No sim card installed error on iPad 3G

Hello to the forum,
My iPad 3G cannot read the micro sim card installed issued by Vodafone Greece. This micro sim card works perfectly on an iPhone 4. So what i did was i restore to factory settings and install the sim card, it didn't work, I restore the hole ipad and set it up from itunes as a new ipad, it didnt work either so far at IOS 3.2.2. I restore and update to 4.2.1 set it up as a new ipad and I am still getting the no sim card installed message. I restored network settings i tried with wifi on wifi off location services on and off NOTHING works still no sim...
Can someone please advise? What is the issue? Can it be Fixed?

Chiming in from the US, it seems that a lot more of us are having this issue as well lately. My iPad has worked well under 3 OSs and I have never seen that NO SIM message until this week. I am running iOS 5 since it was released, but have not yet upgraded to iOS 5.0.1, and all of a sudden, I see that NO SIM message pretty much all the time.
I have never removed my SIM or had any trouble with 3G before this week. It's not a big problem for me since I don't use it very often at all - not even on a data plan now - but it's annoying and not what I paid for. And if it happens to my wife, she'll be in trouble.
Apple folks, has there been any official acknoeldgement for this issue, and has it been properly elevated so it will be addressed? There are quite a few threads on this out there.

When I connect it to itunes its showing the error message like "THERE IS NO SIM CARD INSTALLED IN THE IPHONE YOU ARE TRYING TO ACTIVATE".Please can anyone help me get out of this. I am using this mobile in India.

Reset, hold together Home and Power buttons for about 15 seconds until by itself iPhone turns off and then restarts. If this does not work, toggle on and off Airplane mode, obviously leaving it off. If this does not work, click icon Settings>General>click at bottom Reset>Reset Network Settings. If this does not work, use paper clip to slide out SIM Tray, and then carefully slide it back in.

  • Sim Card Error/No Sim Card Installed on Iphone5

I've had my Iphone for just over 3 days and All of a sudden the last 2 day I've had the "No Sim Card Installed" Error message pop up 3 times in two days.  I restarted the phone but It keep on coming back sporatically and without reason.  Taking it Back to Verizon tomorrow.  Could Apple be pumping these out way too fast?? This is my First Iphone.  Hope this is not a warning to switch back to Droid!!

Try taking the sim card out of the phone and then re-inserting it and re-booting the phone and this sometimes does the trick.

  • No sim error on my iPad with SIM card installed

My iPad has a new SIM card in it but gives a no sim error message, help!

I hope I'm not jumping the gun, but after having the same "No Sim Card" problem after installing iOS7, trying the various "fixes" ... removing and replacing Sim Card, turning Airport Mode off and on, etc., without a permanent fix, just now I removed the Sim Card and cleaned the inside of the Sim Card slot on my iPad2.
To do this I took a thin flexible piece of plastic ... it's actually one of the removable collar stiffeners from a men's dress shirt, but a sized strip of cardboard would also work.  I folded a cut-to-fit strip of paper towel ( I used heavy duty Bounty paper towel so it wouldn't fall apart ... a piece of clean cotton would work as well) over the plastic strip, soaked it with isopropyl alcohol, and carefully slid it back and forth in the slot a couple of times.
Then I reinserted the sim card and turned the iPad back on.  At first I got the no card message again, but after simply turning Airport mode off and on, then wi-fi off and on, it started working again.  This was a few hours ago.  I've gone back to the iPad several times now and when I've turned it on, it continues to work properly.  Only time will tell if this will work permanently, but since I've had the no card message non-stop for 2 weeks now, it's definitely encouraging.
It makes sense, because one of the fixes was to clean the Sim Card.  Why wouldn't the Sim Card's receptacle be just as likely to get dirty or have a tiny bit of dust on it, stopping the connection? Wish me luck.

  • Why does my iPad say No SIM card installed?

When I plugged in my ipad to charge a message came up that said:  No SIM card installed.  Is this OK?

