No songs in library

I have over 900 songs on my i-pod which I would like to transfer to my i-phone. Problem is, these songs were downloaded from Limewire, and I deleted them from my library without knowing that they needed to be there.
Is there any way of putting the songs back into my library so I can transfer them?

Sorry. I know what you mean about me being difficult because this is so annoying for me to deal with
Apparently, part of the issue is the fact that iTunes automatically deletes the most recent database files ("Library Extras", "Library Genius"). These files wind up in my recycle bin every time I exit iTunes but are apparently recreated because when I attempt to restore the item, the Windows message tells me that the folder already contains the file. I can't replace it according to Windows because: "CZannot move Dc66: A file with the name you specified already exists."

  • Itunes on Windows plays one song from library and stops

I am a new ipod owner and new to itunes. Loaded many CD's, videos and audiobooks without difficulty into itunes 6.0.4.2. Library of songs is extensive but trying to play songs from library results in itunes playing ONLY one selected song. I must re-select another song in order to play another. It will not continue to play the songs in the library. I have re-installed itunes and that did not correct the problem. Also tried selecting multiple songs and still itunes only plays the 1st song of the list. Obviously I've done something wrong or have not done something that is required. I've check all I know and have also not found this problem in the discussion groups. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

This'll happen when all of the checkboxes are unchecked. iTunes will only play unchecked songs if they are directly clicked.
To check all songs, ctrl+check one.

  • Getting error message when trying to play songs from library saying original file could not be found

when trying to play songs from library, getting message saying original file could not be found .. my full library all says the same .. can anyone help ?

    Hello Ceeclass,
I suggest this article named iTunes: Finding lost media and downloads found here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1408.
It should help you locate the media that is not playing in the iTunes library.
    Take care,

  • Open song in library...Can't locate original file????

Open song in library........... Won't play  pop-up say 'Cant locate original file'??

Also it keeps promping for 'Permission' to play this file.

  • Here's the exact scenario with it: 1) Ipod connected successfully to iTunes. 2) Drag song from Library(in AAC format) to My Ipod. 3) Song plays successfully in iTunes. BTW: This is one of the songs from my cd. Not bought. 4) Eject Ipod. 5) Find song in

Here's the exact scenario with it:
    1) Ipod connected successfully to iTunes.
    2) Drag song from Library(in AAC format) to My Ipod.
    3) Song plays successfully in iTunes.
BTW: This is one of the songs from my cd. Not bought.
    4) Eject Ipod.
    5) Find song in Ipod and press play.
    6) Display for song and time appear.
    7) About 1/3 of a second of the song plays, then it cuts out and restarts itself. (boots me back to apple logo)

Nope - and it was set to not look for them.
The final clue came when I tried hooking the drive directly to the computer, instead of to the airdisk. iTunes still hung. Then I disconnected the drive and tried to run it, and iTunes came up right away - but with an ! next to each song. Clearly it was trying to find/touch every file in the library on first startup.
I didn't try plugging in the drive and leaving the hanging iTunes running for more than a few minutes, so it's possible that it would have recovered and launched. But after removing the XML file, restoring the library to my pre-7.7 version, I could hear it accessing the directly attached drive (and see it in disk activity in the monitor) for a few minutes (less than I'd left the hanging one trying), before it came up.
    Conclusion:
    1) 7.7 is definitely trying to touch/see all the files in the library on first launch (proved by the ! when they are missing).
    2) Disconnecting/interrupting the touch/see MAY have corrupted something (can't prove it).
    3) Since touching 10,000 files takes a LONG time even at 802.11n speeds (let alone b or g), it's worth the hassle to plug the drive in directly for the first time.
    4) Patience is a virtue

  • Can't copy a song from library into playlist. Screen message says "song can't be found." I know it's there, how do I access it?.

Can't copy a song from library into playlist. Screen message says "song can't be found." I know it's there, how do I access it?.

I fixed this issue (with help from tech support) and it involved several things.
After adding a song to iTunes, right-click on the song in iTunes and select "Update iTunes Match."
OR go to the iTunes menu-->Store-->Update iTunes Match.
Maybe that's the reason, it just hadn't updated to the cloud.
OR maybe it's not a high-enough bitrate file.   This happens to me because most of my tunes are home-recorded.
Sometimes converting to .mp3 or Create AAC version might work. (You do this with a right-click in iTunes, and then you will want to remove the original file from iTunes.)
There is an iTunes Preferences setting, under General Preferences called Import Settings.  Try setting it to AAC Encoder and iTunes Plus.   That (I think) causes imports to be slightly better quality.
Good luck!  The tech support person at Apple is requesting that a knowlege-base article be written about this.

  • Unable to sync songs from library onto ipod

Still vague.  Does the iPod appear in iTunes when you connect the iPod to your PC via the USB sync cable that it came with?

  • Cannot copy songs from library to ipod - says need to run updater but ipod

Cannot copy songs from library to ipod- says the software is too old and updater needs to be rund. However, the updater has been run and says the ipod is up to date. I have already run the restore so the ipod is empty.

The songs are "greyed out" because you have the iPod set to transfer songs automatically. That is also why the padlock icon appears at the bottom of iTunes next to the space used/available.
So, transfer of any songs added (or removal of any songs deleted from iTunes) should take place automatically every time you connect the iPod to iTunes.

  • Can't add song to library

I have an mp3 song in my music library on the PC, all the songs in the folder are in the Itunes list but one. I cannot get that song to
appear in the itunes library list so I can get it on the ipod.  I've tried adding to the library, dragging and dropping it into the library..
I get NO error message and nothing is working.  I cannot get this one song to appear in the libarby.
How do I get the song into my ipod
Please, I hope someone can help
    thank you

Never mind. Mere minutes after I posted this, the album suddenly showed up in the library, about a half hour after I "added" it. Weird.

  • ITunes 11 adding songs to Library which don't show up but can be found by Searching - but can't be player

    Hello,
I got a little problem here...
My iTunes 11 won't show the titles of a new album i tried to import!
I imported them the normal way, after this i recognized there was a problem, i had the album two times. I tried to fix it by changing the album name on every track again... It didn' work so I removed the tracks from my Library... then I wanted to reimport them, but... they just didn't come up...
I looked for them and found them in my Media folder. I deleted them there again and tried to import again... Nothing... they just won't appear in iTunes but are always present in the Media folder!
I can also search for the band in iTunes and can find it, but if i press play (also if the songs can be found in the Media folder) it won't do that... it just doesn't show them, i can't remove them from my Library and can't play them!
Does anyone have a solution for a problem like this?
Sorry If my english is bad at the moment, but i'm very tired and the day wasn't funny at all...

    Hi Air Flute
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions
    Go to this FAQ http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=122021
Repair Permissions as it says then follow a link to one of the Utilities to run the Cron Scripts (I use MacJanitor as it is free).

  • Missing purchased songs in Library

    Hi there,
after i purchase an album, i only can see this in my purchased songs, but i cant find it in my library/mediathek. There is no entry.
    Can anyone help me ?
    Greetinx
    M.

The "purchased" playlist is automatically generated only when purchases are made on any particular computer and those purchases are automatically added to it. It is not a Smart Playlist that automatically picks up old purchases if you transfer the library to a new computer. You can easily drag-n-drop anything you want into the playlist, though.
