"No Sim" message- what do I do?
Yesterday, I dropped my iphone in the toilet- yes- it was in my back pocket of my jeans. STUPID. I know.
So it is working, but with some nagging oddities. One- the flash comes on and stays on randomly- even when the phone is powered off. Two: now I am getting the message NO SIM in the area where the service is usually indicated. ***?! Any recommendations before I have to suck it up and beg for mercy at the ATT store?
It would help if you could ellaborate a bit more. I am assuming you do have a Sim on the phone and the phone is not recognizing it. Is your phone locked to a carrier? If yes, the iPhone will only recognize Sims from this carrier.
If it is a legitimately unlocked phone, then perhaps you need to get a new Sim from the carrier as the Sim card itself could be damaged.
If you want more help, you are going to have to tell us a bit more about the specifics of your situation

My dad & I both have iPhone 5s. He no longer uses his & my screen is cracked. If I switch our SIM cards, what data will be lost? It is important for me to save/transfer all photos, video, & *especially* all text messages. When the SIM cards are swapped between phones, will any of these things be lost/deleted?

iPhone do not store anything on the sim.
Photos should be saved on computer like any other digital camera.
You can restore the backup for your dad as well as for yourself while swapping phones. -
I purchased a domestic and international cellular package from ATT. Domestic worked for two days as I drove toward Mexico. As I sat two miles from border I tried to us cellular data again, but got No SIM message and cellular data switch greyed,. I called ATT and they told me to move away from border and try again. Didn't work. Called ATT back and they said go to ATT store in Sierra Vista, AZ. Lady there fixed and told me, "You are good to go." But she cautioned not to use until well into Mexico as sometimes domestic and international packages get confused near the border. I waited until I was about a hundred miles below the border and tried. Same message and same greying of cellular. Took to ATT when I returned. They changed SIM card and said problem is with Apple. Took to Apple and they say problem is with ATT. The fact that the ATT rep in Sierra Vista fixed makes me think it is software. I see that similar problems are common but solutions are vague and varied. Help please.
Has any had you try a reset yet? Sometimes the WiFi & Cellular anntennas get wacky.

Verizon no sim message? What SIM?
iPad 4th gen via Verizon suddenly stated giving me a " No SIM" message where he cellular data bars were. Updated to ios 7, still there. There used to be just empty circle dots, when there was no signal. Now I get the no sim message. So now I can't check my cellular data usage.
SUggestions?Replace the nanoSIM.

Hello everyone. I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section, I'm new here.
Recently my C5-03 has a flashing envelope on the screen saying the SIM memory is full.
I searched on Google and found some topics saying to go to Messages -> SIM messages and delete them...
But problem is... no SIM messages appear! I'm desperate and can't find any other solution... what can I do?!

Sorry to hear about your issue but there certain steps you can try to resolve this issue.
Memory full messages may occur if there are too many applications running at the same time or if there is not enough free space in the phone memory. Depending on the error message, the following actions can be taken:
"Memory Full: Close some applications and try again"
In this case there are too many applications active at the same time. The problem can be fixed by closing some of the applications:
Long press the Menu key to see the list of active applications.
Select the applications which are not needed and close them.
If this doesn't help, switch off and restart the phone.
"Memory Full: Delete or remove some data from C: Phone memory"
The phone notifies you if the phone memory or memory card memory is getting low. There can be different error messages shown this situation, e.g.:
"Memory Full: Delete or remove some data from C: Phone memory"
"Disk Full : Automatic retrieval of mailbox for exchange disabled"
To free phone memory, transfer some data to the memory card with the File mgr application (select Menu > Applications > File mgr.). Select or mark files to be moved, select Options >Organise > Move to folder and then the destination folder.
In order to free memory, you could also remove or move the following:
Messages from Inbox, Drafts and Sent folders in Messaging.
Retrieved e-mail messages from the phone memory.
Saved Web pages. Clear the web browser cache to free some memory (select Options > Clear privacy data > Cache).
Saved images, videos, or sound files.
Contact information.
Calendar notes.
Downloaded application packages.
If there are applications which are not needed any more, uninstall them (select Menu > Settings > Data mgr. > App.mgr. > Installed apps.).
Any other data that you no longer need
If possible, use the memory card instead of phone memory in the Camera application (selectOptions > Settings > Memory in use to define the memory where the images are stored). You can also use Nokia Suite to transfer images and video clips to your PC.
If you are deleting multiple items and any of the following notes are shown: Not enough memory to perform operation. Delete some data first or Memory low. Delete some data, try deleting items one by one (starting from the smallest item).
Or you can try this:
To release the phone memory and change the email store from the phone memory to the memory card, follow the steps below.
Select Menu > Messaging and Options > Settings > Other.
Select Memory in use> Memory card.
To question Copy all messages to the new message memory?, select Yes.
To question Save original messages?, select No if you want to release the phone memory or select Yes if you wish to keep the original messages in the phone memory.
Alternatively you can sync your phone with Nokia suite and clear the messages that way if it is not showing on your device. Full instructions on how to sync can be found on the follwing link:

If this doesnt help you can try doing a soft reset by inputting code *#7780#. This wont delete any data but rather reset your phone settings. If the device ask for a default code this is usually 12345.
There's a lot to try to resolve here so give it a go and let me know if any helps.

