No songs going on or coming off shuffle

Okay. I've had it.
I have gotten the new updates for Itunes and Ipod and everything else this site as asked me to get, and I'm STILL having this problem. I cannot take songs off my shuffle or put them on my shuffle. Even when I delete the songs, they disappear from the Ipod shuffle window showing what songs there are on the ipod, but the icon at the very bottom of the screen showing how much space is on the ipod taken up by songs and is available for new ones DOES. NOT. CHANGE.
It turns out that the Ipod software was out of date so I updated it to the one from 3-23- NOTHING.
I updated Itunes itself thinking it a problem with the program. NOTHING.
I am very much ready to simply find another mp3 player, but this one was a gift fom a friend and is very precious to me. Any ideas before I REALLY lose my temper?

Sorry to pile on to your thread...but I have a similar question.
I have a shuffle and and mini...trying to run on the same I tunes Library (I assume I can do that) anyway...I created a seperate playlist for teh shuffle and tried to autofill the shuffle from that playlist...but nothing goes on the shuffle. Even if I try to autofill from the the library, I get nothing on there???
The mini works fine - but I can't get songs on the shuffle???
Help before I flush the thing down the toilet

My mac pro is running 10.5.8 and am using itunes 10.4. I can't drag and drop "music" to "playlist" but can right click and get the option to "add to playlist." No such option for moving song within playlist, only the up and down arrow which moves song from top to bottom list, so if it is #4 from top it will move to #4 from bottom. Stupid I know. I spent over an hour with Apple support, reinstalled itunes, restarted and rebooted computer. Networked with my laptop which is running 10.6.8 and itunes 10.4 and it can drag and drop. The final Apple support solution was to reinstall my operating system. I would prefer not to. Any other ideas?

After looking at other people's posts, I think it's official: there is a bug. Itunes support said I should not have lost the drag/drop tool and I haven't on the laptop that is running itunes 10.4 and operating system 10.6.8. I chatted with someboby who lost both his drag/drop and side scroll and what we have in common is a wacom tablet for a mouse. My laptop is a wireless mouse. I reinstalled whatever updated driver that wacom has out there, shut the system down for night, hoping for magic, but alas none to be had. So if I want to change song order, I network the laptop and desktop, share the screen on the laptop, drag and drop to my heart's content and curse Apple for making me work this hard to find the tool that was once at my fingertips. Apple also let me know that if I want to share songs in household that the hundreds on songs that were purchased for .99 need to be repurchased for another .30. Maybe Apple is holding my drag/drop tool captive til I pay up the money or Maybe the next update will fix the problem, I for one give up for now.

When we purchase from iTunes the balance is not coming off of the gift cards. We have family sharing on but when my kids purchase songs they are credited to our credit card and not the gift card that is already in their account. What's wrong?

If a restore of the Nano in iTunes to factory settings does not resolve the issue, it's likely hardware related, meaning you should take or send your iPod in for service.

I didn't have this problem before. I am listening via the speakers of my stereo. I have done that before but never had a problem like this before.

Thought it had worked but soon found out it had not.
after further days of trying finally, solved it for me Yesterday.
turned off notifications when locked, and bingo, wow.
i have not turned off iCloud but location services are also off.
best thing to do I found was keep checking your usage, settings, general, usage, and flip down to bottom, if the standby and usage are similar there is a problem, if there is a big difference then all is ok. Just keep turning things off and on until the difference is very apparent.
something on my phone was keeping the phone alive even when turned off, and I think this was the phone repeatedly trying to update continually.
to me this is definitely down to the iOS, my wife has exactly same phone and iOS but hers doesn't have any problem and the battery lasts for days.
the guy at the Genius Bar told me to restore the phone via iTunes, not iCloud. This is because iCloud remembers the exact info from your phone and simply reinstates it when you restore, and this includes the iOS too.
when I get home from holidays that's what I'll do, or wait for iOS 8 in few weeks. But I'm so pleased I finally made it work, I was beginning to think ditch the phone and buy Samsung.

Apple logo coming off in 2Gen Shuffle

I have noticed the Apple logo on the back of my 2nd Gen. Shuffle is slowly coming off. The paint is a lil smudged.
I take very good care of it, so I dont understand why this happened. In any case, I thought Apple etched the logos in the back of iPods with laser, but I guess this is not the case with the Shuffle or even Nanos, since they are the cheapest of the iPod line-up.

It's not etched but painted on. Mine got smudged while
in my pocket with some dollar coins.

It's not worth the effort. Especially since UNDER the logo is an area of aluminun that isn't anodized like the rest of the shufle, sort of like inverse engraving.

I have tow itunes libraries. Music from one library has merged with the other and I can not delete the songs. They keep coming back.

I have two ipod touch libraries under my account. One for my daughter and one for me. I bought my daughter an Iphone and then opened her ipod touch libraryon the computer (Windows Vista). I plugged in her iphone so that she can have the stuff from her ipod touch on her new phone. Somehow her library has partially merged with my library. My ipod touch now has some of HER games and music on it. I went into my library and deleted these games and songs, but they keep coming back. How do I get rid of these once and for all. I don't want to be shuffling AC/DC, Rob Zombie, and then get Justin Bieber all of a sudden while sitting at a red light in traffic.

The shuffle setting in the main menu will shuffle through the entire library as you have found out.
You need to go to settings>shuffle this will toggle through off/song/album. Once you have set this it will stay the same until you change the setting.
Now when you start playing a song in a playlist the iPod will shuffle through that playlist (or if you select your song through artist then it will shuffle through all the songs for that artist etc)

There's an article that Apple has acknowledged this issue. They recommend turning off imessages, reset all settings and then reactivate imessages.
If that doesn't work, you may just have to wait until they release an update, which should be pretty soon.

Turning Off Shuffle in Itunes 11

Only 6 songs (out of 200) played when shuffling a playlist!

I have a playlist consisting of over 200 'songs' (itunes/ipod think they're songs but they're actually language lessons). All songs are listed and if I play one, the playlist contains all items. However as soon as I press 'shuffle', the playlist goes from 200 songs to 6 (and it's always the same 6 tracks)!
Any idea what's happening here? I did upgrade to 3.0 and I'm guessing that has something to do with it as I've had lots and lots of problems with the music app since upgrading.

I always go with the obvious first: maybe most are marked as "Skip when shuffling." In iTunes, select one of the songs that is not played during Shuffle, and Control-click on Get info and click the Options tab. If "Skip when shuffling" is selected, this is your problem. You can escape from that, select all the songs in the playlist, Click on Get info and Options and unmark "Skip when shuffling." This will change all of them.
You'll need to sync.

Figured it out - like repeat. From album artwork, slide to more options where it will show the repeat genius and shuffle icons. Tap the shuffle icon and it will turn from blue to grey - on/off.

Man i am sick and tired of this. NOne of these scratches are coming off. Iused icleaner which i wasted 35 dollars on and brasso which i found stored in our closet, thank god i didnt need to spend money for that. I may as well give up on this ipod, the scratches will get to me and i dont know what to do. There is this small dot on the plastic that looks like a scratch but isnt, so i hope to see if thats something the apple guys can do. Man worst birthday present somebody could ever get

I don't think there is anything out there that's going to get better results than what you've tried. Have you looked at any cases? My nano had a few scratches on it, but since buying a case, I have barely noticed.
