No sound at partner's skype when using my ipad

I've had that problem as well. It then turned out that the sound of the iPad did not work any more (not with Skype, not with a y other program). Can you check wether it works when used with another program?

[iPad Mini no Retina, iOS 7.0.4] Sound in only one side of earphone (no mic), but sound come from both sides when using FaceTime

Recently, I found with iPad Mini w/o Retina, iOS 7.0.4, the sound comes only from left side of my earphone when listening music, watching YouTube videos, even playing system sound. But the sound come from both sides when using FaceTime.
Earphone is not broken. Plug completely into the audio jack. This problem only shows up recently, worked fine weeks ago.
Anyone has the same problem? Or has some solution on this issue?

OK, I found the answer in the mail settings under the advanced button.

Click/Tick/Hiss sound before audio comes on when using headphone jack.

This started happening yesterday on my 1.5 week old macbook. Whenever an audio source comes through after a period of silence, say on IM without any music from iTunes playing or when you just start playing a song in iTunes, there is a short but very distinct ticking sound that happens before the audio is played. At first I ignored it but after a while, it got really annoying; especially when you're typing in an IM conversation and the tick happens on every send and reply. Is anyone else having this problem? Should I call up applecare/visit my local apple retail store?
It happens on both battery and AC. I've already tried resetting the PMU. I don't think it happens when using the macbook speakers, but I can't say for certain since the freqeuency response on them are pretty bad. And this also happens when I boot into Windows using bootcamp.
P.S. If it turns out that this is a defect, since this is a custom build to order machine, should I call applecare to get it taken care of or would I be fine if I went to the apple store that's 20 mins away?

I just tested using my headphones. I can hear a very short, soft, single tick sound when I click to start playing a track in iTunes. I've never noticed it before. But I don't do IM a lot.
Unless you're hearing something more dramatic, I think you would have a hard time convincing someone in an Apple Store that it's a defect worth fixing.
What about visiting an Apple Store, take your headphones, and try them on floor samples to see if they all do it? If not, you could make a case.

Why can't I attach docs to my email, even when I'm in my mac or yahoo account when using an iPad. I'm thinking of returning it because it is a basic tool that isn't supported.

Except for the first response, all of you are unhelpful. The email was configured. Apple contacted me about the issue and said that the iPad cannot attach multiple docs to a single email regardless of whether the docs are located on the iCloud, in Pages, or a dropbox. It's operating system is not designed to do so (a stupid error if they are promoting the use of iPads for business and productivity, or even fields like architecture, design, and marketing, or even as an office alternative for remote use in meetings...which they are in professional consultations with offices). It also cannot do this through an alternate email site like a university server, yahoo, gmail, etc via Safari. Apple also cannot recommend a third party App that can do so. What they recommended, and there seems to be a lot of buzz about this being a problem with the iPad on the Internet, is that people go to their website, go to product feedback and go to enhancement requests and request the capacity to attach different types of files other than photos, and the capacity to attach multiple documents to an email. Basic functions...any email user would want. One of the Apple techs even thought it was implausible that they hadn't integrated this function ALREADY, when I called to set up the appointment.

You don't necessarily need to set it to never...being set that way, you'll risk depleting the battery in case you forget to lock the screen.
Instead, use a value greater than your previous 2 minute setting...see which time setting would work for you. The settings are:
2 Minutes
5 Minutes
10 Minutes
15 Minutes
Never

When using my ipad out in direct sunlight it overheats. Any solution?

I usually sit outside for lunch and use my ipad. After about 30 minutes in the direct sunlight -- it shut down saying it was overheating. Anyone else have that problem? Is there a solution other than not using it in the sun?

Any electronic device has a temperature threshold in which it is safe to operate and should be shutdown if the temperature goes under or over the limits.
If the iPad doesn't shut down in this situation, it could do permanent damage to it.
Please remember that this is not an iPad specific problem, every electronic device (that does not have a cooling fan) should be used under the sun with care.
I once forgot a VHS cassette in my car on a sunny day (around 80F), and it actualy melted and became unreadable. The sun might not look as it is heating the device a lot, but without a fan the heat can become unbearable.

When using the iPad 2 to browse the National Weather Service the embedded Google map can not accurately point to the correct location when tapped. Is there a solution?

For example, using the iPad to check various locations around Davis, ca on the NWS website, the embedded google map is grossly off location.

Then, using the ipad, if I tap on Sacramento, I get a location to the southeast near Angel's Camp.

Same problem with iPhone. Use to work with an earlier version of Operating System.

The website may alter its page display based on the browser ID that is transmitted to the site from your browser. Some browsers on the iPad like iCab allow you change the browser ID to something desktop-oriented. Safari does not provide this capability.

SOUND DISTORTED ON ALL APPLICATION WHEN USING FIREFOX

when I try to use google phone or listen a sound clip from the internet or run a TV episode the sound is distorted.

Disabled the hardware acceleration and that seemed to help. Haven't seen the problem again so far, but will keep an eye out and try the next thing if it comes back.

Audio disabled in Skype when using Digital Camcorder

Hello guys,
I have a question regarding using DV Camcorder for Skype videochat. I have Mac Pro, OS X Leopard.
I am using digital Camcorder which is connected to Mac via FireWire connection. The problem is, that person I chat with is seeing my video fine, but cannot hear my audio. (I am using a standard external microphone connected to the camcorder via XLR, and camcorder shows that audio is received fine)
Is there any setting I have to change? Or anything else I have to adjust in order to fix this problem?

There must be some users out there who for some odd reason don't won't the digital output to be mutable. Are they the majority of digital output users? Seems unlikely.
Can't we get our mute key back as an option for digital out in the Sound prefs panel?

Sound randomly comes out speakers when using earphones and wierd ZZZZZT sound

For some wierd reasonm, sound sometimes comes out my speakers when I have my earphones in for like a split second. Also sometimes this wierd ZZZZZT sound comes out when listening to music and scares the living crap outa me.Help please?

I don't get the weird sound (yet), but the sound will randomly stop coming through the headphones and play through the speakers. This is incredibly frustrating, as I just bought this laptop this month and recieved it yesterday.

I want to generate some beeps with certain frequency and duration time.
Setting "use system alert? (T)" true, I can hear the beep; Setting "use system alert? (T)" false, certain frequency and duration time, I can't hear any sound. Why?

Your PC speaker only covers certain frequencies.. Mine goes as low as 37 Hz, which I cannot be distinguished from other lower frequencies. I have to go up to 80 Hz before hearing any difference. I can hear up to 14000 Hz and barely 15000 Hz. Now, you cannot compare this with a Hi-Fidelity sound system..
As for setting False, it will not play anything. So all appears normal.. And of course, if it does not play anything, the duration setting is ignored..

EDIT: I just read the othe people's posts.. The frequency & duration settings work fine on my machine. It is a PC, running Win-XP.
(Finally, I can say something positive about a PC running XP.. )
