No skin on my video

Flash CS4 Mac.
I'm a real newbie, and I'm sure that I'm missing something
obvious, but:
I create a FLA file (Actionscript 3), I import video, select
"Load video with playback component", chose a skin, and the
component with the skin appears on the stage, but when I select
"test movie", "Publish preview" or when I publish, the movie plays
back without any skin at all... no controls. Hmmm.... What to do?

I solved my problem:
The video player was larger than my stage, so the bottom was
getting cut off. I just increased the dimensions of the stage!
Duoh!

  • Skin transparent - no video

I have followed the directions on the Apple site, and some others who have paraphrased it.
When I open the text file with the mov extension I see my skin and I can drag it around - but there is no video! I see my Desktop through the hole in the middle. And can click the Desktop through the hole.
When I open the first mov I made, the video with the jpeg skin added, it looks as expected with the video inside the skin.
Any ideas about what I'm doing wrong?
I am most confused by the Mask settings in the movie properties and whether I need to do anything with it. I am guessing no - since the transparent thing seems to be working.
    Anyone?!

Thanks Kirk. I thought you'd answer.
Just before I checked back here I tried making a solid black mask, and that worked. I made it the mask for both the window mask and the drag mask - and then I could drag by the video too. I don't have any controls at this point.
I don't understand why solid black works. I had tried a black/white mask and a white/black mask and one showed border-skin area with no video. The other showed video with no border-skin. Why does all black work??
The part I find confusing in the Apple directions is this:
Tip: If you want the video to play through transparent areas of the media skin, set the video track to the background (a higher number), then modify the Graphics Mode for your Skin track to be Transparent and set the transparent color (usually black or white). Your video track will show through this area.
I don't know if they mean the main video cutout or if they mean having video show through little contol holes or what. I didn't have to change the Graphics Mode to make it work or set anything to transparent. And the way they say "usually black or white" is very ambiguous and unhelpful.
You - on the other hand - are very helpful.

  • How do I use the skin for a video object in one of my slides?

I put an video object place holder in one of my question masters, and when I insert a video into the actual project slide, it will not play with a skin.  I can set it up to play automatically, but when I add a skin to it, the functions of the skin won't work.  Any suggestions?

    Hi DonTimo,
I've tried doing that, but in the said folder there are only default pictures. I can't find the images of any contacts in the app "Contacts" anywhere. The thread you refered me to and many others that are smilar to it, date back to about 2009-2010.
Really need this photo.  Any other pointers?

  • Can you add a skin to the video object?

In as3, I've created my own video object to play an flv file. The code starts out something like this:
    var myVideo:Video = new Video(320,240);
I would like to attach a .swf skin for it but cannot find any examples on how to do it. All examples are instructions for adding code to a instance of the FLVPlayback object.
My question is can you only attach skins to the FLVPlayback object?
    Thanks

To save time, I wanted to use the pre-built skins that are used for the FLV components. I guess to use those skins you need to use the FLV class and if you wanted create your own buttons you would use the generic Video object.

  • Controller skin for SWF video in dreamweaver CS3?

    Hi there,
I have inserted a SWF video into my website, however right
now it's playing automatically and i have no way of stopping and
pausing my video... how can I add a skin controller to my SWF file?
I know I can do it with FLVs, but I dunno how to do it in SWFs....
    THanks!

I have managed to fathom it out.

  • Merge Flash Player Skin with Flash Video for Single Flash File

My company uses a content management system for it's website and I am the administrator. The CMS does not require or use html code. I am a new to Flash, but I am able to produce some simple files. I have compiled a simple 2 minute video clip that I need to upload to my companies website. The Flash file requires a player skin which I was able to produce. I understand that when you output to Flash, two files are created. As I understand it, one file is for the skin and the other is for the movie along with the html code that links the two. Unfortunately, our content management system does not recognize the link between these two sets of files and I am unable to import them. I can import the flash movie clip without the player, but that does not suit my needs. I can import the player skin without the movie, but there would be no point. Is there a way to output both files into a single Flash file with the player skin embedded into the Flash movie? I have the full Adobe Master Suite CS4, is it possible another program could be used for that purpose or is this an impossibility? Any information you could provide would be appreciated...thanks...

  • Swf. file only shows skin and no video! Please Help!

