No Songs displayed but Ipod still full!?!?!?!

Hi
I've a 5G 30gb ipod. It was incorrectly disconnected as itunes crashed. On reconnecting, the ipod displays none of the music that has been added yet still indicates that there is only 6gb of space left on the ipod. This suggests that the music has not been erased, but for some reason it is not being displayed
Any information on whether this is recoverable?
Cheers

It would appear that the iPod hard drive has become corrupt and unreadable. This doesn't mean that the songs are not on your iPod, hence the fact that the iPod reports used space and iTunes may show them.
You should restore the iPod and then reload the songs from iTunes.

What country are you in ? The price for repair (i.e. replacement) for the iPad 3 and 4 appears to be around the €300 mark
If you select your country at the top of this page, then select the 'Warranty & Service Pricing' section on the left of the screen, and then 'My iPad is not eligible for warranty service' section on the right, you should be able to see the price in your country.

  • Song displays in iPod but not in iTunes...

I want to delete a song from my iPod, here's the problem: the song shows up in my iPod but will not display when connected to iTunes. I've checked under Artist, Album, etc. Not a hard search, just for some reason it won't display..unless, I make the song On-The-Go from the iPod. Once I connect my iPod to my PC the song is there..but only in the On-The-Go list, not in the iPod music folder.
    Any ideas?

I too have this problem and it only seems to have started happening since the most recent iTunes updates. Podcasts are no longer listed under podcasts on my iPod and they appear under music and podcast playlists. There is no longer any indication of which podcast have and have not been played. I have done all the 5 R's. Installed older versions of iTunes 7 with no solution. I have also tried installing older versions of iTunes but they will not work (with Vista). Let me know if you find a solution.

  • 60 gb Ipod wiped itself (but is still full) ......

    Hey
I've a 60gb video ipod which decided to pretend there's nothing on it even though the memory is still full. Now this has happened before on my 20gb and I used 'longfingers ipodfolder' to extract all the music, reset my ipod and then reload all the music back onto it! Worked like a dream.
My problem now is the videos which I had stored on my ipod. Is there a way of getting those back? Very grateful for any help as I had alot of videos and of course, I've no backup!

You may have some success with this. Not guaranteed though.

  • No Display, but Backlight Still Working on iPad

One of the schools I teach with iPads at has an iPad 2 that has no display, but you can see the backlight still firing.
Anything I can try before taking to the Apple Store?
    Thanks in advance!

Beyond the restore suggested by Demo have you tried to give it a reset? Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. If you see the silver apple it's rebooting.
The only other way to look for signs of life - to find out if the whole device is malfunctioning or just the screen, is to hook it up to a computer. Does the computer see it and interact with it or is there no response?
I had my ipad 2 inexplicably go 'dark' on me once. THe screen would not turn on, but then when I hooked it up to the computer the laptop saw it and synced. Then I tried a reset and it came back.  So it may be a glitch, or it may be something bigger, such as hardware malfunction.
If the computer doesn't see it and if you can't reset it back then it may be time to take it to the apple store and see what they recommend.

  • Ipod won't display but music still plays and i can move around in menu...

My Ipod mini won't display anything on the screen even after I reset it, I even hear the click type sound come from the headphones when its turned on. Right now I'm listening to music and the screen isn't showing anything is my screen broke???If it is what do I do???

Open the iPod Software Updater application. It can be found by clicking on the Start menu, pointing to All Programs (Windows XP) or Programs (Windows 2000), and then point to iPod.
It says that but in the computer I don't have an Ipod thingy in my programs???

  • Computer crashed, Ipod still full, need to resync without losing music.

Hey, My computer crashed recently, and i need to resync my ipod with my new itunes without erasing everything, heres the thing though, i've checked other topics about it but i cant get my ipod up on the source list because i get nothing when pressin shift+control, and when i let go, i get the message that my ipod has been synced with another itunes library please erase and resync :S

technically your ipod should still be usable with the mac. You can put the ipod into whats called manual mode. This way the ipod will retain the music and you can use the ipod with your mac. You just wouldn't be able to use the auto sync feature. go to this site http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61148 that will tell you how to select that option. As far as getting music that is not purchased from itunes from the ipod to the computer i am not an expert at that so i really dont have any suggestions other than i know it can be done. If you could find a good transfer program im sure it would be simple enough to move the music onto the mac then restore the ipod and load the songs back up.

  • Changed TV out to off but ipod still only plays audio and no video

Just recently my ipod decided not to play video. All the videos in the video folders are gone and now appear in the music folder. Even the video podcasts no longer appear in the video podcast folder. I have changed the TV to out to off and still it continues to do the same thing. I am not sure what happened, I don't believe I changed any settings or anything. I would hate to reset the ipod and lose everything. Need help, thanks.

It plays fine on my other pc, but I only get audio and no video when I open it on this pc. It shows up like static lines on a tv that has bad reception.
Open your QuickTime control panel (either via the Control panels, or by going "Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences" in the Quicktime Player). In the Advanced tab, uncheck Enable Direct3D video acceleration:
... and click OK. Quit and restart the QuickTime Player prior to checking to see if the settings change has had any effect.

  • All songs erased from iPod, still located on i Tunes

I recently deleted some songs from my iTunes. I then deleted the playlist "iPod selection" where songs that went on my iPod were located. I can't seem to get the songs currently on my iTunes to download onto the iPod. Tried to follow the directions on the support page but cannot locate the "Summary" tab. How can I manually put the songs from my iTunes back onto the iPod.

*Tried to follow the directions on the support page but cannot locate the "Summary" tab*
Connect your iPod to your computer. It should be appearing in the source pane which is the long pane on the left of the iTunes window where you see the icons for Movies, Music, Playlists etc. When you connect your iPod it should appear under the heading "Devices". Devices is only visible when an external source such as your iPod or a CD is mounted. Click on the iPod icon to highlight it, the will bring up the preference tabs in the main pane to the right, Summary is the very first tab.
*I then deleted the playlist "iPod selection" where songs that went on my iPod were located.*
You get this problem when the option 'Sync Music - Selected playlists' is being used to sync your iPod and then the playlist it has been updating from is deleted. Most people use this setting when the iPod is smaller than the iTunes library. If your library is larger than the capacity of your iPod, iTunes by default makes a new playlist called something along the lines of "Owner's iPod". If you for any reason delete it, you will not be able to sync your iPod.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -iPod to make it the first playlist in Sources. You can make it a smart playlist that picks the songs for you or just a normal one and drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Nano. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
To make a random playlist go to File>New Smart Playlist.
    Uncheck "Match the following rule"
Check "Limit to" put "3700" in the number box, choose "MB" from the first list box, choose "Random" from the next list box. Check "Live Updating"
When you want to change the selection in the smart playlist just delete everything in it and it will add a new selection. When you want to change the normal playlist just delete out what you don't want and drag in a new selection.

one of the problems may be that the original files may have been moved.
before you do anything, open itunes, then click on the ipod icon on the left side of the screen. there should be 4 check boxes. make sure the "manually manage music" check box is filled in
for one thing, try finding the folder where all of your music is stored.
then, click and drag the music into itunes, or onto your ipod.
