"No Sim" Message anyone?

My iphone 3g has been working fine, until a few minutes ago when I got a No Sim message? anyone know what needs to be done?
I turned off and turned the phone back on, no result...Synched again, No result.
Not sure what else to do.

I had that same problem last night. Phone was working perfectly fine and suddenly I got that error msg.
I fixed it.
Might've not been this, but this is what I did.
I removed the SIM Card and since these SIM Cards are peeled off a larger business-card-sized card, it still had some excess material at the bottom, from not peeling it accurately. Apparently, this caused the SIM Card to slip around in the Tray, and hence the error. I chipped that excess away with my teeth (or anything you like), and strongly pushed the tray back in, and it recognized it, and has been working ever since.
Hope it works.

• Since I updated to ios 6.0.1 i have the invalid sim message

When I first got the iphone 5 the day it was sent out, I had a msg about an invalid sim car (Sprint) and they replaced the sim card and no problems until I upgraded to ios 6.0.1 yesterday, now the same msg again! Anyone else have this happen with upgrading to ios 6.0.1?

This is a repost from a similar thread:
This is why I do NOT do updates when they first come out. I just updated to 6.0.1 yesterday (Nov. 14) on my Sprint iPhone 5 and shortly thereafter got the "Invalid SIM" message preventing me from making calls or having any data connection. As others experienced, I could restart the phone and it would go away, temporarily... but eventually return. Great... as I'm going on a 5 day west coast work trip Friday.
I called Sprint tech support and they wanted to take me through the typical b/u & restore process. I have not seen one person reporting that this permanently fixes anything. I said, thanks, but I can do that on my own time later if need be. I put more stock in others' experiences that a new SIM card was the only true fix.
Next called the Apple Store near me to make an appointment. The girl made several attempts to convince me to call Apple Care instead to deal with this issue. I told her I didn't get AC but she said everyone gets one free session within first 90 days of a new iPhone. I insisted on a Genius Bar tech appointment, which was made for this morning.
At the appointment the tech said he never personally has dealt with this problem. I told him what I had read about likely SIM card corruption caused by the 6.0.1 update process. He disappeared with my phone into the back room for a long time. I'm starting to think Wut T F? Then he finally emerges with a brand new Sprint SIM as he's busting it out of it's perforated plastic holding tabs. He said Apple acknowledges that this is the official fix but he had a hard time finding one for Sprint. Replaced the old with the new, turned the phone on and it has worked fine since, OS 6.0.1 still intact and no re-activation through Sprint needed. (Unless he did something I was unaware of regarding updating SIM info. to Sprint). I really don't think so, since I asked him, "Don't I have to reactivat the phone with Sprint because of the new SIM card." He answered, "Sprint's SIM card does nothing in that respect."
OK, then... but my iPhone 5 seems back to normal.

• Nokia C5-03 SIM memory full... but NO SIM MESSAGES...

