No software shipped with new MBA!?

Hi, I just recieved my new Macbook Air. There is no software (OSX/iLife) in the box (it is installed though).
Is there no software to be shipped with the MBA anymore? My dad does have a thumb that came with his slightly older MBA.
What if i need to reinstall?

The MBA I received at Christmas did not include any software on disc either, although it is all installed on the drive.  That's the new way Apple is distributing software these days.
As for reinstalls, the new MBA allows you to work with Lion Recovery, the new way to reinstall.

  • Version of OSX Shipping With New MacBooks?

Is 10.4.9 or 10.4.10 shipping with new MacBooks? Preferably, I'm looking for an answer from someone who has recently purchased a new MB.
    Thanks.

Apple rarely updates the build that is installed at the factory unless new hardware requires the update. The current MacBooks should be shipping with 10.4.9.

  • No software discs with new Macbook

I did not receive any software discs with my new MacBook. I understand I should have had 2 discs. How can I remedy this?

    Welcome to the discussions!
Apple provides restore disks with all Macs - new and refurbished. I bought a refurb and my packaging was different from yours, but I understand that they are hidden in the packaging. Double-check in the packing materials so be sure that the disks are not hidden in there.
If for some reason they were left out, by all means call Apple and they will take care of it.

  • IPhone 4s keep connecting then disconnecting with new MBA

    Hi,
New MBA i5/4g/128 arrived this afternoon. During few hours of setting all my stuff, everything works just fine.
But when I try to connect my iPhone 4s with a official cable, it keeps connecting then disconnecting(about 2 times per second) and won't stop.
Is there anyone met the same issue? please help. Thanks!

    Thanks for the reply
I've tried 2 cables at home. 1 is a offical cable and another one is a 3rd party cable, both of them didn't work, and both of them work perfectly with other PCs.
After read your reply, I decide to try another 3rd party cable at office, it worked.
No idea why, but maybe MBA choose cable more sensitively?
Anyway thanks a lot and have a nice day!

  • Software question with new computer

I have a new computer and would like to use Lightroom 3 and elements.  I will have to upgrade to elements 10 as I don't have elements software on the new computer and don't have it available.  Should I upgrade to elements 10 before I load Lightroom 3 or load Lightrroom 3 first?  Any comments would be appreciated.

    I'd install PSE first.

  • Display Software Required with New Mac/OS?

I just wondered whether the 30" display software that comes on CD with the screen (dated 2005) is required on a new 8 core MacPro with OS 10.4.9, or is the software support built-in to the system now?

Any 2005 software would be from before Apple started using Intel chips, so wouldn't be for the Mac Pro, anyway. Just use the software included in OSX.

  • Software Update on New MBA lists Remote Desktop Admin 2.2 but fails

Using my new MacBook Air running Lion, when I run Software Update, it comes up with one item, Remote Desktop Admin Update 2.2, which is old software.  I don't have any version of Remote Desktop Admin installed.  If I try to do the update, it fails.  Any idea what's causing this or how to resolve it?  Thanks!

Several places to look for crude that may fool ur mac into thinking it's installed outside of the /applications dir which I assume you checked already, right?
    in user/library/application support
    in system/library/preferences

  • Does any extra software come with new iMAC?

My other Macs all came with bundled software (Omni Outliner, Stuff it Expander, Backgammon, and bunch of other neat things). This new one has chess-and that's it! Seems there should be-at least-some free software. Do I actually have to PAY for a zip file expander? and little extras like backgammon? Just wondering if my computer is missing something or...is that's just the way they come now. Bare bones. No bells and whistles?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
    This is the list from the Apple website;
    Software
Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard (includes Time Machine, Quick Look, Spaces, Spotlight, Dashboard, Mail, iChat AV, Safari, Address Book, QuickTime, iCal, DVD Player, Xcode, Developer Tools)
iLife ’08 (includes iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, iWeb, GarageBand)
    iWork ’08 (30-day trial)
    Front Row
    Photo Booth
The basic Stuffit Expander is always free. Plus many folks use Unarchiver.
Apple Downloads has lots of stuff to download, much of it freeware.
My favorite card game is freeware; Solitare XL.

