No sound emits form my laptop for as long as I can remember

Ever since I have started using my Probook, no sound emits from the internal speaker, my headphones when I plug them in, or any other peripheral auditory devices I plug in. I have been researching this topic for quite a while and have decided to ask on the forums now due to the lack of an answer. From what I've checked, the speakers and headphones are listed as not plugged in at all times within the 'Playback devices' when I have plugged in my headphones into the jack. Device Manager lists no errors. I am not sure if this is a driver issue or not, as I have checked different forums and websites as to which driver(s) should be installed to fix the issue, but none of them have worked. A response with a step towards fixing my problem would be much appreciated.

I have been a Verizon Wireless and FIOS customer for as long as I can remember. The last 2 months has been the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I own a Samsung Galaxy S4 that I purchased through the Verizon trade-up program. Initially I thought this program was a great idea for folks into technical gadgets to trade-up to the next best phone on the market. Over the last month I have called customer service numerous times regarding dropped calls, no service, and most recently my Samsung S4 will not send or receive texts within 20minutes, it will not operate effectively with the limited apps I have on the phone and I must reset the phone 5-8 times per day to make a call. I called Verizon Wireless customer service multiple times. The last call revealed an error within the software that is not yet fixable for weeks or maybe months according to the technical advisor. Like many other customers my phone is the lifeline to my world outside of work and paying a premium for a service is more than affordable as my lifeline. To date Verizon will not honor a warranty on this phone (which is within warranty) and it took a similar act of congress to get the truth from a willing tech. This is terrible and beyond disappointment. I just ordered new service from the **** pile called AT&T and I hope that in the smallest regard I receive better service from them than I have experienced from Verizon in the last 2 months. I purchased a phone, I expect it to work and if it doesn’t I expect you to honor your promise of service. You failed. Want to make it right? Give me a call!

Thanks for that. Much more constructive than the last comment. It's only the restriction code I can't recall, not the access passcode. So I can currently access the device, just not age restricted content. Does that's make a difference? I also wondered if anyone knew how many attempts you get to try to get it right. Now tried 21 times and so far nothing bad has happened but I am concerned I'll eventually be completely locked out of the device. That doesn't seem in the spirit of things though. Surely it's foreseeable that a child could repeatedly try to guess the code so I can't see that it would be right to lock the device down completely in that circumstance, particularly if the access code is being typed in correctly every time.

In Safari for as long as I can remember, in preferences,

where one is invited to drag and drop, extensions to tool bar, IT HAS NEVER WORKED. Nothing will drag. I can still scroll through the list and install the ones I want, but it should work or they should stop inviting you to drag and drop.

Which Extension is this?
Extensions are installed the Safari / Preferences - Extensions pane where you can easily turn that off or uninstall. No idea what you are trying to drag and drop.

Yes it will work. I've done it for a few users in my small office. As with anything, there are quirks that you may or may not experience. Most quirks are app-related, due to app developers hard-coding absolute paths into their apps for things like temp files (Photoshop). Strategies for resolving these sorts of quirks can be found via google. You would probably have seen these quirks already when using server-based home folders for your kids. If you haven't noticed them, then you're probably fine.
The tech note you cited should be fine. It doesn't explicitly say so, but you'll need to enable ssh on your server, at least temporarily, so you can upload your home folder to the server using scp, rsync, etc. Don't try to copy the files up to the server via Finder.
Once all your files are transferred to the server and in the right place, make sure to chown them on the server, so they are owned by the userID you created for yourself on the server.
As with anything this involved, make a good backup of your laptop first.
Note I have one user that isn't too happy with the responsiveness of the periodic mobile home syncing. She has about a decade of e-mail in her home folder, probably 50 to 100 emails per day, many with attachments. Mobile home syncing takes a long time to check and sync this huge tree of itty-bitty files, eevn with server-side file tracking turned on. The other users are happy.
The nice thing about mobile home syncing is that when a user "graduates" to an age where they've earned their own laptop, you can change them from a server home user to a mobile home user, with a minimum of fuss. Also, if you lose or break a laptop, you can add a new replacement laptop to your network, and pull-down a replica of the home folder from the server, with almost no downtime.

Form Personalization - Validation for an existing field value can be done?

Dear All,
I have a requirement to have a validation on a form value based on its current value.
The field should be editable as well it should check its current value with the newly eneterd value, which should not be less than the originally displayed value.
Can I do this through Form Personalization..?
If Yes how can I do that..? Please update...

Why does surround sound have to be CMSS for it to work, I can only do ste

I just looked at this tutorial on this site: (I can't get it to insert the link no matter what. I clicked "insert a hyperlink, but that isn't working either). It makes it sound like the only way to get sound from all of your speakers is to enable cmss and click that top option. The only way I can get sound from all of my speakers is to enable the bottom option. What is the deal, and am I getting the best/worst sound in the way I am doing it's

I believe to insert a hyperlink on this website you have to enable scripting. Generating?mp3 or?CD Stereo music out of your 4 satelite speakers and center channel requires either enabling the X-Fi CMSS 3D Surround(generally used for Movies)?setting in your Audio Console or, alternately, if using your X-Fi card with an external Decoder, you could (if available on your decoder) enable Dolby PLII Music enhancement or X2 Stereo enhancement. I personally prefer the results from enabling CMSS 3D Surround and then adjusting my center channel for an even sound stage although I have used Dolby PLII Music enhancement, via my external decoder and optical connection to my X-Fi External console, in the past with very good results. As far as the CMSS-3D Xpand Mode (generally used for Stereo Music Audio played on 4./5./6./7. speaker systems) it appears to be a somewhat more subtle version of the CMSS-3D Surround mode available providing the end-user with a slightly different stereo upmix emphasis. I like either mode as both are very convincing, not outstanding, but certainly acceptable methods of upmixing stereo to various external surround sound speaker and amplifier systems. :smileysurprised:Keep in mind that if you wish to play DVD Movies with Dolby Digital 5. or DTS soundtracks and you want all the discreet channels available then turn off the CMSS-3D. Short form or Alias for the long PCD location

Hello Everybody,
We have created some iViews, pages and roles in EP.
Roles have long pcd ID. like:
pcd:portal_content/com.<company name>.<root folder>/<sub folder ID>/<Role name with prefix>
I am using this full text to point to the correct UM role in UWL configuration. This is very long. Can I assign any alias or short name like, portal_requestor so that I can use only "portal_requestor" to point to actual UM role?

