No sound from earphone

have tried several different earphones, have cleaned jack on ipod but no sound    sound works without earphone plug it in no sound  help please

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted. Done
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.
Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following will replace the jack for less. Google for more.

  • Unable to get sound from earphone Jack HP G60 348 CA

I have an HP G60 348 CA, Originaly Vista , upgraded to Windows 7- 64 bit.
Even when I plug in earphones or speakers in jack sound only comes out on the notebook speakers. Is this more likely a hardware problem or a software problem. Used to work fine and then nothing.
    What do you recommend?
I only see speakers and HDMI in playback devices. No other items. I used to have many things on the mixer and now I only see device column and applications column.
Also I do not see and cannot reinstall Realtek program if it has something to do with all this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey paucoin,
I'm sorry you're running into this audio issue. This seems like a software problem. There are a couple of things you can try.
In Playback Devices, which item listed is the Default (has the green checkmark)? Try setting Speakers as the default by selecting it and clicking the Set Default button.
You can also uninstall and reinstall the Audio driver.
    1. Click the Start button
    2. Type 'device'
    3. Click Device Manager
    3. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
    4. Double-click on Realtek Audio to open Properties
    5. Click the Driver tab and let me know what version number is shown there.
    6. Click the Uninstall button and when prompted, Restart.
The computer will restart and Windows will detect and reinstall the missing driver on its own. Let me know the driver version number and the results of those steps when you get a chance

  • Sound from earphones (imac 2011)

Kind time of day.  I had a problem with my imac.
In case of connection of earphones directly to the port for the earphones, the monoblock which was on the back panel, in earphones there is a loud noise ("buzzs"). Only the left earphone buzzs. Whether there are guesses that it can be?

    T4,
Then the pods that you have seem not to electrically match with your Mac, as the others that you tried seemed ok, am I right in this understanding?
On the iPhone it has a very unique plug configuration that seems to set specifically for the iPhone, because it is a 4 conductor connector (one is for the microphone) that may make other pods not work properly. (yes this is an Apple thing, AAAAARRRRGGGG!!!!)
But that would then confirm that there is not anything wrong with your Mac, as those Apple pods are for the iPhone, I guess both good and bad news.
I don't use my iPhone to listen to music, nor do I use pods either, unless the artist I am working with is, then I use the same make and model so I can "hear what they hear".
I do pro audio for a living and I can understand this "crosstalk issue with the 4th connector"
But without getting too technical,  it would seem your Mac is just fine, which is a good thing.
I would think that the newer Macs will be more compatible with the Apple iPhone pods, but they all seem to have their issues with the switching system...for years now!
Hope this helps you understand this "FRUIT FLY"
My suggestion is to use "regular headphones/ear pods with your Mac and the Apple iPhone pods with the phone. )I only have ever used the iPhone pods with the iPhone when I'm driving, and with only the iPhone. I have much better sounding pods/phones that I use to "ACTUALLY' listen to music with....and it a'int MP3/4
    Peace SJP

  • No sound from earphones on iPad 2, iOS8.02

  • No sound from NB 100, 12A inbuilt speakers.

The sound has recently gone from the speakers in the netbook. OS is windows xp sp2. There does'nt appear to be anything wrong with the device driver in device manager and Sound settings appear to be set alright in the the sound and audio devices properties dialog, I have selected laptop mono speakers as default and deflaut audio is set as realtek HD audio, but there is only sound from earphones when plugged in. I went through the windows sound troubleshooter completing all except the bios settings. I do not have skype or VOIP software installed on the netbook.  Any advise how to return the sound to the Netbook speakers?.
    Regards
    Je11

All you need to do is to remove Conexant HD smartaudio 221 driver.
This driver is causing my laptop speaker going silent.
    You go to device manager,
    Click Sound, video game controller.
Click sound driver properties to "ROLL BACK TO PREVIOUS SOUND DRIVER"
The new sound driver should be "High Definition Audio Device"
This driver should bring back your sound from internal speakers.

  • Only getting sound from the left earphone

I changed headphones to make sure its not a headphone problem but there is no sound from the right earphone. If I press the connector deeper into the socket then both the earphones work fine, however, I have to keep it pressed down with my finger. Does not work of its own accord. I have had it for 13 months now...any tips anyone?

I have had a the same problem, only its my left headphone that doesnt seem to work.
I've tried using dozens of headphones and speakers but the left speaker or headphone never works.
I have found a cheecky way of getting some sound through however. If you push the ipod jack up at an angle to the roof of the ipod jack hole then you should find that it works. Just press down on the ipod jack (nib bit close to the speaker hole).
Only problem with this is that you have to hold the ipod to listen to it and it can become quite tiresome. As soon as you let go it will stop sound going through that speaker.
I did also find out that this happens to quite a few people and most commonly is caused when dirt (e.g. sand) gets into the ipod jack hole.

  • No sound from left earphone

I don't get any sound from one of the earphones. Is there any way I can check if it is the nano or the earphones?

many thanks. Have tried the earphones with my notebook. The left volume was very weak, whilst the right was OK. The same happened whether I played iTunes or Real Player. I guess a good excuse to get better earphones...:-)

You have your mute button on.  In Settings check to see if you have Lock Orientation checked or Mute checked on the right hand side.  If you have Mute checked, all you need to do is click the mute button above the volume control buttons on the upper right hand side of your iPad.  If you have Lock Orientation checked in settings, you double click your home button and the most recent apps will appear.  Swipe your finger to the right until the Mute icon appears on the left side.  Touch it and you will unmute system sounds.

    Hi @satyakam
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are enjoying your sound  from everything today. I am happy to help.
If you have a sound application installed along with your sound driver, then I would check the settings for the speakers and headphone in that application.
Then I would make your headphone the default device when it is plugged in.
To make headphone as the default device
    1.    Click on Start; Go to Control Panel.
    2.    Click on Sound.
    3.    Switch to Recording.
    4.    Select your microphone/headset as the default device.
    5.    Save the changes by clicking on OK.
Also you can Uninstall and re-install your audio device drivers, to do that:
    1.    Click on Start; in the start search type “devmgmt.msc” without quotes and press Enter.
    2.    Expand Sound, Video and Game controllers.
    3.    Right click on the audio component and then click uninstall.
With the driver uninstalled then download and re-install the driver from:
HP Pavilion g4-1121tx Notebook PC Drivers
Just be sure to select the correct operating system from the drop down, and click next, which will refresh the list of drivers below.
Let me know if that helped at all.

  • Sound icon disabled no sound from internal speakers

When I start my MacBook Pro I can hear the familiar "apple start" sound from the sepeakers. But about an hour ago the sound icon on the top bar is disabled (grey), no sound is coming from the computer speakers. In Settings > Sound, the volume bar is at max level, but also disabled. External speakers and headphones work fine.
    What is this?

With nothing connected into the earphone jack, do you see a red glo inside the earphone jack?
If yes, then try insertting and removing an earphone plug, several times, to see if you can get the red glo to stop.
Else you might need to make an appointment with an Apple Approved Service Provider.
