No sound from rear panel!!

Hi,
There is no sound from the rear panel line-out. Also, the line-in and mic jacks do not work. Have checked the jumpers 5,6 and 9,10 of JAUD1. They are in place.
Have re-installed the Audio driver from the driver CD.
The config:
MSI RS482M4 motherboard.
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
1 GB RAM
Maxtor 6y080L0  160GB and ST306021 80GB
ASUS CRW-5232AS
SONY DVD RW DRU-820A.
Pls help!!!!

The files that you are trying to play are stereo only?
Last time i used a Realtek sound card i could test HRTF from the control panel ,to see if all speakers work. You should also check the 5.1 configuration in both Windows and Realtek sound control panel.
You can use Foobar 2000 player (and use the multichannel converter in its DSP manager) or a mediaplayer like Power DVD ,to play a DVD with multichannel support.
Unfortunatelly Realtek doesnt offer something similar to Qsound or Creative's multichannel upmix tricks. As long as you use the proper player you should be able to listen a stereo recording upmixed to 5.1.
If you re using XP make sure that in Winamp you select for Output the Direct Sound plug in instead of Wave.(wave doesnt support multychannel).

  • MSI-7345 (P35 Neo2-FR) - No sound from rear panel

    Hello,
I cannot seems to get any sound output from the rear panel jacks on my MSI-7345.  The front headphone jack is working fine.
I have installed the latest audio drivers from Realtek, tried every combination of settings I could conceive ("Disable front jack", "Mute rear panel", etc), and I have tried putting jumpers on the 5-6 and 9-10 pins of the AUD1 header on the motherboard to force output to the rear.  All to no avail.
Windows sees the device just fine.  The jacks are seen just fine by the Realtek Audio Control utility (it notices when I plug and unplug my headphones from each jack).  I even see the "levels" in the Audio mixer activate themselves when I play sounds (and the volumes are all at 100%)... but there is nothing coming out in the headphones.
This is all on a fresh install of Windows 7 64-bit.  FWIW, I can't get any output from the rear panel under Linux either, but *that* could be a driver problem (I have not spent much time troubleshooting under Linux at this point).
Does anybody have a helpful suggestion ?  Or am I simply looking at a hardware failure ?

    Thanks for you reply.
It turns out this is somewhat embarassing: the problem was with the headphones I was using to test the rear panel jacks    I tried another pair and everyting is working well.  I feel so stupid now...
Hey, that's good troubleshooting!  Nothing to be embarrassed about.

  • Soft sound from rear speakers while playing mov

Hi,?Gaming and music is done via all speakers (i'm using analogue connection) just fine, but when i play a movie (using powerdvd 6?deluxe) i get faint sounds from the rear speakers. I had contact with creative's help desk in my country and we ran thru all system settings (e.g. thnx console). Everything was configured correctly., tho still a weak sound from rear speakers. They could not help me further ?I'm using a x-fi fatality soundcard with a logitech z-5400 speakerset.
When running a movie it shows a logo near the system tray : dolby digital. I am hoping one of u has a solution to this problem. Greetz,?Nask

In most of the cases, movies with mutichannel soundtrack do not use constantly every speakers. I think your case is normal and that's only your DVD's mix (as many DVD) that concentrates more on the front. try some of the sample there: http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/do...s/trailers.phpIf the first one sound at the same level for each speakers then it's alright.

  • Why no sound from rear speakers (Xfi X

Vista 32bit, CMSS enabled, why no sound from rear speakers with music? XP no problem at all, only in Vista. Using latest drivers (v2.5.0004).
I realize I'm hoping against hope to get a useful answer at the Creative forums, but I do believe in miracles and the odd one happening once or twice in a lifetime, lol.

Well, I think I have an answer, from Catherina-CL's Audio in Windows Vista post. 2.The Vista audio architecture changes the way per-stream audio processing works, which required us to write new software to support this
    Issues that may be encountered:
CMSS no longer works on audio streams from the OS.
    Status:
Features based on Windows XP architecture must be rewritten to conform to the new Vista architecture, and we have a team of software engineers, project managers and testers dedicated to this task in order to provide our customers the same seamless audio experience under Windows Vista that they enjoyed under Windows XP. However, I found a somewhat crappy solution, at least with my old Altec Lansing 4 speaker/ subwoofer system. Unplug the surround cable from your subwoofer (unplugging it from the card itself has no effect). That at least will make all the speakers work, even if it's not true surround. Good for listening to music loud.

  • Xi-Fi: No sound from rear speakers in Vi

Hey everybody, I am not hearing any sound from my rear speakers (I have a 5. setup) in Windows Vista. I have of course updated to the latest Vista driver for the Xi-Fi card, all of my connections are correctly set up on my hardware, and I have made sure that I have 5. Speakers selected in the Xi-Fi Volume Panel.
The strange thing is, if I go into the Windows Sound panel from the Control Panel and do a test from there, I *do* hear sound from my rear speakers, however this is the only time I can hear it, not while listening to music, watching movies, or playing games.
If anyone can help me with this problem I'd be deeply appreciati've. Thanks!

