No sound except from iTunes music from device....

My current setup is an Airport Express to connect to the net. Have an Apple TV connected to the living room TV. Both purchased last month from Apple and updated. We are able to connect our MacBook Pro and iPad to display on the TV. Am able to play and hear music via iTunes. Am connecting completely through WiFi.
2-weeks ago I was able to play and hear a YouTube video through the YouTube App on my iPad. But unable to repeat this with sound from the TV speakers. Again, no problem hearing music from iTunes. Why?
Also, similar issue with the MacBook Pro. Can play iTunes music and hear it. Able to mirror the imagery on screen to the TV but unable to hear sounds (ie videos playing through Safari).
Seeing on here that Dolby needs turned off. Did not work.
Any assistance is appreciated.

Thank you for your question. It sounds like you are having issues streaming audio from a couple devices to your Apple TV. I would start by restarting the Apple Tv with this info from the following article:

Restart your Apple TV by holding down Menu and Down on the Apple Remote for six seconds. The Apple TV may take a few minutes to restart.
If the issue persists I would next try the rest of this step from the same article:

Set the audio output mode for the Apple TV:
With your Apple Remote, select Settings > Audio & Video.
Change the Audio Output setting from Auto to 16 bit.
If the issue is not resolved I would next restore the Apple TV:

IPad is not making any sounds except for itunes, Pandora and Netflix. Need help.

From one day to another the iPad is not making any sounds (lock, keyboard, games) except for music on iTunes, Pandora and video on Netflix. All sounds are activated on the iPad's general settings. I have synced it and updated the OS to no avail. Any help or suggestions is gratly appreciated.

If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

The iphone is not a backup/storage device. They sync is one way - computer to iphone. The only exception is itunes purchases - File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

Itunes Music Files Lost

I recently bought a new PC. I had already copied all my files and folders from my old pc, including itunes, to a backup hard drive. When I copied back all my files to the new PC, all the files were there, except the itunes music. The library is there, but the music files are not. When I click on a song in the library I get an error saying that "The song cannot be used because the original file is not found, do you wish to locate it?". Now, I've read a number of forums saying that iTunes is prone to moving music when you change to a new system set up, and is not very good at finding it. However, I've searched high and low using the search tools in vista and I am fairly certain that the songs are not there. I have done the same searches in my backup drive and they are not there also. What could have happened?
I should point out that none of my music is purchased from Itunes, it is my entire CD collection of 2500+ songs which was ripped into itunes. It seems that apple is happy to suggest solutions for 'lost' music if you purchased from itunes, but there is little or no support for people who are using itunes to organise and hold a cd collection.
To make matters worse, I connected my Ipod to itunes without realising the songs were missing and now I have lost all the music from my Ipod as well.
I know that I have probably been stupid and done something wrong, but Itunes does not seem to be particularly user-friendly when it comes to moving it's files and folders from one Windows device to another. I have a strong feeling that I am going to have to start all over again, unless anyone can offer me some advice on how to get my old music files back?

wow i am in the middle of a very similar situation. i bought a new computer...had the store burn all itunes songs onto a disk, from old computer. put disk into new computer drive and downloaded all songs. now, they are all showing on my new computer harddrive but they won't play on itunes. when i click on a song, itunes comes up but nothing happens. i have done everything that the itunes online customer service dept can tell me to do. nothing is wrong with my new computer, the cd/dvd drive...the drivers, nothing. my new computer is now authorized with my itunes account. all of our ipods are now authorized with the new computer. the store where i got new computer says maybe the songs are licensed with my old computer. he says its all about where they were oribinally licensed. i have had it...spent HOURS trying to figure this out.

Lets get troubleshooting hey?
1) Slient button- make sure this is not showing orange on the left hand side of the iPhone
2) Take off any case/Screen protectors.
3) Go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset network settings> wait til the phone does its thing and then test by making a call.
4) Turn the iPhone off/on
5) Reset the iPhone- Hold the home button & the silver button on the top of the iPhone down at the same time until you see an Apple (10 seconds or so) then give it a minute-3 before it restarts and then test.
When you turn your volume up on the iPhone..... Does it think the headphones are in the iPhone??
6) Restore the iPhone and do not put any information on it after its done until you test it.
It needs to be tested with no data on it.

If you can't find it on any of your homescreens or app folders, nor via the spotlight search screen (swipe your first homescreen to the right), then have you got Settings > General > Restrictions > iTunes set 'off' ?

There is no sound when playing purchased music from iTunes

I have a 3rd generation 64GB IPOD touch. I am wondering how can I get it to play music again? I had my original iPod touch replaced with a refurbished one last year. It played my iTunes music at first but now it just will not play. I tried other music apps and the sound comes through. What can I try to do to get my iTunes music to play again on my IPOD? Yes. I would clarify your statement about the "shared" iTunes Library though. If you want each iOS device to have its own music library, you should create separate user accounts for them. Read:

There is no "adding" a device. Simply plug the iDevice into the computer. iTunes should automatically detect the device when it is connected.
iTunes can sync/manage as many iDevices as you want... there is no 1 device limit.

ITunes match remove music from device after period of time?

I've been having a problem with iTunes match where it seems to remove copies of my music from my iOS devices (iPhone 4s and iPad 2) every so often (seems to be about every 90 days). I've noticed though that any songs I bought off iTunes on the device or have downloaded from the purchased section off iTunes are not deleted. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a way to turn it off so files are kept?

Specifically:
Make sure iTunes Match is turned on.
Please see this article for information about turning on or adding a computer or device to iTunes Match.
If iTunes Match is already enabled on your computer or device, try turning iTunes Match off and then on again.
On your Computer choose Store > Turn Off iTunes Match, then Store > Turn On iTunes Match.
On your iOS device tap Settings > Music > iTunes Match Off, then Settings > Music > iTunes Match On.
And sadly, you apparently can delete a song from Match from your phone.
I am sorry, but no, you can't. If that were true, you would no longer see the song in your music library on your computer, and it would most likely be gone forever. The only way to remove an item from iTunes Match:
To delete an item from iCloud in iTunes
From a computer with iTunes Match enabled, open iTunes 10.5.1 or later on your computer. You can download the latest version of iTunes here.
Click Music on the left side of iTunes.
Select the item you would like to delete. Right-click the item and then choose Delete.
You will be asked to confirm this action.
If the item you want to delete exists in iTunes on your computer as well as in iCloud, click the checkbox to also delete the item from iCloud.
Match is a train wreck. They need to make it work simply and intuitively.
