No sound anymore

Hi I have a hp pavillion dv 9908ca notebook, and I was watching videos from youtube one day and my sound just stopped working. I have downloaded the most updated bios, trying to resolve this issue, but no luck. I have downloaded all 3 drivers on the hp website and they have also not helped. I am thinking that the audio component on my computer is fried and it is not registering. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Sincerely After P

Hi.. from the model number of your Notebook PC, I assume Vista is installed on your PC. I suggest you to review the following HP document that has some important steps to resolve the sound issues:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00833257&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
I am sure this will help you to resolve the issue.
I work for HP....

You cannot update iPhone 4 to IOS 8.1.2, the highest you can update is IOS 7.1.2.
Unless you've iPhone 4S (looks similar to iPhone 4)

  • [Solved]No sound anymore (ALSA/PulseAudio)

Ok so I have no idea why I have no sound anymore, I didn't install anything...
    Anyway, that's what I've tried:
-Check if mixer are all up in alsamixer
-Try to play a bit with pavucontrol
    -Reboot
    -Rerun pulseaudio with verbose
-Mute and unmute with physical button (I don't know why but I used to get this problem and it used to be solved just doing this)
    -Googgling and searching this forum

My iphone dosen't doesn't make key tone sounds anymore when I write a text message or when I want to dial a phone number I don't know how to fix this problem, I don't hear the clicking noise anymore does anyone know how to fix this problem? And all the sounds on my phone are on, even the keyboard clicks.

Try restarting your iPhone by holding down the on/off and the home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, double check the volume button just in case.  If you still can't hear the tones go into your settings>sounds and make sure the options are on.

And dont have any sound anymore, nowhere. PulseAudio is just ignoring my sound-card completely and KDE/GNOME System settings tell me that i do not even have any soundcard
Alsamixer detects the soundcard fine and if i unmute the soundcard there, it works. But its not really comfortable to change the volume with Alsamixer. Also i have no ability to change between HDMI and Analog.
Any idea what could have cause this? As you can see in the logs, there havent been any major kernel update nor pulseaudio update.
This is the Soundcard: Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA)
Kernel Module is snd_hda_intel which is loaded and working
Seems like Pulseaudio is not running at all, it also does not start with the message "E: [pulseaudio] core-util.c: Home directory not accessible: Permission denied" which is not true

Ok, found out it was true.
Seems like whatever reason i have to find out reset some files (not all) to root, so i was no longer the owner of some random files for whatever reason.
    Works now.

  • ALSA often doesn't produce sound anymore after suspend

    Hi,
For some years this has been fine and pulseaudio worked fine after waking up from suspend.
But for about one or two month it more and more often doesn't. After waking up from suspend I just don't hear sound anymore. I can't find any error message anywhere, just that it doesn't output sound anymore. Killing it with "pulseaudio -k" or "pkill pulseaudio" or "pkill -9 pulseaudio" doesn't solve it. But "telinit 1", waiting until pulseaudio is dead and then "telinit 5" solves it so it is definitely not my sound driver.

Any ideas how I can find out what's wrong?

Maybe the power saving for my sound chip triggered the problem. I had this in my startup config:
    echo 1 > /sys/module/snd_hda_intel/parameters/power_save
I have removed it and hadn't had that problem so far. If it doesn't happen in the next time I'll mark this as solved. :-/
    EDIT:
Nope, it didn't help. Today after waking up from suspend it didn't output any sound although everything seemed fine.
This time I tried transferring the sound over the network with pulseaudio. That worked.
Then I killed everything and even went to init 1. But there not even mplayer -ao alsa worked and I had to reboot to get my sound back. So, not pulseaudio's fault, but alsa doesn't work right.

  • TS1702 Suddenly no sound anymore, including music, when typing etc. Any idea why?

All of a sudden there is no sound anymore. Neither in music nor typing etc. Checked all possibilities, but nothing works. Does anyone have an idea? In the end I may need to send to be checked upon by Apple but prefer to solve myself. Thanks.

I turned the device off entirely holding the right top buttom and then turn it on again until the Apple logo appears. It takes a while but sound is back on. Still, rather strange that sound spontaneously disppears. Maybe warranty has just expired!!

Probably is. They get dusty. Shut down your computer and clean it out with a vacuum (don't blow dust back inside).

  • Reader doesn't play zero size (width x height) RMA, e. g. sound, anymore

    Hi,
Just to make sure I didn't miss something. It seems that newer versions of Adobe Reader with separate FlashPlayer plugin deny playing zero size (i. e. not consuming document page space) RMAs anymore. In case of short auto-played sound RMAs, the user interface is not really necessary. So I used to embed such RMAs with zero dimensions into the document page. But recently they stopped playing, unless a small extension (in terms of page space) was given to them. Has this behaviour been introduced on purpose (perhaps for security reasons)?
    Alex

Everything on a page has to have some presence. It was just lucky that what you've been doing up to now worked. Now it doesn't, and the reasons for code changes are not discussed with the general public. If you feel this change should be reversed, file a feature request at http://www.adobe.com/go/wish
I can't see any justification for a zero-size SWF - even if the sound is controlled by scripting you (and a reader) must have access to a page region to open the context menus. If you don't want any visible playhead, the correct workflow is to create a completely-transparent audio player in Flash that works as a play/stop button, so Flash Player has somewhere to hang its context menu.

  • No sound anymore - iMac doesn't recognize Firewire HD anymore

    Hi there,
For months I have been using Final Cut Express with my external Firewire HD without any problem. I have been working on several projects and FCE always recognized my HD.
Then a few days ago suddenly my audio meters didn't move anymore: no sound at all! It didn't matter which project I opened, they all remained quiet while the video played. All the other applications on my iMac still generate sound.
Strange thing happened when I changed my settings in Easy Setup. I had sound... until I chose another clip. I tried this several times: always had sound until I selected another clip.
After I closed and restarted FCE I got this message:
    "External A/V
Unable to locate the following external devices: Apple Firewire PAL (720x576)"
I already knew this message from the times that I had forgotten to activate my Firewire HD before starting FCE, but this time my Firewire HD was definitely on.
My System Profiler recognizes the Firewire HD, but whatever I try I still get the same message from FCE.
I trashed my preferences. I reinstalled FCE. All to no avail.
I don't know what to do anymore, please help.
    Thanks in advance!

I figured it out! I already had read the link you mentioned, but when I did read it again after you posted it I began to reflect on third party devices and that lead to the solution.
I have 2 audio interfaces: 1 Emagic A62M and 1 Tascam US-122L. Apparently Final Cut doesn't like the Tascam. You can read more about it here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4150185&
I've been using both interfaces for several applications, but I couldn't believe that dead audio meters might be the result of a switch between audio interfaces. Until I stopped being naive and stubborn and just tried going back to the Emagic interface.

  • After updating to 6.1.3. I don't have any 'sound' anymore?!

    Hi,
I updated my iphone 5 as well as ipad with 8pin connector to i.o.s. 6.1.3 and then all 'notifcation sounds' dissapear....can someone help?
    Thx

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
     Cheers, Tom

  • Text messages are not making sounds anymore.

I have the sound on and when I send and receive text messages, I do not hear the alert. I also do not hear the keystrokes.
Speaker phone works when I get a call but I can't hear texts or keystrokes, or the keypad when I am placing a call.
When I plug in the earphones I hear the sounds fine. I pluged in an unplugged the headphones. I also turned on and off the device.
Is speakerphone separate from other sounds??
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
