get the error for the tile I added.
Looking under packages the CAF oriented packages are:
    mosaic-sdk-pkg-2.0.82.zip
    composite-app-pkg-1.0.38.zip
I am using Flex SDK 4.5.1.

    Hi,
I can't recall if I encountered these issue earlier but today when I opened console I noticed  these messages popping up while launching  iWork apps simultaneously. It's the old problems that plugged me even before I did clean reinstall of my OS: when launching these apps I don't see windows opened or see only some of them. Just dock indicators. I have to hit the icons again to invoke the windows.
