No sound from Audigy 2 ZS Platinum (Drivers seem fi

I cant get any sound from my analog speakers, headphones, or optical connection. All signs in windows say the card is operating properly and has no conflicts. The card was working fine until I booted up my computer today and it said the creative drivers were no present when I tried to access the audio console. I cleaned off all the creative drivers in safe mode and reinstalled the drivers from the creative website. It appears to be functioning now on the surface, but I get no sound. Windows media player runs through mp3s but when I use Foobar 2000 the track loads but stops right before it should have sound output. (No error messages)Media Player classic will "play" tracks, but no output. Please assist.

Hi,
I am experiencing the exact same problem, and i have tried the suggestion of removing the card boot up, shut down and install the card again, but it is still quiet ??
Dxdiag seems to have the right info about the card but there is still no sound.
I did a revert to "last working configuration" and got it working again.
Now i have installed drivers according to the "Auto update" and now it is very quiet again.
Any more ide?s ? please.

  • Best Sound from Audigy 2 ZS

I have a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro and I want the best sound quality I can get from my Sound Card.
In the Creative Audio Console, I have a few questions on what changes I should make. For the Decoder, do I click "Use Built-in Decoder" or click "SPDIF Passthrough (Dolby Digital / D T S Digital Out). For Bit Accurate, do I check "Enable Bit Accurate Recording" because for S/PDIF-IN and CD Digital it says "Unkown or invalid signal". And for SPDIF I/O, for SPDIF Input Settings do I click "default", "Dolby Digital/DTS SPDIF-In decode" or "SPDIF Bypass". And for the finial thing, for Digital Output (PCM) Sampling Rate Settings, do I check "44. KhZ (Stereo Only), "48 Khz" or "96 KHz".
I really do not know what those things do and if it will make a big difference but I want to get the best sound quality out of my sound card. Also if there are any other 3rd party drivers or utlities that will boot my sound performance, please let me know. I am going to hold up on upgrading to the X-Fi until prices go down. Thanks.

    >For the Decoder, do I click "Use Built-in Decoder" or click "SPDIF Passthrough"
That would depend on the quality of the external decoder and how the decoder (ie. surround amplifier) and the card are connected. Since the Audigy is crippled in the sense that many of its features are not available through its SPDIF output - because it can't encode multichannel digital audio and won't digitally play 96 KHz Audio DVD for legal reasons - most users will have an analog connection between card and hifi components (e.g. 5.). In that case, "use built-in decoder" is the option to use. However, your receiver should have a true analog path, ie. the 5. or whatever inputs should not be digitized and go trough another DSP in the receiver. Otherwise, sound quality would suffer a bit from too many analog-digital-analog conversions. If your surround amplifier digitizes analog sources - as cheap models tend to do - a fully digital path might improve sound quality. But you will then be limited by the poor design of the Audigy's digital section. For example, sound of games will only be available in stereo over an optical cable (Video DVDs are not affected, their signal is transported correctly). Everyting considered, you might want to have two connections: optical for Video DVD pass-through ("external decoder"), analog for games and DVD Audio disks. Btw, the analog outs of the card sound very good, in my opinion.
    >(Dolby Digital / D T S Digital Out). For Bit Accurate, do I check "Enable Bit Accurate Recording" because for S/PDIF-IN and CD Digital it says "Unkown or invalid signal".
Forget bit-accuracy with Creative Audigy sounds cards, these cards resample anything to 48 khz (if the central processor on the card is used in any way, shape or form). For bit-accuracy, you should get a different card. If your source is a CD, don't read the CD through the sound card. Don't even connect CD dri've and sound card - to remove a source of noise - but let Windows record disks digitally over the IDE bus. DVB/DVD is 48 KHz (or?), so CDs should be the primary victim of resampling. If you encode a CD into MP3, encode to 48KHz, ie. let the encoder to the resampling.
    >And for the finial thing, for Digital Output (PCM) Sampling Rate Settings, do I check "44. KhZ (Stereo Only), "48 Khz" or "96 KHz".
I would use 48 KHz because that's the cards working frequency.