  • Week 23 MBP ships with new MLB?

I have a week 23 MBP 2Ghz Glossy, does it have the new MLB installed? I really dont want to wait on hold for ever just to find out that mine already has it.
    TIA
    -Tyler

    Then whew... I have a week 26!
The problem is: not all week 26 have the new boards I think they started using them somewhere in week 26. I, too, have a week 26 and I have the old board (and the whine).
An indicator on whether you have the new board or not is the following: if your MBP came with Mac OS 10.4.6, then you probably have the new version. Otherwise you definitely don't.
If your MBP doesn't whine, I'd not worry about it anyway

  • Software Issue with New Power Management Update

In this post I'll be talking about the Power Management update for Windows 8.1 Pro, version 1.67.09.00, released on 10/15/2014.
I installed this via System Update yesterday and, when shutting down my computer before going to classes that day, I noticed something odd. Even after Windows shut down, the display went black, and the hard disk indicator light (yes, please bring those indicator lights back to the Thinkpad line!) stopped flashing, the power indicator was still on. From there I deduced the system was still on in a "limbo" state. In fact, the keyboard light was still functional, and so was the mute button! I was right.
Later that day, I let my computer sit through this "limbo" state, and a horrible apparition, the Blue Screen of Death, appeared! It stated that there was a "Power Driver State Failure" and immediately proceeded to shut down my computer. I rebooted, used System Restore to undo the installation, and the issue was fixed.
In short, don't install this update if you have Windows 8.1 Pro and a Thinkpad X230 Tablet. It didn't work well for me. Lenovo, please double and triple check your update before an eager geek like myself proceeds to install it.

  • How To Re-install Logic 9 On New MBA?

I am passing on my old MBP to my father and therefore want to re-install software on my new MBA when it arrives. However, Logic 9 is no longer available on the App Store only Logic X.
Clicking on Purchases under the Appstore shows Logic 9  on my current MBP but the link no longer works.  Will it show an INSTALL option on the new MBA when it arrives and is configured so I can re-install Logic 9 or will I be forced into an upgrade I cannot justify right now?
    Thanks

Just ordered a new 17-inch Powerbook, and I plan to run the Migration Assistant when it arrives, to get the data from my old iBook to the new PB. My question is about the requisite firewire cable. Does a firewire cable ship with new PBs? Or should I go down to the Apple Store and buy one before it gets here? Thanks.

You'll need to go and buy a cable.
    From the Store page:
    In the box

  • What is krb5kdc, why did it  interfere after using or sync'ing new MBA

what is krb5kdc, why did it interfere after using or sync'ing new MBA ???
It showed up in console and other logs and activity monitor after sync'ing others with new MBA late 2010.
Caused keychain problems and connection problems to my well-used secure wifi network and other processes.
Never happened before the New MBA late 2010, now causing problems with other computers synched via MobileMe after initial sync with new MBA

  • I just purchased a MacBook Pro from my college, it shipped with Lion; is there anyway I can update the software to Moutain Lion without having to pay $20 since it is brand new?

It is "last years model" and it came shipped with Mac OS X 10.7.5. I was just wondering if I could update for free since it is brand new mac?

Supposedly if you purchase 10.8 and check out, if the machine is one on the list the account is not charged.
I can't confirm this, but that's what one person reported back as what occured.

  • Are new Macs shipping with Mountain Lion? Everything on the website suggests yes, but CS told me no and I had to upgrade my brand new MacBook Air manually.

Does "Included Software" not mean "this is the software you will receive when you buy this Mac"?

    Ahh OK.
Since Mountain Lion is so new, there may be a some units still in the supply chain that are still shipping with Lion.
Are you near an Apple Store?  If you purchase there you'll be more certain about what you're getting.
Or if you order from the online store but do it by telephone (800-692-7753) you can express your concern about getting Mountain Lion.
