No sound Device detected on HP Pavilion m7650n

What's Up Peeps!! Happy Holidays to everybody.
Yesterday, when I logged on to one of my sons' computers - there was no sound coming out of the speackes on the HP w22 monitor. I checked to make sure it was plugged in and it was. According to one of my sons, the problem occurred a couple of weeks ago.
I then went to HP trouble shooting and followed all of the instructions will no success. To make a long frustrating morning short. I typed msinfo032 and got  into property information. I checked on Components then Sound Device. The screen in totally blank.
How do I reinstall the sound device and get the computer to recognize it?
I do appeciate any help anyone can give me.
Peace,
Jimbobber805

OG,
I downloaded the drive and restarted the computer. I checked on the control panel under sounds and audio devices and it still shows no audio device. Is there something else I need to do?
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
Peace,

Did you install the driver once it was downloaded?  I am not certain from your response.

  • No sound device detected

I have just got a K7N2G and am having really big problems with the sound, i don't get any at all. I have tried installing using the latest nVidia drivers from there website but still no luck. In device manager it has the following things listed to do with the audio.
    Audio Codecs
    Legacy Audio
I tried installing the Realtek AC97 drivers from there website and updated the "Legacy Audio" drivers using the AC97 ones. Still doesn't work and it has a little explaination mark next to it now.
When i go to control panel and select Sounds and Audio Devices it says "No Audio Device" at the top of the dialog box that appears.
What else can i do? Is the motherboard broke or something?

I had the exact same sound problems when I installed my KT3 Ultra 2-R mobo.  I have Windows '98 so naturally I installed the Win'98 drivers for the avance AC97 soundcard but it didin't work, no sound, everything greyed out in multi-media, no speaker icon, the works.  And I checked everything.  In the end I fixed it by completely unistalling the Win'98 drivers and installing the Win'95 drivers for the soundcard, after that it worked perfectly.  I don't know if this will help in your case, but it could be worth a go.

  • [Neo2] No sound device detected

I purchased a K8N Neo2 Platinum refurbished from newegg.com.  Everything seems to be running great, expect that Windows does not detect any audio device.  I have installed clean versions of both Windows XP Pro and Windows XP Pro x64 Edition, and neither detects the audio codec.  I have installed the RealTek driver, both the version from the MSI website and the one from Realtek's website, but Windows still doesn't see any audio device.
    K8N Neo2 Platinum Athlon 64 3000+
    BIOS 1.2/1.4.1
    Dual Channel DDR333 1024MB

That was the very first thing I tried.  I even installed three different versions of the BIOS (1.2, 1.3, and 1.4.1).  In the POST screen, there is no mention of assigning an IRQ value to the audio, is that normal?  Could it be a defective board?

  • [SOLVED] GStreamer was unable to detect any sound devices

In my experiments to get the headphone jack working my my Mac Pro, I have managed to break the audio system. That's often the result of experimenting towards solving a problem.
I get this error when attempting to open the audio mixer panel.
"GStreamer was unable to detect and sound devices. Some sound system specific GStreamer packages may be missing. It may also be a permissions problem."
I suspect that the audio drivers have been corrupted during my experiments. How do I restore them?

your first sentence says that you have, your last says that you don't. and your title talks about pulse audio.

  • DV7 - Error 03F0 - No Boot Device Detected - Passes both Memory and HDD Test

    Hi there,
My DV7 will not boot up at all.  When powered on, I see the HP loading screen briefly, then into "dos type" font saying "No Boot Device Detected - Error 03F0"
I have run both the memory test and hard drive test from the diagnostic menu and both come back ok.
    A little more history on the Device/Problem;
2 months ago it was shutting itself off due to overheating - After a good cleaning, the temps cooled down enough that it was no longer shutting off.
I am currently in India, plugging directly into outlets (230v power) using an adapter.  10 days ago there was a small spark at the outlet leaving a very small spot on one of the prongs of the adapter.  There was no power flicker, and it wasn't a surge, just almost like a bad connection sparking.  This "spark" seemed to have killed my charger immediately.  I used the battery until nearly dead, purchased a new charger, but when I returned and tried the new charger, it would not charge, nor power on.  When plugged in, at this point, the power/charging light on the side was lit, but not on the front.  I used a pin to open the CD drive, and the front light lit up, but it still would not power on.
I took it to a repair shop here in India, and they managed to get it so it would power on (not sure how), but that has only brought me to where I'm at right now with the Error.  They said "It worked, and then we tested again and it didn't work and now it no work".
My current BIOS edition is F.46.
Essentially I'm wondering if I'm screwed - and if I'm not, then what can I do to trouble shoot/fix it?
P.S.  Finding parts in India that are specific to my computer will be near impossible with the technology differences.  Also, dealing with local techs is extremely difficult so I'll need to know
P.S.S.  I just tried to power it on again to double check the accuracy of my post and it will not power on, nor can I get the CD drive open again....

Is the unit still in warranty?
Based on the description of the behavior, it does sound a hardware issue beyond the hard drive.
Was the AC adapter that was purchased an HP adapter? I know you said it is difficult to get the right parts in your area, but I want to confirm if it is an HP adapter or aftermarket.

