No smooth document scroll in Reader 11.0.03 in OSX 10.8.4?

Hi,
I was wondering if it is possible to smoothly scroll though a PDF document in Reader 11.0.03 running in OSX 10.8.3.
Virtually all applications (except Reader) can smoothly scroll through a page. What happens with Reader is that it scrolls line by line (sometimes half line), section by section or paragraph by paragraph instead of pixe by pixel. All this of course depending on document.
Needless to say that e.g. the same document scrolls "normally" with Preview, PDFPenPro, Skim, just to name a few PDF viewing applications.
Similar questions have been asked here but they were referring to the smooth page scroll which is not what I mean.
Has anyone any idea about this issue?

Yes this way also works much like print as image.
But I guess what I am trying to find out is there a way so the user will not have to do this work around?
Is this a known issue related with Adobe Reader or is this a once off issue?
Is there something needs to be done during the creation of the PDF?

When you say "smooth" do you mean you want to animate the scrollbars?

Smooth Horizontal scroll

Hey,
I'm making this website and I need to implement a smooth Jquery horizontal scroll. Can anyone help me?
My website contains 3 parts; home, maintoblue (middle-part), blue (page with actual content). Right now I've linked an object on the home page to the blue page. however, when you click on this object (which is a blank.gif) it goes to the "blue" page instantly, while I want it smoothly to scroll to the "blue"page, so that visitors will see the "maintoblue" page passing by.
My code is as follows, I need a smooth scroll from "home" to "blue"

However, I dont get it to work.. I have downloaded the scripts, added it to my code.. but there's no result. If I click on the image it goes to the blue page instantly, it doesn't scroll.. Do you think this is because I want it to scroll horizontally?

Outlook Public Folders- Some Documents Persistently Open Read-Only

We have been having this issue for a few months.
Previously, users could navigate to Public Folders and open Excel or Word documents, make changes, save and close without issue.
When this problem first started, users were getting files open as Read Only. We were unsure why this was happening and could not find a fix, so we put out an instructional document on how to: disable Protected view in Excel or Word, turn off attachment previewing
in Outlook and disable the preview pane. If users performed these steps, they could then operate without an issue.
Now it is occurring again, even with the above fixes in place. We tried setting up a Group Policy to make these settings and it didn't help.
My sysadmin had me block the following updates in WSUS: 2687567, 2965295 and 2956128. We thought this may be the cause but to no avail. On my work desktop and laptop it occurs with these updates not installed.
We can access the documents OK, without Read Only status using Outlook Web Access. We are using a mix of Windows 7 Professional and Enterprise. We are using Exchange 2008, Office 2010.

Based on my knowledge, since Outlook 2010, it seems to be by design.
The easiest way to open and modify the attachment in the message, is to "Edit" the message, then open the attachment, make changes in the attachment and save the attachment, then Save the Message.
You mentioned "Previously", was that a previous version of Outlook?

How do I open a secure document in Adobe reader using my iPhone 5

I Am trying to pay a bill using adobe reader. I understand how to open a document from my emails with the app, but once I open the document in Adobe reader it is still secured and will not let me enter in my account info to pay the bill. How can this be fix?

Adobe Reader mobile products (Reader for iOS, Reader for Android, etc.) do not support commenting or form filling with secured (hence, encrypted) PDF documents.
Please use the desktop version of Adobe Reader on your Windows or Mac computer to fill in the secured PDF form. Sorry for the inconvenience.

What is the mail app that you use on your iPhone. Apple Mail (the default iOS mail app) does not show the message like "save to disk".

thx but the only thing that happens when I open Adobe Reader is that a small icon appears in the bottom-line. There is no dialogue box where I can accept!