Hello everyone. I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section, I'm new here.
Recently my C5-03 has a flashing envelope on the screen saying the SIM memory is full.
I searched on Google and found some topics saying to go to Messages -> SIM messages and delete them...
But problem is... no SIM messages appear! I'm desperate and can't find any other solution... what can I do?!
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Hi Hardstylehunt3r,
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Nokia discussion forums.
Sorry to hear about your issue but there certain steps you can try to resolve this issue.
Memory full messages may occur if there are too many applications running at the same time or if there is not enough free space in the phone memory. Depending on the error message, the following actions can be taken:
"Memory Full: Close some applications and try again"
In this case there are too many applications active at the same time. The problem can be fixed by closing some of the applications:
Long press the Menu key to see the list of active applications.
Select the applications which are not needed and close them.
If this doesn't help, switch off and restart the phone.
"Memory Full: Delete or remove some data from C: Phone memory"
The phone notifies you if the phone memory or memory card memory is getting low. There can be different error messages shown this situation, e.g.:
"Memory Full: Delete or remove some data from C: Phone memory"
"Disk Full : Automatic retrieval of mailbox for exchange disabled"
To free phone memory, transfer some data to the memory card with the File mgr application (select Menu > Applications > File mgr.). Select or mark files to be moved, select Options >Organise > Move to folder and then the destination folder.
In order to free memory, you could also remove or move the following:
Messages from Inbox, Drafts and Sent folders in Messaging.
Retrieved e-mail messages from the phone memory.
Saved Web pages. Clear the web browser cache to free some memory (select Options > Clear privacy data > Cache).
Saved images, videos, or sound files.
Contact information.
Calendar notes.
Downloaded application packages.
If there are applications which are not needed any more, uninstall them (select Menu > Settings > Data mgr. > App.mgr. > Installed apps.).
Any other data that you no longer need
If possible, use the memory card instead of phone memory in the Camera application (selectOptions > Settings > Memory in use to define the memory where the images are stored). You can also use Nokia Suite to transfer images and video clips to your PC.
If you are deleting multiple items and any of the following notes are shown: Not enough memory to perform operation. Delete some data first or Memory low. Delete some data, try deleting items one by one (starting from the smallest item).
Or you can try this:
To release the phone memory and change the email store from the phone memory to the memory card, follow the steps below.
Select Menu > Messaging and Options > Settings > Other.
Select Memory in use> Memory card.
To question Copy all messages to the new message memory?, select Yes.
To question Save original messages?, select No if you want to release the phone memory or select Yes if you wish to keep the original messages in the phone memory.
Alternatively you can sync your phone with Nokia suite and clear the messages that way if it is not showing on your device. Full instructions on how to sync can be found on the follwing link:
http://support.ovi.com/osc/en_GB/service/ovi_on_your_computer/howto/support-suite-syncing-and-backin...,
If this doesnt help you can try doing a soft reset by inputting code *#7780#. This wont delete any data but rather reset your phone settings. If the device ask for a default code this is usually 12345.
There's a lot to try to resolve here so give it a go and let me know if any helps.
Regards
Raoul_Duke

• I have a 6 week old 4s running 5.1.1 Just started recieving "failed sim" message the other day. This leaves me with no cell service . Service comes back after shutting down and restarting. at least until message reaapears. Has happened three times in two

I have a 6 week old 4s running 5.1.1. Started recieving "failed sim" message yesterday. this leaves me with no cell service. Shutting down and turning back own seems to alleviate problem temporarily. It has happened three times now. Help.

Sounds like you have a battry issue but don't want to believe it.
If a car was running fine on one tank of gas, then you filled it up with another tank of gas and it began to run funny, one might suspect that tank of gas. But let's just say coincidence blew a valve-- would you think the new tank of gas was the culprit?
BUT WAIT!! It just might have been! The gas could have been of higher octane and put more more strain on the valves; you know, like going from 87 octane (OS6) to 93 octane (OS7) and showing you the engine was on the edge of compromise.
Sometimes you have to go with common sense. If everything else is ruled out, it must be the battery. And if it runs fine one moment in OS6 but immediately ***** in OS7, I'd believe my battery was suspect-- though comfy-- in OS6 but the OS7 showed its true power.
Moreover, if you had the answer-- or didn't want to believe someone's more competent advice-- why did you even call? You've already shown that you don't know much when you asked if you could go backwards after setting up the new OS as a new phone.
Additonally, if you're such the know-it-all, but yourself the $29 battery and put it in yourself. It's a piece of cake.

• How do I get the 'no sim' message off

HIya, roughly two days ago my iPhone 5 came up with the'nip sim' message and it's happened before but last time I reset my phone completely and it worked fine, I reset the phone yesterday and it's still coming up with the 'no sim' message and Im stuck on the activationpest up thing and it's sayingget need to insert a simTom finish up the activation, is there anything I can do??

Hey jessivafromcardiff,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are receiving a ‘No Sim’ alert on your iPhone. The following resource should help to resolve your issue:
If you see 'No SIM' alert on iPhone
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4148
1. Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.
2. Turn airplane mode on and then off again.
3. Restart your iPhone.
4. Check for a carrier settings update. Go to Settings > General > About. Install any available update.
5. Remove the SIM card and make sure that it's a valid SIM that your carrier provided. Also make sure that it's not damaged, worn, or modified. Then reinsert it.
A SIM tray that comes with one iPhone model won't necessarily work with a different iPhone model. When you insert the correct SIM tray, the SIM tray should be flush with the device.
6. If you have another SIM card, insert it. You can use a SIM card from any phone with the same format as your iPhone SIM card. If your iPhone works with that SIM card, contact the carrier that issued your original SIM card.
7. Restore the iPhone.
If you still see the issue, contact Apple support.
Thanks,
Matt M.

