No sound during a call on iPhone 4S! Help!!!!

Hi, my iPhone 4s' sound isn't working during a call. I can't hear the person on the other end, nor can I hear them. I can't hear it ringing either, although when I have an incoming call I can hear that ringing then, but nothing else. It started off a couple weeks ago when my microphone was making me sound weird to whoever I was on the phone to. Some would say it sounded like I was under water or in a massive group of people. Long story short, the sound wasn't very good. The same sound came through my speakers so neither one of us could clearly hear each other. Some calls everything would be completely normal and I could hear everything fine but then it would go back to how it was. Obviously now it's completely gone and I'm pretty sure the phone is fairly close to being ready for an upgrade so I'm not really prepared to fork out money on a phone I won't be needing much longer, nonetheless the issue is frustrating and extremely inconvenient considering a phone is made for communication. I've tried a lot of the suggested things to do from other forums and YouTube videos but so far it's been unsuccessful. If there is anyone out there that is a super high tech genius or just someone who knows how to fix my issue id be so grateful!

Disturbing sounds during the calls / impossibility to finish the call then

Dear Apple,
always when any message comes or alarm is set upetc and I am having a phonecall at this moment, always all these sounds are disturbingme during this call. And the biggest problem is to finish the call then – i cantclick on „Finish“ because of previously incoming notifications shown on thescreen. How to solve this situation? It sounds like you can't be heard on calls when using speakerphone. I know it can be frustrating to encounter unexpected issues with a new device.
I'd recommend going through these tips first, to see if they have an impact on the behavior you're seeing:
Test the microphone
To find out if there is an issue with the microphone itself—and not the app you're using or your cellular connection—test the microphone with the built-in Voice Memos app. Speak into the microphone and then play back the recording. You should be able to hear your voice clearly.
Follow these steps, testing after each with Voice Memos.
Unplug anything plugged into the headset jack.
If you're on a call and holding your phone next to your ear, speak into the microphone and make sure you don't block it with your fingers or shoulder.
If you're using a screen protector or case that covers the microphone, remove it. Clear any debris from the microphones.
Restart your device.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
If you've tried these steps and people still can't hear you well on calls, contact Apple Support.

Loud feedback squeal during phone calls on iPhone 5 in life proof case, has anyone else had this issue?

I have had my IPhone 5 for one week and just installed it in a life proof case. After installing it in the case I started getting a loud feedback squeal while talking on the phone. There was no squeal when the phone was not in the case so I suspect the case is causing the reaction. I work in construction so this case is a must to keep the phone safe. Has anyone else had this issue or is there a solution so that my phone can remain in the case?

Sound during phone calls very soft, can't increase volume further. Help!

Within the past few days I've noticed that I can barely hear someone when I speak on the phone (without the earphone/mic). Speaker function works, but I don't want to use it all the time. The volume is turned up as far as it can go. Anyone else have this problem. When I do try using the earphones/mic, it works fine.

Have you tried to reboot the iPhone. That is done by holding down the home button and the power off/on button until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slide to power off screen. Also, no insult intended, I have found that if I don't hold the iPhone to my ear just the right way, I have a difficult time hearing it. It might just be readjusted the position of the phone to you ear. However, if a reboot or repositioning don't work, the last user troubleshooting is a restore, first from a backup and if no help, then as a new phone or not from a backup. You will need to ensure you have everything set in supported applications before you do the restore as a new phone so you can sync all of your content back.

Why does my iphone5 vibrate during a call

Lately my iphone 5 gently vibrates during phone calls. can anyone help me with this?

What she meant was that the notification vibration was still on DURING a call.
i.e. when you are talking on the phone, when an instant message/ sms/ notification comes it, it vibrates in your ear.
If anyone can resolve this problem without disabling all vibration altogether, it is much appreciated.

Wi-Fi calling on iPhones for in house use only

We are exploring in-house wi-fi calling on iPhones to help reduce our Verizon bill. We'd like to just use the iPhone's built-in "Facetime" audio calling, but I'm a bit confused on how we'd call to/from normal phone numbers...is that possible or does it just work like Skype and you can only call to/from email addresses (or Facetime accounts)? Maybe Google Voice would be a work-around? Feedback appreciated, thanks!

