  • No sound from internal speakers or headphones when using ART Tube interface

Hi - can anyone help with this...
I have no sound fromthe internal speakers or headphones when using my new ART Tube USB interface - I get a nice loud recording level from the ART but cant monitor - in Logic 7.2
Audio hardware interface in logic 7.2 is set to USB Codec - just like the ART manual states
And the SOUND control panel is set to speakers/headphones
    But no love...
    Any comments welcomed
    Si2

By default, OSX will only let you have one interface active at any one time - so if you specify the ART as your interface to get sound in, you don't have access to your regular interface to listen to it.
But there is a workaround - open the Audio/MIDI Setup utility, create a new "Aggregate Device", and add both your required audio interfaces to it.
Now, back in Logic, select the aggregate device you created as the audio device, and now all your inputs and outputs from both interfaces are available - the aggregate device acts as one big interface containing both your hardware interfaces.

  • No sound from internal speakers when headphones NOT inserted

iphone thinks headphone connected when they are not.  can't get sound from internal speakers

    Does this help? http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/phone/

  • Macbook Pro no sound from internal speakers or headphones

I have a macbook pro (mavericks). There is no audio coming from the internal speakers and when headphones are plugged in there is still no sound. There is no red light coming from the headphone port either. Any advice?

Try plugging the headphones in and out 10-12times, while toggling the volume and mute buttons.
Have you tried cutting the end off a cotton swab and GENTLTLY swabbing the the headphone swabbing the port 9;00 clock to 3:00 clock, there is a micorswitch that some times gets "hung up" and this can free up the witch.
Also you can try going to to applications/utilities/ Audio MIDI Set up. app and see if you can select built in there.
To get more aggressive you can try these options:
Close all windows and quit all applications.
Click "Go" menu in the Finder menubar.
Select Computer, then Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences
    Open "Audio" folder.
Right click these two files and select "Move to Trash".
    com.apple.audio.DevicesSettings.plist
    com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist
Close the window. Restart the computer
Go to Applications/Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup/Built-In Output/Output and in Format change from the default 2ch-24bit integer to any other format (say, 2ch-32bit float). This should activate the headphone jack.  I moved the format back to the original 2ch-24 integer setting and the headphones continued working.  So it seems that (for some reason) the original default setting does not recognize a headphone being inserted, but after performing this "resetting" it seems to come to its senses and behave properly from then on
if these do help your issues, please post back, there may be other options.
It is best to start a new post, rather adding on to an already existsting, as you will get more people looking at it, and thus offering more advice/sugestions.

  • No sound from internal speakers or headphones

    Hi
Today I bought a new mac book pro (retina display model) and I have had a weird problem -
There is no sound from either the internal speakers or when i plug headphones in.
I can change the volume levels, the sound preferences panel shows the internal speakers
and when I plug headphones in, it also shows them listed. The mute box is not checked.
I ran garrage band and it also allows me to choose the internal speakers as an output source.
Everything the computer is telling me seems like it can use the speakers and headphone socket BUT
there is never actually any sound???
If it was a hardware fault, surely the computer wouldnt be able to detect the internal speakers or know when the headphones are plugged in.
So im assuming its a software issue?  I tried using the usb port next to the headphones socket and that worked fine (usb mouse) so the whole board
    isnt broken there.
    Any ideas?

    Just bought it?

  • A105-S2101 - No sound from internal speakers or headphones

I am helping a friend with her computer.  She has a Satellite A105-S2101.  She updated t Vista from XP and everything worked fine.  She did not like Vista and went back to XP.  All went well except she completely lost sound.  I have checked the obvious (volume wheel on front of computer is turned up, volume is not muted, Fn+Esc isnot muted, volume levels are all turned up).  I checked the less obvious.  The Realtek HD Audio device shows up in Devices and reports that it is functioning fine.  I reinstalled the driver just to make sure.  I made sure it was selected as the default audio device for input output, mixer, etc....  I also made sure that all of the functions were enabled on the device.  Still nothing.  I didn't know how she reverted back to XP, so I pulled out the big hammer and used the recovery CD to wipe the computer and go back to the factory setup.  Still nothing.  I have tried reinstalling the driver one more time and still nothing.
    Anyone got any ideas?
    Josh

    Satellite A105-S2101
Seems like you already tried everything.
Just not clear that you did this. Double-click on the speaker icon in the Notification area of the taskbar to open the volume controls. Click Properties on the Options menu and set all the Playback items. Then check them for mute and volume levels.

  • Problem with sound from internal speakers

I have rescued an 867 hz TiBook from the trash heap. This machine was being discarded because it wouldn't wake up (just did this red, blue, yellow flashing thing, so it had to be restarted everytime it went to sleep) and because the internal speakers had stopped working. I took off the keyboard and flashed the pram, reset everything, wiped the hard drive and installed Leopard. This seems to have fixed the sleep issue but there is still no sound from the speakers. The headphone jack works fine, the built-in mic works and there IS an option for internals as the output in prefs, so it's not the headphone jack problem I've read about. I've searched and searched but I can't seem to find a solution that works... anyone have any ideas?

