No Sound from laptop Speakers !

I have a Pavilion dv5-1135ee with windows vista 32bit installed
All of a sudden sound decided to come out of the laptop speakers only when the headphones are plugged in! I reinstalled the driver, nothing changed
What should I do??

Hi
You have a couple of options as I see it.
Please turn off the Notebook disconnect the Battery & Adapter press and hold the power button for 30 seconds then turn on the unit and have it checked.
Go to device manager and uninstall the driver and restart and unit will install the driver automatically.
Try doing System restore to the date when the unit was working fine.
Try to update the driver from hp.com website for Audio & Bios.
Let us know how it goes!

  • HP DV6 DV6184CA windows 7 laptop no sound from laptop speakers

Yesterday I was having no issues, as all normal sounds were present (i.e. Windows start-up/shut-down, as well as able to hear mp3 music played on Media Player).  Then I accidently pressed the mute button and now I no longer hear sounds...advanced PC user ...tried everything. I can not hear any system sounds, nor manually force any sounds to be heard.  When I look at the volume mixer, I can see the green bar rising and falling (when playing music) so it seems like the sound is being generated but just not being relayed to the internal speakers and/or headphone jacks.  Likewise when I open the "Sound" window, my default device is the "Speakers and Headphones, IDT High Definition Audio CODEC", and it shows the same activity on the green verticle bars.  I do not use any external speakers. I need the latest audio drivers for my chipset (AMD) I tried the ones on the HP support web-site and they didn't work. I uninstalled the old drivers and reinstalled  using Device Manager and Software Maintenance ...nothing is helping.
The audio troubleshooter did not identify any issues.  All drivers/etc appear to be running properly with no problems noted.  I have not installed any new programs in the recent past (but I honestly don't know if some update occured without my knowledge).
Something similar to this happened to me a couple months ago.  Sound randomly disappeared that time too, but came back just as randomly several days later.  Now that it has happened again, I would like to not only fix it but determine the cause so it doesn't re-appear again and again in the future.
Any advise or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  And if there is any further information I should provide to give a better view of the situation, just let me know and I'll do my best.  Thanks!

    Hi,
First of all, you can certainly try the procedure but skip the step of reinstalling the AMD package - after uninstalling the current IDT driver from its entry in Device Manager, just go straight to:
Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Then the next procedure - this in no way updates the bios, just resets the default values.  As the bios provides the interface between your notebooks hardware and the operating system, resetting the default values can correct issues that may be present here.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button.

  • No sound from laptop speakers after Windows update installed Realtek HD Audio

Laptop is HP6626US with Windows Vista 32 bit SP2.
I had an error with Windows Update which was recently fixed.  When I ran the update Realtek HD Audio was installed, among many other items.  I now have the red circle white X by my speaker icon and do not get any sound out of internal speakers.
    The Driver version is 6.0.1.6662
    Direct X version 11.0
    Audio Codec ALC 268
In Device Manager Under Sound, video and game controllers Realtek HD Audio is listed with Unimodem Half Duplex Audio Device if that is helpful.
    Help Appreciated.

    Hello,PaulM25.
I see that you're having an issue with the sound on your notebook. Typically this means the Drivers don't exist and can also be considered as a hardware issue.
I have a couple of questions for you before we get going.
This is your notebook (HP Pavilion dv6626us Entertainment) correct?
Did this issue occur after you updated the audio drivers?
Now, you can go ahead and try these steps to resolve the issue.
Please completely remove the drivers for the Audio Device in Device Manager and “Control Panel – Programs and Features”.
    Reboot the computer.
Please check if the device will be installed automatically after the computer starts. If not, please go to Device Manager and then navigate to the Audio Device, right click on it and choose “Update Driver software”
If the issue persists, please try to manually install the device driver which comes with the computer to see if it works. (You can also go to HP website to install the drivers. If you cannot find it, please give me the detail information of the device or the computer, such as brand, model, etc., I will help you search for the proper driver.)

  • When I plug my headphones in the my laptop I still have sound from my speakers and headphones

Hello, I'm having trouble with the sound on
my laptop and it's only just started to happen.
When I plug my headphones in the my laptop my speakers don't get muted, So I
have sound from my speakers and headphones at the same time.
I've reinstalled the drivers and this didn't work, So I'll hoping you can help me.
HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC, Product number A8M62EA Windows 7 64-bit

Here's the trick (and it's been verified on 3 other Win 7 systems):
    1) R click on your speaker icon, select 'Recording Devices' (if you have the sounds dialog up, it's the 2nd tab 'Recording')
    2) R click in the white space, be sure that BOTH "show disabled devices" AND "show disconnected devices" are checked.
    3) **Now this step is going to take a little bit of thought for each computer being used: on my laptop (HP Elitebook) I get a device "Stereo Mix", ENABLE this device.
    4) Click on Properties, go to the tab 'Listen'
    5) Check the box "Listen to this device", also change the drop-down box below "Playback through this device" to be your second audio device
-- To verify that you've done this correctly, go back to the Sound dialog tab Playback, you should now see both of your audio devices showing the little green graphs moving.
Here are the specific settings that I have on my laptop, maybe this will help with your settings:
    Speakers- GN9350 (Default Communications Device)
Speakers- SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio (Default Device)
Stereo Mix- 'Listen' feature points this  device to my GN9350 headset.

