No sim since IOS 5.0.1 update

I just did the update over my wireless and it appeared to go fine, until it finished and told me the phone had no SIM installed. It will only allow SOS calls now. backed it up and am now restoring it.
I connected to iTunes and it shows that it is my phone, but that the phone number is "n/a".
I am synched and backed up. Now restoring, which seems to want to dowenload the entire 790MB of the update.
I hope this works, otherwise I am screwed.
Does anyone have any ideas that might help me?

I had this issue too. I did an OTA update.
I tried turning off my iPhone, removed and reinserted my SIM and turning it on again a few times without success. I also inserted my wife's SIM, it was OK. When I tried with mine again, it was not. I also tried going in and out of Airplane Mode too without success.
Afte a bit of trial and error, I finally got it to work.
What I did was:
1. Turn off WIFI.
2. Turn off my iPhone.
3. Removed and reinserted my SIM.
4. Turned on my iPhone. Almost immediately I saw the "3G" indicator and after a couple of seconds, my SIM worked!
5. Turned WIFI back on.
From my issue, it seems the iOS 5.0.1 update got "confused" with the network setup.

Since iOS 5.1.1 update has anyone else noticed a much greater battery consumption on all fronts? My phone used to rock steady all day and know is around 47% 12 noon to 1 pm with the same amount of usage.

Heres a support question... how the **** do I fix the dramatic battery drain problem that came about after installing 5.1.1? Suggestions for fixing problems on iTunes did not work.

IPhone 3GS no longer works with bluetooth since ios 4.3.2 update

Hi all. Since the ios 4.3.2 update my iPhone 3GS no longer works correctly with the bluetooth in my car (2006 Acura TL). I know it's not an issue with the car and the only thing that has changed is the update with the phone. Anybody else having this issue? I have unpaired, tried to re-pair, reset the network settings, reset all of the settings, and did a restore. I'm at a loss with what to do next.

Its becoming a problem of epic proportions...so many people are having the exact same problem...I have a Feb 2010 Toyota Land Cruiser Series 200 and since upgrading to OS 4 my USB function no longer works like it did before the upgrade.
My Apple has become a LEMON!!

Why is my itunes sayin it's found a ipod in recovery mode since ios 5.0.1 update

when iopen my itunes i says its found a ipod in recovery mode but theres no ipod connected up to the computer, the only device connected to my computer is my ifone 4s
but thats working fine and is not in recovery mode as i can see the home screen make and get incoming calls and texts and open my app/games etc.
even when i remove the ifone and close and reopen itunes without any apple device connected its shown its found a ipod in recovery mode, its only started down this since the ios 5.0.1 update, but both ipod i have are 64gb 4th gen one my sons and one is mine,
i check both ipod and none are in recovery mode and both and running fine there opening games and able to go online so i know its none of my ipods or ifone

I had a similar issue with my Ipad. I had to take it to Apple, they restored the system but after that my IPad did not sync. It was not until an hour ago I read on another forum someone suggesting disconnecting the Ipad abd turning it off, then connecting it to the PC (usb port) and then turning the Ipad on. Try it it may work for you. I tried apple support 3 times before with no luck! Good luck.

No Service since IOS 6.0.1 Update on Iphone 4S

Since me and my partner updated to iOS 6.0.1 we constantly have no service message appear but the signal doenst return unless you switch Airplane mode on then back off again and this needs to be done at least 3 times a day.
I wanted to restore my phone as i was having other issues with the previous ios but i couldnt restore without updating so the update wasnt really a choice as i knew there was an issue with O2 customers
Ive restored the phone 3 times, reset network settings numerous times, hard reset the phone, turned it off numerous times but nothing works
I am really annoyed with Apple because it seems as though they only care about the people with the latest and "greatest" technology rather than the slightly older ones like iphone 4 or 4S
Im disabled and now my phone is deemed useless as i get the "no service" in places where i normally have a full signal

I'm having the exact same problem, its the most frustrating thing ever. it just goes straight to call failed. then sometime i will lose everyting and it will go to sos only. even if i have 5 bars reception i still have the call failed and cant send recieve text or calls.

So, today i went to my apple store and they swapped over the iphone and i went home and switched it on and got it all up and running & found that it was just running ios 6.0.0 and was working great.......... until, i did the upgrade not thinking anything bad and the BAM! Back to square one, its horrible. It has to be software issue not hardware, so dont waste your time, like i did and go to the apple store. It is definately the latest upgrade of ios 6.0.1

Battery drain in ipad 2 since iOS 8.1.1 update

I recently updated my iPad 2 and iPhone 4s to the new iOS 8.1.1. Have noticed a significant reduction in battery life on my iPad ever since. I have turned off bluetooth, all notifications, reduced brightness. I've pretty much turned off all that I can to save my battery life. When I checked usage, the biggest usage factor is Safari at over 50%. The rest of the apps are marginal in usage. Went into Safari and unchecked a bunch of options. Any other suggestions? At this point, I'm regretting doing the update. I've also noticed lag on certain websites and dislike the new way Safari is presented. I use to be able to just x out of all screen. Now I have to click the double box and swipe left to get a blank screen. The favorites bar on the side is always there too. One last thing, my bar at the top minimizes when I'm on a web page and I have to click on it to get the option to go back, print,forward, etc.