The following are the softwares which we have installed.
1. Adobe Reader - 7.07
2. Adobe Acrobat Professional - 7.0
3. Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.1
4. Adobe LiveCycle Forms 7.2.2
5. Adobe LiveCycle Form Manager 7.2.2
6. Adobe LiveCycle Workflow - 7.2.2
7. Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions 7.2.2
8. Adobe LiveCycle Policy Server 7.2
We have performed Turnkey installation on all the above mentioned softwares.
We are facing some issues in viewing the policy documents through Adobe Reader.
We have created a Policy through the Policy Server. Then using Adobe Acrobat Professional we added this policy to a document.
But when we try to view the policy added document through Adobe Reader, it is throwing the following error.
"You are attempting to connect to a policy server using an insecure protocol. The connection attempt has been cancelled. Please contact an administrator for assistance".
In one of the installation documents of LiveCycle products, it is given that we need to enable the SSL while running the Configuration Manager. But since we have done Turnkey installation the SSL enabling option did not appear in the installation wizard.
Can someone please let me know how to enable the SSL using Turnkey installation.

The guide Chris mentioned talks about setting up SSL, but you need to import the certificate into the "trusted root CA" store in Internet Options on every machine which will open the document.<br /><br />You probably have got the SSL set up correctly, but just to emphasise there should be absolutely no warnings what-so-ever in IE when you hit the https://hostname:8443 address -after- closing and reopening the browser, and it should show the Padlock symbol to indicate the SSL is on. In my experience this means that the first part of the CN must be the exact hostname which you will access the server to avoid the "cert doesn't belong to this host" error which will appear in addition to the "untrusted CA" error.<br /><br />And if you are using the server in production where clients may not have permission to add trusted root CA's then you will need to use a proper SSL certificate. This guide worked for me:<br /><br />http://blogs.adobe.com/livecycle/2006/10/configuring_jboss_325_with_a_r.html<br /><br />(p.s. I'd recommend NOT using any symbols in the keystore password, or you may have to change it to get it running with JBoss)<br /><br />______________________<br /><br />Once you are absolutely sure the SSL is spot on, this is the step which you may have missed:<br /><br />On the Policy Server administration panel, go to "Configuration" -> "Server Configuration", then update the base url. It should look like:<br /><br />https://<cn_on_ssl_cert>:8443<br /><br />Once you've updated that address, you will need to reapply any policies, since the server address is stored in the PDF document itself. Centering documents in Adobe Reader 8

I've scanned some odd size letters into Adobe Reader 8, and have been unable to find a way to make Adobe center the scanned pages onto an 8.5x11 sheet of paper. It always goes to the upper lefthand corner. This way I can't punch them to place in 3-ring binder. What to do???

I was just reading your note from the blog titled "Centering documents in Adobe Reader 8, because I am having the same problem in Reader 9. I just recently downloaded a new update from Adobe, and now I can't seem to get my pdf document to center.
I am using Nuance's PDF converter (Scansoft), and when I save my Word file as a pdf, even though the Word file is centered properly, the end result of the pdf conversion shows the pdf file aligned to the top right corner.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you ahead of time . . .

This issue occurs with most of the PDFs that I open up. I am using the latest version of adobe reader on my windows based machine and it is a general PDF. I saw a similar post online stating that if you look at the fonts used in the document and it doesn't say (Embedded) next to it, then Adobe Reader will try to pull the font(s) from your computer and if it doesn't find that font then it will replace it which makes it look funny.

LiveCycle forms use a very different approach to create a PDF form than Acrobat and that approach makes many features for processing PDFs non-functional.
You might want to ask this question in one of the LiveCycle product forums.

I need to digital sign a document using Acrobat Reader. Is it possibile?

I am an IT Manager for a little city in northern italy.
I have almost 50 clients with smart cards enabled for what concerns digital signage.
I use flawlessy the software of the firm who provides the smart card. (infocamere.it).
This uses sha256 crypt, no problems about it.
The problem I have is:
The final file is a "p7m" envelope.
I would prefer to use a "pdf" envelope. One only file.

You can sign a PDF using Adobe Reader 9 or X, but the document must be "Reader Extended" to enable this functionality, This can be done using ADEP\LiveCycle Reader Extensions (server product) or Acrobat Professional 9 (Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader) or Acrobat X Professional (File > Save As > Reader extended PDF)

No version of Adobe Reader can:
--| create PDF
--| manipulate PDF page content
--| export PDF page content
Adobe Reader XI does provide a "connection" to various Adobe hosted online subscription services (that are under "acrobat.com").
There is a subscription services can create PDF from supported file formats that are uploaded to the service.
This subscription service is "PDF Pack".
With an active (paid up) subscription to a service one can make use of the service.
