No sound from my PCI express xtreme x-fi sound card

I am having issues getting fallout 3 to work on my new pc so someone told me to disable my intergrated sound card(realtek) cause SB and RT could be conflicting. When I did I ended up with no sound at all with my soundblaster card. I am wondering maybe I didn't plug it in correctly? I am using a cyber accoustics headset. The problem still occurs with Fallout 3 and seems to be coming from the card.

Re: No sound from my PCI express xtreme x-fi sound card? On your system, make sure you power down and then turn your system on again and enter your computer's setup program. Look for onboard sound or integrated devices, or lastly Sound Codec such as Realtek. Make sure to totally disable this. Then once you save your changes, restart your machine and enter windows then go to control panel, and sound. Go to playback and then see if you have X-FI listed. Choose "set as default" if it is not listed. Then click speakers once and choose properties and and levels and make sure you have your volumes for each channel raised.
Sometimes when you have onboard sound and you disable it its drivers still tell your system that it is your primary sound device and your system still looks for it rather than the Creative.
also check in your control panel, under programs and features and make sure you have removed all traces of your REALTEK sound software. Try a reinstall of your Creative software to make sure it is reinstated as the primary sound device and lastly, reinstall Direct X.
make sure all speaker jacks have been removed from your Realtek and plugged into your Xtreme x-fi.

I have an audio cable connecting from my keyboard output to the soundcard input but the sound is not coming out the speakers when I press a key. Can anyone help? This worked fine with the soundcard it came with but I can't get it to work with the SB card I just installed. All other sounds come through fine.

As the model name says; PCI Express -> you can connect this model into a PCI Express slot (x, x4 or x6 type slot). Remember always read the Requirements part too.
If your Motherboard doesn't have one then your card has more use in your bookshelf.

  • PCI Express 2.0 Firewire 400 card (?) and the best RAM

Hi. I just bought a new Mac Pro with the following specs:
    * One 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon "Nehalem" processor
    * 3GB (three 1GB) memory
    * 1TB hard drive
    * 18x double-layer SuperDrive
    * ATI Radeon HD 5770 with 1GB GDDR5
I'm upgrading from a seven year old G4 MDD Dual 1.25 gHZ (still running OS 10.4.11).
I also have a small recording studio- with audio interfaces that use Firewire 400 connections. I don't want to use a converter, nor do I want to use a hub, as they create latency issues when recording/sequencing.
My question is this: Does anyone know of a good PCI Express 2.0 card that has (maybe 4) Firewire 400 ports? Also, I want to upgrade the RAM, can anyone suggest a good RAM chip? I did some research and found 16GB from OWC at about $280. My understanding of OWC is that it could be any number of manufacturers. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance!

You can adapt the FireWire 800 ports to firewire 400 with a simple adapter or cable that has no active components and no latency. A card is not necessary.
Once you eliminate the total garbage products from unscrupulous Vendors, "Quality" of RAM correlates with "does it work in my Mac".
Buy from a Mac-savvy Vendor who can tell you what RAM goes in your Mac, and guarantees it will work or your money back. \{It costs then money to get it wrong.]
As I_elephant suggested, a Lifetime warranty is what you are looking for.
Be very cautious when reading about how to configure memory in your Mac. 2009 and later is completely different from 2008 and earlier, and you need to check the dates on the articles you are reading or you can easily get information that does not apply to you. e.g., the 2009 does not require updates in "matched pairs" but the 2008 and previous does.

  • Can a pcie express X 3.0 video card be used on a pcie express x 16 2.0 motherboard?

I am upgrading my PSU and GPU and want to know if a pcie 3.0 video card will work on my pcie 2.0 motherboard.
     the motherboard is a MS-7613 IONA-GL8E  (MSI)

The pcie 3.0 specification is backwardly compatible to pcie 2.0. The problem you may run into is that of compatibility with the vBIOS of the video card. Major video card makers have forums that are usually quite helpful with that kind of knowlege.
Check at the candidate PCIe x16 manufacturer's support forum  or website to see if they offer a vBIOS file to make it legacy PC compatible. You need one with a hybrid vBIOS, because your PC is not UEFI vBIOS compatible.
It is always best if you identify an HP product by its product name or product number rather than the subsystems that it contains. That lets us find information on the BIOS, which is what I needed.
Try doing a Google search with your PC's product name and upgrading video card as the keywords to sift through the information freely available on the internet.