OK, I've done the rounds on this one, whereby I'm just adding to the list of complaints so that (hopefully) the powers that be, or not, in my phones case, might listen.
Since updating my just over 12 month old 5s to 8.1.2, it has turned into a bag of spanners in respect of its battery life. Its literally gone from 24 or so hours between charges to less than 8 !!
I have tried shutting all the apps down and even had it sitting in full airplane mode, where i've left it alone with the screen off, yet its dropping around 1% every 3 to 4 minutes, blinding!! Checked battery usage in settings after 30 minutes, guess what standby 29 minutes usage 1 minute.
Also tried the full restore, but to no avail, still a bag of spanners!
(slight update here) Even took the SIM out with it in airplane mode and deleted all apps and a full reboot - same thing!
Does anyone remember the good old days of a fixed land line, where the phone had to be plugged into the wall before you could actually use it? lol
Nothing like a bit of retro ay, but some how I cant see this one catching on Mr Apple. Thanks

Since iOS 4.2.1 Update - Document viewer Apps do not work right!

Before I updated to iOS 4.2.1 Air Sharing (Document Viewer) was working (so were all my Document Viewers), but currently, they do not work correctly. I have checked about three others...all have the following problems:
Since I updated (to iOS 4.2.1), all the documents open up to FULL SCREEN mode (which it had never done before, since the very beginning of the AppStore). Full Screen mode means that it looks like a Word Document on the computer, with the margins showing. This is rediculous for the screen of an iPhone or iPod Touch. There is no need to see the margins. Also, the font size is so small that it makes it almost impossible for most people without a magnifying glass. The document used to open up to a "zoomed in" view of the text. This allows the person using the application to actually read the text. This also allowed scrolling up and down easily. Now, with the new Full Screen view, to get the text large enough to see, you have to double tap (or spread your fingers on the screen to scale it big enough) on the text to read it. Then, when you scroll up and down, it sometimes scrolls side to side or diagonally (into the white margins), making reading cumbersome.
The other problem with the new view is that the font sizes are all messed up. The normal font (whether 9 pt. to 16 pt.) looks the same. The italic font looks bigger than the normal font, though it is the same point size. It skews the page and alters what the original documents looks like.
I have contacted the developer of Air Sharing to complain, but he said the following:

Thank you for the test file. I do see what you're referring to. We use Apple's built-in Office viewer for Air Sharing. This means to display files like .docx ones, we use Apple's viewer. It's possible they changed their viewer in the most recent iOS update to cause this change. Because it's not our viewer we have no control over how it displays such files. Other apps using Apple's viewer will encounter the same issue. I wish there was more we could do on our end to help resolve this problem.

Ah, so that could be a good search term.
Things get a bit more weird though. I was looking through the commands in the drop down menu and saw under "Archive" this: "Put/Send the Apps you bought to this computer" (rough translateion in English) So I tried that out.
I could only do that by going to "Store" and (**** how to say that in English) "Allow" this computer to do that. This is weird as this is the same computer that I have always used for anything to do with the iPhone! I have now 2 computers that are allowed to sync, and it is one machine. Beats me!
At a certain point the transfer proces stopped again and again I was requested to "empower" this computer again, as out of the 65 apps now 21 were not allowed to be transfered! That did not work. It now keeps telling me that I have 2 computers allowed for transferring apps and these last 21 can not be put in the library.
I am a bit at my wits end!
But really thanks for trying to help out! It seems that 4.2.1 has some real problems when reading through the discussions!

Text Selection Hangs Since iOS 5.1.1 Update

I have an iPhone 4 32GB on the AT&T network.
Updated it to iOS 5.1.1 about two weeks ago.
Since the update multiple applications (Apple and 3rd Party) have been showing this behavior:
1) Click in a text entry or text area form field,
2) Begin typing text,
3) Touch anywhere in the field to bring up the monicle selection caret,
4) The monical selection caret is shown and I can move the monical/caret around the screen,
5) Un-touch the screen,
6) ERROR - The monicle and the selection caret don't respond to user touch input and the app/OS hang for anywhere from 5 to 15 seconds,
7) The standard "Select | Select All | ..." context pop-up window is shown, after that the app/system are responsive again.
Regarding the ERROR at step 6) above: Clicking Home does nothing, turning on/off with top-button does nothing, force shutdown responds only after the monicle/caret selector un-hangs.
Once this has happened in a given text field/text area, it doesn't happen again on a subsequent text selection touch event... UNLESS I sleep the device, wake the device on the same app/field and try to select again... then it hangs again.
To note, while it's hanging the loading-spinner is displayed in the title bar next to the AT&T 3G/Wifi Antenna icons, suggesting something in the background is doing a network search that's locking then entire foreground process.
I've attempted to:
1) hard reset the device,
2) restore from a backup of 5.1 (doesn't have the aforementioned problem) and reinstall the 5.1.1 update (has the problem)
3) swear at it and curse Steve Job's mock-turtleneck for allowing such a peice of **** bug to exist (even if it's not his fault ex post homine)
Any further help would be great... I may end up downgrading to 5.1 just to not have to deal with this perpetual headache.

