No sound from embeded media in IE/Firef

My soundcard seems to be working fine as far as opening music files or videos etc. The only time I have a problem is when hearing embedded sound in either Internet Explorer or Firefox; Say for example I go to look at a video on video.google.com there's no sound, or if I go to a webpage with sound playing in the background it can't be heard.
I didn't have the problem with my previous card (SBLi've), and has only happened since I installed my new X-Fi. Since it happens with both IE and Firefox, I would imagine it's more than just a browser problem. Is there anything anyone can recommend to help solve this problem?
BTW, I just finished reinstalling and that didn't seem to do the trick.
Any help would be great appreciated.

FThanks for the quick reply! I have the X-Fi XtremeGamer, I unplugged the rear speakers and plugged headphones into that jack (I'm assuming that the rear speaker output is also know as line out 2), I had CMSS enabled and when I played a music file, I did hear it through the headphones.

  • K8N Diamond - sound from PCTV media center 300i

    I have the following mainboard: K8N Diamond (NVIDIA, nFORCE, 4 SLI Chipset Based) - which I am very happy with.
    I am watching TV on my PC using: PCTV Media Center 300i.
    I have not yet found a way to hear the sound from the TV. There is an internal audio cable (4-pin) from the PCTV card which should be connected to the sound card. But I do not where to connect on the mainboard.
    Can anyone help ?

    I'm not sure as I don't have anything plugged in on JCD1, everything is working for me without this cable.   Of course at the moment, I don't have a TV card either.
    I'll see what I can find out, you may want to send an email to the MSI technical support.   This is just a public forum and I don't think they monitor it.

  • Removing sound from embedded video

    I have a flash video in a slide that I would like to remove the sound for. I have an mp3 file with audio that I want to go with the video rather than the audio from the actual video. How do I remove the audio from the embedded video?
    Thanks

    Hi there
    There is no way I'm aware of to do this using only Captivate.
    I'm thinking you will find that the only way to do this is by using some Video Editing software. Perhaps Premiere?

  • No Sound from speakers but Headphones work on HP All-In-One 23-p142

    I recently purchased my computer HP Pavillion 23-p142 with Windows 8.1 64bit on July 9, 2015 and everything was golden...couldn't be happier with it for my needs. Now, in just the last few days, the sound doesn't work at all. No sound from Windows Media Player, Youtube etc. Absolutley nothing. Not even system sounds. I've tried troubleshooting tips such as going into Computer Management> Services> Windows Audio and restarting that service...still no luck. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Realtek HD Audio drivers several times and it worked on the very first attempt then the sound went away again after a few hours. I'm at a loss for what to try next...Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.  PS. I forgot to mention my headphones work fine. And here are some screenshots of devices...if that helps with anything.

    Hello , Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I have read your post on how you are not able to get sound from the speakers of your desktop computer, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter! Do you speakers work on another computer? Is there any software you need to install to properly configure your speakers on your system? In the meantime, I recommend following the steps in this document on No Sound from the Speakers (Windows 8). This should help return the sound to your computer using your speakers. I also recommend returning your system back to a previous restore point before the issue occurred. This can be done by following the steps in this document on Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8).
    Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, as well as the requested information above. I look forward to your reply!

  • Sound Blaster Live 24.bit LD No sound from online TV or Ra

    [color="#ff0000"]I had the new Sound Blaster Li've 24.bit installed in my computer, at first I had trouble getting sound out of my back two speakers but after the fourth day, I finally got that figured out. Now I am having problems with my tv and radio online. I am using winFM 5.3 and I can not get any sound though my speakers. I get sound from Windows Media Player or either CD/DVD player. I know it has to be something really simple but I have yet to find the problem. Can someone please help me.Message Edited by determinedone on 03-02-20060:2 AM

    Does the software have any options in relation to audio, such as selecting the audio device you want to use?
    If Windows Media Player and other applications work, then it's likely the card is working fine. Check another application if you can, such as WinAmp, to see if that works.

  • I get no 5.1 surround sound from apple tv2 for any media

    I have apple tv2 and think its great. However I have it connected to my ken wood surround sound system and only get sound from 2 speakers for all media including movies, netflix, my iTunes library and airplay from my iPhone or ipad.
    There is no problem with connections and the same fibre optic cable supports 5.1 in the same port of my ken wood when it it connected to my DVD player.
    My Dolby in settings is set to on.
    Any suggestions

    You really need to specify exactly what imac you have.  Current ones I believe have an optical (out) and in and I think that can be combined with usb to produce multi-channel sound.  But it's just an academic exercise if you don't have the optical.
    Also, google "5.1 audio on imac" for lots of hits on this topic.

  • Is there a way to control the sounds coming from a website in a tab or window for Firefox so that I can listen to music from a media player without hearing the website's sounds?

    I want to listen to Youtube or music on Winamp, and also play an online game. But the sounds from the game are distracting and I want to turn them off or make it much quieter. Can I control sound output from a particular tab or windor?