    Hi Mr. Waters,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
You may want to at least follow the wires back from the speakers and see that they're connected, but it's likely the sound card which is unfortunately soldered onto the logic board. If so, the repair would mean replacing the logic board, rather expensive and not easy. Still a nice find for free.

  • No sound from audio speaker or headphone jack

Hello all i bought a HP Probook 4535s from a friend and im not getting any sound from the speakers or headphone jacks. I have flashed the BIOS to the F.41 and this didin't fix the problem. • Problem: I lost the option to get the sound from external speakers or headphones to upgrade to Lion 10.7.3. It accepts only internal speakers.  I downloaded  Combo directly. I followed all the advice from the Apple community

Problem: I lost the option to get the sound from external speakers or headphones to upgrade to Lion 10.7.3. It accepts only internal speakers.  I downloaded  Combo directly , without using "Actualización de software". I followed all the advice from the Apple community.  Can I use bluetooth speakers to solve this problem?  My Computer: iMac. 20-inch, Early 2008. Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.

You may need to reset PRAM/NVRAM.
First, check that the jack is clean. Put some alcohol on a plug and insert it a few times. See if that helps.
is your output both digital and analog? If digital, is the red laser light visible in the socket? Do not look directly into the socket when checking.
If all else fails try a PRAM reset:
    Reset your computer’s PRAM
A small amount of your computer’s memory, called “parameter random-access memory” or PRAM, stores certain settings in a location that Mac OS X can access quickly. The particular settings that are stored depend on your type of Mac and the types of devices connected to it. The settings include your designated startup disk, display resolution, speaker volume, and other information.
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Immediately press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Continue holding the keys down until the computer restarts, and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
DO NOT HOLD These keys beyond the second startup sound!
    Release the keys.
Resetting PRAM may change some system settings and preferences. Use System Preferences to restore your settings.

  • Very poor sound from internal speakers, very good on headphones.

    Hi,
I hope you can give some advice.
New to all this so apologies if protocols are broken etc
    New 20" imac, running Leopard.
very thin, tinny sound from internal speakers (similar to hearing someone's else's walkman
on the train). when I plug headphones in its great no probs.
Advice please! I don't want to send it back I'm halfway through my assignment.
    Hadders

I just realized I've never heard the internal speakers on my new iMac, I have always used good 2.1 speakers since I got my eMac years ago and the internals really sucked.
I was just curious, have you heard anybody elses built in iMac speakers and did they sound better than yours or the same? Maybe at the Apple Store?
I don't know, I just didn't know if they really improved them. Maybe other iMac users can chime in on internal speaker quality. The only reason I said all this was because you mentioned that headphones sound great, which is the same port that a set of external speakers would go.
Sorry to hear you had to send it back for that. Here's hoping you didn't have to send it in for what the speakers really do sound like.

My mac desktop will not provide sound from internal speakers.  When I go to audio devices window it only shows airplay.  How can I get internal speakers back.

There are many possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Some may not apply to your model. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article. Don't skip any of the steps. It's the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem.
    2. Run Software Update and make sure you have a fully up-to-date installation of OS X.
    3. If you've installed an application called "Memory Clean" or any other third-party software that is supposed to "clean" or "purge" memory automatically, remove it according to the developer's instructions and restart. You should do that even if the software is not causing the problem, because it's useless.
    4. Other third-party software that has been reported to interfere with sound output includes "Boom" and "Samsung Kies." If applicable, uninstall according to the developer's instructions (not by dragging something to the Trash.)
    5. If an AirPlay device is selected for sound output from iTunes (or from other applications via third-party software such as "Airfoil"), deselect it.
    6. Launch the application "Audio MIDI Setup" by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search and selecting it in the results (it should be at the top.) Select Built-in Output from the list on the left. If the Mute boxes are checked, uncheck them.
    7. If a red light is visible in the audio-out port when sound should be playing, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
    8. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones. Restart and test.
    9. If you have a MacBook Air, turn off Bluetooth and restart.
    10. Start up in safe mode. Don't log in; just restart as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
    11. Reset the NVRAM.
    12. Reset the SMC.
    13. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/Audio
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Recreate your settings in the Sound preference pane.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    14. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data.
    15. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.

  • No sound from internal speakers on a Elitebook 8560

I have a brand new HP Elitebook 8560w, product no: LG662EA#ABD, with Win 7 64 bit. I can hear sound from the headphone output but nothing from the internal speakers. I have something called Speakers/Phones (my translation) activated (using IDT High Def Audio Codec) but nothing else. No yellow marks in the event viewer.
    Greatful for advice
    Thanks
    Andi

I have the same problem on this EliteBook 8560w. The sound simply stopped working on internal speakers, but works perfectly on headphones output. I suspect a mechanical problem with headphones connector, there is something disconnecting internal speakers when headphones jack is connected. When I pull out the headphones jack, the sound comes out on internal speakers for a second and then it's off again.

    Hello  @Landon3400 ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand your notebook only has sound, through your headphones.
Try updating the driver with the following download and tell me if it resolves the issue: IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver.