  • Need Urgent Help : Using VIVADO Design Suite for PCI Express 3.0, 8 lane, and AXI Interfaces for Video Processing

My scenario is as follows :-
    1) I am building a Image Processing Application and using VIVADO HLS for that.
    2) I have synthesized my design using VIVADO HLS, and export it as IP-XACT format.
    3) I have imported it in VIVADO Design Suite, and added to the IP catalog, in a new project created.
    4) Since I am building an image processing pipeline, I am using AXI Stream interfaces, 1 input stream, and 1 output stream, and mentioned that in the HLS tool itself..
    5) I have a Virtex 7 690T FPGA, and have accordingly chosen the board throughout the HLS process, and the project.
    6) We want to use a PCI Express 3.0, through DMA access to the CPU.
    7) Now I am stuck here regarding how to proceed forward, I have gone through most of the Xilinx documentation, but am still not clear about what to do from here on.
    8) There are these 3 variables for me, AXI Stream Interface, DMA, PCI Express 3.0, all I have right now is the IP of the Image Processing pipeline that I generated through VIVADO HLS.
    9) Also at a later stage we would like to stream in Video, and process it through our image processing pipeline.
Please help me with an overview of steps that I need to follow to get my design together and working on a real FPGA hardware with my Computer(windows OS), as in what Xilinx IP blocks do I need to use, how will I be able to exploit the maximum bandwidth from the PCI Express Interface in my specific case of send image through a stream, what tools will I need to use at every stage.
I would be highly grateful if you guys can help me, we have a dealine to meet.
Please let me know if we need any extra information.

told me any card would work in my new.......well it WAS new till they announced upgrade, 2x3ghz quadcore xeon.
I want to add another firewire 800 bus since I have the AJAHD hooked to the existing bus.
So I went to Fry's and got the "PCI-express firewire 800/1394b controller card 3 ports".
put it into one of the empty slots, rebooted, and got nothing, just some dull chimes, that don't stop.
it fit within my macpro, but it was a lot shorter than the SATA card, that had no problems.
So I guess I need to know exactly what type of firewire 800 card to I have to get.

I installed 1 of these in an 8 core OS 10.4.11 FCp 6.0.2 QT 7.3.1 dedicated to io HD
don't recall a driver disk for mac, however I rarely if ever use the supplied driver disk for anything anymore 'cause it's almost always out of date. go to mfg site and get drivers etc.

  • PCI Express and Soundblast

I just got a new machine that has PCI Express card slots in it. I am new to this technology so I have a total noob question. Can you use soundblaster cards in a PCI Express slot? And on a larger scheme, can you use PCI cards in PCI Express slots?
    Thanks,
    -murk

As everybody said... No. PCI-express and PCI are not really compatible.
And I'd like to reply on the posts regarding PCI-express soundcards. If any card like that would be produced, I guess we'd need mainboards with more PCI-E slots than we have now. Now it's all PCI-E on GPU's and 2 PCI-E slots for crossfire/SLI setu
    ps.
Gi'ven I want to have a decent gaming machine in the foreseeable future, I'd need atleast 3 if not 4 PCI-E slots. Something like a Physics processing unit comes to mind, 2 GPU's and a soundcard... which would also conclude in a lot of users should be upgrading their systems to a higher substandard then now. Upgrading is fun and all, but if they people can't afford to upgrade that often, most companies would stay pretty low.
That's just my 2 cents. But seeing the developments running wild regarding computers I wouldn't be too surprised if we'd see it happen soon.

    Hi,
The following lisk shows the specs of your friend's machine:
        http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c01475192#N101
    It has :
    Expansion Slots:
1 PCI Express x16 slot for graphics card
    2 PCI Express x1 slots
    1 PCI slot
That means Yes, you can install a PCIe sound card on this machine. There are many good sound cards around

  • Issues related to Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio (PCI Express 1)

Hi, I've recently bought a SB X-Fi Xtreme Audio (PCI Express edition).
Before I address my issue, I'd like to point out that my rig is:
    Maximus Extreme (mobo)?
    Q6600 (cpu)
    ATI4870 (vid card)
    4Gigs of DDR3 (ram)
and my OS is Vista Home Edition (32 bit precision)?
And so after physically installing the hardware, I quickly installed everything there was on the CD- this included the drivers available on the CD. After this installation, I restarted then found most recent updates via online sources (creative.com). But even after all of this, I wasn't able to get my microphone to work. Now from my understanding, the jack is shared between Line-In and Microphone and I'm supposed to configure this setting. And so I tried to do that, but my only problem was that I was unable to use any of the available features. After researching for a few hours I found out that I, appearently have to uninstall everything that I had installed and then reinstall everything from online sources (from creative.com-- latest drivers for vista 32 bit). But even then, I still can't use my mic or configure the settings so that I could use microphone instead of Line-In.
Now going back to my actual question, how do I configure the settings so that I could use Microphone instead of Line-In?