IPhone 5S GSM no sound during calls

Dear all,
I have been having this issue for quite a while now and nothing seems to be working:
95% of the times when I try to answer or place a call, it will connect, but I would not hear anything and I also will not be heard. The phone app itself is also very sluggish (it freezes for 5-7 seconds). It is the same if I try placing a call using headphones with a built-in microphone. Turning the speaker on won't help either.
When the call does go through with sound, the quality is not great, but still acceptable. Once it does, I am able to talk even for hours, and then it is back to square one.
Suspecting it might be a carrier/network issue, I requested a sim unlock, which they did. If I put a different sim card in it, I can place or receive a call, but the problem with sound is still there.
I tried all the steps I could think of, including a soft reset, a hard reset with and without backup from before the problem occurred, a complete wipe out from the DFU mode (with new firmware), resetting network settings multiple times, changing the sim card. I tried also turning the location services off, turning the noise reduction off etc. It happened weeks after I updated to 8.1.3 and is still there after I upgraded to 8.2, so probably it is not upgrade-related.
Facetime, Facetime Audio, Skype, Viber, regular text messages, iMessages and every other app that uses sounds/mic/headset/speakers work just fine both with and without headphones, both on Wi-Fi and on cellular data.
The phone has never been jailbroken, never had water damage, has never gotten any major falls or other damage. There are no Apple Stores where I live, unfortunately.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Loss of sound during calls following updating iphone 4 with IOS5

I've recently updated my Iphone 4 with the IOS5 update. Since then I've had terrible problems with loss of sound on phonecalls. I can hear others but they cant hear me - loss of sound is patchy during a call. I've cleaned mic with a soft brush and rebooted but problem still exists. Any ideas before I restore factory settings/ and or take back to the shop?

I have a Iphone 4 and when i try to make calls, i cannot hear anything unless i put it on speaker, and sometimes if i try to turn the call volume up during a call without the speaker it almost sounds like the speaker is blown out. I just bought this phone online 2 days ago so i don't understand how that could happen.
Is anyone having this problem? I'm am totally lost with what to do other than return the phone in and see if i can get another one?

I am having the same issue. I am updating to 6.1.3 to see if that helps. It is really annoying. It seems to vibrate as well as hiss on my ear piece speaker while on a call. I keep looking at the phone thinking maybe another call is coming in.

Beeping sounds during iPhone calls when it's not touching my face

Anyone know how to resolve dial tone beeps that occur during phone calls? I am using a headset and it's not touching my face.

Is this with all calls when using a headset or just some?
If some perhaps there's a second call trying to get through & it's notifying you there's another call waiting or if it's a Bluetooth headset maybe it's telling that it requires charging.

Iphone 4, people can't hear me during a call

I'm reporting an issue related to "phone call" that seems to be common with Iphone 4, but I can not find the proper fix.
First of all My mobile is an Iphone 4 out of warranty, and thus no chance to get any replacement from apple.
Few weeks ago the phone just falls and then my problems during phone call starts:
During calls or right at the start of a call peolpe can not hear me. If I just tap at the rear of the phone or just push hard on the back of the phone, it comes back.
But this is a pain as few seconds after people can hear me again...then tap on the phone...this back...and again and again..
I've tried all these fixes found on forum, but it does not solve the problem.
- Itune restore/updqte under DFU: no change
- Use earphones : no change
- try without 3G: no change
- check sim card: no change
- change the iphone micro (bottom one): no change
- clean the ambiance micro hole (top one): no change
- put some plastics spacer like there http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jhWxYTVxe4 : no change
Note that face time: is working fine and sound recorder also!!!!
Please any idea? Does apple plan to update IOS. I heard it was linked to Audio conversion CPU that was poorlu soldered?!!

That *****. I've been a super loyal customer.
I'm basically an apple freak and have dragged a number of my friends down the apple road... Macbook pros, ipads, iphones.. and now I'm stuck with a broken iPhone..
I've found that the people at the "Genius Bar" are not that genius. Once... ONCE I've come one that was super helpful and smart, but all the other times, they were trying to give me lame excuses and beat around the bush. That's when I started to explain to them. (I seriously contemplated on working at Apple as one of the genius guides.) I'd rather have a plain "I don't know" answer than tell me a bunch of nonsense (if you know what I mean).

I really don't know what to do with my phone now.. And I'm not really willing to pay $190 to trade/replace my iPhone 4. It's a bit too much for me. And its not even an upgrade to the iPhone 4s!!

When making or receiving calls on my iPhone 4, I can hear the person on the other end, but they can't hear me. This happens most of the time, but occaisionally, it works! Sometimes it starts during the call...Can you help me?

Problem:
Videos, memos and other sound microphone using applications work without any problem. It just appears when calling or being called. Sometimes it starts during the call.
Situation:
I sent my damaged IPhone 4 to apple for reparation. I bought it for 180 € + 20 € for my retailer.
Some calls later this problem started (only at the new or repaired IPhone). My 3 month warranty is almost over (4 weeks left)
Steps to solve the problem:
- rebootet the IPhone several times
- made a backup (iCloud and ITunes) and recovered it again
- I set back all settings to standard.
--> Nothing changed
Then I went to my retailer, who sent it to Apple, but I just received a sheet of paper where they said, they did nothing.
Surprisingly the problem still exists. Started at the second call I received. Now the warranty time is going to run out in 4 weeks.
Open Questions:
What else can I do? I have a not working IPhone and nobody want's to help me ?!? I feel lost and disappointed. Do they want to cheat me, so my warranty runs out? Thanks for any help