My iphone 3g has been working fine, until a few minutes ago when I got a No Sim message? anyone know what needs to be done?
I turned off and turned the phone back on, no result...Synched again, No result.
Not sure what else to do.I had that same problem last night. Phone was working perfectly fine and suddenly I got that error msg.
I fixed it.
Might've not been this, but this is what I did.
I removed the SIM Card and since these SIM Cards are peeled off a larger business-card-sized card, it still had some excess material at the bottom, from not peeling it accurately. Apparently, this caused the SIM Card to slip around in the Tray, and hence the error. I chipped that excess away with my teeth (or anything you like), and strongly pushed the tray back in, and it recognized it, and has been working ever since.

Was your iPhone hacked/jailbroken to be unlocked?
If so, installing an iOS update on an iPhone that was hacked to be unlocked or restoring such an iPhone with iTunes re-locks the iPhone to the carrier the iPhone was sold as carrier locked with.
What is the exact error message - the SIM card is not supported? -
Upgraded my ipad2 to os7 now get NO Sim message?
I keep having the No Sim message and connot use cellular data. Have been to the apple store several times, Got a new sim card worked for several days now still doesn't work. Anythin can I do to fix this? Not happy I have reset the ipad but cellular data does not work.
I called Apple Support and after going thru the trouble shooting steps they asked me to send it to their support center. I sent the devise with a friend to a nearby genius bar, and after confirming the case # and fault he was handed a new one and took the old. So of course I am very exited that I have my unit replaced, but I am not confident what caused the problem in the first place and would this reoccur? Was it the IOS5 update, did someone drop the unit in the few seconds it's out of my sight? Was it the smart cover magnet affecting some chip responsible for detecting the Sim? I don't know. I will keep monitoring this and other forums until I get a good answer. Until then, I will extra careful from I don't know what!!!!

Since I updated to ios 6.0.1 i have the invalid sim message
When I first got the iphone 5 the day it was sent out, I had a msg about an invalid sim car (Sprint) and they replaced the sim card and no problems until I upgraded to ios 6.0.1 yesterday, now the same msg again! Anyone else have this happen with upgrading to ios 6.0.1?

This is why I do NOT do updates when they first come out. I just updated to 6.0.1 yesterday (Nov. 14) on my Sprint iPhone 5 and shortly thereafter got the "Invalid SIM" message preventing me from making calls or having any data connection. As others experienced, I could restart the phone and it would go away, temporarily... but eventually return. Great... as I'm going on a 5 day west coast work trip Friday.
I called Sprint tech support and they wanted to take me through the typical b/u & restore process. I have not seen one person reporting that this permanently fixes anything. I said, thanks, but I can do that on my own time later if need be. I put more stock in others' experiences that a new SIM card was the only true fix.
Next called the Apple Store near me to make an appointment. The girl made several attempts to convince me to call Apple Care instead to deal with this issue. I told her I didn't get AC but she said everyone gets one free session within first 90 days of a new iPhone. I insisted on a Genius Bar tech appointment, which was made for this morning.
At the appointment the tech said he never personally has dealt with this problem. I told him what I had read about likely SIM card corruption caused by the 6.0.1 update process. He disappeared with my phone into the back room for a long time. I'm starting to think Wut T F? Then he finally emerges with a brand new Sprint SIM as he's busting it out of it's perforated plastic holding tabs. He said Apple acknowledges that this is the official fix but he had a hard time finding one for Sprint. Replaced the old with the new, turned the phone on and it has worked fine since, OS 6.0.1 still intact and no re-activation through Sprint needed. (Unless he did something I was unaware of regarding updating SIM info. to Sprint). I really don't think so, since I asked him, "Don't I have to reactivat the phone with Sprint because of the new SIM card." He answered, "Sprint's SIM card does nothing in that respect."
OK, then... but my iPhone 5 seems back to normal. -

carriers pay most of the phones price for the customer
but this come at the cost of the phone only being able to work
with the carrier this is called a sim lock
the only people who can remove a sim lock is the carrier which

Look, all CDMA iPhone 4S's are carrier locked...all...fact is, no CDMA iPhone 4S can be unlocked. While the sim slot can be unlocked, this must be authorized by the CDMA carrier the phone is locked to, & no CDMA carrier will authorize such unless you are a customer in good standing...not the case with you.
This phone is useless to you...to get the sim slot unlocked you would have had to sign up for service in the US first.
Return it for a refund.

What this message means is that you have more music in your itunes library than there is free space in your ipod.
I had this same issue at one time. This is what helped me put my music on the ipod. I used manually manage.

Thanks for your prompt reply. However, the sources you gave do not seem to apply exactly to my situation. I have attached some screenshots that show what the dialogue box looks like for a pdf download, and what my settings in the Apps panel of Options are. You will note in the first screenshot that I have checked the box to handle this file type automatically; however, the next time I try to download a file of that type, the same dialogue box appears looking exactly like the one shown, so checking the "automatic" option appears to do nothing. The files to be downloaded from my Gmail messages are not generic or altered file types - they are shown as pdf, doc, docx, etc. So while your intent was good, your post did not help. Thanks anyway.