• No SIM message and Cellular Data grayed and unresponsive, what is going on? My cellular data quit working as I sat on the Mexican border. Took to ATT store and they said this is common problem near the border. They fixed, but it failed in Mexico.

I purchased a domestic and international cellular package from ATT. Domestic worked for two days as I drove toward Mexico. As I sat two miles from border I tried to us cellular data again, but got No SIM message and cellular data switch greyed,. I called ATT and they told me to move away from border and try again. Didn't work. Called ATT back and they said go to ATT store in Sierra Vista, AZ. Lady there fixed and told me, "You are good to go." But she cautioned not to use until well into Mexico as sometimes domestic and international packages get confused near the border. I waited until I was about a hundred miles below the border and tried. Same message and same greying of cellular. Took to ATT when I returned. They changed SIM card and said problem is with Apple. Took to Apple and they say problem is with ATT. The fact that the ATT rep in Sierra Vista fixed makes me think it is software. I see that similar problems are common but solutions are vague and varied. Help please.

Has any had you try a reset yet? Sometimes the WiFi & Cellular anntennas get wacky.
Hold Sleep/Wak & Home buttons until the screen goes dark and you see the Apple logo

• IPad Mini "No Sim" Message

Greetings everybody,
I have an iPad mini on Verizon. It's worked like a champ for the first few weeks. All of a sudden, I started getting the "No Sim" message. I've tried all the usual stuff - rebooted it, reset network settings, hard reset, etc... I have even totally wiped it. Finally, today, I went to a VZW store, and they gave me a brand new SIM card. Unfortunately, this didn't solve anything.
Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks for any help!

Thanks for reaching out to us, jfazizzle!
Since you have already had the SIM replaced and did a factory/hard reset, please let me know if you have a case on the iPad Mini.
I have had other instances where people removed the case and that resolved the issue with No SIM Card error message.
I look forward to your reply.

Hello brajeshchandra79,
Good job on troubleshooting your issue with No SIM on your iPhone. The last few steps would be to restore your iPhone. If that does not help, then the next step would be to contact Apple for additional support.

• No SIM message

My iPhone 3G seems to work with some SIM cards and not others. One friend's AT&T SIM works beautifully and another's doesn't at all. Furthermore, if I put a non-AT&T SIM in their phone, it will give an "Invalid SIM" message. But put when I put some TMo SIMs in, it never even acknowledges there's a SIM card in the slot. Put someone else's in there and it at least shows "Invalid SIM."
I'm guessing it's a bad SIM card reader. Does that sound about right?
**TO BE CLEAR: I am not discussing anything other than a stock iPhone here. The iPhone exhibits this behavior even on a refreshly, stock-restored iPhone. Do not derail this thread discussing things we are not allowed to discuss here.**

No, the phone is already activated. My friend who sits next to me at work has an iPhone. If I put her SIM card in, a few seconds go by before it's getting a signal and I can make and receive calls. Take that one out and put another guy's AT&T SIM card in and nothing happens. Just a No SIM message at the top. But his SIM works fine in his iPhone.

• IMessage won't allow me to message anyone

When I try to use iMessage on my MacBook, I cannot message anyone. I get the error message that "(phone number) is not registered with iMessage." I can iMessage the same person using my phone, but for some reason it will not work on my computer.
I have already tried the logout/re-login fix, and cleared my message folder. Phone and computer are signed into the same account & phone number. Any other fixes?

• How to fix No SIM message

How do I fix No SIM message on IPAD?

Virgin use the Optus network here in Australia - which is why, the 3G phones showed you connected to the Optus network, and not to the Virgin network...They don't have their own network, they piggyback on Optus - which is why it would show that it is locked to Optus!
They also said they would unlock my iPhone 4 - which has been done! So there's obviously something wrong with the phone...

• E51 SIM messages

Hi, using a new E51 v201.34.38,
I can't seem to locate the messages stored on my sim card, don't see the option to check them either (checked under menu>messaging>options, neither in the options from the menu, or from within the messaging selection itself, where it's /supposed/ to be according to the manual)
Any ideas?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

I'm not sure about the E51 but most Symbian handsets to access SIM Messages you need to:
Open up the "Messaging" application
Then
Press "options"
Then
Select "SIM Messages" from the menu that appears. You should then be able to see and manipulate the SIM messages.
Shunts...
I will mostly be communicating with a Nokia E72 Zodium Black
Nokia E72-1 with Vr 051.018.207.04 Software