I've created a flash video that tests great in flash, in its folder with its skin and flv. component and even in Dreamweaver test. But when I upload all of the files onto my server it will show only the empty player with the skin progress bar looking green hash-marked. Does anyone know what is wrong? For some reason it looks like it can't find the .flv.
I've the latest version of Flash and Dreamweaver and the .swf file works great until it is actually uploaded on my site. All the files are in their own folder, in my site folder.
Is there a proper way to put these 3 files on the site? I usually just pull the files into the folder on my computer and refresh and then upload. My other videos appear to work but this is a re-ocurring problem!
Thanks to anyone for their help!!!

The Flash will not likely be able to load the file from your harddrive if it is on the server... hopefully your browser would prevent any online file from being able to access files on your harddrive.
You will know if the file is dynamically loaded or not if you physically placed the flv contents into the Flash files (manual) or you just provide the name of the file for the Flash file to load (dynamic).

    Hi Tom
    Indeed there is!
Declare an Advanced Action that configures the volume. Then assign the action to the On Slide Enter event.

  • Using a custom video player (skin) for Event Videos?

    Hi
I'd like use something other than the 9 standard video skins that come with Captivate 6 (Halo, Clear and Corona). Is it possible to use a custom video player or at least a different skin for an Event video?  And, if so, does anyone know where I could find a collection of custom skins (free or otherwise)?
    Thanks
    Paul

Well sure enough, that WPF MediaKit indeed uses D3DImage for the WPF interop. In fact he does things very similar to me except mostly he seems to use DirectShow whereas I'm 100% Media Foundation. Maybe should rethink that... If only DirectShow had H264
support in Windows 8. Stupid licensing issues. Anyway thanks again for that link.

  • Other skins for flv videos?

I use Flash CS3 importing flv videos and using the skins that
comes with the app. Nice, but as the site's designs will hold
several boxes where the corners actually are square shaped, it's a
bit "off" when the skins available have rounded corners...
Does anyone know where I can get other skins? If possible at
    all?
    Cheers, and thanks for help

  • FLV Skin embedded in video?

Is there anyway place the skin inside of the actual swf that
contains the FLV component? I am making a player that just has a
pause/play button by customizing one of the skins but would rather
    not have it deployed separately.
Maybe someone has seen a tutorial on how to make a player
built directly on the time line with out using a skin at all?
    Thanks in advance!

You can just use component buttons and link them to the FLV
Playback component using actionscript. Drag the FLVPlayback
component to the stage and give it an instance name like vid. Then
drag FLV Playback Custom UI components (in the component window) to
the stage. Give them instance names as well.
Then this is the script you put on the frame:
    vid.playButton = ply;
    vid.pauseButton = pse;
    vid.stopButton = stp;
That assumes you gave the play button an instance name of
ply, the play/pause button the instance name pse, and the stop
    button the instance name stp.
EDIT : nice, you typed it faster then me ;) haha - sounds
    like good advice!

  • Embedded video skins

Embedding video in swf and placing in InDesign for export to
PDF. Don't see a way to include embedded skins with embedded video
to get a single swf to place in InDesign to ultimately get PDF
playback with the skin. Procedure or examples to do this?

    Hi Steve
I believe you would do this as follows.
    1. Click Project > Skin...
    2. In the Skin: drop down, scroll to the bottom of the list
    and choose "BMP Playbars".
This should result in a single file that contains the former
version of controls. However, you will also find that Captivate 2
will still output two .SWF files along with the HTML file. If you
upload both the HTML file and the .SWF file to your LMS, you will
need to amend the HTML file so it correctly references only the
base .SWF file. It seems that Captivate 2 will seemingly always
point at the playback control file in the HTML file. The playback
control file then loads up the main .SWF file. Also note that the
HTML file will also contain a differing height statement for the
movie. Presumably this is to account for the added playback
    control.
    Hopefully this helps... Rick

  • Video and skin in single swf file... sigh....