  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum with Vista 64

0Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum with Vista 64Y Hi
I'm considering buying a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum (with front panel) off ebay, but first I'd like to know if certain features will be compatible with my system. I'm running Vista Home Basic 64bit (hardware is an Asus P5Q-E, Q6600, 2GB of RAM, ATI Radeon HD4850, etc). I'll be using this card for my PC's 5. surround sound system (using the stereo outputs), and more importantly, recording some music. I want to achieve this by using the optical S/PDIF port, as my bass guitar effects board has an S/PDIF output and I've got an S/PDIF cable. I'd also like to use the Line In and Mic inputs. The driver before the latest one for this card said that there was no S/PDIF passthrough for Vista. Has the latest driver got everything I need fixed, so I can just plug it in, install the drivers and then be happily recording through these three inputs?
    Thanks for the help?

I am brand new to this message system but I am so desperate for help I thought I would try it. After reading lots of comments I find that my problem may be more the rule than the exception. I have an Audigy @ Platinum card and all I ever get from it is crackling and popping. I have been around and around with Creative support but nothing they tell me results in a fix. I am so disgusted at this point that I am ready to just trash the whole thing. I have gone through the BIOS and checked so many settings its a shame. Still crackling and popping. I NEED SPECIFIC ANSWERS FROM SOMEBODY...not just the generic flip the wingle wangle to port xyz and move this to that. here has got to be an answer to this maddening problem. The other thing is that now I can't get my MIDI keyboard to play back. I must have turned something off in the set up process but now I have no idea what to do.
If anyone has any solid answers for me PLEASE come forward with them before I kill someone!

  • Microphone Issue - Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro Audio C

Hey there, sorry to post but I've got a little issue which I'm sure is me being stupid but its racking my head so here it comes. I have recently started using talk programs such as vent, skype blah blah to speak to people back home and since moving abroad I have found that now I need the mic to contact these people (which it used to fine before I arri'ved on foreign soil). On clicking on volume control and advance or properties I have nothing in recording for mic and this is where im lost. If I enable the mic on any of the programs people are hearing whatever happens to be coming out of the computer speaks such as games or a movie etc. i've just tried a full removal and reinstallation of the sound drivers for the model in my comp (Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro Audio Card).
All my mates are saying surely you cant lose mic from the volume control but yet its gone and I have no idea how to reactivate it. People seemt o think the card is buggered but it seems fine with everything else I fire out.
Any help on how stupid I'm being would be great.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Capturing laserdisc AC3 signal with Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum

I'm considering converting my laserdisc collection over to DVD.
As far as PC hadware is concerned, I have the ATI All-In-Wonder 9800 Pro and the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro.
    My system in a 3.2G P4 on a Intel D875PBZ board w/ 2Gig of memory. Connected are 3 dri'ves, (2) 250G SATA dri'ves and () old 250G IDE dri've that I keep archi'ves on.
The laserdisc player has the following:
AC-3 Bit Stream / PCM Optical Output AC-3 Bit Stream / PCM Coaxial Output PCM Coaxial Output
I was planning to use the optical input of the soundcard but was unsure what to use to capture the digital stream to capture the entire surround channel info. Normally audio is captured as an uncompressed WAV and then converted to AC3 which to me is a wasted step since it's only going to wind up as AC3 again
I've used Virtual dub in the past to capture TV broadcasts, but I seem to be at a loss on this current venture. Any assistance will be great

Alright, let me just double check...
As long as the output from my laserdisc is 48K then things should work fine and I should receive the entire unadulterated stream, no data padding or modification. If it's not 48k then it won't. This is as long as I save it as 2. PCM audio stream
The audiobitrate for AC3 should be at 384k, and this will be preserved using the above method?
From what I'm reading, this unprocessed stream should sound like white noise. Once processed by cooledit , Soundforge or besweet I should have the DD 5. soundtrack intact and not a 2 channel AC stream?
Sorry if I am rephrasing things but I just want to be absolutly certain when I start this project .

  • Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 zs Platinum - Smash Party Toda

I have recently spent over $0 thousand dollars on upgrading every computer in my building to Quadcore 64bit vista systems. The only component that remained the same were the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 zs Platinum dri'ves that every system has. I have been up for 2 days trying to figure out why the external dri've will not work at all, for any system. Everyone in the office is giving me grief over the new stuff because of thing, nobody can get their mics to work, or anything on the external dri've to function.
After reading up on the Dan.k story, and creatives deliberate attempts to be as difficult as possible, even to the point of charging me AGAIN, to make a product work (alchemy), I have decided later today were having a little get together at lunch where I will be instructing my employees to remove their sound cards, and smash them. Hey, I can afford it. Its the principle of the matter that bothers me. I used a valid email obviously to get on this forum. Shoot me an email if you don't believe it creative, and ill send you pictures when we're finished.
I have used ONLY creative products for sound since the 90s. I have at home, a closet full of creative products that I have personally upgraded from over the years. I have been a loyal customer for over a decade. Thankfully I found the dan. K story before I finished finding out weather or not the newest creative products work with vista, because Ive had my Credit Card out for 0 hours now just trying to find the right buy. Creative, you lost it big time.

