No sim error in iPad mini

Hi,
Have just purchased an iPad mini from Apple in Paris.
I was told that nano sims for ipad mini received recently by carriers do not work.
I purchased a nano sim for IPhone 5 with data plan. This sim is not read by the mini with a frustrating no sim display.
The nano sim works fine with iPhone 5 and IPad 3 (using a sim adaptor).

the problem was with the nano sims from orange France and Tunisia
i traveled to Manila and it worked perfect there.

Are you attempting to use another carriers SIM than the one used originally?
If not, try toggling airplane mode off and on.
Also try resetting network settings via settings/general/reset
Have you contacted the carrier to test the SIM card itself?

First you have to have an iPad with cellular 3/4G. Using the iPad on cellular is separate from your iPhone's cellular plan. You have to sign up to the iPad's cellular plan.

How can I get a pay as you go nano sim for my Ipad mini celluler

I was bought an Ipad Mini Cellular for Xmas but it did not come with a nano sim, I have contacted all servcie providers and no-one can provide me with a pay as you go nano sim, I can only get a contract nano sim, but I want a daily one like you can get for the Ipad and micro sim.
All providers advertise the daily packages on the Apple website but when you speak to them they are not available.
I feel like have been mis sold the Ipad mini as I cannot use it with cellular daily plan, unless I requested a nano sim at time of purchase (which was not done), so now apple say they cant help, has anyone had a similar issue ?

Download error on ipad mini with amazon book

i have downloaded many books that i have purchased on Amazon, onto my ipad mini kindle app with no problem. This one book, however, won't download. I get a msg "Download error." not sure what to do. I can't figure out how to delete it from the ipad. Thx

Turn off any auto-update, if it is on, then tap.any of the "circle icons" showing that a download is in progress, in order to stop the download. Then go to the Settings and reset the Network Settings. After the iPad starts back up, then check to make sure no apps are currently in progress of downloading. If any are, stop them again, and reset the network settings again. When it starts up again, none should be in the process of downloading. Then from that point forward, only download manually and never more than two at a time. If it is more than 100 MB, then do only one at a time. If any gets stuck at that point, then stop the download and reset the Network settings.
That should take care of you for now. We'll see what another update brings ... IOS 8.2 (which might be the next one).

ERROR 17 ipad mini update IOS 8

I was updating my ipad mini with retina display to the IOS8 . half way trough, the process stoped and there is a black screen with the itunes logo and a cable showing up in The ipad screen . also, there is an "error 17" coming up on my mac. i cannot restore my ipad nor update or have any use to it is just there this is extremly dissapointing and i really need to use my ipad mini

Error 17 is often the result of not being able to connect to the authorization server at Apple when validating an OS update. It occurs after the download and just before the iPad/iPhone connected to iTunes restores the OS software.
If this occurs even though there are no obvious network issues you should check your /etc/hosts file using terminal. i.e bring up the 'terminal' app and type this command:
cat /etc/hosts
If you see any reference to an apple server, such as:
74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
that line needs to be removed or commented out (edit the file and put a # at the start of the line). Don't modify the rest of the file as it is important to the OS during start-up.
Once corrected you should be able to repeat the restore request without encountering the error.

I am able to view the link on my iPhone so puzzled as to why I cannot on the iPad mini.

Same issue. Sitting here in Europe (Germany) trying to do some work. From the Support technical discussions, there are numerous complaints like this. Went by T-Mobile twiice already; they point the finger at Apple. (I'm sure I could call back to the USA and sit on hold for an hour, with most likely Apple blaming the telco's.) Not very impressed to say the least. Wonder how Android is doing in this regard ...........?

Storagestatus error in iPad Mini 2 diagnostic & usage data

I got a brand new iPad Mini 2 preloaded with iOS 8.1.1. After the first boot, I discovered a "storagestatus" error in the diagnostic & usage data (it's under "privacy" in the settings now). The error contains quite a bit of information regarding various flash memory variables, but indicates no clear reason for the error. The only other reference I found to this error was in a thread started by "Lady Engineer". (which ended with her iPad Air being returned twice, because the store apparently got a bad batch)
My question is: is there anyone else here who has this seen this error in his diagnostic & usage data on a new iPad? If not, I'll probably return this iPad Mini, because a diagnostic message regarding flash memory that doesn't appear normally is probably not a good sign.

I have an iPhone 5S and after I upgraded my device to iOS 8, I started having StorageStatus logs everyday. I did not have this log in iOS 7, so it has to do with iOS 8 OR compability between my particular device and iOS 8.
Here are some more details that will make you feel better:
I did fresh install from bottom up TWICE, but the StorageStatus log is still there. So, don't bother going thru with fresh installs with iTunes.
The StorageStatus is logged only once, IF YOU KEEP YOUR DEVICE ON ALL THE TIME. However if you switch your phone off and on everyday like me (I turn it off before I go to bed) then the StorageStatus is logged every day. All these logs go away with iTunes syncing.
I have seen this same behaviour with other devices, if you do a comprehensive internet search. Some in other languages but all pointing out the same issue.
So, this issue is not limited ony to your device at all. There are many others like us so don't worry
Whether this issue is related to certain bad batches or not, one thing for sure is that the devices with these logs are working just fine. No abnormal behaviours.
And again I did not have these logs in IOS 7 with the same device. It happened after iOS 8. So it can't be hardware.
MY CONCLUSION IS: Not to worry at all. Other devices that does not log "StorageStatus" logs however someothers, which my device does NOT. So this is all about BUGS...
CASE CLOSED. (At least for me)

If your Netflix application under App Store - Purchased is showing that it is already Installed on your iPad - but does not show the Netflix App in your iPad then it is most probably with the App Restriction setting on your iPad. My App Restriction on iPad was set to age 4+ only. I had to change that restriction to allow all Apps.
This what you should do to remove the restrictions on iPad to show your Netflix App.
Tap on Settings > Under General, Tap on Restrictions > (enter your Passcode) > Scroll down to Allowed Content: Tap on Apps> Tap on Allow All Apps.
Now press your Start button and it should show the Netflix icon on your iPad.

This keeps appearing at random times, but once it does it tends to be very stubborn. Any ideas on how to fix?

I too updated 4s to ios8, and have been getting No Sim Card Installed prompt message all the time. I too only use wifi all the time and no sim installed. But never get this prompt in ios7.
There are many other things that break too:
- stuttering animation
- battery draining
- browser could not open live video (previously ok in ios7).
Hope apple get it fixed.

I have an article here that has a list of settings to get from your Email provider so you can make sure that the settings are correct. It has troubleshooting steps to try as well. Also I would recommend restarting the router, and/or testing a differnet network.

If you are unable to send or receive email, try the following steps:
Restart the iOS device.
Tap Safari and attempt to load a webpage to ensure that the device has Internet access. If you're unable to load a webpage, try the Wi-Fi assistant.
Try an alternative Internet connection.
If your email is provided by your Internet provider, try connecting from the home network.
If your iOS device has an active cellular data plan, try to disable Wi-Fi: Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn off Wi-Fi.
If not, try a different Wi-Fi network.
Log in to your email provider's website to ensure that the account is active and the password is correct.
Delete the account from Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and then add the email account again on the iOS device.
If you're still unable to send or receive email, contact your email provider and verify the account settings are correct. You will need to gather this information (PDF).
