NO sound after USB S B Surround 5.1 Upd

I had 'new updates' available, showing?for the USB External Surround 5. so I updated the following that were offered - Creative Entertainment Center 3.40.2__Creative MediaSource Player_Organizer 3.30.2__Creative Sound Blaster USB Series Windows Vista Driver .0.0002__?Result.....NO sound ..not even from WMP. I was lucky though, I had earlier made a restore image, using Acronis and was able to restore my C: dri've. I had bought and installed?the External Surround 5. with the Creative Inspire SBS560 5. Speaker system. I used the install disk to set it all up and although not really into sound before, I was so very impressed with the quality for the money I paid. My system spec - E6850 @ 3.2GHz: P5N32-E SLI Plus:
EVGA 8800 GTS 640MB KO ACS3:
4Gb Corsair TwinX PC6400:WD Raptors:
Toughpower 850W PSU:Vista HP 64-BIT:?I'm getting the 'updates available' again (after my system restore) and with the sound system working perfectly?once more,?I'm?unhappy risking the same updates again. Any idea what could have gone wrong during the updates and has anybody else had this experience with Vista H P 64-BIT please. I did notice the old stuff was still installed despite a message, during install, that previous stuff would be uninstalled. Ray