As an IT manager, I'd be more inclined to find out who made the decision to implement this change. Then find all the people who were responsible for deploying all of these systems out to users without testing to insure that they worked. All of these people are responsible for countless numbers of resource hours by introducing a non-tested system into your company's user community. Then, I'd introduce them all to the ever increasing base of the unemployed. The $0K hardware investment that you claim to have made is only the beginning, the overall cost of lost human resource hours will prove to be far more significant.

Yes it is called trying to install the wrong driver for your card. Will work much better if you try installing the correct one,
    SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_000.exe
Also helps if you click on the "Show Details" link on the download page, then you would see that the one you tried to install doesn't support your card,
    Requirements:
Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows Vista 32-bit, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 or Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004
Sound Blaster Audigy Value/SE/LS, or Sound Blaster Li've! 24-bit audio devices
whereas the correct driver shows the following,
This download supports the following audio devices only:
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy including Platinum and Platinum eX series
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 including Platinum, Platinum eX, and Value series
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS including Platinum and Platinum Pro series

Hi,? I have the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro and my Ad_Link cable has been damaged. I have contacted every on line auction house and everyone in and out of the United States and no one has this cable available. What I am looking for now is one of 2 things;? the specs of this cable (which is not listed in any of the documentation that came with the product, nor is it on the web-site, nor does Customer Support seem to have this information), or a comparable cable that will work in it's place.
Thanks for any help that anyone can offer.

  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro Prob

Recently I've purchased the Creative Power Pack Pro 7., it included the <SPAN class=textbluebold>Creative GigaWorks 7. S750
<SPAN class=textbluebold>speakers, and <SPAN class=textbluebold>Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro soundcard. I've installed my Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro card and setup my Sound Blaster GigaWorks S750 speakers but so far after many attempts haven't gotten them to work. I've tried all updates off the Creative site and gone through the cards settings. For some reason in the speaker settings it only lists Headphones, 2., 4. and 5. speaker settings, leaving out 7.. I've checked all plugins and hookups, and am stuck for now. I have a brand new Sony Vaio computer, so i know that my computer is not the problem. I read through all the forms and I was only able to find one other question like mine, one person answered saying that the <SPAN class=textbluebold>Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro is not compatible with 7. speakers. I have no clue why Creative would sell the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro and GigaWorks S750 7. speakers if they are not compatible with each other. Someone please help me. Thanks.

  • Mic2 front panel of sound blaster audigy 2 zs platinum still not worki

    anyone..... please help!!!
I have a sound blaster audigy 2 zs platinum, everything is hooked up perfectly including all power cable, and connectors to the front dri've bay. I have a samson q7 microphone that is connected using xlr female to /4" plug to the mic2 jack but I got no input signal. I then tried also using just a /4" to /8" to the back mic port of the PCI, no signal either. My friend said this mic doesn't need any other power like a phantom power or anything
    can you please help me!
    X

If you're using a dynamic microphone, the Audigy 2 ZS dri've bay has a jumper which you can change for it to support dynamic microphones instead of electret microphones. However once this is done you won't be able to use electret mics until you've changed the jumper setting back.

So here is my dilema. Up untill about 4 days ago everything was working fine with my sound system. I have the Logitech speakershooked up to my audigy 2 zs along with my xbox 360 in the optical in on the front plate. So like i said about 4 days ago i started playing a movie on my computer and i have the ac3 codec installed on my computer with comunity codec pack and i know that you could say that those 2 things could be my problem i know enough to know that that probably isnt. So when i played the movie and when to the ac3 codec and turned on dolby decoding so that i would decode it to all my speakers everything worked fine. Then when i turned on spdif decoding my center speaker?started to crackle so i figured it was just becuase i was useing spdif and dolby decoding at the same time. so i turned that off and then went to go play my xbox 360 in which i have pluged into the optical in part on the front plate. Everything had always worked fine for that i have dolby digital decodeing on for the audigy. So i started to play a game i realized that i center speaker was crackling on there too. So i started to realize that no matter what i did the center speaker was crackling. I even changed out the center and sub stereo jack on the card for the front left and right and then they started to crackle in that spot. So i dont know what the hell is going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated i was thinking of restoring my computer but i dont know whether that is necessary. I also dont want to have to go out and by the x-fi elite pro tomarrow unless I absolutely have to.Message Edited by TasteOfChaos on 0-0-20080:02 PM

