No sound 875p-fis2r

I have been trying to get the sound system to work on my board, but it is driving me crazy. I keep uninstalling the c-media AC97 Audio device and reinstalling it but it keeps telling me:
Severe: Audio cannot start (code 10)  ;(
I used 2 different audio3d.dll that I found on my system, the latest one from the adich52 driver file found on this site.
But still no audio.
Am I missing something?
FYB
EDIT : Never Mind - I got it to work -
Tonight thought : If you underclock your brain, your system will feel faster

What is your AGP/PCI clock at this level of overclocking?
Have you tried bringing it down in the BIOS setup?
You could try ClockGen from http://www.cpuid.com/clockgen.php
Get this version for your Neo-FIS2R
http://www.cpuid.com/download/CG-ICS952607.zip
and use GetValues.
Click on the SetAGP checkbox and adjust the slider down for a 66/33MHz bus clock.
Click on SetValues to apply the change
If it works out OK, you may want to save the configuration and create a shortcut which you could load via Startup.

  • 875p FIS2R Memory Question

I just bought the 875P FIS2R board, but haven't powered it up yet since I still haven't received the memory. I also got the P4 2.4 GHz 800 FSB CPU. The MSI web site directed me the the Kingston memory site that recommeneded the KVR400 series DDR memory with a CAS latency of 3, so that's what I bought. I noticed in the manual that the only settings for CL are 2, 2.5, and auto detect from the stick's NVM. My question is, will I be able to use this memory running with a FSB of 800 and a CL of 3? Will auto-detect actually adjust the CL to 3, or are the only options 2 or 2.5? I know I will take a performance hit, but I'm not concerned about that right now.

    Djfuzz,
CAS Latency of 3 is settable in Manual Timings when Perfomance Mode is set to Slow (or via your obscure method!!!), but if you then boot Windows and check timings (with something like CPU-Z) you will see it is actually 2.5!!!!!
    dRfELL,
Let's bloody well hope they fix it in a future BIOS release, 'cos my memory is rated at 500 MHz and cost over £500 ($800) and I can't even use it past 460 MHz because of this!!!
But in reality, we're already on BIOS rev. 1.9 and from what I can gather, it's been a known problem for quite some time - so don't hold your breath!!!

  • Attention all Neo 875P FIS2R users!...Your opinion is needed!...

Hi...I recently purchased the Neo 875P FIS2R after reading some fantastic reviews on it. However, I was browsing the AnandTech forum last night and most of the replies in the topic were extremely negative towards the board and MSI...People sending them back etc. I have not built my new system yet with the Neo FIS2R so I was wondering what other people's opinions of this board are, how they are finding it's performance, stability etc before I build.
All input will be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks from Colin.
P.S.- Overclocking for me is NOT a priority...stability I feel is most important to me.

If you are going to say something like this you should post a link to where it is. I have never seen MSI make any statements about cutting PAT off. If this is your guess say so, but don't quote it as fact unless you can prove it is true.
See this for someone else's guess:
"As far as I know, all i875 motherboards disable PAT after 210MHz.
It may be part of the Intel licensing agreement."
I didn't know. That is what I was I read on here.
I didn't know that all the mobos did. It is odd then because at 225FSB on my abit board, Sisoft Sandra and CPU-Z both report that PAT is still on. The same was not said with my MSI board. After 218 PAT was disabled and a took a loss in mem scores.
But don't get me wrong I recommend the MSI board to anyone except the extreme overclocker.
Sorry if I mislead you guys.

  • Unclocked NEO-875P FIS2R reliability

First of all let me say hellow to the boards, Ive alwayse been a fan of MSI but from what I've read so far about the CORE-CENTER and BIOS problems i plan on leaving my system untouched till i hear better...
CLIFFNOTES-How is the reliability and performance of an unclocked NEO-875P FIS2R????

I'm running un-oc'd too, and I haven't had any problems.  Smooth sailing with Bios 1.2.  Was smooth before I flashed to 1.2, too.  I've resisted flashing to 1.3 or 1.4, even though I'm tempted, because everything runs fine as is.  Things aren't perfect (the very very very occasional crash occurs, and things you wouldn't expect to be wonky sometimes are, such as occasional DVD-ROM drive problems, speaker problems, network problems, or vidcard problems, butI don't think that these are on account of the mobo).  Really, though, everything pretty much works as expected, looks reasonable in SiSoft Sandra (in terms of performance), and is more stable than my previous Win 98 SE/ASUS A7V installation.  Only unfixable problem I've had is the software that MSI provided w/ the board is all deadly.  It doesn't work at all.  The utilities disc won't run, and programs installed from it (through Windows Explorer) have bad hang and crash problems.  Otherwise, all is well.
Nevertheless, I CAN'T WAIT for the day that MSI supplies a stable BIOS that everybody loves, that is 100% proven to make the board do what it's advertised as being able to do.  The same goes for their CoreCenter software.  It doesn't work for me now, but I'd love for it to be able to.
Anyway, I expect to live w/ the board as is for a while.  I'll drop in a Prescott CPU next year, stick w/ my Audigy 2 and All in Wonder cards and my 1 Gig of Corsair PC3200 LL DDR DRAM for a while, and I don't expect to have to upgrade otherwise for at least 3 years from now.  Hopefully, this setup will keep me running the latest and greatest software with above-acceptable performance through then.