Unfortunately, I have gone through 2 SoundBlaster cards on my Vista machine and am _still_ having this same issue. On my XP machine everything worked great with my Audigy 2 card... once I upgraded to Vista, nadda (and not to mention all the cool features & software that worked on XP didn't work in Vista)... so I upgraded to an X-Fi Fatalty Platinum card after reading on the Creative website that most functionality had returned with the new drivers (including CMSS supposedly). While some of the software is now available, the whole reason I upgraded my card was so that CMSS would work!
Like everyone else, I have CMSS enabled and when I do the speaker test in Windows & Creative Audio Console, I hear test tones from the rear speakers. However, when I listen to music or do anything else involving audio, I get nothing from the rears (unless I turn on one of the effects which I don't want as they mess with the sound too much - and even then, I only hear a slight reverby effect from the rears on certain effects). I am extremely disappointed that I spent a lot of money (much more than most good soundcards) and STILL HAVE NO REAR SOUND!
Also, is anyone getting a warning when opening the Sound options in Windows Control Panel? This is what I am getting:
    http://www.snapdri've.net/files/56394/AudioEnhancements.JPG
Which tells me that something isn't right... I am hoping it is due to remnants of my audigy drivers... this is the only reason I have a glint of hope - and this: after googling this issue, I did find another forum discussing the same issue and one person was actually able to resolve it... here was his solution:
"I uninstalled the drivers for the third time, but this time went into my creative folder and deleted all of the audio console files and what not that there was NOT an uninstaller for. I then rebooted. I redownloaded and reinstalled the latest drivers from the website. I rebooted again. I then downloaded the latest vista audio console launcher and installed it. I then rebooted again. I turned some music on and the CMSS works now! And it sound SO much better! IT EVEN GAVE ME MY MIC OPTIONS BACK. The only thing I can think of was that I had an old XP version of the audio console, and thats why the CMSS didn't work, and it took away my mic options."
If anyone does resolve this issue, PLEASE POST YOUR SOLUTION HERE! Thanks - it would be much appreciated and would surely be helping out many others with the same frustrating problem.

  • Really low sound from rear left spea

I have 5. headphones and when i have them pluged into my xtreamgamer i barly get any sound from my rear left speaker, i know it works because if i plug it in my basic MB soundcard it works fine. Is this a known problem or a fix for this?

I've installed the latest drivers, made sure the the jack is plugged in right (theres only one, that comes from the Monitor or the headphones). The CD only has an installation guide, and i know onboard sound is disabled because i never had one in the first place after a recent reformat. and before that reformat sound came out from both sides normally, so i know something is wrong with the sound card.
EDIT: i just did a random tests, and i found out that the right speaker is working, but it is playing extreamly low. i had to blare up my volume up to 00% and i bearly heard it. i've checked the playback control, and played around with it and still have same problem.Message Edited by Bigs80 on --200606:49 AM

  • After Windows XP clean re-load and SB Live installation, getting no sound from rear speake

I had to re-load my Sound Blaster Li've! Value but now I don't have any sound from my rear speakers. I have set the SB settings for four speakers and my Sound and Audio setting is for Quadraphonic. I registered for auto SB updates but the system could not find any updates for my installation.
    Thanks

  • 4.1 Speaker Setup - No sound from rear speak

    Opsys: Windows 2000 (just installed)
    Card: Audigy 2 ZS Platinum
Software: Installed full sets of Creative software, everything runs
I'm trying to set up a 4. system where I'm using 2 set sets of stereo speakers plugged into line outs # and #2.
The problem is that I get sound only from line out #. All attempts at plugging the second set of speakers into the other line outs doesn't do anything for sound. I have switched the 2 sets around and they both work from lineout #.
The speaker calibration program only works for the front left and right speaker (i.e. no rear speaker output). I have tried more than just the 4. option, but none of them produce any sound to the rear speakers.
I have enabled EAX and CMSS, but this hasn't done any good. Still no sound from the rear speakers.
I checked the speaker set up and the volumes are midway for all speakers, both front and back.
Soooo. My guess is driver problems or maybe the 2 way stereo plug doesn't work with the 3 way plugs of line out #2 and #3.
    Any ideas?
    Rick

Okay, I get the stupid award for this one. I didn't notice that I was plugging my rear speakers into to the mic instead of the lineout 2. Well, in my defense, they are symetrically located around lineout and they do fit.
I would suggest people with sound issues to look at the other utilities. The one that helped was the Thx Setup console. This displays all info about the speakers, analog/digital settings, and even a picture showing the card plugs (that got the noodle thinking).
Also the Surround Mixer showed the correct configuration of the 4 speakers but without a sub hooked up. This fits my 2 stereo connections exactly.
    Cheers.