  • No Audio Device Detected (but it shows up correctly in device-manag

Well, I bought a new soundcard, since I was tired of my old integrated one, and wanted good surround-sound. The model is Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatalty, and my old integrated one is a Realtek-HD (doesn't say more than that).
Now to my problem, I removed the drivers from Realtek (even cleaned lots of it from the registry) and put in the new soundcard in a PCI-slot, as it's supposed to be done. I then started the computer, canceled the automatic installation and installed the drivers from the CD I got with the card (this is what it said I should do), now the card shows up in the device-manager as "Creative SB X-Fi" and it tells me it's working fine etc. The Creative-update software also detects it so that I can download the latest drivers.
However, I have no sound, and in the control-panel's "sound & sound devices" it says "No sound device" and I can't do anything. :/ (not sure if this is what it's called in english, I'm using the swedish version of Windows XP Professional), I can select the soundcard in creatives Volume Panel (where it says "select audio device") without any error-messages, but when I double click the application (to change the volume etc.) it says it can't find any supported soundcards.
I tried removing the drivers etc. for the SB-card and installed the Realtek ones again, but it's the same thing there, it shows up in the device manager (under sound - video & gaming-units) but windows still says it can't find an audio-device. My guess is that there's some kind of conflict between the Realtek-integrated card and the new one.
Anyone got any ideas of what to do? :/
Edit: Also, the computer keeps wanting to install the integrated soundcard, but I can't seem to find any way to turn it off in the BIOS :/ (I have an ABIT motherboard, don't know what type, can't seem to find the box for it). The BIOS is called "Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG"
I have ofcourse tried to fully remove and reinstall the SB-drivers aswell, but no luck there. :/

next time go into control panel click on sounds, click on record, right click any where in the record box and then put check marks in the boxes that say show disabled devices, and show disconnected devices. Those devices disappear when the boxes are not checked making your pc think there is no output sound.

  • Urgent problem with Recovery Manager's File backup operation: No storage device detected

I have a Pavilion g7-1070us laptop that failed to start and simply displays a blue-screen with a blinking cursor (no error message).
I could NOT get into safe-mode by hitting F8, but was able to activate the “HP recovery manager” by hitting F11.
I was trying to back-up my files before triggering the system restore. It asked me what types of files to back-up, then scanned the computer for these files and was finalizing the files for back-up; then suddenly an error message showed up saying something like "No storage device detected. Make sure the removable disc drive is connected to computer". But I have both a blank DVD sitting in the optical drive and a USB drive attached!!!!!!
I was expecting the system to ask me where to save these backed-up files but no such question was asked and this nonsense error message appeared out of nowhere. Apparently the recovery manager couldn't see my DVD or USB drive?
Can someone throw me a life-saver here? If I cannot recover my files, I cannot proceed with the system restore and I am forever stuck here!!!!!!
    Please help!!!! Much appreciated!!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

The blinking cursor means the system is attempting to load Windows, but is unable to read the boot files. There are a number of causes including hardware issues. Run the tests as before to ensure the hardware is functional. I would have to run through the software repair steps only to find it is a hardware issue. Hard drives is perhaps the most common component to have issues regardless of the manufacturer.
I suspect the hard drive will pass the test and will go ahead and link to DavidPK's posts in this thread as they have the best chance to resolve the issue without losing and restoring everything. I do recommend this step at this point since two recoveries did not resolve the issue. DavidPK's solution comes in two parts, so be sure to follow both starting with the first post and moving to the second post should the first one not do the trick.
Let me know how this goes.

  • Loss of internal sound devices.

After trying portable speakers (which used a usb and 3.5mm headphone jack) to play a show on my Macbook Air (Mid '13), I swapped for a HDMI TV setup to play the show. After successful entertainement and returning to my quarters, I noticed the Air cannot detect internal sound devices (both output and input). It seems that a headset + usb sound card adapter and the HDMI TV can output sound. However, the internal speakers nor do iphone headphones work with the 3.5mm jack. When I plug them in, I hear a static pop noise and then a soft drone of static.
Some remedies I have tried are:
    SMC reset
PRAM reset (unable to hear chime even after 4-5 zaps)
    repair permissions
plug and unplug working output sources
I've had the Macbook Air for about a month and spend the majority of my time using it for multitasking browsers, power points, and word documents. Frequently, I also spend time playing a native client of League of Legends.
    Minimum requirements: https://support.leagueoflegends.com/entries/234272-Minimum-System-Requirements-P C-
I'm unsure how to approach the situation or if I overlooked something.

Does the Speaker still work? Are any alerts played at all? Calls on Loudspeaker?
Sounds like a problem with that... How long have you had it? If not long, try to get it replaced... if a bit longer, I'd recommend taking it to your nearest Nokia Service Centre (www.nokia.com/repair) and asking them to take a look at it.Message Edited by richcowell on 28-Jul-2006

  • Sound loss on my HP Pavilion g7-1279dx, 64 bit Notebook

The sound on my HP Pavilion g7-1279dx 64 bit Notebook was workinmg until I plugged in the headphones. Now all sound is lost, although the diagnostic tools say sound devices are enabled.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55026.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.
If you still have no audio, open windows Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and open Services.  Check that the following services are all showing as Status= Started and Start-up Type= Automatic
    Audio Service
    Multimedia Class Scheduler
    Windows Audio
    Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
If you need to make a change to any of the above, just right click the service and select Properties, then in the dropdown box next to 'Start-up type',  select Automatic and click Apply to save the change.  Then click the Start button.