I'm having the same issue. Phone started to degrade after update to 5.1.1 I have restarted, reset and restored from backup. I haven't tried to restore as new, as I'm not sure what the impact will be in my need to reset my corporate exchange e-mail, etc.
I see from many posts on other boards this is not isolated and is impacting many users. I'm using verizon as a the cell carrier.
My phone is warm and eating battery at a rate of 10% per half an hour in standby mode. No new apps or anything else of that nature.

Open a command window with Administrator privileges and type the following command:
netsh winsock reset
Then reboot your computer.

No response from touch screen since iOS 6.0.1 update

I updated my new iPhone 5 to iOS 6.0.1 the day that it came out, and since then - i have had 2 different incidents where the touch screen had no response. The first time was just when i was using different apps (not on a phone call) - and the 2nd time just happened to me not long ago where i was just trying to hang up from a phone call, and it wouldn't let me "End Call".
I was able to hit the home button and the phone responded to that, but then it wouldn't let me touch the screen to go back to this call that i was trying to end in the first place.
Is anyone else having a problem with the touch sensitivity of their iPhone since the update to iOS 6.0.1?

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

IPad Air since iOS 8: Apps not updating and downloading no longer possible. Fix?

This problem only really started in the past couple days. I can no longer update apps, cannot download books from the store in the books app and cannot download newspapers in my newsstand. Also, my Adobe reader for iPad open but shows a blank page for 15 seconds before closing and returning to my iPad home screen.
Previous to this, the first few days of iOS 8 did not give me problems, though I had not yet tested all of the above items but apps updated easily for first few days (until 22 sept). Is there a fix?

I read somewhere that you cannot downgrade to iOS7. I sure hope Apple is reading these because it is frustrating that I cannot get the books on their very own books store that I have paid for! More frustrating is not being able to download or update anything new.
I will point out that this is specific to iPad because my iPhone has no updating issues nor downloading issues (it is a new iPhone 6, so not sure if older models have problem).
I hope a full restore will not be necessary. The only saving grace to doing that is that I did a full backup right before upgrading to iOS8 so should have relatively minimal impact for me.....I think.

No 3G Signal Since iOS 4.0.1 update

Hi. Before I start, I would like to let you know that I am aware the new update will make the device display less signal than before - I have no issues with that whatsoever.
My issue now is that I have no 3G or Data coverage at all! I had full coverage prior to the update. My display now reads 5 bars, O2UK, and that's it, no E, O or 3G displayed.
Is anybody else experiencing this problem? If so, do you know of any remedies?
Oh and please don't reply with "its the actual coverage in your area - your phone was lying before" because the simple fact is that it worked an hour ago, and it doesn't now.
Edit: I had to fully restore the iPhone due to a failed update (which I understand is a common issue). Since then, I have reset network settings, switched in/out of airplane mode, and made sure both Cellular and 3G settings are enabled.

I have the same issue. Have tried many many things including using a custom APN profile. But nothing is bringing my 3G back to its former glory. 3G connectivity is spotty, and sometimes even as bad as searching in zones where there is always coverage.
I am mystified, and tired of not having a phone that works.

I updated my software to 5.0.1 on my iphone 4 this afternoon. Ever since, it's telling me I'm in Skopje, Macedonia when in actual fact I'm in Sydney, Australia. Therefore my time zone is incorrect and Maps insists I'm there. I also don't seem to have any internet connection unless connected through wifi.... Tried restarting and also did a restore but it didn't fix it.

You can't, you need to offload some of your Windows stuff, or possibly look into getting a remote hard drive to copy some of your content. Bottom line, if all you have is 500MB of free disk space then you need to free up some space or get more.

Many problems on IPad since iOS 8.1.3 update

SSince the update, my mail opens and either loads all messages again or just crashes. Most apps crash. Rebooting a lot. I tried to restore from backup and received an error saying that it could not restore because of an error. Any suggestions on how to fix this? It is almost unusable.

Tones not syncing since ios 8.1.1 update

Purchased a ringtone on iphone. When I connect iphone into iTunes tone doesn't sync with phone, it disappears.

Some people have reported success with these procedures. Your mileage my vary.
Re-boot ipad.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until a red slider appears, then drag the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears. page 128 iPad user manual.
force power down if the above give you trouble.
Hold down both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button. Ten seconds or more. Hold until the Apple logo appears.