    Jake,
    There are several options here.
    I would suggest using your own code for datalogging. The datalogging you are referring to is primarily for debug, and one shot datalogs of front panel indicators (and controls?), not including graphs, etc.
    If you go to the file functions, you will see a menu for datalogging. These functions will allow you to save your data, as you need it, simply, and in a compact format.
    I recommend opening the datalog file, doing all your file operations, and closing the file before the program is complete. There are several examples of this in the examples database.
    Good luck

  • Exporting OMF without embeded media?

    Does anyone know if there is a way to export an OMF file from FCP which does not contain embeded audio media and only data referring to the original source media?
    Thanks for any pointers,
    Daniel

    I've checked out the automaticduck website, and it only seems to be able to export OMF with embeded media. If anybody knows if it can in practice perform the function of exporting session data as OMF (without embeded audio media), please let me know.
    If not, it's not a bad idea for somebody to implement. Using OMFs in this manner is standard practice in the film industry.
    Sound editors don't have receive gigs of audio data every time there is a change in the edit. All they need is a copy of all the source audio files once, then session data OMFs are sent to them as changes occur (via e-mail cause their small). It's very practical, saves a lot of time and HD space.

    Did you create a New Project with the AVCHD - 5.1 SS Audio Preset?
    If so, then the Audio should go onto Audio 1 Track. If not, then it will go to a higher numbered Audio Track, and you will need to scroll the Timeline vertically to see that Audio Clip.
    Also, when you Imported that Clip, did you allow it to Conform the Audio? This ARTICLE will give you some background.
    Good luck,

  • How can I stop a sound from looping so it plays only once each time the up key is pressed?

    Hi there here is my code, the basis is it is playing a mp3 from my library.
    Basically as the topic suggests I only want the sound to play once each time the UP arrow key is pressed. At the moment when you hold the up arrow down the sound keeps triggering and looping and gets really loud and noisy.
    Here is my code for my game:
    package com.chasegame.components
              import flash.display.MovieClip;
              import flash.display.Stage;
              import flash.events.Event;
              import com.tech.utils.KeyObject;
              import flash.ui.Keyboard;
              import flash.media.Sound;
              import flash.media.SoundChannel;
              public class SpaceShip extends MovieClip
                        private var key:KeyObject;
                        private var speed:Number = 0.3;
                        private var rotateSpeed:Number = 5;
                        private var vx:Number = 0;
                        private var vy:Number = 0;
                        private var friction:Number = 0.95;
                        private var shipSound:roar = new roar();
                        private var shipSoundChannel:SoundChannel = new SoundChannel();
                        public function SpaceShip () : void
                                            key = new KeyObject(stage);
                                            addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, loop, false, 0, true);
                        public function loop(e:Event) : void
                                            if (key.isDown(Keyboard.UP))
                                                           vy += Math.sin(degreesToRadians(rotation)) * speed;
                                                           vx += Math.cos(degreesToRadians(rotation)) * speed;
                                                           shipSoundChannel = shipSound.play();
                             else
                                                           vy *= friction;
                                                           vx *= friction;
                                  if (key.isDown(Keyboard.RIGHT))
                                            rotation += rotateSpeed;
                                  else if (key.isDown(Keyboard.LEFT))
                                            rotation -= rotateSpeed;
                                  y += vy;
                                  x += vx;
                                  if (x > stage.stageWidth)
                                            x = 0;
                                  else if (x < 0)
                                            x = stage.stageWidth;
                                  if (y > stage.stageHeight)
                                            y = 0;
                                  else if (y < 0)
                                            y = stage.stageHeight;
                        public function degreesToRadians(degrees:Number) : Number
                                  return degrees * Math.PI / 180;

    If you want the sound to only play once when the key is pressed then you don't want to have it in the ENTER_FRAME event handler like you have it.  It is starting new sounds at the frame rate of your file the way you have it now.
    Try having an event listener dedicated to a KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN event where you detect when the UP key gets pressed and use that to trigger playing the sound.

  • No sound from Audigy 2 ZS Platinum (Drivers seem fi

    I cant get any sound from my analog speakers, headphones, or optical connection. All signs in windows say the card is operating properly and has no conflicts. The card was working fine until I booted up my computer today and it said the creative drivers were no present when I tried to access the audio console. I cleaned off all the creative drivers in safe mode and reinstalled the drivers from the creative website. It appears to be functioning now on the surface, but I get no sound. Windows media player runs through mp3s but when I use Foobar 2000 the track loads but stops right before it should have sound output. (No error messages)Media Player classic will "play" tracks, but no output. Please assist.

    Hi,
    I am experiencing the exact same problem, and i have tried the suggestion of removing the card boot up, shut down and install the card again, but it is still quiet ??
    Dxdiag seems to have the right info about the card but there is still no sound.
    I did a revert to "last working configuration" and got it working again.
    Now i have installed drivers according to the "Auto update" and now it is very quiet again.
    Any more ide?s ? please.