  • Envy laptop confused about aux jack being plugged/unplugged; no sound from internal speakers

So I was typing all normal like, didn't do anything stupid or weird, but suddenly the music I was playing through my laptop's internal speakers just stopped.
And despite nothing being plugged in the auxiliary jack, the laptop thinks something IS plugged in and doesn't play sound through the internal speakers. So no sound at all.
And on the flip side, when I plug headphones in the aux jack, the laptop says that "You have just unplugged a device from the audio jack" but then plays normally through the headphones. Internal speakers still silent.
It's like the laptop suddenly got confused in whatever component registers the auxiliary connection, but I don't understand why it still plays through the headphones when it thinks there is nothing plugged in. And also why the internal speakers don't work AT ALL.
It has Beats Audio, if that helps at all. I tried restarting, messing around with the sound settings but I honestly have no idea what I'm doing and anyways nothing has changed from that.
    Anyways, yeah, help?
This is a pretty new laptop, only about a month old.

I grasp that you have lost  sound  on the internal speakers and when you connect headphones you get the message that you disconnected the device but then plays sound through the headphones.
Here is a link to No Sound from the Speakers (Windows 8) that may help to overcome this issue.
If this has not been resolved I recommend contacting HP support for assistance as the notebook is only a month old.

  • When i play a video or movie i get a buzzing sound from the speakers. how do i solve this problem?

I get this  buzzing sound from my speakers when I play a video, or movie either from the internet or playing a DVD. What can I do to solve this problem

A: There is no such thing as an unlocked iPhone 3Gs in the United States. ALL iPhone 3Gs's sold in the US are locked to AT&T. AT&T will NOT unlock iPhones, therefore it is not legitimately unlocked.
B: Sprint is a CDMA network as others have mentioned. They do NOT use SIM cards. The iPhone 3Gs will NEVER work on Sprint. Ever. It's not physically possible.
Either your Uncle misunderstood or he was mislead. Send it back and tell him to get his money back. Buy an iPhone in India from a supported carrier.

My mac desktop will not provide sound from internal speakers.  When I go to audio devices window it only shows airplay.  How can I get internal speakers back.

There are many possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Some may not apply to your model. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article. Don't skip any of the steps. It's the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem.
    2. Run Software Update and make sure you have a fully up-to-date installation of OS X.
    3. If you've installed an application called "Memory Clean" or any other third-party software that is supposed to "clean" or "purge" memory automatically, remove it according to the developer's instructions and restart. You should do that even if the software is not causing the problem, because it's useless.
    4. Other third-party software that has been reported to interfere with sound output includes "Boom" and "Samsung Kies." If applicable, uninstall according to the developer's instructions (not by dragging something to the Trash.)
    5. If an AirPlay device is selected for sound output from iTunes (or from other applications via third-party software such as "Airfoil"), deselect it.
    6. Launch the application "Audio MIDI Setup" by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search and selecting it in the results (it should be at the top.) Select Built-in Output from the list on the left. If the Mute boxes are checked, uncheck them.
    7. If a red light is visible in the audio-out port when sound should be playing, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
    8. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones. Restart and test.
    9. If you have a MacBook Air, turn off Bluetooth and restart.
    10. Start up in safe mode. Don't log in; just restart as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
    11. Reset the NVRAM.
    12. Reset the SMC.
    13. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/Audio
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Recreate your settings in the Sound preference pane.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    14. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data.

  • Very poor sound from internal speakers, very good on headphones.

    Hi,
I hope you can give some advice.
New to all this so apologies if protocols are broken etc
    New 20" imac, running Leopard.
very thin, tinny sound from internal speakers (similar to hearing someone's else's walkman
on the train). when I plug headphones in its great no probs.
Advice please! I don't want to send it back I'm halfway through my assignment.
    Hadders

I just realized I've never heard the internal speakers on my new iMac, I have always used good 2.1 speakers since I got my eMac years ago and the internals really sucked.
I was just curious, have you heard anybody elses built in iMac speakers and did they sound better than yours or the same? Maybe at the Apple Store?
I don't know, I just didn't know if they really improved them. Maybe other iMac users can chime in on internal speaker quality. The only reason I said all this was because you mentioned that headphones sound great, which is the same port that a set of external speakers would go.
Sorry to hear you had to send it back for that. Here's hoping you didn't have to send it in for what the speakers really do sound like.

    Hello  @Landon3400 ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand your notebook only has sound, through your headphones.
Try updating the driver with the following download and tell me if it resolves the issue: IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver.

  • Problem with sound from internal speakers

I have rescued an 867 hz TiBook from the trash heap. This machine was being discarded because it wouldn't wake up (just did this red, blue, yellow flashing thing, so it had to be restarted everytime it went to sleep) and because the internal speakers had stopped working. I took off the keyboard and flashed the pram, reset everything, wiped the hard drive and installed Leopard. This seems to have fixed the sleep issue but there is still no sound from the speakers. The headphone jack works fine, the built-in mic works and there IS an option for internals as the output in prefs, so it's not the headphone jack problem I've read about. I've searched and searched but I can't seem to find a solution that works... anyone have any ideas?

    Hi Mr. Waters,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
You may want to at least follow the wires back from the speakers and see that they're connected, but it's likely the sound card which is unfortunately soldered onto the logic board. If so, the repair would mean replacing the logic board, rather expensive and not easy. Still a nice find for free.

    Hi,
The functionality of the mute button is provided by the IDT Audio software so the problem may be that Windows 8 has installed a reference driver that does not contain this.  Often, the Windows 7 version works Ok, so I'd try downloading and installing the following IDT driver.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp48501-49000/sp48830.exe
After the installation has completed, restart the notebook.