  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Zs Platinum Pro sound distorti

Hi,First I have tried searching the forum but not found anything helpfull. My setup:?Soundblaster Audigy 2 Zs Platinum ProAsus K8V-VMCambridge megaworks 550 (or similiar name) speakers?anyway, i've just put the above motherboard in as my old one died. Both motherboards have had the same distortion problem. I used to be able to combat it by using the CD provided and put more sound through the back speakers as by default it seems to put everything through the front. This would lessen the distortion and make listening to things bare able but my onboard sound would still be better then my dedicated card. Has anyone found a proper fix for this as a lot of people seem to have trouble with this card?
I would like to add I had this problem from day !! and for a audio setup that cost me ?400 that shouldnt be happening!!! (a long time ago)

  • Very, very low sound from MSI K8N SLI Platinum

The sound from my MSI K8N SLI Platinum nForce 4 is so low that i must set the volume control on max and the speakers on max to hear anything. I tried other speakers with the same result. The speakers are amplified.
    What can i do?

Well for a start you could search the forum as this problem is now well known. I'm not getting at you but I know how frustraing it is wanting someone to respond with an answer, and you don't have to wait if the problem has already been discussed!
The problem is that MSI decided to specify that the 24 pin supply must have -5v to support the creative chip. This is in contradiction to atx 2.2, and other PSU specs for 24pin supplys, which say the pin in question is NC (no connection).
What you need is a dual standard 20/24 pin supply.
Theres is a FAQ about this on the diamond forum, but I'm not sure if unregistered Platinum SLI users can read them anymore!
According to the FAQ MSI are promising US diamond users the chance to RMA their diamond boards when modified boards whcih don't require the -5v supply are availble. This isn't much use to us european Platinum SLI users.
I have a Tagan 480w which is dual standard 20/24 pin supply.

  • No sound from Audigy SE ca

I am running XP SP2. We install the SE cards without any errors. Device mananger and the Sound options from control panel all show everything is hunky dorry. Yet I can't get any sound from the card. I have tried using both digital and analog speakers. We have removed and uninstalled the driver several times. We have tried many different SE cards in many different PCs. Our previous card was the Audigy Value and it worked fine. One of the oddball indicators that something is wrong (besides no sound) is that when you go to the sound panel and try to play sounds (like the asterisk beep) the play button changes to stop (as it should when a sound is playing), but the button never returns to the play icon (as it should when the sound is complete). This leads me to think that there is something wrong with the driver, but all the driver changes I try result in the same thing.

Hi there,I'm having the same problem as you with Win 2003 server on an Asus DSBF-DE server mainboard. Is your SB0570 Audigy SE plugged in a PCI X slot ( not a PCIe slot, tottaly? different interface ) ??Did some experimenting? since the Audigy SE (SB0570) is working in an Asus DSBV-D server mainboard with Win 2000 server and Win XP. The SB0570 working in the DSBV-D server board is plugged into a 5 volt PCI slot. It has PCIX slots but I can not experiment with those server systems. From my experiments, it appears that the SB0570 card does not work in PCIX slots. These are 3.3 volt PCI slots. The SB0570 does have the extra notch in the card-edge connector that suggest that the SB0570 is a uni'versal 3.3/5 volt PCI card and should work in a PCIX slot. I even installed Win XP pro on the DSBF-DE mainboard systen and it failed in the same way you have experienced. Talking with Asus Tech support, they said, according to their specifications,?that the SB0570 Audigy SE sound card is a PCI (5 volt) only card and will not work in a 3.3 volt PCIX slot. I searched the creative site for the specifications on the Audigy SE card and it does not say that it is a uni'versal 3.3/5 volt PCI card even though it will plug into a PCIX slot in your mainboard. I did find a European distributor that actually says it is a 3.3/5 volt? PCI interface. Since the Asus DSBV-D server board does not have a 5 volt PCI slot, we are at a standstill and may have to purchase a more expensi've PCIe sound card, most likely not Creative brand.