    Hi all,
This may be an obvious one to some of you but I have been
tearing my hair out for several days and cannot find detailed
information on what I am trying to do anywhere...
I have a requirment to convert several short DV video files
to SWF so I can publish on a web page. The finished products need
to be a single SWF files.
Importantly they also need to include a control skin.
I have been trying to use both Flash CS3 and Captivate 3 to
do this with no success. (I have found info on how to do it with
Captivate, i.e. remove borders etc, but that presents some other
problems which I won't go in to here as it's a different topic)
Is what I am trying to do possible inside Flash ? Surely it
is?! Can I import a DV video, add a control skin and publish it all
    as a single SWF ?
I believe there are shareware third party products that can
do this, but I really want to use Flash and I can't understand why
it appears to be so difficult. (unless I am missing something
    obvious...)
So if anyone coudl help that would be fantastic, even if
that's just pointing me in the direction of some reading material..
    Cheers.

    oconndav,
    > Is what I am trying to do possible inside Flash ? Surely

    It is. :)

You can, but be aware that video -- especially sizable video
    -- works
best when the FLV file is situated outside the SWF. I
    understand that your
project requirements dictate otherwise, which makes this a
    bit of a
challenge, but you can put everything into a single SWF. It
    just means
you'll be building your elements by hand and will control the
    video as if it
were a movie clip (that is, a MovieClip class instance)
    instead of an
FLVPlayback instance or Video instance in conjunction with
    NetConnection and
    NetStream instances.
    > I believe there are shareware third party products that
    can do
    > this, but I really want to use Flash and I can't

    something

Well, again, heavy Video files aren't really designed to
    play inside
SWFs. For whatever reasons Macromedia/Adobe chose, video is
    ideally
designed to be controlled as an external asset.
In your case, you won't be able to use the FLVPlayback
    component. You
won't even be able to use the older Media components or the
    component-less
Video object solution. You'll import your video asset to the
    Library, place
it inside a movie clip symbol (which will stretch to an
    incredible length),
then place your movie clip on the Stage and give it an
    instance name. Once
it has an instance name, you can refer to it with
    ActionScript. The
MovieClip class entry of the ActionScript 2.0 Language
    Reference (or 3.0, if
you're uasing AS3) will give you everything you need to know
    (and can do)
    with movie clips.
ActionScript will give you access to the total number of
    frames of that
clip, as well as the current frame. You can tell the playhead
    to go to any
of its frames, play, stop, etc. In this way, you can mimic
    many of the
capabilities of the FLVPlayback component -- though with less
    precision.
The "skin" of your video player will be determined by you
    ... by button
symbols for the buttons (or you could use movie clips), as
    well as other
graphic elements. It's going to be a totally
    built-from-scratch project,
and you'll have to program the buttons yourself. How would
    you rate your
    comfort level with ActionScript?

  • Video skin

    hi,
To play a video in flash using actionscript (which loads at
runtime), you drag a new video clip from the library to the stage.
Then you can create buttons to play, stop etc.
The problem is I wan to create professional buttons on the
video clip instead of my own sloppy efforts.
Can I use a pre-made skin for the video somehow in
actionscript?Like the one you use in FLVPlayback component.

    Thanks for the reply ggshow.
This doesn't seem to be working for me. I'm using CS3 and I
    get the following error:
Warning: 1090: Migration issue: The onRollOver event handler
is not triggered automatically by Flash Player at run time in
ActionScript 3.0. You must first register this handler for the
event using addEventListener ( 'mouseOver', callback_handler).
I tried adding an EventListener like it says with no luck.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks very much...

  • Flash video does not show up once uploaded. Help please.

OK I've spent several days searching online for an answer to this question and I'm at my wit's end.  Please help me out.  This is what is going on.
I'm using flash to design a basic website.  Within that website I want to place a .flv file.  Everything works fine in preview mode and test movie mode.  The problem comes when I puplish to the web.  I'm just using flash to publish which puts all the files in a folder.
IN previous attempts, once I load those files onto a server it does not play the .flv file.  The .sfw skin will show up but the general .sfw file for the project doesn't seem to be finding the .flv file.  And yes, I'm uploading the .flv file to the server.  Is there something wrong with the html code that it can't find the .flv file?  I can replicate this problem on my desktop by moving the .flv file out of it's project folder.  Once I do that and then click the .html file the page will load but it won't find the video file.  It's like it can only open that file if it's in the original project folder and the folder doesn't get moved.
I can't be the only who has experienced this.  Please help!

The effect you're having "only displaying the flvplayer skin but no video" is a clear sign that your swf can't find the flv.
One thing that you can do to ensure that everything is right is to first upload the .flv file to the desired location and then link your FLVPlayback to the url on the flash IDE / AS.
    2nd Option would be to:
save flv, fla and swf in the SAME folder (no subfolders or such)
upload flv and swf to your webserver while keeping them together in the same folder, that ensures that your files can find eachother.