  • 875P FIS2R, no sound, no Raptor drive

I just fired up the board with the original BIOS of 1.2 and a blue chipset fan.
Do I dare flash to 1.4?  CPU temp is 142 deg., seems a bit hot?
Onboard audio will not function. It doesn't seem to like the drivers. Any tricks here?
The installed WD RAPTOR 36 gig drive is NOT recognized by the board. What is the proper setting for this SATA drive in SETUP?  Jumpers??
    Thanks for ANY suggestions,
    Bill
    =======================================================
So far the board is stable with the following settings and hardware, software:
    XP Pro + SP1
P4 2.8 gig Hyperthreading enabled, 800 mhz, two CPUs are shown.
    Corsair 3500 C2PT 512mb X 2= 1 gig DDRAM.
    MSIGF4 Ti4200 VTD8X 128 mb
    WD 40gig 7200
    WD 30gig 7200
WD 36gig 10,000 RAPTOR (board doesn't see it)

    Bill
    Quote from WD web site
The Raptor has a jumper block located next to the ATA power connector (see image below). There is generally no need to change the default jumper setting in order to use the drive. The only use of this jumper block is to enable or disable power management for the drive. The drives ship in the default position with the shunt on pins 1-2 (disabled). Alternately, the jumper can be removed completely with the same result. Placing the shunt on pins 3-4 (enabled), designates that the drive will power-up in standby mode. For most users the default position should be used.
Secondly is the drive formatted? take a look in Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Storage, Disk Management (Local), see if it's there
If it is you can format it by right clicking and following the options
If it's not list your Bios On-Chip IDE configuration

  • 875P FIS2R 4 PATA HDs 2 Optical 1 SATA?

    OK, I have a MSI 875P Neo-FIS2R...
    The CURRENT Config...NO RAID
2x Maxtor 250g = ide 1 (boot drive is Master)
    2x optical drive = ide 2
    2x WD 160g= ide 3
    (I store alot of stuff)
I just bought a WD SATA 74g Raptor
I want to plug that SATA puppy into SERIAL 1 or 2  -OR-  Serial 3 or 4 and make this Raptor my boot drive and make minimal change the config of my current system!
And what drivers would I might need to install and make the Raptor my boot drive?
What is the least painless way to do this and make it all work in one big happy storage family? What should my bios settings be?
    Thanks all.

Put the WD on SATA1. Disconnect temporarily all the other hard drives. No drivers are required.
In bios under Integrated Peripherals, On Chip ATA Operating Mode set
    Native Mode
    ATA Configuration - PATA only
    SATA Keep enabled - yes
    PATA Keep enabled - yes
    PATA channel selection - both
    Do the windows installation.
Reconnect your other drives. Check and make sure the WD is selected as the boot drive.
If this doesn't let you boot, change to
    ATA Configuration - SATA only
After making/saving these changes you should go back into the bios on the first reboot and make sure the right boot drive is selected.