  • No sound from rear speakers on my Inspire 5500, all I get is a hissing sound! :(

    Hi ppl, im new ere.
I just bought a Surround sound, i put it together, play music, and thers no sound from my rear speakers. its the same when i play a game and look at a DVD (which DO support 5.1 sound)
I already made sure all the connections in the amp and subwoofer are in properly and they are...
And I also know that it cudnt be my sound card because it also supports 8.1 and im only trying to use a 5.1.
    Please help someone....
    All help is greatly appreciated
    Dave

    Hi Dave,
First things first. For music and games (and the speaker test in Windows), what you're experiencing is normal. A digital connection like coaxial or optical SPDIF can only pass over either an encoded stream (like AC3 on DVDs), or a stereo PCM signal. If you're playing music/games, the sound is not an AC3 stream, but essentially several stereo signals. The connection simply cannot pass this over. For more detail, read this forum thread and this knowledgebase article. You can turn on the upmix function on the decoder to give sound out of more speakers, but this is an effect, so you will not get the positional sound out of games for instance.
For DVDs however, this should work perfectly, as you are sending an unprocessed AC3 stream from the system directly to your speakers. All you need to do is adjust the settings and it should work fine. Make sure the DVD software's audio option is set to SPDIF/bypass, rather than 5.1. Choosing 5.1 in the software will make it decode the signal rather than pass it through. Then check the settings for the card and it should work.

I (hopefully) clarified some of this in the other thread, but this is not the way it works. Read the other thread for a more detailed rundown.
When you're playing anything that isn't a true Dolby Digital 5. source (with an encoded AC3 stream), like a game or music, you will only get stereo over a digital connection. That is normal, that is not a bug or a mistake, but that is normal. No coaxial wire is capable of passing over a 5. signal that isn't an encoded AC3 stream. If you're playing a DVD, that will work, as it's an encoded AC3 stream, but as I mentioned the card and DVD software have to be set to bypass the signal, to the encoded AC3 stream goes over the cable untouched, and your external decoder can process the signal.

Yes I know all that. But even if it's not a AC3 signal, like when you play a stereo MP3 file, shouldn't the Dolby Digital led on th external decoder be on anyways? Since it does transfer from a Digital out to a Digital in. I say this, because when using my internal Dolby Digital feature (nVidia Soundstorm) from the coaxial SPDIF out to the Inspire 5500's coaxial digital in, the Dolby Digital led is always on. I know it's no real 5. DD, but it is a digital signal, so it detects it and triggers the led.So I expect this to be the case with the Audigy 2 SZ too.

I have an hp pavilion a6863w running Win7. I can't get any sound from my rear surounds and I can't find any speaker adjustments. With Vista you could adjust for room configuration and everything. Is that in Win7 hidden somewhere? I have looked everywhere I can think.

    Hi:
Perhaps you should download and install the latest RealTek HD audio driver for your PC directly from RealTek. This driver may allow you to have more options to configure your audio output than you currently have.
    http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownT...
Accept the agreement, download and install the first one on the list.

  • No sound from rear speakers in 5.1 in mov

I have the Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer card. When I use the channel test in the Audio Console (Game Mode), I hear everything just fine. Sounds come from the correct speakers. But when I'm watching a movie (like right now, Sin City bluray version), I can only hear sounds from the front left, center and right. In games like Battlefield 2 the sounds works just fine. What could be the problem? I would really appreciate any help. A good movie is so much more with good sound.

You were right. I neglected the slider on the right in Stereo Surround mode. It should have been set to Surround. As soon as I did it the sound appeared. Thanks for your reply

  • Inaudible sound from rear speak

    hi,
i recently brought a soundblaster li've 24 bit sound card , and creative inspire 5. speakers. When i try to play dvds on powerdvd with prologic on, on power dvd software i can hardly hear any sound at all from my rear speakers. And also please explain what is the difference between software decoder prologic on power dvd and the hardware decoder ddts-00. will the surround quality be better on the ddts 00 decoder

NOOOO, wait. If you enable CMSS, you will get the same STEREO signal to all speakers. You will not get 5.. CMSS is for a 2 channel stereo signal to be sent to all speakers. Its mainly for music and not 5. DVDs.
EG: If you have a Divx movie which is 2 channel then you can turn on CMSS to get all speakers working, but this is not 5..
What you need to do is dissable CMSS.
Make sure everything is set to 5. also in windows control panel.
Now with WMP 0 you then need to go into the options for sound and also set it up to use 6 channels. This is 5..
You can also get WIN DVD as it will give you 5.
The best way to know what is going on is do this.
Play a movie with CMSS on, like you have it.
Now while playing the movie open up media CC. and then go to Surround mixer. Now go to advance and play with the sliders for all speakers. Lower the centre one to Zero. You will still hear vocals, This is not right. Lower the front and centre speakers and you will still hear all sound FX. This is not 5. my freind. Try it for your self and then you will see what I mean..