ERe: Issues related to Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio (PCI Express )[ Bumping.
    Almost the same problem here.
Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio edition, Windows 7 64bit.
I downloaded the latest driver from the Creative site, installed it, update with the update manager and then i installed the console.
Issue number : I DONT have your same console. I dont have a "Mode" button, im stuck in Entertainment Mode. I cant control almost nothing and i dont have all the options u have.
Issue number 2: My mic isnt working good. It's VERY low on volume, i cant be heard without the +20db boost (the only boost option i have, i cant boost more) and even with that acti've that's not that loud.
It is still working good with my onboard realtek soundcard. I cant understand what's the problem and how to solve it.
Ah, my headset is a Creative Fatality.

  • How do I get the "What u Hear" back in the PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Aud

When I right click on the recording the "what u hear" is no-where to be found, and is not present, is this fuction no-longer? available in the lastest PCI Express X-FI Xtreme Audio card in Vista? I can't seem to find it anywhere, it's not disabled or hidden it's just gone
    any help would be nice?

I just found out that the "what u hear" function is not supported in the Creavti've Sound Blaster PCI Express X-Fi Xtreme Audio Card
however, I, was able to get this to work (here's what I did) for a work-around
. I used a /8 stereo y-adapter and connected it to the speaker output, on the X-fi card,
    2. then used the on-board REALTEK sound cards imput jack,
    3. by doing this I now have the REALTEK Stereo Mix and the REALTEK line-in as the "what u hear" option, this will only work if you
    have an on-board sound card
so now I can record everything I hear on my PC, streaming audio, ect. I hope this helps anyone who's bought this card and doesn't have the "what u hear" recording option as this function is NO LONGER supported by Creative...................here's what I got in my email form the Creative support team about this issue:

Everything is working perfect but i got Problems with my "Line-In" option.
inside my Audio Controlpanel i set the Flexijack setting to Line-In and plugged in my XBOX360.

i hope you guys can help me out.
    Kind regards,

    WHi,
It would help if you can provide the exact error message or a screenshot.
You might want to find out from the seller if this sound card came pre-installed along with the PC (OEM) or if he purchased it separately. Alternati'vely, please provide the model number of the sound card.

  • S/PDIF options for PCI Express X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card non-existant!

Hey guys, I've been searching around for this for a while now and I still come up with anything...
I currently have a PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card installed in my PC, and this cound card has a built-in optical output port. I have been trying to set the sound card to use this port and I still can not find anyway around it.
I have searched the support pages and they always go back and say that I can enable audio on that port using the Digital I/O icon in the media console (I'm in Entertainment mode btw, doesn't seem like I can change that). However, I don't have that icon present in my media console. I tried upgrading drivers, updating software but still to no avail
So right now i'm running Windows XP (32-bit) and what seem to be the latest software and drivers for this card, and none of this is making any sense to me and so I believe that I am going mad!
I am honestly starting to believe that the port is just there for decoration...

This seems to be a fairly common issue across out in the market.
Do you not think it would be worth while chasing this down internal to Creative and sharing the solution with everyone?
Pointing us one at a time to support for what should be readily available drivers doesn't make a lot of sense.

  • Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio (PCI-Express) + Vista 32bit an media pla

Hi folks,Maybe someone here can help me with this issue, I recently bought a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio 7. Sound Card - OEM (PCI-Express), it arri'ved with the cd with software and drivers on it and i installed it into my vista 32bit without any problems. On rebooting my sound was working normally and as far as i could tell all was great untill that is i went to play some mp3 using windows media player, wmp kept telling me it couldnt play the file type then i tried to play a wma file an got the same thing, basically almost all audio types will no longer play in wmp. I rolled back the driver to use the microsoft driver (high defination audio device) and everything is playing in media player again.Only now i cant use the software suppiled with the card. Anyone have any idea how to use the creative driver and get wmp to play properly thanks in advance.
(in addition) after some messing around with various settings i discovered that this seems to be caused by the sb enhancements, when i disable them in speaker properties wmp plays as it should, althought i am rather disappointed that i have to disable the features on the card inorder to get it to work properly.