  • MSI-875P-FIS2R

    "BUMP"
    Hi
WOW!  I have just purchased the MSI 875P Neo and after reading through the many, many problem posts regarding this motherboard on this board, I'm beginning to wonder if I've made the right choice?  Just read one from 'ferres' saying that he may have got an 875P from an earlier batch and this might be causing his problems.  How can we tell if I have a recent build of the board?
I'm just getting my related hardware together (i.e. hard drives, cd-rom, display cards etc) so I have not set up the mobo yet but I would like some help with installing the drives using PATA and, or SATA.
Ok, having read the manuals and seen, apart from the normal dual ultra DMA 66/100 controllers integrated in the Intel ICH6/ICH5R chipset (IDE 1 & 2), there are also two integrated SATA/SATA RAID 150 ports (SER1 & SER2) in this chipset.
Also, the board has the Promise 20378 onboard controller with IDE 3 for connection two hard drives at up to modes UDMA 133.  It also has two SATA/SATA RAID connectors (SER3 & SER4).
Now, I don't want to have any RAID Disk Arrays at this point because if I can get 133MB/Sec or 150MB/Sec without RAID (not on IDE 1 & 2 of course), then I simply want to connect my ATA133 Maxtor hard drives normally on IDE 1 & 2 @ UDMA 100, or on SER1 & SER2, or with the "As S-ATA" enabled for the Promise 20378 in the BIOS, connected to IDE 3 as Master & Slave, which will give me ATA133.
There is also the fourth option of using SER3 & SER4 on the Promise controller.
The problem is that my Maxtor drives are not SATA drivers and I know that you can get SERIAL conversion kits that will allow me to use my drives as SATA drives and achieve 150MB/Sec but I have not found out where I can purchase them so (if anyone has a link in the UK I would be grateful),I would be happy with 133MB/Sec for the moment.
Q:  Given this information, can anyone who has already configured their 875P successfully using any of the options given above, I would appreciate details of exactly how it was done.  I.e. What connections did you use and which is best:
IDE 1 (For hard drives set to Master & Slave @ ATA100)
    IDE 2 (For CD-RW/DVD Drives)
SER1 & SER2 (With Serial conversion kit - not sure about ATA 133 drive jumper settings when using PATA drives on SATA ports)
    IDE 3 (Master & Slave)
SER3 & SER4 (Again with Serial converstion kit)
Q:  Also, given the above options and with regards to SATA/PATA, what BIOS settings did you enable/disable for best perfomance?
Q:  I intend to have my CD-RW/DVD drives on IDE 2 so, if using anything other that IDE 1 for my hard drives, does IDE 1 have to have any devices on it for the system to work correctly or can it be disabled (bearing in mind the boot sequence).
At present, I have WinXP Per installed as Master on IDE 1 in another computer and also have a Maxtor 80GB ATA133 as slave on IDE 1, so I will need to transfer the drives to my newly built pc once I have enough information and I would assume that, after first enabling the appropriate options with regard to SATA/Promise 20378 and others, it's best to boot to the CD and fresh install the O/S ?
One last question regarding the USB ports, the manual states that we can have total of 8 with 6 at the rear of the box and two at the front, or 4 at the rear and 4 at the front.  Well there are already 6 on the back I/O plate (4 at the top under the mouse/keyboard and two next to the LAN at the bottom)- how can we only have four at the rear when there are already 6 there?  My case also has two at the front and I also have D-Bracket 2 Connector which when connected to JLED1 and JUSB2 gives another 2 USB ports and when I connect the cabling from my front case USB ports to JUSB3, then I have another 2 USB ports making 10 in total?
I have many other questions regarding the 875P but I will wait for these answers before asking anymore.
    Regards
    Brave01Heart

During boot up it will say what bios version you have. If you got version 1.0 best to get 1.5 and up.
Serial ata should be in native mode, legacy mode will lose 1 of the ide ports.
Some of my previous issues may have been attributed to Win2k which seem to require SP 4 to run properly in hyper threading set ups.

  • 875P FIS2R 6-channel audio problem

I have Creative 6.1 speakers but cant get them to work with the onboard sound. I have a pass-through cable to front audio & mic. To enable 6-channel sound, the manual says that the 3 audio ports at the rear need to be converted to 6-channel out. 1) Front-left/right 2) Rear-left/right 3)Subwoofer/Centre. Do I have to disable the front audio connector to do this ie short pins 5&6 9&10? Basically, is the manual saying that you can't have a front microphone & 6-channel out at the back?
Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Or else download and install the 4.09 nforce Audio driver package (includes also the nVidia Audio Control Panel v4.08 all in one exe) and up you go ...

  • 875p FIS2R HDD Setup?

I need some help w/ setting up my HDD's.  I currently have a WD SATA Drive and a Hitachi PATA Drive.  I want to use the SATA for my Boot disk, and use the PATA Drive as a storage drive.  Id like to use the pata on IDE3 and possibly set up a raid 0 for that channel in future, or possibly set up a raid0 sata in the future.  Which drivers should I install, and how will that benefit me in the future if I'd like to add a raid 0 setup.
    Thanks,
       LeoD

Maybe I wasnt clear enough.  My question is that If I set the SATA drive up as my boot disk and a PATA drive up on IDE 3, will either the Intel or Promise driver allow me to run w/out raid on these channels now, and then add another PATA drive down the road to do a raid 0, or two SATA drives (total of three SATA, one boot, the others in RAID).  If I do add two SATA drives down the road, can I also keep the PATA drive, possibly on IDE1 or IDE2 as well? (total of four drives)

  • 3 serials (2 raided) with 875p fis2r???

I'm thinking about getting two 36gig raptors (76gig if possible) and raiding em... But i want more space so could i get another serial hd and just attach to the normal control and attach the 2 raptors to the promise controller and thus have 3 hd working at once?
    or does that not work?

    Works fine.
I've currently got a single Raptor for my OS on the Intel controller and 2 Seagate SATA's in Raid0 on the Promise controller.

  • 875P FIS2R, Dynamic OC and CMOS updates

Has anybody noticed that their CMOS settings are getting changed "on their own"?  Like many others I'm having issues with my new MB.  One of the things that I've noticed is that after making a CMOS update and saving it, some of the changes stick and others don't.  A setting that typically get's reverted back is the FSB speed.  Having set it to 201Mhz or 205Mhz I find it being reset back to 200Mhz.  My speculation is that the bios is determining that there is a problem and resetting the value.  So, what if the code that does the dynamic OC also writes its updated values back into CMOS?  That would explain my issue and many other people's as well.  Especially if in other people's cases the Dynamic OC is setting the values to things that plain just don't work.
    What do you think?

try setting memory timing to manual NOT SPD. and memory divider to DDR333.