  • No Sound from Old T61 Now Updated to Windows 7 SP1

    I'm getting no sound (neither System Sounds nor from Windows Media Player) from either the speakers or the phone jack on this 6459-CTO.  The speaker control icon in the notification area indicates sound levels on both the source and the speaker in each case.  Device Manager says the device is working properly.  I've tinkered with all the sound setting I can find to no avail.  Can somebody give me troubleshooting instructions to test the hardware itself and, if that is working, to track down the problem?
    The following are details that you may not need:
    I started out with Windows XP and, at least at some point, had sound, though I usually kept it muted with the on-keyboard buttons.  I just did a clean install of Windows 7 SP1 from an OEM installation disk.  I know I was hearing the "Windows Startup Sound" on reboots and couldn't stand it, so I disabled it by enabling Local Group Policy Editor/Local Computer Policy/Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/System/Logon/Turn off Windows Startup Sound.  Then I ran ThinkVantage System Update, which among other things, installed Hotkey Features Integration and SoundMax Audio SoftwareSupport, including the driver ("SoundMax Integrateed Digital HD Audio" version 6.10.2.7255 by Analog Devices).  I started fretting when the on-keyboard speaker-control buttons didn't work (see thread at http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkVantage-Technologies/Lenovo-Volume-Mute-Keys-Don-t-Work-after-Clean... but eventually discovered this more serious problem.
    Now I've uninstalled the Lenovo-provided SoundMax driver under Programs and Features and allowed Windows to replace it with a Microsoft driver (version 6.1.7601.17514).  No change.  Any other suggestions?

    P.S. -- I remembered that I have a bootable CD of Linux Mint (suggested long ago by ajkula66 to debug a networking problem), but I don't really know how to use it nor whether it would constitute a valid test of the sound hardware.  Mint boots up fine, appears to find the sound hardware, and can seemingly control the volume; but I don't know how to make it create any sounds.  For example, it has a built-in media player but no sample tracks on the boot CD to play on it (and of course I can't try an audio CD because the drive is in use by Mint).  I also think I can see how to turn on the default "alert" sound, but I don't know what Linux would recognize as an "alert" condition in order to make the sound.  Again, any help would be much appreciated. -- JCW2

  • Can't get sound from Insignia BT headphones w/ BT-equipped dv3t

    Both are brand-new, I charged the headphones and downloaded the updated drivers from www.broadcom.com (actually Vista seemed to do it automatically) and the device is paired but I can't get any sound out of it (it's turned on:-)).
    Under the Playback tab in the Sound control panel there are three items:
    Speakers: Bluetooth Hands-free Audio
    Speakers and Headphones: IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
    Independent Headphones: IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
    All say they are working, but when I test the sound of each one I only get sound from the notebook speakers using the second option. The only weird thing I can think of is that I had the USB adapter plugged in when I downloaded the drivers, so maybe it downloaded drivers designed to work through USB? (I can't get sound with the adapter plugged in, though, either).
    Any suggestions welcome, I really want to get this to work and not have to send the headphones back to seller (which is what Insignia tech support told me to do).
    P.S. I know I have BT turned on because I'm also connected to a wireless home network, they go together.

    Hello again,
    oops, I must have missed your last message... sorry for that!
    I have to say, that I don t have my digital sound system that long, that I can answer this question for sure. However...
    You re right, that it should be possible, although I wasn t able to find a way to do that... yet... Somewhere (don t know if it was this forum or another place) I ve read, that the SPDIF support for Windows Vista isn t that nice at this time... perhaps a new driver will solve this
    Furthermore... I don t use the Media Center that much. So I don t even know if there is any option to set the output device (within the application Media Center). That would be important to realize "the best of both worlds". Explanation: If you want headphones support, you (always) have to leave the Speakers device as default. Other applications (such as Winamp,...) allow us to set the output device (in Winamp for example you can set it under the preferences Output -> Directsound device) to the SPDIF device, although we have selected "Speakers" as default in the control panel... nice, isn t it's For sure... if it would work...
    That way you don t get a(n) AC3/DTS signal via SPDIF... so, if you use Windows Vista (I can't answer your question related to other operating systems, because of my newly purchased system -> I haven t used it on XP) the only way that I know ( til now) is to select the SPDIF device as default...

  • Why no sound from DVD drive H/Phone sockets ?

    Hello again folks,
    Just a little niggle here. I have just noticed that I am getting no sound from my 2 DVD Drive front headphone sockets. One is an MSI the other a LiteOn, both have Headphone sockets and volume controls but not a sound issues forth, even though i have no probs getting sound from my mobo audio outs and the S bracket. Any idea of which box i haven't ticked ??

    Interisting case, it must be a compatibility issue.
    Test it with other DVD movies, run it with different software, i.e QuickPlay, Windows Media Player, VLC etc.