But, i tries providing quick link in the role name field. But it doesn't recognize this quick link. It gives error saying, invalid UM role.
Short URLs and Quick links are the options using which we can access any iViews or pages through browser with short url.
But, my issue is, how can I specify role name with such short form in Portal at design time.
If you go to System administration -> system configuration -> Universal worklist & Workflow -> Universal worklist - Administration, You will get a table for Universal worklist Systems.
Try to edit any one system over here. You will get one field called User roles. This is the field where I want to specify different roles for which this UWL system should be used. But, those roles names with prefix are too long. I need some alias or short form for role to specify over here.
Hopefully, now requirements should be clear.

Any rules for how long a creditor can wait to report a delinquincy?

I have been working very hard for years to rebuild my credit. I was getting close to the 700 mark, as my mess ups as a teenager rolled off. Then, two weeks ago, a medical debt popped up from 2012. Now, in 2012 I had already started trying to repair my credit, so I am actually fairly sure I paid the bill. I just have no clue how to prove that three years later. Are there any rules that dictate the time they have to report this?How do I know it is worth disputing?

No. The FCRA only requires that information reported must not knowingly be inaccurate.There are no requirements that they must report, or how long after the fact they must report. What they must report is the month and year that the delinquency occured, as the CRA needs that date to assess when they must exclude the delinquency from credit reports they issue.

My screen has a red line and flickers when on for very long. What can I do?

A thin red (sometimes blue) line appears horizontally half way up my screen. When left on, the screen begins to flicker. At that point I turn it off for fear that it will do more damage. I have completely shut down and synced. The problem is still there. What can I do, short of sending it in for repairs?
Is this a common problem? Can it be fixed easily? If it has happened to you, what did you do and how long did repairs take.
BTW, this is an 8 GB 4th generation iPod Touch, purchased new through Apple last spring.

To rule out a software problem try one at a time in order:
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes on the computer
- Restore the iPod to factoery defaults/new iPod
If still problem, either make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store or call AppleCare (1-800-MY-APPLE) for warranty service.

Annoying Mail problem I've had for so long, please help!

Since as long as I can remember, whenever I attach a JPG, or EPS in Mail to a message for instance, if I send the email to a PC user, they always tell me that there wasn't an image attached??! Now I always have 'save windows friendly attachments' clicked and it's always under 5MB. It seems fine with PDF's.
They say it just appears as a red cross on their email programme. Quite a few different clients have reported this actually. Can anyone tell me what the problem is it's so annoying it's untrue, having to use YouSendIt for simple image sharing which Is shouldn't have to!!

Let's start with image files like JPEGs. You should send to those using PC and Outlook or Outlook Express using Plain Text, in addition to Windows Friendly. Rich Text Format can be problematic for them, and it likewise sometimes is to those using AOL and Lotus Notes (if there are any of those). If you use a Signature, make sure it is composed in Plain Text. Outlook and Outlook Express simply have problems with RTF, even when sending themselves since they use a proprietary version of RTF.
Insofar as .eps files, they can be problematic to other Mail users, and probably many others, unless zipped. The problem with them with someone using Mail, is when it tries to get them to View in Place -- Mail uses Preview to do that, and Preview can have problems with .eps files.

Need advice on a strong laptop for playing/ recording music / .wav files

I primarily use my laptop for music and enjoy making .wav files and hooking up to main stereo of house. I've been experimenting with my daughter's laptop but I had to buy a sound card that attaches to the laptop. Are there any good laptops out there with a good enough sound card available internally? On my desktop I had a similar problem and needed to upgrade sound card to get the "what U hear" option.

If you aren't getting sound from your HDMI port that means your digital audio output is incorrectly configured, the digital audio signal is not in a format that your HDTV or display can recognize (simply uncheck the Dolby Digital, DTS, or WMA Pro boxes in the properties panel for your digital audio output), or the port on your display doesn't accept digital audio or is set to use analog audio in the settings. If you look in your TV's manual or dig up the manual online, the specs page will tell you what digital audio formats it accepts if any. A lot of older HDTVs with HDMI, as well as a lot of the first monitors with it, didn't accept digital audio over HDMI because they were using repurposed DVI chipsets which could be modified for use with HDMI by swapping out the DVI connector with an HDMI jack due to the fact that HDMI shares it's base video protocols with DVI. All it takes is fifteen seconds to figure it out if you know what you're doing.
Ya, a mere few hours after I made that post, a friend hooked up his newer laptop to my TV via HDMI, and sure enough...there was sound. Me stands corrected.

How do I create a form in CS6 for Mac similar to a LiveCycle Designer form for Windows?

I have been creating quite a few forms in LiveCycle Designer at work (on Windows 7). I do a lot of scripting (99% JavaScript) in the background in order to make the form function as I need it to. I purchased CS6 for my Mac at home, and have a side project where I need to create a form with a lot of the bells and whistles that my work-related forms have. Since I can't use my work laptop for personal gain, I was wondering if anyone can help get me started with how to create a "LiveCycle Designer"-like form using CS6 (LiveCycle Designer is not offered for a Mac).