Check the right and left sides of your iPad for a small hole the size of a paper clip (remove your smart cover if you have one).  If you see this, then you have the wifi + cellular model.  If you do, use a paper clip to remove the sim tray (or the sim removal tool that came with your iPad if you have it) as shown in the image below.
If the tray has a sim card in it, push the sim tray back in to re-seat it in the side of the iPad, then turn it on to see if the error message re-appears.  If it re-appears, take it to a Verizon store and have them give you a new sim card.
If you have a sim tray but it is empty, you'll need to go to a Verizon store to get a sim card for it.

How do I remove an informational message that repeatedly appears on the center of my screen of the refurbished iPad that I am trying to set up.  The message is "No SIM card installed."

    Hi Saddledoc,

It sounds a lot like your phone was hacked or jailbroken to unlock it prior to your trying to update it.
If that is the case, it is nowpermanently bricked.

The iPhone 3G is Not Compatible with iOS 6...
It also appears that your phone may have been Hacked and / or Jailbroken...
If this is the case... you are out of luck... Because...

  • I have an iphone that I just deactivated (SIM card removed) - I still want to sync with iTunes but keep getting error message that there is no SIM card installed?

I have an iphone 3GS that I have inactivated as of today. I still wish to sync this phone with iTunes (did a restore as I transferred my data to a new iPhone).  However, iTunes is giving me an error message that there is no SIM card installed in the iPhone I'm attempting to activate.  I've powered off the phone, held the power button & home button until iTunes popped up with restore note.  Re-did the restore (twice) but still coming up with same error message.

Kind of what I figured.....will I be able to sync to iTunes in future as many times as I want without the SIM card (once it's activated again)?

  • Original iPad 3G 64GB intermittantly says no sim card installed

My iPad, original 3G 64 GB intermittantly says no sim card installed.  There is no pattern as to when this occurs.  Retarting the iPad sometimes helps.  I have removed the sim card, blown out the sim slot and reintalled the sim card.  I have done everything I can think of short of restoring back to factory condition.  I have since been lent another iPad (identical to mine) and have installed my original sim card.  So far, no issues.  This leads me to believe it is an issue with the iPad itself.  Can anyone offer any suggestions or help?
    Thanks,
    Art M.

If you're stuck within an app or you've noticed a problem, simply hold both the home button and sleep/wake button at the same time. It's important to keep your fingers on these buttons until step 3.
After a few seconds the red ‘slide to power off' screen will appear, simply ignore this. Ensure your fingers are still holding down the home and sleep/wake switch.
Shortly after you should see the Apple logo, it's now safe to let go of the iPad's buttons. Your iPad should now boot, beware this process can take up to 15 minutes or so.

  • How do I stop iPad telling me I have no SIM card installed

I only use wifi, but I'm continually told every few minutes I have no SIM card installed how can I stop this.

Depending on your iPad model, if you have Siri you can tell her to turn Cellular Data off.  If you own the iPad 2, then the only way I was able to do it was to get a SIM card (you don't need to activate it) and place it in the Sim slot.  Once you do that, you then have access to turn off cellular data through settings.
Settings->Cellular Data - toggle it off.
    Hope this helps!

  • How do I stop my ipad telling me there's no sim card installed?

    Hi,
I have an iPad mini. I don't keep a SIM card in it (although I could, it's not limited to wifi only) and, in fact, I paid extra to buy the ipad without a contract to a network. Since "upgrading" to the latest ios, my ipad tells me there's "no SIM card installed" every few moments. It's happened 5 times so far, typing this and it's making me want to punch my ipad in the face. Is there any way to turn this off?
    Thanks.

Yeah, same problem here, same sentiment!   it sure feels like harassment.  no solution works (even the absurd ones).  makes me regret the update :s

    Hi CusMan!
I have an article here for you that can help you troubleshoot that issue:

The article is written toward iPhone users, but the steps for troubleshooting on the iPad are the same. Thanks for being a part of the Apple Support Communities!
